Definitions

  • the invention relates to a printer, in particular a thermoelectric printer, with electrically controllable pressure points, consisting of a motor-driven roller rotatably mounted in a housing and a print head which rests on the roller in a spring-loaded manner and whose print line is arranged in the longitudinal direction of the roller.
  • thermoelectric printers with print points which can be controlled electrically in parallel, are subject to tolerances which have the effect that the print head does not lie completely tangentially on the roller.
  • different roller prints are created, which lead to different print quality of the printed information.
  • Attempts have been made to compensate for this disadvantage by printing the printhead onto the roller under high contact pressure.
  • the roller wears out quickly; in particular, deviations in the contact pressure lead to the printhead being worn differently and quickly, which therefore has only a short service life.
  • the printed image becomes different and deteriorates.
  • a printer has become known from US Pat. No. 4,189,244, the print head of which can be displaced longitudinally to an elongate plate which serves as an abutment.
  • the printhead runs on a rod, which has an adjusting device at each end. so that a change in the position of the rod together with the print head relative to the abutment is possible.
  • an adjustable platen for mosaic printing devices in which a roller is held in two housing side walls by means of setting plates, these setting plates being adjustable in the XY plane by means of eccentric foam. This allows the platen, in this case the platen, to be adjusted relative to the printhead.
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of providing a printer of the type mentioned at the outset in which tolerances of the contact pressure on the roller can be compensated for and a completely uniform print image is to be produced as a result.
  • the printer according to the invention has the salient advantage that manufacturing or assembly tolerances of the print head or the print head carrier with respect to the roller can be compensated.
  • the printhead or the printhead carrier is arranged such that its distance from the roller and the angle of the longitudinal axis of the printhead from the longitudinal axis of the roller can be changed.
  • the printhead or the printhead carrier can thus advantageously be arranged displaceably up and down; furthermore, the print head or the print head carrier can be arranged such that it can be tilted about its longitudinal axis with respect to the roller.
  • the print line of the print head lies exactly tangentially on the roller after adjustment, with the print head now resting on the roller with the same pressure everywhere as a further advantage.
  • the printhead can thus be adjusted in such a way that all print dots on a print line print evenly and a uniform print image appears. In this way, a high pressure of the print head against the roller can be avoided. This in turn significantly increases the life of the printhead. Furthermore, the unevenness of the roller can be compensated for by changing the position of the print head.
  • the invention thus provides for the first time a printer whose print head can be adjusted in such a way that the possible mean smallest error can be set in order to obtain an optimal, uniform print image. At the same time, due to the resulting lowest contact pressure, this leads to a long service life for the printhead and the roller.
  • the adjustment process is to be explained in such a way that not all points of a print line of the print head lie on the roller before the adjustment. After the adjustment, all points of a print line lie evenly tangentially on the roller with the same pressure.
  • the adjusting device can consist of an axis running parallel to the longitudinal axis of the print head carrier, which axis is in fixed connection with the latter and the ends of which are slidably supported in the housing walls of the housing.
  • the ends of the axis can each be held in a bore of a guide plate, which are slidably mounted on the housing walls. Due to this axis, which is in a fixed connection with the print head carrier, the position of the print head carrier and thus of the print head can be easily changed to compensate for tolerances.
  • the guide plate can have a hole, preferably a slot hole, which is partially aligned with a bore within the housing wall, the diameter of the bore being greater than the diameter of the hole or greater than the slot width of the slot hole.
  • the guide plate can have two further slotted holes or elongated holes, through which screws extend, which are screwed into threaded bores within a clamping plate lying on the guide plate for holding the guide plate on the housing wall.
  • the power supply to the printhead can be flexible strands. This ensures that the print head is easily displaceable without any force moments being transmitted from live cables to the print head.
  • FIGS. 1 to 7 The example of the printer according to the invention shown in FIGS. 1 to 7 consists according to FIG. Of two housing walls 1, 2, which are arranged plane-parallel and between which a rear wall 3 is mounted. Between the housing walls 1, 2, a rigid axle 4 is mounted in the front area thereof by means of screws 5, 6, which keeps the housing walls 1, 2 at a distance. The housing walls 1, 2, the rear wall 3, and the rigid axis 4 thus form a solid and rigid housing.
  • a roller 43 (FIG. 4) is arranged between the housing walls 1, 2, the shaft 28 of which can be driven via a motor 7 and a gear train 8. The motor 7 can be switched via a microswitch 9.
  • a printhead carrier 10 with a printhead 44 (FIG. 6) is mounted above the roller 43, the printhead carrier 10 being relatively movable with respect to the roller 43.
  • the distance of the print head 44 from the roller and the angle of the longitudinal axis of the print head 44 relative to the longitudinal axis of the roller 43 can be changed.
  • the distance can be changed in such a way that the print head is more or less lifted off the roller on one side and thus no longer runs completely plane-parallel to the roller.
  • the longitudinal axis of the print head which normally runs parallel to the longitudinal axis of the roller, is rotated by a small angle by changing the position of the axis, so that the distances of the individual printing points from the roller also change. It is therefore possible to tilt or swivel the print head carrier together with the print head.
  • the print head carrier 10 consists of an elongated part 42, to which a head part 52 is integrally formed.
  • the actual print head 44 is arranged below this head part 52.
  • the head part 52 has a continuous longitudinal groove 45 which runs parallel to the longitudinal direction of the elongated part 42.
  • a pressing and guiding part 46 which is screwed onto the elongated part 42 by means of screws 48.
  • This pressing and guiding part serves mainly for supplying and holding the current leads 47 to the printhead 44 in the region of the roller 43. For this reason, the side of the pressing and guiding part 46 facing the printhead 44 is round. The pressing and guiding part 46 thus clamps the current leads or strands 47 which lead from the pressing and guiding part 46 to a circuit board 25 which is mounted on the rear wall 3 (FIG. 1).
  • the elongated part 42 has on its front longitudinal edge two hold-downs 12, 13 which serve as a counter-holder for springs 19, 20 on the axis 14. A total of four springs 19, 20, 21 22 are slid onto this axis 14, which are preferably spiral springs.
  • One end of the two middle springs 19, 20 is supported against the hold-down devices 12, 13, the other end of the middle springs 19, 20 is supported against the axis 4.
  • a further shaft 28 (FIG. 1) is freely arranged, the ends of which are arranged in elongated holes 41 (FIG. 4) and on which in the region of the side walls 1, 2 hold-down rollers 29, 30 for holding down the Paper are arranged in the area of its edge.
  • the elongated holes 41 are arranged vertically in the direction above the roller 43, so that the shaft 28 can be moved upwards away from the roller 43.
  • the two remaining spiral springs 21, 22 on the axis 14, which are arranged in the region of the ends of the axis 14, serve to press the shaft 28 onto the roller 43.
  • the one ends of the spiral springs 21, 22 are supported on the fixed one Axis 4, the other ends of the coil springs 21, 22 rest on the shaft 28 with the direction of action radially Roller 43.
  • the spiral springs 19, 20, 21, - 22 on the one hand pivot the print head around the shaft 14 in the direction of the roller 43 and press it onto it, on the other hand, the freely movable shaft 28 together with its hold-down rollers 29, 30 pressed onto the roller 43 and the paper 11.
  • the adjustment mechanism used in this example consists of a guide plate 27 which has a slot hole 35, an elongated hole 37 and a further slot hole 36 along a longitudinal edge in its upper region.
  • the slotted hole 35 has a greater width than the width of the slotted hole 36 or the elongated hole 37.
  • the guide plate 27 has a bore 38 which is approximately below the elongated hole 37 is arranged.
  • the two guide plates are arranged on both sides of the housing walls 1 and 2 on the inside, the slot hole 35 partially encompassing the axis 4.
  • the slot hole 39 (FIG. 3) is aligned with a bore 40 inside the housing walls 1, 2 , wherein the bore 40 has a larger diameter than the width of the slot hole 39 carries.
  • the printhead is now checked and adjusted as follows after paper has been loaded into the printer.
  • the axis 14 is carried along, which in turn is in a fixed connection with the print head carrier 10, as a result of which a change in the position of the print head with respect to the roller 43 takes place.
  • the position of the printhead in relation to the roller 43 can be changed, as a result of which tolerances and the resulting pressure differences in the printed image can be corrected and compensated for.
  • all errors are minimized to a medium error, which means that the print line of the print head is at the same pressure everywhere along its length.
  • the print line produces an optimal print image, which in turn leads to the longest possible service life of the print head due to the minimized contact pressure.
