Description

The invention relates to an adjusting device for the ink knife on the ink fountain of rotary printing presses with individually controllable zone-wide tongues, on which actuating means for adjusting the distance of the scraper edge from the ink fountain roller act, and which are covered with an elastic plastic cover with a smooth surface, which covers the Skimming edge extends beyond.

A known embodiment of this type (US Pat. No. 2,837,024) uses a thin spring steel knife in which a rubber or plastic cover is vulcanized in the area of the slots. The known embodiment has the disadvantage that the cover in the area of the slits is pressed off the ink fountain roller by the back pressure of the ink, so that an uncontrolled ink strip reaches the inking unit. In addition, the wear behavior of the cover and the spring steel knife is different, so that this can also lead to sealing problems on the ink fountain roller. A major disadvantage of the known design is that the printer cannot determine how hard he places the individual zone on the ink fountain roller by means of the adjusting screws when the ink zone is switched off, so that higher wear is to be expected. In this case the color knife has to be reground or it cannot be used together with the vulcanized cover. This increases the effort and thus the costs for the practical use of the known design. In the known embodiment, a basic setting of all scraper edges is very complex.

Another known design (EP-A 21 002) shows an ink metering device in which no ink meter is provided on the ink fountain. Adjustments are used here, which are supported by a film on the ink fountain roller and which can be adjusted by twisting or moving. The film shown here only has to be elastic in order to adapt to the metering areas and their design.

The object of the invention is to design an adjusting device for the color knife in such a way that an optimal ink quantity regulation can be carried out with little effort and that the necessary adjustment work only requires a very short expenditure of time during assembly. Soiling of the adjusting means on the ink fountain by paint should also be avoided.

The object is achieved in that each tongue of the ink knife can be positioned from a uniform zero position via an eccentric actuating element, which is pivotally mounted on the ink fountain about a pivot point that can be adjusted to produce a uniform zero position that the ink knife is zoned in the area of its scraping edge is divided by slots with a width of less than 1 mm and that the cover consists of a thin, hard and elastic film.

With the setting device designed according to the invention, the ink quantity to be transferred to the inking unit can be set precisely in each zone with little effort. The individual tongues of the color meter can be set very precisely using a remote control so that the amount of color can be regulated without any problems. The uniform zero position that can be achieved by means of adjusting means prevents the zones from being set too hard and thus prevents the film from being worn out unintentionally. This also has advantages for the remote control, because the zero position enables reproducible control of all ink meter zones. Very narrow slits in the color knife allow the use of thin foils without bulging into the slits.

The smooth surface of the film prevents dirt particles from sticking in front of the metering gap. The film protruding over the scraper edge certainly prevents parts of the actuating device from getting dirty with paint and has low wear behavior at the metering edge. Nevertheless, e.g. incorrect handling of the paint spatula, damage to the film can then be easily replaced and the new film immediately returns to its original zero position.

The advantageous embodiment according to claim 2 enables the use of very thin foils, with the bending of the ink creeping along the foil feeding the ink fountain roller, so that dripping of the same is excluded with certainty.

Claims 3 to 6 contain advantageous refinements of the subject matter of the invention, which facilitate the operation of the color knife and the setting device and make it safer.

  • Fig. 1 eine Seitenansicht eines Offsetdruckwerkes,
  • Fig. 2 einen Teilquerschnitt durch einen Farbkasten und
  • Fig. 3 eine Draufsicht auf Folie und Farbmesser.
An embodiment of the invention is shown schematically in the drawings. It shows:
  • 1 is a side view of an offset printing unit,
  • Fig. 2 shows a partial cross section through an ink fountain and
  • Fig. 3 is a plan view of the film and color knife.

In the side view of an offset printing unit shown in FIG. 1, the sheets to be printed are passed between printing cylinder 1 and blanket cylinder 2 in a known manner. The rubber cylinder 2 works together with a plate cylinder 3, which is provided with dampening solution and ink by a dampening unit 4 and an inking unit 5. The structure of the dampening and inking unit corresponds to a modern design, the dampening solution 8 being fed from a dampening roller 6 and the ink 9 from an ink fountain roller 7 to the rollers of the dampening or inking unit. For zone-by-zone adjustment of the ink quantity, a plurality of adjusting means 11 are provided on the ink fountain 10, parallel to the ink fountain roller 7, with which the ink quantity to be transferred to the inking unit can be regulated zone by zone.

As can be seen from FIG. 2, the ink 9 is regulated by an ink knife 12 which is plate-shaped and extends over the length of the ink fountain roller 7. With large machine widths, several color knives can also be provided side by side. In the area of its scraper edge 13 up to approximately the color surface shown, the color knife is divided zone by zone by slots 14 with a very small width into tongues about 30 mm wide. The slots 14 provided in the front area of the color knife 12 are less than 1 mm wide and are preferably produced in a width of approximately 0.2 mm by means of laser beams (FIG. 3). In the unslit area, the ink knife 12 is glued to a support bar 15, which in turn is fastened to the ink fountain 10 by means of screws 16.

The entire length and width of the color knife 12 is covered with an elastic cover, which consists of a thin, hard and elastic film 17 with a smooth surface. The film 17 is preferably made of polyester or polyimide and projects beyond the scraping edge 13 of the ink knife 12. In its projecting part, it lies tangentially against the ink fountain roller 7 and is angled in its front region towards the ink fountain roller. In this way, uncontrolled ink droplets can be fed back to the lateral surface of the ink fountain roller 7, so that contamination of the inking unit is prevented. In order to enable easy replacement of the film 17, it is hooked over its length in the rear area at angles 18 which are fastened to the support bar 15.

In the exemplary embodiment shown, adjusting means 11 are provided as setting devices for the ink knife, by means of which each zone-wide tongue of the ink knife 12 can be adjusted to a precise and reproducible gap relative to the outer surface of the ink fountain roller 7. For this purpose, each tongue rests on an eccentric control element 19 and can be precisely positioned by turning it. The eccentric control element 19 is mounted on the ink fountain 10 via a fulcrum 20 to which the bearing surface 21 is eccentric. As a result, the position of the scraper edge 13 is moved more or less towards the lateral surface of the ink fountain roller 7. To limit the stroke, the eccentric bearing surface 21 adjoins an area 22 which has a certain radius with respect to the pivot point 20 of the actuating element 19. This prevents the scraper edge 13 from being pressed against the lateral surface of the ink fountain roller 7 in such a way that the film 17 is damaged in this area. The maximum provision of the scraper edge is designed so that sufficient film thickness is always maintained.

The control element 19 is mounted with its pivot point 20 in a fork pin 23 which is supported on the ink fountain 10 via springs 24. With the nut 25, the fork pin can be moved in the longitudinal direction and thus once the basic setting of the pivot point 20, e.g. to compensate for manufacturing tolerances. The mother 25 is supported here on a sleeve 26 on the ink fountain 10. In this way, each individual zone can be set in an absolutely identical zero position to the ink fountain roller 7 over the length of the ink knife. This is done by setting once each scraper edge 13 without an inserted film 17 to an exact dimension to the lateral surface of the duct roller 7, which corresponds to approximately 50% of the film thickness. The individual zone of the colorimeter is then pretensioned by this amount.

To adjust the gap between the scraper edge 13 and the ink fountain roller 7 via the actuating element 19, a servomotor 27 is used, which rotates a threaded pin 29 via a potentiometer 28 for indicating the position, which is mounted in the ink fountain 10. The threaded pin 29 can also be turned manually using a handwheel 30. As a result of the rotation, a threaded bushing 31 moves in the axial direction of the threaded pin 29, so that the movement is transmitted to the actuating element 19 via a tab 32 and this pivots about the pivot point 20. Due to the preload with which the ink knife 12 rests on the support surface 21, this movement leads to an exact change in the ink gap. Instead of the eccentric contact surface 21, other means can also be used, e.g. Rolls on which the tongues of the color knife 12 rest. The actuating element 19 is guided twice by the tab 32 and the fork pin 23, so that the same is prevented from tilting. The servomotor 27 can be connected to a remote control in a known manner, so that the setting of the color meter selected for a specific edition can be reproduced at any time.
