Definitions
- the present invention relates to swords for sailboards or boats which are pivotally mounted in a sword case and which, e.g. from the top of the sailing device, adjustable by foot actuation and locked in one of various positions of use relative to the sword case.
- Sailing boards with such swords are known in various designs (see for example DE-A32 30 795 and FR-A24 61 639). Compared to other well-known sailing boards, they have the particular advantage that the sword can easily be brought into any desired swivel position with the foot during the journey, which it then maintains.
- the purpose of the present invention is therefore to improve and design a generic sword and its storage in such a way that the sword adjustment possibility is achieved in a simple and inexpensive manner and that the adjustment means also practically do not hinder the sailor during his maneuvers and offer no possibility of injury .
- bearing shells are provided in the side walls of the sword case for two stub axles that form the swivel axis of the sword, it has proven to be useful for the bearing shells to support the stub axles in their upper areas so that the locking recesses are provided in the upper edge area of the sword case and that the slide is held in its seat by a tension spring and the latching element is thus releasably latched in a latching recess.
- the tension of the tension spring is selected so that the stub axles are held in the bearing shells with sufficient force in all sword positions.
- the bearing shells are expediently located in the lower region of the sword case, so that there is sufficient length for the tension spring.
- the stub axles are also expediently arranged in the lower front edge area of the sword.
- elastic bands can be provided on the legs of the slider, which are fastened in grooves on the side surfaces of the sword with their other ends.
- the locking recesses are expediently distributed over an area which corresponds approximately to a swivel angle of the sword of 90 °.
- the bearing shells can be arranged in front of the guide grooves on the bow side, so that the stub axles emerge from the bearing shells while overcoming the spring force and can enter the guide grooves when the sword encounters resistance. In this way, damage to the sword during emergence is avoided.
- FIG. 10 Another construction according to the invention of a sword pivotally mounted in a sword case, in which bearing shells for two stub axles forming the pivot axis of the sword are provided in the side walls of the sword case, is characterized by the features of patent claim 10.
- the slide can extend outwards through a longitudinal slot of the cover rail or between the edge strips of the sword case and can be provided with a button for pivoting the sword.
- the actuating element or at least its jacket is made of elastic material, so that the glider can also make adjustments with an unprotected foot without causing pain or even injury.
- guide grooves 3 are provided in the side walls 2 of the sword case 1 which lie opposite one another and run at right angles to the upper and lower edges for two axle journals 4 of the sword 5.
- the bearing shells 6 are open at the bottom and are closed at the top by an approximately semicylindrical wall, the radius of curvature of which corresponds to the radius of the journal 4 in the central region.
- the guide grooves 3 and the bearing shells 6 are delimited by walls parallel to the sword box walls 2, which have approximately the same depths.
- the sword 5 has, for example, a sickle shape, so that the effective sword surface moves when pivoting about the journals 4 located in the bearing shells 6 in the direction of the stern of the sailing board and increasingly takes on the shape of a fin.
- the Achszpafen 4 are located on both sides of the sword 5 below the head area in the area of its front edge.
- a U-shaped slider 9 is connected to the head region of the sword 5 via elastic bands 8 fastened to it on both sides. It consists of the mutually parallel legs 10, 11, which are connected to one another by a web 13. The legs 10, 11 are extended like a flap beyond the web 13, the flap-like extensions being provided with aligned bores in which a bolt 14 projecting on both sides is fastened.
- the sword 5 is provided on its side walls with mutually parallel grooves 15, the longitudinal center lines of which intersect the journal 4. In each of the grooves 15, one of the legs 10, 11 is guided in a longitudinally displaceable manner, the grooves being separated from one another by a central wall 16, the thickness of which corresponds to the distance between the legs 10, 11 from one another. The legs 10, 11 are made so long that they still engage sufficiently far into the grooves 15 in each pivoting position of the sword.
- the laterally projecting parts 17, 18 of the bolt 14 form locking projections which can snap into locking recesses 19 provided on the upper edges of the sword case 1.
- the locking recesses 19 extend essentially radially to the bearing shell 6.
- the middle part of the bolt 14 forms, with the tab-shaped extensions, a connection for an actuating element with which the sword 5 can be pivoted.
- the bands 8 made of rubber or other elastomeric material connecting the slider 9 to the sword 5 are arranged in grooves in the sword and in the legs 10, 11 of the slide 9, so that these do not overhang the grooves.
- the bands 8 have such a large elastic tension that the bearing pins 4 are held securely in the bearing shells 6.
- the length of the bolt 14 is greater than the distance between the side walls delimiting the guide grooves 3, so that the sword 5 cannot be lost because the slide 9 slips through the guide grooves 3.
- guide grooves 22 are provided in the side walls 21 of the sword case 20 which are opposite one another and run at right angles to the upper and lower edges of the sword case and which are closed by rounded wall parts just above the lower edge of the sword case 20, the bearing shells 23 for Form stub axle 24 of the sword 25.
- the sword is provided in its head region with a blind hole 26 in which a slide 27 secured against rotation is displaceably guided. A compression spring 29 is clamped between the slide 27 and the bottom 28 of the blind hole 26.
- the slider 27 has in its upper region, which projects beyond the sword 25, as a latching element, lateral pins 30 which, depending on the pivoting position of the sword, can snap into latching recesses 31, 32, 33, which on the underside of a cover rail 35 of the sword case 20 on both sides of a longitudinal slot are provided.
- the locking recesses 31, 33 securing the end positions are provided on the inside with inclined guiding surfaces, so that the sword can be pivoted slightly towards the center by actuating a button 34 on the slide 27 located above the cover rail.
