Description

The present invention relates to a device providing automatic disinfection of the bowl and the seat of a toilet, before making it available to a user.

At the present time, every person is frequently brought to use toilets for collective use on various occasions of everyday life, for example at work, during trips (either in means of transport such as the train, the boat or the plane, either in the stations or terminals, or still on the road for example in the places of parking or the service stations), or in places of distraction and relaxation (theaters, restaurants, etc. ..). It is important, for obvious hygienic reasons, that these users can always be assured of finding the sanitary appliances of these collective toilets, and in particular the toilet bowls and seats, in perfect condition of cleanliness and disinfection even if, as is most often the case, staff are not available at all times to ensure cleaning.

If, very often, the cleanliness of these sanitary devices is ensured, on the other hand most of the time nothing is done to ensure verifiable disinfection.

It has been proposed to use protective sheets of paper or cellulose mixture, having the shape of the seat, which the user can cover the surface of the seat and which he discards after use. However, this protection has many drawbacks, on the one hand because it does not destroy any infectious germs present on the seat, on the other hand because it only concerns the toilet seat and not the bowl, and also because it is not automatic and can therefore be overlooked or forgotten.

It has also been proposed to fix, inside the folding lid of the toilet seat, a lamp or a tube with ultraviolet rays, the electric power supply of which is automatically controlled as soon as the lid is folded down on the seat and whose radiation is then directed on the surface of the bowl as well as on the seat ensuring sterilization of these parts. Again, however, the drawbacks caused by this device are significant, on the one hand because of the danger presented to the user by ultraviolet radiation and, on the other hand, by the risks of deterioration due to the fragility of the lamps or tubes with ultraviolet rays used.

Document DE-A-26 21 802 describes an automatic disinfection device comprising means for spraying a disinfection liquid carried by the inner face of a cover intended to be folded down on the seat fitted to the toilet seat, these means projection being constituted by a plurality of diffusion heads which follow a network of conduits incorporated in the cover and connected to a reservoir of chemical disinfection under pressure, in order to spray jets of product over the entire internal surface of the bowl and on the upper face of the bezel. The projection of product is controlled automatically for a limited time, when the lid is folded down by controlling the disinfection of the bowl and the bezel. The cover has on its periphery sealing means for its contanct, in the folded position, with the edge of the bowl.

The object of the present invention is to remedy the drawbacks presented by the known devices mentioned above and to this end it proposes a device of great simplicity of manufacture, of low cost price and of high operating efficiency. allowing any user to obtain automatically, without complicated or dangerous maneuver, a total disinfection of the bowl and the seat of the WC equipped with this device.

According to the invention, the automatic device for disinfecting the bowl and the seat of a toilet comprises means for spraying a disinfection liquid which are carried by the inner face of a cover intended to be folded down on the seat fitted to the toilet seat, the said projection means being constituted by a plurality of diffusion heads following a network of conduits incorporated in the cover and connected to a reservoir of chemical disinfection under pressure, in order to spray jets of product over the entire internal surface of the bowl and on the upper face of the bezel, the spraying of the disinfection product being automatically controlled for a limited time when the lid is folded down by controlling the disinfection of the bezel and the bowl, the cover comprising on its periphery sealing means for its contact in the folded position with the edge of the bowl, and this device is characterized e by the fact that it comprises diffusion heads dispersed over the entire interior surface and on the peripheral edge of the cover in order to spray product jets on the seat and on the underside of the seat, and that the means of sealing carried by the cover are constituted by a seal which, in the folded position of the cover, cooperates with the external face of the bowl by preventing any projection towards the outside of disinfectant product.

Advantageously, the hinged cover has, behind its pivot axis, a fixed element in the form of a housing designed to receive the spraying control head from the reservoir of disinfectant product and into which opens one end of a flexible duct intended for adapt to the outlet orifice of said control head while the other end of this conduit coincides, in the folded position of the cover, with the inlet orifice of the conduits formed in the cover. The lower part of this box has an opening in which a neck of the disinfectant product reservoir is engaged by a side door in order to ensure the fixing of the latter, this neck having for this purpose a particular I-shaped profile. upper case is open to allow, when raising the neck circle, at an extension forming a lever integral with this cover, then engaging the mobile head for spraying the reservoir.

Preferably, a disinfectant product is used which is practically instantaneous, for example based on alcohol or on a refrigerant known under the trademark " FREON " (registered trademark), and provision may be made to give the shape of the a certain curvature inward in order to facilitate the flow towards the bowl of the sprayed product on the upper face of the bezel.

It is understood that the cover, when in the raised position, activates by its extension the control head of the disinfectant reservoir, but at this time the inlet orifice of the spray conduits formed in the cover is not located opposite the outlet of the flexible conduit associated with the head of the tank (this outlet is then closed by a solid part of the cover) and the product is therefore not sprayed. When the cover is then folded down, the two holes mentioned above come opposite one another and the spraying is then carried out for a short period of time determined by a spring system which acts on the control head to recall it in the rest position. Thus, in the event that the user does not find, when he arrives, the lid folded down in the disinfection position but raised, it would then suffice for him to close the lid and wait for a very short space of time, of a few seconds, before lifting this cover and then having a bowl and a fully disinfected and perfectly dry scope.

  • la figure 1 est une vue en plan d'une cuvette de W.C. équipée du dispositif de désinfection automatique selon la présente invention;
To clearly understand the device according to the present invention, a preferred embodiment will be described below with reference to the appended schematic drawing in which:
  • Figure 1 is a plan view of a toilet bowl equipped with the automatic disinfection device according to the present invention;
  • Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view of the bowl of Figure 1; and
  • Figure 3 is a side view, partially in section, showing more particularly the automatic actuation device of the disinfectant product tank.

In the drawing there is shown at 1 the toilet bowl on the upper rim or seat 2 from which the folding bezel rests. Around a horizontal axis 4 is articulated, at its rear part, a cover 5 having on its periphery of the flanges allowing this cover, when it is in a folded position shown in Figures 1 and 2, to wrap the bezel 3. On its periphery, the cover 5 has a seal 6 made of a resistant material to the aggression of chemical products, and in particular of disinfection products, and which is designed to come into close contact with the external peripheral surface of the bowl 1 in the folded position of the cover 5.

The cover 5 is made of molded plastic and it comprises, from molding, conduits 7 which open on the internal face of the cover by diffusion heads 8. These heads 8 are arranged on the entire flat inner face of the cover 5 as well that on the inner curved edges thereof so that, when the conduits 7 are supplied with a disinfectant product as will be explained below, the heads 8 spray jets of product which reach the entire interior surface of the bowl 1, the entire seat 2 and all of the upper and lower faces of the seat 3.

All the supply ducts 7 for the diffusion heads 8 lead to a main duct 9 disposed at the rear part of the cover 5 and this main duct 9 opens out through an orifice 10 on an arcuate part 11 of the rear end of the cover 5.

At its rear end, the cover 5 is extended by a fixed part 12 in the form of a housing providing an interior chamber 13, the lower wall 14 of which is open at 15. In this opening 15, the neck of a reservoir 16 containing a product is engaged laterally. disinfectant under pressure, so that the movable head 17 for controlling the ejection of the product is housed inside the chamber 13 while the body of the reservoir 16 extends under the housing 12. The neck of the reservoir 16 has vertical section a particular shape in 1 with upper shoulders 18 and lower 18 'which engage on either side of the lower wall 14. Springs 19 carried by the lower face of the wall 14 engage the shoulder 18' of the reservoir 16 to ensure good maintenance thereof in the position of use. On the side the box 12 is closed by a door, not visible in the drawing, which can advantageously be locked in order to prohibit access to the tank 16, for the purpose of removing the latter, to any person not authorized.

In the front wall of the housing 12 is housed a flexible conduit 20, one end 21 of which opens outwards exactly opposite the orifice 10 of the main conduit 9 of the cover 5, when this cover is in the folded position. The other end of the cover 20 is disposed inside the chamber 13 and comprises a collar 22 intended to engage on the movable head 17 so that the end of the conduit 21 is held facing the orifice of outlet (not shown) formed in the head 17. A spring device (of known type and which has not been shown for clarity of the drawing) makes it possible, when the head 17 has been depressed (in the manner that see later) then released, to recall it in the high position in a predetermined period of time.

At its upper part, the housing 12 comprises, in the axis of the cover 5, a central opening 23 which communicates with the chamber 13 and through which a rear extension 24 of the cover 5 can engage in the chamber 13, when pivoting of the cover from its folded position to its raised position, engaging the movable head 17 and forcing it to sink vertically.

The operation of the device is easily understood from the above description. When the cover 5 is in the raised position, its rear extension 24 pushes the movable head 17 causing the product to be ejected through the conduit 20. However, as the outlet orifice 21 of this conduit is then closed by the part full arc 11 of the cover 5, the product is not diffused in the conduits 9 and 7 of this cover. When the cover 5 is then folded down on the bowl, the part 14 of this cover releases the head 17 which rises slowly under the action of the return spring. At the same time, the orifice 10 of the conduit 9 comes opposite the end 21 of the conduit 20 which allows, until the head 17 has returned to its high rest position, the diffusion through the conduits 7 and the heads 8 of jets of disinfectant which, due to the appropriate arrangement of the heads 8, reach the entire inner surface of the bowl 1, the surface of the seat 2 and the lower and upper faces of the bezel 3. The latter is provided to present over its entire surface an inclined profile, directed inward, thereby facilitating the flow in the bowl 1 of any excess disinfectant sprayed on the upper face of this scope. The seal 6, provided on the periphery of the cover 5, prevents any diffusion towards the outside of the disinfection product.

A few seconds after having closed the cover 5, the head 17 is automatically returned to the rest position by cutting off the emission of product and, as the disinfectant used is advantageously based on volatile product such as alcohol, the sanitary appliances are immediately dry and can be used immediately.

When the tank 16 is empty and you want to change it, just open the side door of the housing 12, apply an upward push on the tank 16 to cancel the action of the springs 19 and then slide the sideways neck of this reservoir outside the housing 12. The collar 22 is then removed which is adapted to the movable head of a full reservoir to be used, then the process is carried out in reverse to place a new reservoir in the position of use.

It will be understood that the above description has been given only by way of example, without limitation, and that additions or constructive modifications could be made without departing from the scope of the invention as it is defined by the claims. In particular, the disinfecting product used could be of any suitable composition and include additives such as deodorant materials. It will also be understood that, without departing from the invention, provision could be made to inject, via the channels and the spray heads formed in the folding lid, air or water (with the possible addition of a product cleaning) by connecting the inlet port of the main duct 9 of the cover 5 to the flushing power system.
