Definitions

  • the invention relates to a waterproof watch case with removable flat polygonal glass.
  • the object of the invention is therefore to create, in a watch case according to the preamble of claim 1, means for fixing the glass which are simpler than the known means and which allow the use of a glass covering practically the entire face. of the box itself, that is to say of the part thereof serving as an enclosure for the movement of the watch.
  • Fixing means similar to the previous ones have also been used to assemble two other parts of the watch case (CH-A-214 660, DE-C-857 780, CH-A- 250,112). In all these cases, there is always one of the elements which is completely surrounded by the other. Applied to the box according to the preamble of claim 1, these fixing means would require the presence of a bezel making the complete turn of the glass. They would not allow it to extend to the edge of the box, at least on some sides. In addition, the known means (pins, rings, wires) only provide an axial fixing, but not lateral.
  • the present invention achieves the desired goal.
  • it makes it possible, in particular, in a waterproof watch box with removable, flat polygonal glass, to fix the latter to the middle of the box by means of simple keys, while extending the glass up to at the edge of the middle, except on two opposite sides, because these keys ensure the fixing not only axial, but also lateral of the glass.
  • these parts of the middle on the side of the strap fixing horns, they do not disturb the aesthetic effect. Indeed, these parts of the middle make the transition between the movement enclosure and the bracelet and this enclosure appears to be entirely covered by glass.
  • Another important advantage of the box according to the invention is that it allows the glass to be put in place without sliding it over the compressed gasket, with which it must come into contact to seal the seal between it and the build.
  • the glass can be brought into place freely above the fully relaxed seal, which is only compressed following an axial pressure exerted on the glass.
  • Fig. 1 illustrates the method of fixing the glass 1, which has a rectangular shape. This takes place on the middle part 2, between two projecting parts 3 thereof.
  • the parts 3 each have a flat face 4, parallel to the axis of the box.
  • the spacing of the faces 4 is equal to the width of the glass 1, so that the opposite edges 5 of the latter and the faces 4 are contiguous, when the glass is in place.
  • the spacing of the faces 4 is however adjusted to the width of the glass 1 so that the latter can be freely engaged between them.
  • the length of the glass 1 is equal to the width of the middle part 2.
  • the parts 3 consequently extend over their entire length opposite the glass 1.
  • the pins 6 are engaged in cylindrical passages 7, 8 formed by half, 7, in the faces 4 of the parts 3, and by half, 8, in the edge 5 of the glass 1 and extending over the entire width of the box. At their ends, the passages 7, 8 therefore open onto the edges of the box.
  • the diameter of the passages 7, 8 is adjusted to that of the pins 6 so that the latter can be threaded into the passages 7, 8 with gentle friction, when the two halves of these passages are located exactly one opposite the other. This is so when the glass 1 rests on the shoulder 9 which has the middle part 2.
  • the length of the pins 6 is equal to the width of the case, so that their ends are flush with the middle part.
  • the pins 6 can be cut to the desired length before or after their installation.
  • the middle part 2 also has a cylindrical housing 16 for receiving the movement of the watch.
  • FIG. 2 shows an elaborate box, in which the middle part 2a has come from one-piece production with the bottom 28.
  • An annular projection 17 of the cylindrical wall of its housing 16 takes the place of support for the movement 18 of the watch.
  • the dial 19, similar in shape to the glass 1a, extends beyond the movement 18 and extends above the flat bottom 13 of the housing 12.
  • the lining 10 takes place in the free space between the wall of the housing 12 and the edge of the dial. Its thickness is greater than that of the dial.
  • the flange 14 has a height at least approximately equal to the distance between the dial 19 and the glass 1a and the second seal 11 has a thickness greater than the depth of the recess 15 in the flange 14.
  • the casing is done from the "glass" side.
  • the movement 18 and the dial 19 have been put in place, that the linings 10, 11 and the flange 14 have been arranged around the dial 19 and that the glass 1a is placed between the projecting parts 3 of the middle part 2a, the flange 14 is not placed on the dial 19 and the glass 1a is located at a certain distance from the shoulder 9, because of the dimensions of the linings 10. 11.
  • This blocking effect can be further reinforced in a particularly advantageous manner by choosing pins 6 made of a softer material than the box and the glass and by forming the passages 7, 8 so that the surface condition of their walls, in particular faces of the flanges 29, 30, coming into contact with the pins 6, ie rough. Under these conditions, the pressure exerted on the glass by the linings 10, 11 has the effect of planting the roughness due to the roughness of the flanges 29, 30 in the pins 6 and of anchoring the latter to the box and the glass to those -this.
  • FIG. 3 does not differ from that of FIG. 2 only by the presence of a removable circular bottom 20, fixed to the notch to the middle part 2b with the interposition of a seal 21.
  • This bottom has the advantage of giving easy access to the movement of the watch, for example for alterations, which can be carried out without dislodging the latter, or for changing the batteries.
  • the invention is not limited to boxes in which the movement is fitted from the "glass" side.
  • the fixing means according to the invention can also be useful and advantageous in the case of boxes where the movement is implemented from the "bottom" side.
  • the glass 1c may have bevels 22 on its two short sides, extending to the edge of the box, to form, on the inclined upper faces 23, protruding parts of the middle.
  • the lower face of the glass carries a mask 24, preferably formed by metallization, which extends inwards from the edge of the glass, up to the right of the internal face of the flange, so as to hide the face superior of it.
  • a mask is naturally also provided in the previous examples.
  • the edges of the glass engaged between the projecting parts of the middle part were rectilinear, in the variants of FIGS. 5 and 6, they are curved. In fig. 5, they are convex and in FIG. 6, concaves. In these two variants, the glass is therefore retained in place laterally because of its single shape.
  • the small sides of the glass which also extend to the edge of the case, also have bevels 25 which harmonize with the shape of the upper face of the projecting parts of the middle part.
  • the underside of the glass also carries a mask 26, 27 extending inward, to the right of the inner face of the flange.
  • the description of the first embodiment and of the corresponding variants has shown that the only parts of the configuration of the adjacent faces of the glass and the protruding parts of the middle part, which contribute to the fixing of the glass, are the edges 29 and 30.
  • the formation of these edges as described above has the advantage that the glass can be put in place by bringing it closer to the box along the axis thereof.
  • the glass 31 has only one outer rim 32 at the lower corner of each of its long sides 33.
  • the inner rims 34 of the protrusions 35 of the middle 36 are at a distance one of the 'other which is adapted to the width of the glass so that the edges 33 of the glass 31 can slide freely with a slight clearance between these edges 34.
  • the projecting parts 35 are hollowed out as seen in 38 in their parts extending between the edges 34 and the flat upper face 37 of the middle part, so as to receive the edges 32 of the glass and the keys 39.
  • the free space between the edges 32 and 34 is sufficient high so that the keys also in the form of cylindrical pins 39 can be introduced freely between these edges.
  • fittings 40, 41, in combination with the flange 42 as in the first embodiment.
  • this pinching action is reinforced by replacing the cylindrical pins 39 with keys of rectangular or square profile and by machining flat faces on the parts of the flanges 32 and 34 coming into contact with these keys.
  • the positioning of the glass in the box according to the invention does not require any transverse movement of the latter so as to cause damaging friction on the seal with which the glass must establish a tight seal.
  • the glass can be brought into place in the desired transverse position without causing dangerous friction on the upper seal. the compression of this lining is produced by a pure axial displacement of the glass.
  • the arrangement of two thin linings between the glass and the middle instead of one has the advantage of producing a very high axial pressure on the glass without stressing the linings beyond their elastic limit and without producing a deformation significant radial of these linings. It follows that the flange can be made with a larger opening and leave a larger dial surface than in the case of a single seal between the glass and the middle part.
