Abstract

In this ridge or hip covering, flexible sealing strips (9) are arranged between the covering caps (7) fastened to the ridge or hip board (6) of the roof structure and the roofing tiles (3). In order that the sealing strips (9) can universally be used with the most different roofing tiles and roof pitches, they comprise a flexible supporting strip (10) which is provided on one or both longitudinal edges (11) with a comblike edge part (12) of elastically deformable material, the teeth (12a) of which are connected with an edge strip (13) of flexible material which bridges the tooth spaces allowing the teeth to spread, whereby the outer longitudinal edge (14) of the edge strip adapts to the contour of the upper side of the roofing tiles (3) lying below it. If with the sealing strips (9) both a sealing against rain and driving snow and a ventilation of the roof space is to be made possible, an air-permeable bonded fabric, in particular of polyester or polyamide fibres, can be used for the edge strip (13). A ventilation is also made possible if the supporting strip (10) has in its part, which is situated at the side of the ridge or hip board (6), ventilation apertures and is provided with upright supports for the covering caps (7).

Description

The invention relates to a ridge or ridge cover for roofs covered with roofing panels according to the preamble of claim 1.

A ridge or ridge cover of this type is known from EP-A-0 042 539.

In another known ridge or ridge cover (DE-U-1 967871), the sealing strips arranged between the cover caps and the roof covering panels are fastened to the ridge or ridge plank of the roof and have a curved cross-sectional shape which is adapted to the inside of the cover caps. Since the two edges of these sealing strips, in order to achieve a good seal, should fit snugly against the top of the edges of the roof covering plates facing the ridge, differently designed sealing strips must be kept in stock for the different forms of roof covering plates. Even more problematic is an exact adaptation of the edges of these sealing strips to the tops of the roof covering plates when using the sealing strips as a ridge seal, since the contact area for the edges of the sealing strips in the region of the ridges not only depends on the shape of the roof covering plates, but also on the roof pitch is.

The invention has for its object to provide a ridge or ridge cover of the type in question so that it can be used universally with a wide variety of roofing panels and with a wide variety of roof pitches.

This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1.

A sealing strip designed in this way fits well due to the expandability of the comb-like edge part made of elastic material and the tooth gap bridging edge strip made of flexible material to a wide variety of surfaces, whereby this sealing strip is used universally for roofing with any roofing panels and ' with any roof pitch can. Both sealing strips that are provided with the sealing edge according to the invention only on one side can be used here, since two similar sealing strips can be arranged in a manner known per se in a manner known as mirror images for double-sided ridge or ridge sealing, as well as sealing strips that are provided with a sealing edge on both sides and that are easier and more economical to manufacture.

It is known to use a plastic cover strip for a ridge cover (DE-A-2 707 384), which is to be fastened to a doubled roof batten at the ridge apex and the longitudinal edges of which are toothed like a comb, the teeth being on the ridge-side roof covering panels nestle. In this version, ventilation in the ridge area should be guaranteed. However, a satisfactory sealing of the ridge area cannot be achieved with profiled roofing panels due to the partial spreading of the teeth and the resulting leaky areas.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention it is provided that the comb-like edge part has a uniform toothing and the edge strip is attached to the teeth of the edge part in such a way that equally large sections of the edge strip are formed to bridge the tooth gaps.

According to a further embodiment of the invention, the edge strip consists of a wavy profiled material and is fastened to the teeth of the comb-like edge part with the wave crests. It is hereby achieved that the sections of the edge strip located between the teeth are curved in the direction of the roofing panels, whereby a consistently good contact with the top of the underlying roofing panels is achieved.

The edge strip can be connected to the teeth of the comb-like edge part in different ways. However, the edge strip is preferably welded or glued to the teeth of the edge part.

If it is provided that the width of the edge strip corresponds to the width of the comb-like edge part, it is achieved that the edge strip is supported up to its outer longitudinal edge by the teeth of the edge part and is thus held in contact with the roof covering plates underneath even in strong winds.

In principle, the use of the sealing strips designed according to the invention is possible for all known roof covering plates if the stretched length of the edge strip is 1.25 to 2.5 times the comb-like edge part. Sealing strips, in which the ratio of the stretched length of an edge strip to the length of the comb-like edge part lies in the lower part of the range mentioned, are sufficient for less strongly profiled roofing panels, while sealing strips are advantageously selected for those with stronger profiles, in which the ratio of the stretched length of the Edge strip to the length of the edge part is in the upper part of the range mentioned. A sealing strip which is well suited for the majority of the known roofing sheets is obtained if the stretched length of the edge strip is twice the comb-like edge part.

In the sealing strip provided according to the invention, the carrier strip, the comb-like edge part and the edge strip can consist of a weather-resistant and aging-resistant plastic. Sealing strips are suitable in which, for example, the carrier strip and the comb-like edge part consist of hard PVC and the edge strip consist of soft PVC. If both the sealing strip against rain and flying snow and the roof space are to be ventilated with the sealing strip according to the invention, this can be achieved if the carrier strip and the comb-like edge part made of hard PVC and the edge strip made of an air-permeable nonwoven material, in particular polyester. or polyamide fibers. Ventilation is also made possible if the carrier strip has ventilation openings in its part to the side of the ridge or ridge plank and is provided with upstanding supports for the cover caps. Sealing strips in which the material thickness of the carrier strip and of the comb-like edge part are 0.6 to 1.5 mm, in particular 1.00 mm, and the material thickness of the edge strip 0.05 to 0.5 mm, in particular 0.15 mm, are particularly suitable , is.

A particularly expedient cross section for a sealing strip results from claim 13.

As shown in Fig. 1, the roof battens 2 are attached to the rafters 1, which in turn carry the roofing sheets 3. A ridge plank support 4 is also attached to the rafters and has a U-shaped extension 5 for receiving a ridge plank 6 at its upper section. The upper end of the ridge is formed by cover caps 7 which are each fastened to the ridge plank 6 by means of encompassing brackets 8. An approximately 1.50 m long sealing strip 9 is arranged between the cover caps 7 and the roof covering plates 3, which has an elastically flexible carrier strip 10, of which the middle part 10a rests on the ridge screed 6 and is fastened to it by the clips 8. A comb-like edge part 12 adjoins the longitudinal edges 11 of the carrier strip 10, the teeth 12a of which are connected to one another via a flexible edge strip 13 which, with its outer longitudinal edge 14 and partly also with a wider edge area, conforms to the top of the roofing panels 3 .

Dabei erfolgt im Bereich der Wülste 3a der Dacheindeckungsplatten 3 eine Abspreizung der Zähne 12a unter gleichzeitiger Streckung der zwischen den Zähnen befindlichen Abschnitte 13a der Randstreifen 13, während im Bereich der zwischen den Wülsten 3a befindlichen ebenen Teile 3b der Dacheindeckungsplatten 3 eine Abspreizung der Zähne 12a und eine Streckung der Abschnitte 13a der Randstreifen 13 nicht erfolgt.2 shows that the middle part 10a of the carrier strip 10, which rests on the ridge plank 6 and is fastened there by means of a clamp 8, projects upwards without a cover and forms the side parts 10b and which, when covered by the cover caps 7 are pressed down so that the edge strips 13 of the sealing strip 9 connected to the teeth 12a nestle with their longitudinal edges 14 onto the roof covering plates 3 lying underneath. In the area of the beads 3a of the roof covering panels 3, the teeth 12a are spread apart while simultaneously stretching the sections 13a of the edge strips 13 located between the teeth, while in the area of the flat parts 3b of the roof covering panels 3 located between the beads 3a, the teeth 12a and the sections 13a of the edge strips 13 are not stretched.

As can be seen in FIG. 3 for an edge section of the sealing strip 9 according to FIG. 2, which has not yet been pressed onto the top of a roofing panel 3, in a section along the line AA, the flexible edge strips 13 of the sealing strip consist of a corrugated material, the profile of which is such the tooth pitch of the comb-like edge parts is adapted so that the edge strips 13 each rest with their wave crests on the teeth 12a and can be fastened to it by gluing or welding and project downwards with their wave troughs between the teeth 12a and form sections 13a of equal size which spread apart enable the teeth 12a.

In a fully covered roof, as shown in Fig. 4, the sealing strips 9 are covered continuously by overlapping covering caps 7, so that only the eaves-side part of the flexible edge strips 13 of the sealing strips between the longitudinal edges of the covering caps 7 and the underlying roofing panels 3 from is visible on the outside.

In FIG. 5, a sealing strip 9 'is provided with a carrier strip 10' which, like the sealing strip 9 in FIG. 1, has a central part 10a 'resting on the ridge or ridge plank 6, but the side parts 10b' of the same Ventilation openings 15 are provided. Each ventilation opening is surrounded by a raised edge 16 to prevent rainwater from flowing into the unsealed joints between the overlapping ends to prevent the caps 7 from entering. The lateral parts 10b 'of the carrier strip 10' are pressed down by the cover caps 7 via supports 17 formed thereon, which protrude beyond the edges 16 of the ventilation openings 15, so that ventilation of the roof space, as indicated by the arrows, is made possible.

As can be seen in FIG. 6, in the case of the sealing strip 9 ', the ventilation openings 15 provided in the lateral parts 10b' of the carrier strip 10 'are arranged at regular intervals in the longitudinal direction of the roof, and the upstanding supports 17 are located in the middle between two ventilation openings, so that the lateral parts 10b 'are pressed down along their entire length by the cover caps 7 and allow continuous ventilation of the roof space, while at the same time, as in the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 4, by the flexible edge strips 13 connected to the comb-like edge parts 12 the ingress of rain and flying snow is prevented.
