Description

The invention relates to a device for stuffing cigarette tobacco into prefabricated cigarette tubes, preferably filter-cigarette tubes, with a funnel-shaped tobacco storage container provided at its mouth with a tobacco cutting and dosing device, a tobacco rod molding device arranged below the storage container, the molding device and the Dosing device can be actuated by a drive device and in which a side outlet is provided for the shaped tobacco rod, and a cigarette tube filling tube is attached to the side of the tobacco rod outlet.

In the case of such cigarette tamping devices, it is necessary to form a strand from a fine-fiber tobacco supply and to insert it into the cigarette tube. The cigarette tobacco present in an initially coherent ball must be crushed and then formed into a coherent, thin strand in order to prevent the embers from crumbling off during the smoking process.

Manually operated cigarette tamping devices are known, for example from US-A-35 09 887, in which the tobacco supply (ball) is first rectified by hand and portioned - in relation to the amount of tobacco required for a single cigarette - into an elongated, bowl-shaped molding device is introduced. Then a pressure bowl is pressed onto the preformed tobacco rod and the tobacco is pressed into a round tobacco rod. By means of a manually operated lever device, the preformed tobacco rod is then pressed into a cigarette tube which is attached to a holder and held in place by a pressure element.

With these devices, however, to achieve a coherent tobacco rod, it is necessary to precisely portion the amount of tobacco introduced into the device and to preform the tobacco fibers in a coherent manner manually. If too little tobacco is introduced or the tobacco fibers of the strand are not connected, it often happens that the embers fall off the cigarette during the smoking process.

The resulting fire risks and annoyances due to extinguished cigarettes are manifold, clearly visible and are not to be explained in detail here. Another disadvantage of the known devices can be seen in the fact that a variety of manual processes have to be carried out to produce cigarettes, which make the production of a larger number, for example the daily requirement f s of a smoker, of optimally stuffed cigarettes complex and difficult.

From US-A-2 633 133 a cigarette stuffing device is known which is provided with a funnel-shaped tobacco storage container and wherein a tobacco cutting device is provided in the lower region of the container. In the known device, the tobacco is grasped by a wire spindle which can be rotated by means of a hand crank and is transported into a filling tube attached to the side of the container. The empty cigarette tube to be filled is pushed onto this filling tube, with tobacco being transported through the filling tube into the tube when the spindle rotates.

When the tobacco is cut up, a rotatable shaft is provided in the storage container above the transport spindle, which shaft is provided with finger-like projections which engage between spaced resilient tongues.

However, since the tobacco introduced into the storage container is often relatively coarse impurities / admixtures such. B. contains coarse tobacco fibers, tobacco stems, etc., it often comes to blockages in the known device or blockages at the filling tube entrance. This disadvantage is particularly serious when a cigarette tamping device is not to be operated manually (hand crank) - as in the device known from US-A-2 633 133 - but is to be driven by a motor and when a large number of cigarette tubes are automatically tamped one after the other shall be. The present invention is therefore based on the object, while avoiding the aforementioned disadvantages of known arrangements, of creating a device for stuffing cigarette tobacco into prefabricated cigarette tubes, a continuously firmly connected tobacco rod being shaped and inserted into the cigarette tube, in which manual portioning, Shredding and pre-sorting of the tobacco to be processed is not necessary, and in which a tobacco cutting and dosing device is designed in such a way that blockages or blockages of the device can be avoided with certainty even with tobacco provided with coarse additives. This object is achieved in that the tobacco cutting and metering device is arranged in a slot-shaped mouth formed at the lower end of the storage container and is designed as a knife shaft.

Further advantageous embodiments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims 2 to 34 and explained in more detail. The advantages achieved by the invention consist in particular in the fact that a device for stuffing cigarettes has been created in which the tobacco is poured into the storage container of the device practically without manual pretreatment, automatically defibrated in the device and fed to a tobacco rod shaping device is formed in which a tightly connected tobacco rod and is automatically inserted into a cigarette tube.

The device is preferably driven by a single electric motor, so that after the tobacco has been poured in and fed the engine, a smoke-ready, optimally stuffed cigarette is pushed out of the device. Further advantageous embodiments of the invention provide that even a larger number of cigarettes can be created automatically, one after the other.

The device shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 for stuffing cigarette tobacco in filter cigarette tubes is shown without an outer housing for the sake of clarity, only the parts essential for understanding the present invention being shown in the drawing.

The device essentially consists of the funnel-shaped storage or filling container 1, the pin shaft 2, the tobacco storage room 3, the tobacco rod shaping device 4, and the filling pipe 5.

In the passage area between the filling container and the tobacco storage room, a round bar grate 6 is provided, which is formed from the individual round bars 7 arranged at a mutual spacing. The pin shaft 2 is arranged below this round bar grate, so that the pins 8, when the pin shaft rotates, reach successively through the spaces 9 of the round bar grate, grasp the tobacco located in the filling container, and transport them through the slots of the grate into the tobacco storage room. The tobacco, which may initially be present in a coherent skein, is equalized, so that a quantity of tobacco with a fine fiber structure is subsequently present in the tobacco storage room.

In addition to the pin shaft, a scraper plate 10 is arranged in the tobacco storage space, which is provided with wedge-shaped slots 11, through which the pins of the pin shaft are moved as they rotate and tobacco fibers hanging on the pins are stripped off. Tobacco fibers that were once transported to the tobacco storage room are therefore not returned to the storage container. At the bottom of the tobacco storage room 3, which is designed as an elongated funnel tapering towards the bottom, the tobacco rod shaping device 4 is provided, which essentially consists of a half-shell-shaped shaped plate 12 and the transport spring 13 rotatably arranged therein. The shaped sheet 12 and the funnel walls 14 can optionally be bent from a one-piece sheet material. The shaped plate 12 lies close to the transport spring 13, i. H. the transport spring rotates in a tub that is open at the top.

The tobacco storage room is provided in the lower region, in the extension of the tobacco rod shaping device, with a lateral outlet 15 to which the filling tube 5 is attached. One end of the transport spring protrudes into the filling tube and closes with its front edge 16.

At the wall end of the filling tube there is a pressure device 17 for the cigarette tube 18, which covers approximately 1/3 of the cigarette tube pushed onto the filling tube.

Furthermore, a cigarette tube shaping device 19 is arranged at the beginning of the filling tube 16, which essentially consists of a shaped piece with a cylindrical bore 20 and a conical insertion opening 21, the bore diameter corresponding to the outside diameter of the cigarette tube. By means of this shaping device, the cigarette tubes to be pushed onto the filling tube, which are often slightly deformed due to the thin paper material of the cigarette tubes, i. H. are out of round, oval, brought into a precise round shape so that they can be easily pushed onto the filling tube.

The pin shaft 2 and the transport spring 13 are preferably driven by the motor 22, the pin shaft being driven via a gear mechanism 23 at a rotational speed which is preferably approximately 1.8 to 2 times greater than the rotational speed of the transport spring. In any case, the two speeds are coordinated so that just as much tobacco is transported into the storage space as is also grasped by the transport spring, formed into a strand and pushed into the cigarette tube.

If necessary, provision can be made for a small tobacco supply to be introduced into the tobacco storage room 3 when the device is started up for the first time, in order to ensure, even at the start of the first tamping process, that there is sufficient tobacco supply for the continuous shaping of the tobacco rod in the storage room.

The individual components of the cigarette plug Devices are built on a common base plate 24 in the present embodiment. This arrangement is only to be seen here as an example of an embodiment; modifications are possible without departing from the scope of the invention, but are not to be explained further here.

The pin shaft 2 shown in FIG. 4 essentially consists of a round shaft, into which the pins 8 are inserted along a helical line 25 such that when the pin shaft rotates, only one pin of the shaft is between the round bars 7 of the round bar grate 6, or in the respective slot 11 of the scraper plate 10. As a result, the tobacco is evenly gripped and frayed, while at the same time requiring little power to drive the pin shaft.

In Fig. 6, the transport spring 13 is shown enlarged and its essential for the formation of a coherent tobacco rod features are explained below. The transport spring is preferably made of a sharp-edged square material and has three main areas A, B and C.

The area «A is cylindrical and has a diameter of approx. 10 mm. This area, which lies in the half-shell-shaped molded sheet 12 when the transport spring is inserted in the device, is used for the first tobacco receptacle when the transport spring is rotating. The pitch S 1 of the spring turns in this area is approximately 5 mm. This ensures that the tobacco fibers can easily enter the windings of the spring and thus the interior of the transport spring. The relatively large slope in connection with the large diameter prevents a cavity from forming between the top of the transport spring and the tobacco supply located above.

The area “B” forms the inlet zone into the filling tube 5. Here the spring diameter decreases continuously from 10 mm to approx. 5 mm. The length of this area is approximately 10 mm. As a result of this tapering and the rotation of the transport spring, the tobacco fibers, in connection with the filler tube geometry of this area (conical-oval), are connected in this area to form a coherent strand and are compressed in terms of diameter.

The area “C is the area which is provided in the interior of the cylindrical part of the filling tube. The spring diameter is smaller here than in area A, namely approx. 5 mm in the present example. The pitch S 2 of the spring turns is also smaller here, namely only 3 mm. This ensures that the tobacco rod which is initially only loosely preformed in region A and which is shaped to a smaller diameter in region B is also compressed in the longitudinal direction, so that a firmly connected tobacco rod is formed. It should also be mentioned that in this embodiment the inner diameter of the filling tube is approximately 7 mm, ie there is an all-round air gap of approximately 1 mm between the transport spring and the filling tube wall.

It should also be explained in relation to the above dimensions that these relate to an exemplary embodiment in which cigarette tubes are used which have a diameter of approximately 8 mm. However, the invention is not limited to such cigarette tubes, but can also easily be used with other tube diameters while maintaining the principle, the specified dimensions possibly having to be adapted to these dimensions.

The fill tube is made of a thin-walled material, such as stainless steel, brass, bronze or plastic. The inlet area 26 has a conical-oval shape, while the main area 27 is cylindrical.

The end region 28 is conical and round. The conical-oval design of the inlet area ensures that the tobacco rod enters the filler pipe without jamming. The slightly conical end region 28 enables the cigarette tube to slide easily onto the filling tube itself. Furthermore, the conical design of the end region also results in a further compression of the emerging tobacco rod in the inner diameter of the filling tube in this region, as a result of which an optimal strand flow retention and a more uniform Feed of the tobacco rod is reached.

In the following, the filling process of a cigarette tube, ie the work flow of the device for stuffing cigarette tobacco in cigarette tubes, is explained in a coherent manner. First of all, the cigarette tobacco to be processed is filled into the filling container 1 from a bag or storage container. It is not necessary to crumble the tobacco down to its individual fibers, but rather, of course, within certain limits, coherent balls can also be filled in. A filter-cigarette tube 18 is then completely pushed onto the filling tube 5. Due to the sleeve-forming device 19, through which the cigarette tube is pushed, oval-shaped cigarette tubes are optionally formed to be exactly round, so that they can be easily pushed onto the filling tube. In the end position of the cigarette tube, a pressure device 17 presses a front region of approximately 1/3 of the length of the cigarette tube against the filling tube and clamps the tube lightly. This pressure force can be adjusted by means of an adjusting device, not shown here, in order to be able to individually adjust the cigarette's resistance to stopping, which depends on the tobacco quality (structure, moisture, etc.). Then the drive motor 22 is turned on. This can be done automatically by means of suitable sensing devices when the cigarette tube is completely pushed on and clamped, or manually by means of a push button switch or the like. respectively.

When the motor 22 is started, the pin shaft 2 and the transport spring 13 rotate. The rotating pin shaft detects the tobacco in the filling container and conveys it through the round bar grate 6 into the tobacco storage room 3. The tobacco is finely shredded so that the tobacco entering the store is here in the form of individual tobacco fibers. The tobacco fibers stand out, or in the transport spring, are grasped by this and wound into the interior thereof. The use of square-edged material for the transport spring has proven to be particularly favorable, since this enables the tobacco fibers to be gripped and transported better than with transport springs made from round material.

Due to the gradient of the transport spring coils, the tobacco fibers inside the spring are twisted and transported from area A with a larger spring diameter to area C with a smaller spring diameter. As already explained in detail above, the tobacco is compressed and a firmly connected tobacco rod is formed. As soon as the tobacco rod emerges from the filling tube, at the end 28 of which it is compressed again at this point by the conical design of the filling tube, the tobacco rod presses against the filter end of the cigarette tube and, as the tobacco emerges from the filling tube, presses it into the cigarette tube and the tube itself on the filling pipe to the front. The pressure of the pressure device 17 ensures that the tobacco is pressed firmly into the cigarette tube in the first third of the filling area. In the further filling process (remaining 2/3), the special pressure of the cigarette tube on the filling tube is no longer necessary, since it has been found that the strength of the tobacco rod which continues to escape is sufficient, so that the cigarette's resistance to stopping is sufficient even without further special measures . The arrangement of the pressure device described has proven to be particularly advantageous in order to achieve a uniform filling of the cigarette tube.

As the filling of the cigarette tube progresses, it is gradually pushed down from the filling tube until the completely filled cigarette tube at the end of the filling tube can be removed. This time can be detected and the drive can be switched off by suitable sensing devices, which are not shown in detail here. A new cigarette tube can then be pushed onto the filling tube and filled in the same way.

Einfüllbehälter 1', dem Tabakvorratsraum 3', der Tabakstrang-Formeinrichtung 4' sowie dem Füllrohr 5'.8, 9, 10, a device for stuffing cigarette tobacco in cigarette tubes is shown in a modified form and is described in more detail below. This device also essentially consists of the funnel-shaped storage or filling container 1 ', the tobacco storage room 3', the tobacco rod shaping device 4 'and the filling tube 5'.

A knife shaft 30 is provided in the passage area 29 between the filling container 1 'and the tobacco storage space 3'. The shaft is provided with spirally arranged cutting edges 31 and tobacco receptacle recesses 32 formed in front of the cutting edges as seen in the direction of rotation of the shaft. The side walls 33 of the lower end of the filling container in the area of the knife shaft are adjustably attached to the upper funnel wall, so that the passage gap between the knife shaft and the side wall is adjustable.

The tobacco storage room 3 'is provided in its lower region with a rectangular, elongated trough 34 which is open at the top and in which the tobacco rod shaping device 4' is arranged. The tobacco rod shaping device here essentially consists of a two-part spring arrangement (see also FIG. 13), an outer cylindrical spring 35 having a large diameter and a large pitch of the spring windings being provided, in the interior of which there is an inner cylindrical spring 36 having a smaller diameter and also a smaller pitch of the spring windings. The diameter of the outer spring corresponds approximately to the width of the tub 34 in which the spring is rotatably arranged, and the length of the spring corresponds to the length of the tub, i. H. the width of the tobacco store. The inner spring 36 penetrates the entire length of the outer spring and protrudes out of the latter on the filling tube side. The total length of the inner spring is dimensioned such that when the device is assembled it closes with the front edge of the filler tube 5 'or, if necessary, also protrudes slightly. The diameter of this thinner spring corresponds to the inner diameter of the filler tube, so that it can be rotated in the filler tube with slight lateral play.

The spring 35 as well as the spring 36 are made of sharp-edged square material, the cross section of the spring material of the larger spring preferably being larger than the cross section of the spring material of the thinner spring. (e.g. outer spring 35 made of square spring wire with an edge length of approx. 1.3 mm and inner spring 36 made of square spring wire with approx. 1 mm edge length).

B. Motor 22') angetrieben. Both springs are pushed onto attachments of the drive shaft 37 which are designed in accordance with their diameters and are fastened here. At the opposite end it can be provided that the larger spring is rotatably mounted on a corresponding extension 38. In this embodiment of the device, the transport springs 35, 36 and the metering shaft 30 are also driven by a common drive element (for example motor 22 ') via a gear mechanism 23'.

As can be seen from FIGS. 14, 15, the filling pipe is also provided with a conical inlet area 26 ', which, however, is preferably rectangular here and is in the round, cylindrical part of the filling tube passes continuously. In addition, the filling tube is provided with longitudinally extending grooves 39 in its inner region.

As already mentioned above, the transport spring diameter of the part of the spring extending into the filling tube is dimensioned such that the transport spring can be rotated with lateral play in the filling tube. The grooves 39 in the filling tube inner wall serve to improve the flow behavior of the tobacco rod to be conveyed. A slight conical bevel 28 'of the filling tube end makes it easier to push the cigarette tubes onto the filling tube.

In the execution acc. 8, a carriage 40 is also provided, which is arranged on a slide rail 41 so as to be longitudinally displaceable. The carriage has a receiving trough 42 with an end stop 43 for cigarette tubes, in which the cigarette tube is guided such that its axis is aligned with the axis of the filling tube. The carriage is displaced in the direction of the filling tube for the purpose of pushing the cigarette tube onto the filling tube either by hand or by means of a motor drive (not shown here).

Furthermore, an easily displaceable molding and centering part 44 is provided on the filling tube 5 '. The shaped and centering part is shown in FIG. 16 as an individual part and essentially consists of an annular guide sleeve 45, the bore 46 of which is dimensioned such that the sleeve can be moved easily on the filling tube. On the sleeve thin, resilient tongues 47 are attached, which spring together in a conical tip in front of the filling tube in the initial position of the shaped and centering part (part 44 pushed forward, sleeve is still on the filling tube). A driving device 48 for the forced displacement of the shaped and centering part, which has the spaced stops 49 and 50, is mechanically coupled to the carriage 40.

To slide the cigarette tube 18 onto the filling tube, the carriage 40 with the cigarette tube located thereon is moved in the direction of the filling tube. The tip formed from the resilient tongues of the molded and centering part dips somewhat into the cigarette tube opening and the stop 50 of the entrainment device comes to rest on the sleeve of the molded and centering part. As the slide-on process continues, the cigarette tube and the shaped and centering part are simultaneously moved to the right (based on the representation in FIGS. 8, 9). By further sliding the molded and centering part onto the filling tube, the resilient tongues 47 are bent outwards through the filling tube passing through and press the cigarette tube opening, into which they are somewhat immersed, as already explained above, into an exactly round shape. When the carriage is moved further, the cigarette tube is pushed onto the filling tube and the shaped and centering part is also moved to the right end position. The ends of the spring tongues are located in the front area of the cigarette tube, between the tube and the filling tube. It goes without saying that the spring tongue ends are extremely thin and their shape is adapted to the curvature of the cigarette tube or the filling tube. In order to avoid excessive widening and possible tearing of the paper sleeve, it can be provided that the fill tube is provided with recessed outer longitudinal grooves into which the spring tongue ends dip when pushed onto the fill tube.

After the cigarette tube has now been pushed completely onto the filling tube, the drive of the tobacco rod shaping device 4 'is started and the tobacco rod emerging from the filling tube enters the cigarette tube. As the filling of the cigarette tube progresses, it is gradually pushed off the filling tube, the slide 40 being simultaneously displaced. The shaped and centering part is also moved towards the filling tube start by engaging the stop 49 on the sleeve 44.

An adjustable brake spring 51 acting on the slide rail 41 is provided on the slide, the stop resistance of the tobacco introduced into the cigarette tube being individually adjustable by the adjustable braking force.

As soon as the cigarette tube is completely filled and pushed completely down from the filling tube, the drive of the tobacco rod shaping device is switched off and, if necessary, briefly put into operation in the opposite direction. By turning the transport spring 36 backwards, the tobacco rod is turned off at the beginning of the filling tube and separated from the cigarette filling. It has been found that an end of the transport spring 36 which projects slightly beyond the end of the filling pipe has a favorable effect on the separation of the tobacco rod. There is now a ready-to-smoke cigarette available, on the front end of which is tapped by means of a magnet-operated tapping device, if necessary, in order to knock on any protruding tobacco fibers. After the cigarette has been removed from the guide carriage 40, an empty cigarette tube can be placed on the carriage and can also be filled in the manner described above.

Although the supply of empty cigarette tubes and the removal of finished cigarettes can be done manually, for the sake of completeness it should also be mentioned here that a feed device for the automatic supply of cigarette tubes from a supply on the transport carriage, as well as an automatic removal of finished cigarettes from the slide in a collecting container can be provided, the drive of these feed and discharge devices being able to take place via a gear connection from the drive motor 22, 22 'or also by means of a separate drive motor and the control of the individual processes by recording the respective operating states of the device by means of suitable sensing devices (microswitches, light barriers, etc.) and electrically linking and controlling the workflow.

All the features mentioned in the above description and / or shown in the drawing should, insofar as the known prior art permits, be regarded as essential to the invention on their own or in any combinations or partial combinations, even if they are not in the claims are included.
