Definitions

  • the invention relates to a package consisting of a box body formed by folding and gluing operations according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • the invention further relates to a method for filling such packages.
  • Automation has already reached a very high level in the packaging industry. The bottler obtains pre-printed blanks from the packaging manufacturer, which are then glued to box bodies on an in-house system and filled with packaging material.
  • the automation of the filling process often presents difficulties in that the filling openings of the packaging are difficult to access.
  • the packaging is subject to certain requirements with regard to security against unauthorized opening or against unauthorized removal of packaging material. The packaging is therefore sometimes subject to completely opposite requirements.
  • CH-A-572 853 (equivalent to US-A-3 921 895) has made known packaging which is suitable for packaging ampoules on an automatic filling line.
  • the ampoules are placed in openings in a multiply folded prismatic hollow body, which also forms a side wall of the packaging. This straightens the prismatic hollow body and stabilizes the box body by gluing the prismatic hollow body to two adjacent side walls of the packaging. These side walls are fixed to the prismatic hollow body with a web attached to the side walls, so that the two webs run parallel to the rear wall after the gluing.
  • the packaging is filled from the outside by pushing the ampoules from the outside through the openings in the prismatic hollow body.
  • the outer openings on the prismatic hollow body are closed by a cover strip assigned to the cover when the cover is glued.
  • the packaging according to the previously published older patent has several shortcomings.
  • the insertion of the ampoules into the openings is a relatively complex and complicated filling process. There is a risk that if the openings are not punched out correctly, individual ampoules will be broken when inserted.
  • the use of such packaging for packaging goods other than ampoules is practically impossible on an automatic filling line.
  • Box opening is difficult to access from above and does not correspond to the full usable width of the packaging.
  • a package for magazines and books or the like has become known from EP-A-28 693, in which two parallel side walls are formed by buffer hollow bodies which are cuboid in cross section.
  • the packaging is stabilized by gluing the lid onto a kinked head flap.
  • this stabilization only takes place when the packaging is filled and glued.
  • This object is achieved according to the invention by a packaging which has the features in the characterizing part of patent claim 1.
  • the process for filling such packaging is characterized by only a few and extremely simple operations.
  • the object is achieved by a method which has the features in the characterizing part of patent claim 8.
  • the insertion tongues integrated in the web allow the prismatic hollow bodies to be stabilized before the packaging is filled by simply inserting the tongues into the front openings of the hollow bodies. This eliminates the need for a glue station on the filling line, and no expensive means of holding the erected hollow bodies are required. In individual cases, for example for sampling purposes, packaging can also be put together by hand.
  • the insertion tongues can be formed by an incision in the web, which extends over the entire width or only over part of the width of the web, in which case the prismatic hollow bodies must also be incised in order to enable the insertion tongues to be inserted completely.
  • the completely cut-in bar has the advantage that it remains vertical even when the tongue is inserted, which makes filling easier.
  • the box body has a relatively good lateral stability even before the cover is glued when the web is only partially cut, and a shaft part inserted into the packaging, for example, is held down by the web because it can no longer stand up.
  • the packaging can be particularly advantageously provided with a packaging insert according to the features in claim 6.
  • the packaging insert is held in the packaging without gluing, since on the one hand it is held down by the web and, on the other hand, the holding web, which is supported on the cutouts in the fastening tongues, prevents it from sliding out.
  • the packaging insert is a shaft part
  • ampoules in particular can be packaged in a simple manner.
  • the ampoules are also held by the bridge so that they cannot easily fall out when the lid is opened.
  • Fig. 1 shows a basic blank 1 for a packaging according to the invention, which consists of a material web such as Cardboard, plastic film, metal film or from a laminate is punched out of these materials.
  • the blank consists of a rear wall 2, to which a side wall 4 and a cover 3 are connected at the top and a side wall 5 and a web 6 are connected at the bottom.
  • An outer wall 12 of the prismatic hollow body later glued together, an upper side 11 of the prismatic hollow body, an inner wall 9 of the prismatic hollow body and a fastening tongue 10 for the prismatic hollow body are laterally adjacent to the rear wall 2.
  • the outer walls 12 of the prismatic hollow body later correspond to a side wall 8 of the packaging.
  • the side walls 4 and 5 and the outer walls 12 obviously have the same width, since these wall parts define the height of the packaging. All adjoining wall sections of the blank are delimited from one another by fold lines 15, which allow the wall sections to be folded over by means of suitable devices.
  • the web 6 is provided at both ends with a partial incision 28 so that insertion tongues 27 are formed.
  • An incision 29 is also arranged on the fold line of the inner wall 9, so that the insertion tongues 27 can later be inserted in the entire depth.
  • the incisions 28 and 29 are approximately wedge-shaped to facilitate insertion.
  • FIG. 2 shows a top view of the blank according to FIG. 1, but with a prepared prismatic hollow body.
  • the top of the hollow body 11, the inner wall of the hollow body 9 and the fastening tongue 10 are folded over the outer wall 12 of the hollow body, the fastening tongue 10 being glued to the rear wall 2.
  • the blank as shown in Fig. 2 is produced by the packaging manufacturer and delivered to the bottler already printed.
  • the flat blanks are obviously extremely easy to pack because they take up little space.
  • the prepared blanks can also be delivered to the bottler as a tape hanging on a roll.
  • the filler transfers the blanks delivered as a stack or on a roll to an automatic gluing and filling station.
  • To fill the packaging it is important that the box body is stabilized first. This is necessary because the side walls have a tendency to return to their original flat position after folding up. For example, only a stabilized box body can be transported on a vacuum conveyor belt and fed to the individual work stations.
  • the two parallel prismatic hollow bodies 7 are first erected.
  • the inner wall 9 and the outer wall 12 of the hollow body perform a parallelogram-like movement until both wall parts are at right angles to the rear wall 2.
  • the insertion tongues 27 are now inserted into the open end faces of the hollow body.
  • FIG. 3 again shows the phase of plugging together. Since the incision 28 does not extend over the entire width of the web, the insertion tongues 27 remain connected to the web 6 laterally. As a result, a simple lateral stability between the side wall 5 and the prismatic hollow bodies 7 is achieved simply by plugging them together.
  • a stable box body is formed without gluing or additional external supports, which can be transported and filled on a packaging line. Only for closing the box is glue applied to the free top 11 of the hollow body and to the web 6.
  • two predetermined tear lines 16 can preferably be arranged in this embodiment, which extend over the corner regions 14 of the cover. When the cover is torn open, these corner regions remain on the web 6 or on the top 11, where they bring about a permanent and firm connection between the web 6 and the top 11.
  • the lid 3 could be attached in other ways instead of glues.
  • the lid could also be attached to the prismatic hollow bodies and / or to the web by staples. With plastic packaging, the lid could be welded.
  • adhesive labels other aids such as banderoles, strapping or shrink sleeves could be used to hold the cover 3 in place.
  • the width of the web 6 depends on the dimension of the packaging and on the contents of the packaging. In certain applications, it is easily conceivable to pull the web 6 over the entire length of the prismatic hollow body 7 so that, for example, the cover 3 can be shortened.
  • the web 6 can, however, also be used for decorative purposes, for example by punching viewing windows out of the web.
  • the web does not necessarily have to be a strip of material with parallel side walls. Rather, the outermost boundary edge of the web directed against the inside of the box could have any configuration.
  • certain packaging inserts can also be inserted before the pre-stabilized box body is filled. For example, corrugated cardboard elements for filling ampoules or similar cylindrical objects.
  • the packaging insert can also be a deep-drawn part or a punched and folded cardboard part.
  • the packaging subdivision is also made from the same blank as the packaging itself.
  • B. connect to one or both fastening tongues 10 a further material section, from which a subdivision is formed which, like the prismatic hollow body, can be folded flat.
  • a subdivision 13 arranged on the fastening tongue 10 is e.g. indicated in Fig. 7.
  • the two prismatic hollow bodies form quiver-like containers, which can also be used in certain applications.
  • an instruction leaflet can be inserted.
  • the shown tear lines have the advantage that glue only has to be applied to the web 6 under the corner regions 14.
  • an insertion tongue 17 is punched into the cover 3, which tongue can be pushed under the web 6 for reclosing after the cover has been opened for the first time.
  • the predetermined tear line could also extend parallel to the web 6 over the entire length of the cover 3. Such a straight formation of the predetermined tear line is preferably carried out with relatively narrow box bodies.
  • FIG. 6 shows a blank 1 in which, as in the blank according to FIG. 2, the prismatic hollow bodies are already glued to the rear wall 2.
  • the cut differs from the cut according to FIG. 2 in that the insertion tongues are formed by an incision 28 in the web 6, which extends over the entire width of the web.
  • the prismatic hollow bodies 7 are again erected first.
  • the insertion tongues 27 are then inserted into the prismatic hollow body, the insertion tongues coming directly under the top 11 of the hollow body.
  • the insertion tongues 27 are preferably slightly beveled at the front in order to facilitate mechanical insertion. Since the incision 28 extends over the entire width of the web 6, the web 6 remains in a vertical position even when the insertion tongues are inserted, or can be folded back into this position. This means that the filling opening of the packaging is optimally accessible from above.
  • the web 6 remaining between the prismatic hollow bodies could also be omitted entirely, so that only the two insertion tongues 27 remain on the side wall 5. In such a case, however, the cover 3 would have to extend beyond the side wall 5 in order to ensure a perfect closure.
  • FIG. 8 shows a blank which is suitable for fastening a packaging insert 32.
  • the two fastening tongues 10 each have a cutout 33. These cutouts are arranged on the side facing the web 6, as can be seen in particular from FIG. 8. The edges of the cutouts form a stop for the packaging insert, as shown in FIG. 9.
  • FIG. 9 shows the packaging insert 32 as a shaft part with a flat bottom 34.
  • the bottom 34 has a folded-over retaining web 35, which runs parallel to the bottom 34 and bears against the rear wall 2.
  • the bottom 34 of the packaging insert lies on the two fastening tongues 10, so that the holding web 35 obviously lies in the same plane as the fastening tongues. Since the holding web 35 engages in the two cutouts 33, it is not possible for the packaging insert to slide out against the side wall 4 with the cover.
  • the packaging insert 32 is secured by the web 6, which is fastened to the prismatic hollow bodies 7.
  • the packaging insert is thus held in place without a direct connection to the blank, which makes it easier to produce the packaging.
  • FIG. 10 shows a filling method in which individual blanks are removed from a roll 26.
  • the blanks are cut off on a cross cutter 23.
  • To fold up the prismatic hollow bodies 7, the blanks are first pressed into an erection die 18 with a punch 25.
  • Erecting matrix is understood to mean any device that erects the prismatic hollow body.
  • the web 6 is folded down and the insertion tongues are pushed into the prismatic hollow body.
  • the packaging stabilized in this way arrives on a vacuum conveyor belt 20 or on a driving chain, where it is fed to a filling station 21. At the filling station, depending on the type and nature of the packaged goods, they reach the packaging by means of suction cups, feed chutes, etc.
  • the web 6 and / or the top of the hollow body is provided with adhesive using adhesive nozzles 19, so that the cover 3 can be folded over and fastened to the web 6.
  • the fully filled and glued packaging can, for example, be fed to an automatic stacking machine 22, which piles up the individual packaging to form a stack 31.
  • the blanks could also be removed from a stack.
  • Parallel side guides 24, which hold the side walls 4 and 5 in an upright position, can be provided along the vacuum conveyor belt 20 or along the driving chain. If the webs 6 have not yet been folded down, the packaged goods can be inserted vertically into the interior of the box from above. In the case of box bodies stabilized by plugging together, it is evident that only one adhesive station is required to glue the lid to the top of the hollow body and to the web. Obviously, in the process example according to FIG. 10, further workstations can be connected upstream, in between or downstream. For example, stations at which the described packaging inlays 32 are inserted or at which packaging additives such as Dehumidifiers etc.
