Definitions

  • the invention relates to a collapsible bench-table combination according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Such a bench-table combination, with legs spread in pairs and consisting essentially of wood, is known from FR Patent 1 193562.
  • the cross bars are loosely placed on pins protruding from the legs.
  • the legs engaging on the same cross member should be towards each other, i.e. be foldable inside.
  • the cross bars have outward shoulders for supporting the pins on the inside, so that the cross bars with the benches have to be raised in order to fold the legs.
  • the legs fold outwards which would have to be assumed due to their spread. Otherwise, the four-link chain formed by the table top, cross bars and legs is unstable as such, quite apart from the fact that the cross bars could be tilted and thus released to release the pin on the opposite side.
  • a bench-table combination which looks similar in use, essentially consisting of wood, is known from US Pat. No. 4,060,275.
  • spread pairs of legs which are hinged to one another by transverse hinges can be folded against one another, while the benches connected to one another by cross bars can be moved into the plane of the table top which is accommodated between them.
  • a strut articulated longitudinally on the table top between the respective pairs of legs must be folded over towards the table top, for which purpose the entire combination is appropriately turned upside down.
  • the benches, together with their cross bars form their own part, which, when in use, rests on additional cross bars that are firmly connected to the legs, but can be lifted off them and u. U. is even separable from the table part.
  • the invention is intended to remedy this. It is therefore based on the task of designing a bench-table combination according to the generic term in such a way that, while retaining the possibility of a rustic design, it is stable, yet easy to handle and foldable to save space.
  • the features in question permit simple folding and re-erection with a high level of stability in use, without the need for cumbersome handling.
  • the individual parts can remain captively connected to each other and are fixed in their respective positions by the upright as well as the folded legs, which especially facilitates transport for storage purposes.
  • a flat plate When folded, a flat plate is obtained that can easily be leaned against a wall or stacked in many copies.
  • a lying down surface for sunbathing or the like can be obtained that offers space for several people next to each other.
  • FR patent document 1 125391 already shows a collapsible bench-table combination in which the individual elements are partially hinged with are inseparably connected in slots laterally displaceable hinge axis, but here the table legs together with the supports for the benches consist of multi-cranked metal tubes, which also form the hinge axes.
  • a rustic look cannot be achieved in this way, quite apart from the fact that this construction, which in turn forms a four-link chain, cannot be stable due to the lack of a strut.
  • the bench-table combination shown consists essentially of a rectangular table top 2 with a substructure formed by two transverse strips 4, four legs 6 and two banks 8 arranged on the long sides of the table, which, on continuous, fixed to the banks cross bars 10 resting, carried by the legs 6.
  • the legs are hinged to the table top 2 via hinge bolts 12, which are able to slide in slots 14 on the underside of the strips 4.
  • the slots 14, which are formed by flat recesses in the strips 4, are covered on the underside by flat iron 16 in order to hold the hinge bolts 12 captively in the slots.
  • the legs 6 are articulated in pairs with the cross bars 10 at about half height via hinge bolts 18.
  • the slots 14 run approximately from the ends of the strips 4 to their central region, so that the relevant inner ends 20 of the legs 6 under the table top 2 when the combination described so far (see FIG. 3) initially collide under the table top 2 capital.
  • the free ends 22 of the table legs do not protrude laterally or at least not significantly beyond the benches 8.
  • each of the cross bars 10 has a corresponding recess 24 on the upper side, which essentially accommodates the relevant strip 4. In this way, a practically continuous flat plate is obtained in the folded state of the combination, as can be seen from FIG. 3.
  • the legs 6 are locked in relation to the cross bars 10 by struts 26 articulated on the legs above the hinge bolts 18, which engage in corresponding notches 28 on the top of the cross bars within the cutouts 24.
  • the hinge bolts 12 are located on the outer ends of the slots 14.
  • the stability and stability of the construction is further improved in that the legs 6 each consist of two the respective cross member 10 and the bar 4 in question between the cheeks 30 and 32 which are connected to one another at the free ends of the legs via web blocks 34 , and that the legs of each long side are connected by longitudinal bars 36. While the web blocks 34 in the collapsed state (FIG. 3) lie on the end face of the cross bars 10, the longitudinal bars 36 are accommodated in corresponding underside recesses 38 at the ends of the cross bars.
  • the struts 26 together with their hinge bolts 40 as well as the hinge bolts 12 and 18 are expediently made of metal in order to give them the desired strength with economical dimensioning.
  • these parts could also be made of hardwood, for example.
  • the combination described can be set up and folded up easily by just one person without turning it upside down and without the use of a tool.
  • the struts 26 only have to be lifted out of their notches 28 one after the other on a long side of the table, after which the legs 6 in question can then already be folded down.
  • only one of the two longitudinal edges 42 of the table top 2 lowers to the height of the benches 8 and, if necessary, a kinked lying surface is obtained which offers space for several people side by side.
  • the combination should the combination be entirely together - i.e. are laid flat, only the struts 26 need to be unhooked on the other side and the legs in question must be folded down.
  • the struts 26 automatically drop into the notches 28 under their own weight, so that the erection can be carried out solely by lifting the table top 2.
