Opfindelsen angår en komponent til brug i et med vand blandbart smøremiddel til brug ved metalbearbejdning samt anvendelse af komponenten i et sådant smøremiddel.
5 Ved tilvirkende metalforarbejdning, såsom boring, drejning, fræsning, gevindskæring og slibning, anvendes sædvanligvis smøremidler baseret på mineralolieprodukter.
Dette skyldes først og fremmest mineraloliernes relativt lave pris. Til tider består smøremidlerne af vandemulsio-10 ner. Derudover anvendes en lang række tilsætningsstoffer, eksempelvis smøringsforbedrende EP-additiver (EP= extreme pressure).
Den stadige skærpelse af kravene til tilfredsstillende 15 arbejdsmiljø og arbejderbeskyttelse, som har fundet sted i de senere år, har vakt interesse for at tilvejebringe nye typer af smøremidler til metalbearbejdning. Utilfredsstillende arbejdsmiljø og deraf følgende besværligheder af arbejdsmedicinsk art er sædvanlige problemer 20 i forbindelse med de produkter, som i dag anvendes i værkstedsindustrien. De mineraloliebaserede produkter giver således anledning til olierøg og olietåger i arbejdslokalerne samt tilsmudsning i og omkring maskinerne. Mineralolierne og de anvendte additiver kan forårsage 25 hudirritation, eksem og allergier. Risiko for cancer forekommer ved langvarig hudkontakt, og risiko for lungeskader forekommer ved indånding af den olieholdige luft.
I de senere år har der fra flere sider været rapporteret 30 om forekomst af cancerogene bestanddele i skærevæsker. Mineralolie indeholder polyaromatiske carbonhydrider, f.eks. benzpyrener. Desuden er det sandsynligt, at der på grund af de høje temperaturer, som findes i skærezonen, dannes polyaromater, når produkterne anvendes.
Med henblik på at reducere de ovenfor anførte problemer, som er forbundet med anvendelsen af mineraloliebaserede 35

2 smøremidler til metalbearbejdning, er man i stadig stigende grad gået over til at anvende mineralolieemulsioner. Derved formindskes problemerne med olietåger og olierøg i en vis grad. Sådanne produkter er imidlertid 5 langt fra problemfri udfra et miljømæssigt synspunkt.
Mineralolier har desuden en begrænset smøreevne, hvor det er nødvendigt at tilsætte flere forskellige additiver.
Disse additiver kan ligesom mineralolie i sig selv give 10 anledning til hudirritationer. Foruden de smøringsforbedrende additiver er det nødvendigt, at de kendte mineralolieemulsioner blandt andet indeholder specielle emulgeringsmidler, korrosionsinhibitorer og bakteriedræbende midler. Sammensætningen af en mineralolieemulsion er 15 således relativt kompliceret. Det er derfor vanskeligt at fastslå, hvilken eller hvilke af de indgående komponenter, som i påkommende tilfælde giver anledning til problemer .
20 Der er således et stort behov for at kunne fremstille et miljøvenligt og samtidig højfunktionelt smøremiddel til brug ved metalbearbejdning, dvs. et miljøvenligt smøremiddel, som gennem sin gode smøreevne og køleevne ved høje overtryk og/eller ved sine tilvirknings- og omdan-25 nelseshastigheder giver detaljer af ønsket udseende, tolerance og overfladefinhed, samtidig med, at slitagen på det anvendte værktøj reduceres.
Ifølge den foreliggende opfindelse har man på overras-30 kende måde kunnet tilfredsstille disse behov, idet man har kunnet tilvejebringe en komponent til brug i et smøremiddel til metalbearbejdning. Den omhandlede komponent er ejendommelig ved, at den består af en blanding af forbindelser med den almene formel 35

25 Man opnår specielle fordele, når man anvender komponenten ifølge opfindelsen som den eneste komponent eller som hovedkomponent i vandbaserede smøremidler. I sådanne tilfælde kan komponenten være opløst eller emulgeret i vand.
De fremstillede opløsninger eller emulsioner bliver såle-30 des særdeles stabile. Endvidere udviser de en særdeles god smøreevne. Herudover er de korrosionsbeskyttende egenskaber helt enestående. Dette gælder således for jern, jernlegeringer, aluminium, aluminiumlegeringer, kobber og kobberlegeringer.
Ifølge en udførelsesform for den foreliggende opfindelse kan et vandbaseret smøremiddel, som er klar til anvendel- 35

5 se, indeholde eksempelvis 70-99 vægt-% vand, fortrinsvis 90-99 vægt-% vand, mens den resterende del eller størstedelen heraf udgøres af smøremiddelkomponenter ifølge opfindelsen.

Det er bemærkelsesværdigt, at et vandbaseret smøremiddel indeholdende op til 99 vægt-% vand kan tilvejebringe en god smøreevne samt gode korrosionsbeskyttende egenskaber.
10 Ud fra såvel miljøbeskyttelsessynpunkter som økonomiske synspunkter er det givetvis fordelagtigt, at man ifølge opfindelsen kan fremstille et højfunktionelt smøremiddel med et så højt vandindhold som angivet i det foregående.
15 Ifølge en anden udførelsesform for den foreliggende opfindelse kan et vandbaseret smøremiddel, som er klar til brug, eksempelvis indeholde mellem 1 og 50 vægt-% vand, mens den resterende del eller størstedelen af denne udgøres af komponenter ifølge opfindelsen. Vandet kan derved 20 være opløst eller emulgeret i komponenten. Et sådant smøremiddel med et relativt højt indhold af komponenter ifølge opfindelsen er specielt anvendeligt ved sådanne metalbearbejdningsoperationer, hvor der stilles høje krav til smøreevnen og styrken af den smørende film.

Ifølge en tredie udførelsesform for den foreliggende opfindelse kan den omhandlede komponent anvendes som delkomponent i et vandbaseret smøremiddel, hvilket smøremiddel eksempelvis kan indeholde mineralolie, syntetiske es- 30 tere, polyalkylenglycoladdukter eller fedtolier på vegetabilsk eller animalsk basis. Man kan derved benytte komponenten til at give forøget smøreevne, forbedret korrosionsbeskyttelse og forbedret emulsionsstabilitet.

15 EKSEMPEL 1
Et mol (136,2 g) trimethylolpropan (TMP), et mol (273,3 g) oliesyre samt 65 g xylen anbragtes i en glaskolbe forsynet med omrører, termometer, en anordning til fraskil-20 lelse af vand samt en anordning til indledning af inert gas. Der anvendtes xylen med henblik på azeotropisk af-destillation af det dannede forestringsvand. Temperaturen blev successivt forøget til 250 °C, hvorefter det dannede forestringsvand blev skilt fra. Da syretallet var faldet 25 til under 3 mg KOH/g blev reaktionen standset. Det tilbageværende xylen blev af destilleret under vakuum. Det opnåede produkt, nærmere bestemt 391,5 g TMP-oleat med et OH-tal på 285 mg KOH/g, var en klar lys olie ved 20 °C.
Man omsatte et mol (391,5 g) TMP-oleat ifølge ovennævnte 30 reaktion med et mol (148,2 g) phthalsyreanhydrid ved 150 °C i en glaskolbe forsynet med omrøring og termometer.
Derved opnåedes 539 g TMP-oleatphthalat med et syretal på 99 mg KOH/g. Dette produkt var en tyktflydende olie ved 20 °C.

Et mol (138,4 g) pentaerythritol (ΡΕΝΤΑ), 2,7 mol (427,1 g) pelargonsyre (en alifatisk Cg-syre) samt 65 g xylen 5 anbragtes i en glaskolbe forsynet med omrøring, termometer, en anordning til fraskillelse af vand samt en tilledningsanordning for en inert gas.

Efter filtrering ved frasugning opnåedes 609 g PENTA-pelar-gonatmaleat med et syretal på 88 mg KOH/g. Produktet var en klar lys olie ved 20 °C.
25 EKSEMPEL 3 I en glaskolbe forsynet med omrøring, termometer, en anordning til fraskillelse af vand samt en anordning til indføring af en inert gas blev anbragt 1 mol (138,4 g) 30 pentaerythritol (ΡΕΝΤΑ), 3 mol (432 g) 2-ethylhexansyre samt 65 g toluen. Toluenet blev tilsat med henblik på azeotropisk afdestillation af det dannede forestrings-vand.

15 EKSEMPEL 4 I en glaskolbe forsynet med omrøring, termometer, en anordning til fraskillelse af vand samt en anordning til 20 indledning af inert gas blev anbragt et mol (138,4 g) pentaerythritol (ΡΕΝΤΑ), et mol (273,3 g) oliesyre samt 65 g xylen.
Temperaturen blev successivt forøget til 250 °C, hvoref-25 ter det dannede forestringsvand blev skilt fra.
Da syretallet var faldet til under 1 mg KOH/g, blev reaktionen standset. Det tiloversblevne xylen afdestilleredes under vakuum. Produktet blev filtreret under tryk med 30 henblik på at fjerne uomsat ΡΕΝΤΑ. Der opnåede 370 g PENTA-oleat med et OH-tal på 226 mg KOH/g. Produktet var en letflydende lysebrun olie ved 20 °C.
I en glaskolbe forsynet med omrøring og termometer omsat-35 tes 286 g PENTA-oleat med 108 g phthalsyreanhydrid ved en temperatur på 150 °C. Efter filtrering opnåede 355 g PENTA-oleatphthalat med et syretal på 98 mg KOH/g. Pro-

EKSEMPEL 5 5 I en glaskolbe forsynet med omrøring, termometer, en anordning til fraskillelse af vand samt en anordning til indføring af en inert gas anbragtes 1 mol (136,2 g) TMP, 2,2 mol (317 g) 2-ethylhexansyre og 20 g xylen. Der tilsattes xylen med henblik på en azeotropisk afdestillation 10 af det dannede forestringsvand.
Temperaturen blev successivt forøget til 260 °C, hvorefter det dannede forestringsvand blev skilt fra. Da syretallet var faldet til under 2 mg KOH/g, blev reaktionen 15 standset. Det tiloversblevne xylen blev afdrevet under vakuum. Der opnåedes 411 g TMP-ethylhexanoat med et 0H-tal på 99 mg KOH/g. Produktet var en lys letflydende olie ved 20 "C.
20 I en glaskolbe forsynet med omrøring, termometer og tilledning for en inert gas anbragtes 1 mol (411 g) TMP-ethylhexanoat og 0,8 mol (117 g) adipinsyre. Temperaturen blev successivt forøget til 250 “C og blev holdt ved denne værdi i yderligere 30 minutter under vakuum (et tryk 25 på 100 mm Hg). Derved opnåedes 514 g TMP-ethylhexanoat-adipat med et syretal på 91 mg KOH/g. Produktet var en letflydende olie ved 40 °C.
EKSEMPEL 6 30 1 mol (517 g) PENTA-2-ethylhexanoat fremstillet ifølge eksempel 3 blev omsat med 1 mol (188 g) azelainsyre ved 250 °C under en nitrogenatmosfære i en glaskolbe forsynet med omrøring og termometer. Reaktionen fik først lov at 35 forløbe i 1,5 timer under atmosfæretryk, hvorefter den forløb i yderligere 30 minutter under vakuum (svarende til et tryk på 80 mm Hg). Temperaturen var konstant 250

Der tilsattes xylen med henblik på at kunne foretage en azeotropisk vandfraskillelse.
Temperaturen blev langsomt forøget til 250 °C, hvorved 15 det dannede forestringsvand skiltes fra. Da syretallet var faldet til under 2 mg KOH/g, blev opvarmningen afbrudt, og den tiloversblevne xylen blev afdrevet under vakuum. Der opnåedes 603 g di-TMP-ethylhexanoat med et OH-tal på 109 mg KOH/g. Produktet var en lys letflydende 20 olie ved 20 °C.
Der anbragtes 1 mol (603 g) di-TMP-ethylhexanoat og 1,2 mol (175 g) adipinsyre i en glaskolbe forsynet med omrøring, termometer og en tilledningsanordning for en inert 25 gas. Temperaturen blev gradvis forøget til 250 °C og blev holdt ved denne værdi i 3 minutter under atmosfæretryk og derefter i 30 minutter under vakuum (svarende til et tryk på 100 mm Hg). Derved opnåedes 756 g di-TMP-ethylhe-xanoatadipat med et syretal på 87 mg KOH/g. Produktet var 30 en letflydende olie ved 40 eC.
EKSEMPEL 8 25 g TMP-oleatphthalat fremstillet som beskrevet i eksem-35 pel 1 blandedes med 4 g Ν,Ν-dimethylethanolamin. Den herved fremkomne blanding blev udrørt i 550 g vand, hvorved der opnåedes en stabil, mælkeagtig emulsion (5 %). En så-

5 EKSEMPEL 9 25 g PENTA-pelargonatmaleat fremstillet som beskrevet i eksempel 2 blev blandet med 10 g triethanolamin og 8 g af en ikke-ionisk emulgator bestående af ethoxyleret nonyl-10 phenol. Den opnåede blanding blev udrørt i 172 g vand, hvorved der opnåedes en stabil, transparent emulsion med en koncentration på 20 %. En sådan emulsion er blandt andet meget bekvem til anvendelse som pladepresningsvæske, eksempelvis ved dybtrækning af rustfrie plader.
15 EKSEMPEL 10 25 g PENTA-ethylhexanoatadipat fremstillet som beskrevet i eksempel 3 blev blandet med 10 g triethanolamin. Den 20 opnåede blanding blev udrørt i 1715 g vand, hvorved der opnåedes en stabil, halvtransparent emulsion med en koncentration på 2 %. En emulsion af denne art er tilsyneladende bekvem, f.eks. til anvendelse som slibevæske.

Den herved opnåede blanding blev udrørt i 665 g vand, hvorved 30 der opnåedes en stabil, mælkelignende emulsion med en koncentration på 5 %. Denne emulsion er særdeles bekvem som smørings- og afkølingsmiddel til anvendelse ved eksempelvis skærende forarbejdning såsom boring og gevindskæring.

Den herved opnåede blanding blev udrørt i 598 g vand, hvorved der opnåedes en stabil, mælkelignende emulsion med en koncentration på 5 %. Denne emulsion er særdeles bekvem til anvendelse som smørings-og afkølingsmiddel til brug ved eksempelvis skærende for-10 arbejdning såsom boring og gevindskæring.
EKSEMPEL 13 25 g PENTA-2-ethylhexanoatazelat fremstillet som beskre-15 vet i eksempel 6 blev blandet med 12 g triethanolamin og 3,7 g diethylenglycolmonobutylether. Den herved opnåede blanding blev udrørt i 773 g vand, hvorved der opnåedes en stabil, transparent emulsion med en koncentration på 5 %. Denne emulsion er særdeles bekvem til anvendelse som 20 smørings- eller afkølingsmiddel under eksempelvis skæ rende forarbejdning såsom boring og gevindskæring.
EKSEMPEL 14 25 25 g di-TMP-ethylhexanoatadipat fremstillet som beskrevet i eksempel 7 blandedes med 5,2 g N,N-dimethylaminomethyl-propanol og 3,0 g diethylenglycolmonobutylether. Den herved opnåede blanding blev udrørt i 627 g vand, hvorved der opnåedes en stabil, mælkelignende emulsion med en 30 koncentration på 5 %. Denne emulsion er særdeles bekvem til anvendelse som skærings- og afkølingsmiddel ved eksempelvis skærende forarbejdning såsom boring og gevindskæring.
