Definitions

  • the present invention relates to watch cases, of the type comprising a middle-bezel, a crystal and a bottom mounted removably on the middle-bezel and a casing ring ensuring the positioning of a movement in the case.
  • the middle-bezel has an upper opening, intended to be closed by the glass and a lower opening intended to be closed by the bottom and in which the casing ring has an upper portion and a lower portion and external surfaces which cooperate with the openings to position it.
  • the base is held against the middle-bezel by means of fixing screws.
  • the object of the invention is to propose a construction of thin watch cases, provided with means for fixing the bottom and the glass of very small dimensions, and whose flat appearance is further reinforced by the possibility of using a bezel-shaped frame, receiving a dial and a large glass, while the base may be circular and of small dimensions so as not to extend to the edges of the lower part of the bezel.
  • the middle-bezel has a projection extending in its lower part, radially inward, and whose side defines the periphery of the lower opening.
  • the latter thus has radial dimensions smaller than the upper opening. Therefore, the movement must be introduced into the box through its upper opening.
  • the Japanese utility model JP-U-1154395 describes a waterproof watch case, the bottom of which is screwed using screws to the casing ring.
  • a watch case according to a first embodiment of the invention comprises a middle-bezel 1, for example of shape, which has an upper opening 2 and a lower opening 3 of smaller dimensions .
  • the upper opening 2 is preferably in shape, and it is intended to be closed by a glass (not shown), engaged laterally in abutment members 4 forming slides extending on two opposite edges of the middle part.
  • the lower opening 3, preferably circular and of reduced diameter, is closed by the bottom 5.
  • a casing ring 6 is placed in the case by the upper opening 2 of the middle part.
  • FIG. 2 shows that the lower opening 3 of the middle part 1 is defined by a projection 7 extending radially inwards, and against the lower surface 8 of which the base 5 is held by means of screws. fixing 9.
  • the circle 6 has an upper portion 10 and a lower portion 11, comprising outer surfaces 12 and 13 whose dimensions correspond respectively to those of the upper 2 and lower 3 openings of the middle part 1, its lower portion 11 engaging. in the lower opening 3.
  • the upper part 10 of the circle 6 has a first bearing surface 15 for urging the periphery of the glass 4 against the stop members 4, while its lower portion 11 comprises a second bearing surface 16 which comes into contact with the bottom 5.
  • the screws fixing 9 of the base 5, accessible from the outside of the case, are engaged in threads 17 of the middle part-bezel 1, so that their tightening, after fitting the base, causes, by means of the action of the bottom on the bearing surface 16 of the circle, a displacement of the latter in the direction of the glass, until the moment when its bearing surface 15 comes to bear, directly or preferably via a seal 18, against the lower periphery of the glass 14 in. ur press it against the stop members 4.
  • a flange 19 is placed on the dial 20 to hide the seal 18, whose invisibility by the above the box can be guaranteed in a manner known per se by a metallization layer deposited under the glass.
  • a second seal 21 may be disposed between the bottom 5 and the lower portion 11 of the circle 6, next to the second bearing surface 16 of the latter, for example.
  • the fitting of the movement 22 is easy and is carried out in the following manner: the circle 6 and the movement 22 are introduced into the middle part of the bezel 1 through its upper opening 2, then the seal 18 and the flange 19 are put in place , before the glass 14 is engaged laterally in its slides. It then suffices to fix the bottom 5, after fitting the seal 21, by means of the screws 9, the tightening of which simultaneously causes the application of the bottom 5 against the lower surface 8 of the projection 7, the blocking of the circle 6, that of the glass 14 and the compression of the seals 18 and 21.
  • the disassembly of the box takes place in reverse, and it suffices, to allow the removal of the glass, to ensure that a space of height h is available in the assembled state of the box between the upper portion 10 of the circle 6 and the projection 7 of the middle part, to allow during disassembly of the base, a displacement of the circle sufficient to release the pressure it exerts on ice.
  • FIG 3 there is shown a second embodiment of a watch case according to the invention, in which the screws 9 are engaged in threads 17 made this time in the circle 6 itself, so that their tightening causes the application of a lower surface 25 of its upper portion 10 against the opposite upper surface, 26, of the projection 7.
  • the lower surface 8 of the projection 7 and 27 of the circle 6 then come in the extension one from the other.
  • a wide annular seal 28, having passages 29 for the screws 9 is disposed between the surfaces 8 and 27 on the one hand, and the facing surface on the other hand.
  • the glass 14 is driven in a known manner into the upper opening 2 of the middle part-bezel 1, with the interposition of a seal 30 in the form of an I.
  • the flange 31 acts as a spacer between the glass 14 and the circle 6.
  • the casing is made by introducing the circle 6 and the movement 22 into the middle-bezel 1 through its upper opening 2, then the base is applied against the lower surface 8 of the projection 7 by tightening the screws 9, after positioning of the seal 28, so as to simultaneously block the bottom 5 and the casing ring 6.
  • the flange 31 is placed on the dial 20 and the crystal 14 is then driven into the opening 2.
  • To disassemble the watch it just remove the back 5 and the winding stem, then release the ice 14 by exerting a push on the lower part of the circle 6 via a conventional stem, this push being transmitted to the ice 14 by the intermediate ring 31.
