Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a watch case comprising a case-glass assembly comprising a transparent central part and a peripheral lateral part delimiting an interior cavity intended to receive a movement, a bottom obstructing this interior cavity, and assembly means making it possible to make the bottom secured to the middle part-glass.
  • the invention relates more particularly, but not exclusively, to a sealed box, the middle of which is made of a single piece of mineral glass, and the metal bottom.
  • Watch cases of this kind are well known, however, despite their simplicity, they have never been widely used since the assembly of the two parts has always posed a delicate problem, which has never been satisfactorily resolved.
  • patent application DE 3 120 799 describes a watch case, the middle-glass assembly, of pressed glass, and the back, of metal, are assembled by means of a notch device acting directly between these two parts. . It is obvious that such a device risks damaging, or even destroying, the glass part during the operations of closing and opening the box.
  • the object of the present invention is to overcome these drawbacks by proposing a watch case of the above type, which is particularly remarkable in that it further comprises a deformable seal arranged along the internal wall of the lateral part. peripheral, and in that the assembly means penetrate, at least partially, into the internal cavity to exert, in cooperation with the bottom, a radial force on the deformable joint in order to compress it against the internal wall.
  • An advantage of the watch case according to the present invention stems from the fact that the deformable seal, by equalizing the pressures exerted on the internal wall, makes it possible to avoid any risk of local deformation which could cause the middle part to rupture. ice.
  • Another advantage of the invention results from the simplicity of the assembly means which, requiring neither delicate machining nor complex parts, make it possible to reduce the cost of manufacturing the box.
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 there is a window-glass assembly 1 of round shape constituting one of the two main parts of the box.
  • Part 1 has a relatively thick edge 2 and a thinner central cap 3.
  • the middle part-glass 1 is made of pressed mineral glass. It thus forms a single homogeneous piece.
  • the edge 2 plays the same role as the middle part in a conventional watch case, while the cap 3, which is transparent, fulfills the same function as the crystal.
  • the outer surface of the edge 2 can be treated appropriately in order to give the box a particular appearance. This surface can, for example, be opaque to conceal the interior of the box.
  • the edge 2 has an internal side wall 4 which delimits in the middle part-glass 1, with the internal face of the cap 3, an internal cavity 5. This cavity is intended to receive a movement and a display, not shown.
  • the wall 4 forms a cylindrical surface arranged perpendicular to the main plane of the box.
  • a bottom 10 which constitutes the other main part of the box.
  • This bottom in the form of a thin plate made for example of stainless steel, is intended to close the interior cavity 5.
  • Two horns 11, used to attach to a bracelet (not shown), are arranged at the ends of the bottom 10. Finally, it has holes 12 with axes parallel to the wall 4, the role of which will appear further on.
  • a brass ring 15 comprising, at the end facing the cap 3, a flange 16. The outer lateral edge of this flange comes into contact with the wall 4 in order to center the ring 15 radially in the cavity 5, this ring can advantageously also serve as a casing ring for the movement.
  • the ring 15 also comprises tapped holes 17 arranged opposite the holes 12.
  • a brass ring 18 extending from the collar 16 to the end of the ring.
  • the outer face of this ring has a bevel 18 'in its portion which is located near the flange 16.
  • a deformable annular seal 19 This seal must be made of a softer material than that used for ring 15 and ring 18.
  • the seal could advantageously be made of rubber, synthetic material, or even a ductile metal such as copper.
  • the mounting of the box is obtained by placing the gasket 19 on the ring 15 so that it touches the flange 16, then sliding the ring 18 on the ring until the bevel 18 'comes into contact with the joint, finally by introducing everything into the cavity 5.
  • the ring 18 also has a height such that, in this position of the elements, its end projects beyond the body 1 and the ring 15.
  • the radial force pressing the seal 19 against the wall 4 causes an axial friction force which prevents the ring 15 from coming out of the cavity 5.
  • the height of the ring 18 is chosen so that when the bottom 10 comes into contact with the ring 15, after the locking of the screws 20, the friction force is sufficient to avoid inadvertent opening of the box under any circumstances.
  • the wall 4, at the point where it comes into contact with the seal 19, can advantageously be made rough, or else include an annular groove 21 serving as housing for the seal.
  • the deformable seal 19 may be a seal to prevent moisture from entering the cavity 5 along the wall 4.
  • a second seal sealing 25 must be disposed between the bottom 10 and the ring 15 in a groove 24 formed in the ring.
  • the screws 20 must be outside the perimeter delimited by the groove 24 which, of course, can also be made in the bottom 10.
  • the middle part-glass 1 could, for example, include a middle part, a glass, possibly a bezel, these independent parts being assembled in a conventional manner.
  • the middle part would preferably be made of a hard material such as sintered metal, corundum or ceramic, but a metal such as brass, stainless steel or gold could also be used.
  • the side wall 4, making it possible to fix the bottom 10, would be made in the middle.
  • the wall 4 would be made in the glass which would have a thick edge for this purpose, the height of the middle being then reduced so as not to increase the height of the box.
