Description
- Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft phosphorhaltige Zusammensetzungen und ihre Verwendung als Schmiermittel in flüssigen Zusammenset Zungen, die flüssige Fluor enthaltende Kohlenwasserstoffe enthalten.
- Fluorchlorkohlenwasserstoffe, auf die in der Industrie im allgemeinen als CFCs Bezug genommen wird, wurden in großem Umfang in Kälte- bzw. Kühlsystemen verwendet. Die Verwendung von CFCs ist in den letzten Jahren aufgrund von Forderungen von Umweltschützern, die Verwendung von CFCs wegen ihrer schädlichen Wirkung auf die Ozonschicht der Atmosphäre zu vermindern, wenn nicht vollständig zu verbieten, zurückgegangen. Beispiele von CFCs schließen CFC-11, das Chlortrifluormethan ist, CFC-12, das Dichlordifluormethan ist, und CFC-113, das 1,2,2-Trifluor-1,1,2-trichlorethan ist, ein. Das Auffinden eines sicheren Ersatzes für CFC- Kühlmittel war ein schwierig zu lösendes Problem gewesen. Verschiedene Ersatzkandidaten wurden als Alternativen für die vollständig halogenierten Kohlenwasserstoffe vorgeschlagen. Beispiele für sichere Alternativen schließen halogenierte Kohlenwasserstoffe ein, die mindestens ein Wasserstoffatom enthalten, wie HCFC-22, das Difluorchlormethan ist, HCFC-123, das 1,1-Dichlor-2,2,2,-trifluorethan ist, HFC-134a, das 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluorethan ist, und HCFC- 141b, das 1,1-Dichlor-1-fluorethan ist.
- Das Ozonabreicherungspotential dieser vorgeschlagenen Ersatzstoffe ist wesentlich geringer als das Ozonabreicherungspotential der früher verwendeten CFCs. Das Ozonabreicherungspotential ist ein relatives Maß für eine Fähigkeit eines Materials, die Ozonschicht in der Atmosphäre zu zerstören. HCFC-22 und HFC-134a werden im allgemeinen als Kandidaten für die Verwendung von Kühlmitteln vorgeschlagen und HFC-134a ist besonders günstig, da für sein Ozonabreicherungspotential ein Wert von Null berichtet worden ist.
- Das Problem bei der Verwendung dieser alternativen Materialien ist, daß die alternativen Materialien andere Löslichkeitseigenschaften als die derzeit in Kühlmitteln verwendeten CFCs aufweisen. Zum Beispiel ist Mineralschmieröl unverträglich (d.h. unlöslich). Eine derarte Unverträglichkeit resultiert in einer nicht akzeptierbaren Kompressorlebensdauer bei Kühleinrichtungen vom Kompressor-Typ, z.B. Kältemaschinen bzw. Kühlschränken und Klimaanlagen, einschließlich Auto-, Heim- und Industrieklimanlagen. Das Problem tritt besonders bei Autoklimaanlagensystemen hervor, da die Kompressoren nicht getrennt geschmiert werden und das Gemisch aus Kühlmittel und Schmiermittel durch das gesamte System hindurch zirkuliert.
- Um als eine zufriedenstellende Kühlmittelflüssigkeit zu wirken, muß das Gemisch aus Kühlmittel und Schmiermittel kompatibel und über einen großen Temperaturbereich, wie von etwa 0ºC und mehr als 80ºC stabil sein. Es wird im allgemeinen für die Schmiermittel gewünscht, in dem Kühlmittel in Konzentrationen von etwa 5 bis 15% über einen Temperaturbereich von -40ºC bis 80ºC löslich zu sein. Diese Temperaturen entsprechen im allgemeinen den Betriebstemperaturen eines Automobilklimaanlagekompressors. Zusätzlich zu thermischer Stabilität müssen die Kühlflüssigkeiten annehmbare Viskositätseigenschaften aufweisen, die sogar bei hohen Temperaturen beibehalten werden, und die Kühlflüssigkeit sollte keine nachteilige Wirkung auf als Dichtungen in den Kompressoren verwendete Materialien besitzen.
- Die US-PS 4,428,854 betrifft eine Absorptionskühlmittelzusammensetzung, die 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluorethan und organisches Lösungsmittel, das fähig ist, das Ethan aufzulösen, umfaßt. Triethylphosphortriamid, Hexamethylphosphorsäuretriamid, Triethylenphosphat, Triethylphosphat und dergleichen phosphatartige Lösungsmittel sind als phosphororganische Lösungsmittel beschrieben, die fähig sind, Ethan aufzulösen.
- Die US-PS 4,431,557 betrifft eine flüssige Zusammensetzung, die ein Fluorkohlenstoffkühlmittel, ein Kohlenwasserstofföl und ein Alkylenoxidadditiv umfaßt. Das Fluid kann zusätzliche Additive, z.B. ladungstragende Verbindungen, wie Phosphorigsäureester, Phosphorsäureester, Thiophosphorsäureester, organische Schwefelverbindungen oder organische Halogenverbindungen, etc., enthalten.
- Die US-PS 4,454,052 betrifft stabilisierte Absorptionszusammensetzungen, umfassend (A) ein halogeniertes Kohlenwasserstoffkühlmittel, (B) ein flüssiges Absorptionsmittel aus einem Polyethylenglycolmethylether und (C) mindestens einen Stabilisator, der aus Phosphitestern, Epoxyverbindungen und Organozinnverbindungen ausgewählt ist.
- Die US-PS 4,755,316 bezieht sich auf Schmiermittel für Kühlsysteme, die Tetrafluorethan verwenden. Die Fluide verwenden bestimmte Polyoxyalkylenglycole als Schmieröle. Es werden Additive beschrieben, die verwendet werden können, um die Leistungsfähigkeit in Tabelle D zu verbessern. Unter den aufgeführten Additiven sind Phosphate, Thiophosphate und Phosphite.
- Umsetzungen von Trialkylphosphiten mit verschiedenen α,β- ungesättigten Säuren, Estern, Ketonen, Aldehyden, Amiden und Nitrilen in protonierenden Lösungsmitteln wurden in der Literatur beschrieben. Es wird beispielsweise auf Tetrahedron, Bd. 22 (1966), Seiten 2561-2573 hingewiesen. Umsetzungen von Dialkylphosphiten mit aktivierten Olefinen, wie den vorstehend erwähnten, durch einen Freies-Radikal-Mechanismus wurden ebenfalls in der Literatur beschrieben, wie beispielsweise in Methoden der organischen Chemie, Bd. 12/1, Seiten 463-490, Houben-Weyl. Durch die vorstehenden Verfahren hergestellte phosphorhaltige Zusammensetzungen sind für eine Vielfalt von Verwendungen nützlich. Beispielsweise sind sie als feuerhemmende Zusätze nützlich.
- Diese Erfindung betrifft eine Zusammensetzung, umfassend (A) 50 bis 95 Gew.-% eines Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoffs mit 1 oder 2 Kohlenstoffatomen und
- (B) 5 bis 50 Gew.-% einer phosphorhaltigen Zusammensetzung, umfassend mindestens eine Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel (1) oder (2):
- in der die Reste R&sub1; und R&sub2; jeweils unabhängig Hydrocarbyl- oder Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenreste bedeuten und R&sub1; und R&sub2; zusammen insgesamt 2 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatome, ausschließlich Oxyalkylen-Kohlenstoffatomen enthalten, a den Wert 0 oder 1 hat, b den Wert 1 oder 2 hat, c den Wert 1, 2 oder 3 hat, d den Wert 0, 1 oder 2 hat, mit der Maßgabe, daß die Summe von c+d den Wert 3 hat; wenn b den Wert 1 hat, der Rest Z ausgewählt ist aus -R&sub5;, -XR&sub5;, -N(H)R&sub5;, -N(R&sub5;)&sub2;, -C(X)R&sub5;, -CN, -S(O)R&sub5;, -S(O)&sub2;R&sub5;, -S(O)&sub2;N(R&sub3;) (R&sub4;) und
- wenn b den Wert 2 hat, der Rest Z die Gruppe -N(R&sub5;)- ist, X ein Sauerstoff- oder Schwefelatom ist, Y ein Hydrocarbylenrest mit 1 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen ist, R&sub5; ein Hydrocarbylrest mit 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen oder ein Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenrest mit 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen im Hydrocarbylrest der Gruppe ist, die Reste R&sub3; und R&sub4; jeweils unabhängig Wasserstoffatome oder Hydrocarbylreste mit 1 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen sind, oder R&sub3; und R&sub4; zusammen einen heterocyclischen Ring bilden.
- Die vorliegende Erfindung liefert Zusammensetzungen, die als Kühlflüssigkeiten in Kältemaschinen bzw. Kühlschränken und Klimaanlagen, einschließlich Auto-, Heim- und Industrieklimaanlagen, nützlich sind. Die Erfindung liefert phosphorhaltige Zusammensetzungen, die mit Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoffen, die in Kältemaschinen bzw. Kühlschränken und Klimaanlagen verwendet werden, kompatibel sind. Die phosphorhaltigen Zusammensetzungen wirken als Schmiermittel für Klimaanlagen.
- Verschiedene bevorzugte Merkmale und Ausführungsformen der vorliegenden Erfindung werden nun mit Hilfe nicht begrenzender Beispiele beschrieben.
- Wenn nichts anderes angegeben ist, soll in der Beschreibung und in den Patentansprüchen die Verwendung des Begriffs Alkylrest alle isomeren Anordnungen des Restes, wie primäre, sekundäre und tertiäre sowie Iso- und Neoanordnungen umfassen.
- In der Beschreibung und den Patentansprüchen soll die Verwendung des Begriffs Alkylen oder Hydrocarbylen divalente Kohlenwasserstoff- oder Hydrocarbylreste umfassen. Beispielsweise ist Propylen ein divalenter Kohlenwasserstoffrest mit 3 Kohlenstoffatomen.
- In dieser Beschreibung und den Patentansprüchen sind alle Teile und Prozentsätze auf das Gewicht bezogen, Temperaturen sind in ºC angegeben und Drücke liegen beim oder in der Nähe vom Atmosphärendruck, wenn nichts anderes klar angegeben ist.
- Der Begriff "Hydrocarbyl" schließt Kohlenwasserstoff- sowie im wesentlichen Kohlenwasserstoffreste ein. "Im wesentlichen Kohlenwasserstoff" beschreibt Reste, welche Nichtkohlenwasserstoff-Substituenten enthalten, welche die vorherrschende Kohlenwasserstoffnatur des Restes nicht verändern. Nichtkohlenwasserstoff-Substituenten schließen Halogen- (insbesondere Chlor und Fluor), Hydroxy-, Alkoxy-, Mercapto-, Alkylmercapto-, Nitro-, Nitroso-, Sulfoxyreste etc. ein. Der Hydrocarbylrest kann auch ein Heteroatom, wie Schwefel, Sauerstoff oder Stickstoff, in einem Ring oder einer Kette enthalten. Im allgemeinen werden nicht mehr als zwei, bevorzugt nicht mehr als ein Nichtkohlenwasserstoff- Substituent für jede 10 Kohlenstoffatome im Hydrocarbylrest vorhanden sein. Typischerweise werden keine solchen Nichtkohlenwasserstoff-Substituenten im Hydrocarbylrest vorhanden sein. Daher ist der Hydrocarbylrest einfach Kohlenwasserstoff.
- Der Begriff "niedrig", wie er hierin in Verbindung mit Begriffen wie Hydrocarbyl, Alkyl, Alkenyl, Alkoxy und dergleichen verwendet wird, soll solche Reste beschreiben, die insgesamt bis zu 7 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten.
- Der in den flüssigen Zusammensetzungen vorliegende Fluor enthaltende Kohlenwasserstoff enthält wenigstens eine C-H- Bindung sowie C-F-Bindungen. Zusätzlich zu diesen zwei wesentlichen Typen von Bindungen kann der Kohlenwasserstoff auch weitere Kohlenstoff-Halogen-Bindungen, wie C-Cl-Bindungen, enthalten. Da die flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung vorrangig zur Verwendung als Kühlmittel beabsichtigt sind, enthält der Fluor enthaltende Kohlenwasserstoff vorzugsweise ein oder zwei Kohlenstoffatome und stärker bevorzugt zwei Kohlenstoffatome.
- Wie vorstehend angebeben wurde, können die in den flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindungen nützlichen Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoffe andere Halogene, wie Chlor, enthalten. Jedoch enthält in einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform der Kohlenwasserstoff nur Kohlenstoff, Wasserstoff und Fluor. Diese Verbindungen, die nur Kohlenstoff, Wasserstoff und Fluor enthalten, werden hierin als Fluorkohlenwasserstoffe (Wasserstofffluorkohlenstoffe oder HFCs) bezeichnet. Die Kohlenwasserstoffe, die Chlor sowie Fluor und Wasserstoff enthalten, werden als Chlorfluorkohlenwasserstoffe (Wasserstoffchlorfluorkohlenstoffe oder HCFCs) bezeichnet. Die in der Zusammensetzung der vorliegenden Erfindung nützlichen Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoffe müssen von den vollständig halogenierten Kohlenwasserstoffen unterschieden werden, welche als Treibmittel, Kühlmittel und Blähmittel verwendet worden sind und verwendet werden, wie CFC-11, CFC-12 und CFC-113, die im Hintergrund der Erfindung beschrieben wurden.
- Spezifische Beispiele für in den flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung nützliche Fluor enthaltende Kohlenwasserstoffe und ihre von ihnen berichteten Ozonabreicherungspotentiale sind in der folgenden Tabelle I gezeigt. - Beispiele für weitere Fluor enthaltende Kohlenwasserstoffe, die in den flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung nützlich sein können, schließen Trifluormethan, 1,1,1-Trifluorethan, 1,1,-Difluorethan und 1,1,2,2-Tetrafluorethan ein.
- Im allgemeinen sind Fluor enthaltende Kohlenwasserstoffe, die als Kühlmittel nützlich sind, Fluormethane und Fluorethane, die bei einer relativ niedrigen Temperatur bei Atmosphärendruck sieden, z.B. unter 30ºC. Die nützlichen Fluorkohlenstoff-Kühlmittel dienen dazu, Wärme in einem Kälte- bzw. Kühlsystem durch Verdampfen und Absorbieren von Wärme bei einer niedrigen Temperatur und einem niedrigen Druck, z.B. bei Raumtemperatur und Atmosphärendruck, und durch Freisetzen von Wärme durch Kondensieren bei einer höheren Temperatur und einem höheren Druck zu übertragen.
- Die flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung enthalten eine größere Menge des Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoffs. Insbesondere werden die flüssigen Zusammensetzungen mehr als 50 bis zu 95 Gew.-% des Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoffs enthalten. In einer weiteren Ausführungsform enthalten die flüssigen Zusammensetzungen 70 bis 95 Gew.-% des Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoffs.
- Zusätzlich zum Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoff umfassen die Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung
- (B) eine kleinere Menge einer phosphorhaltigen Zusammensetzung, umfassend mindestens eine Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel (1) oder (2):
- oder
- in der die Reste R&sub1; und R&sub2; jeweils unabhängig Hydrocarbyl- oder Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenreste bedeuten und R&sub1; und R&sub2; zusammen insgesamt 2 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatome, ausschließlich Oxyalkylen-Kohlenstoffatomen enthalten, a den Wert 0 oder 1 hat, b den Wert 1 oder 2 hat, c den Wert 1, 2 oder 3 hat, d den Wert 0, 1 oder 2 hat, mit der Maßgabe, daß die Summe von c+d den Wert 3 hat; wenn b den Wert 1 hat, der Rest Z ausgewählt ist aus -R&sub5;, -XR&sub5;, -N(H)R&sub5;, -N(R&sub5;)&sub2;, -C(X)R&sub5;, -CN, -S(O)R&sub5;, -S(O)R&sub5;, -S(O)&sub2;N(R&sub3;) (R&sub4;) und
- wenn b den Wert 2 hat, der Rest Z die Gruppe -N(R&sub5;)- ist, X ein Sauerstoff- oder Schwefelatom ist, Y ein Hydrocarbylenrest mit 1 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen ist, R&sub5; ein Hydrocarbylrest mit 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen oder ein Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenrest mit 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen im Hydrocarbylrest der Gruppe ist, die Reste R&sub3; und R&sub4; jeweils unabhängig Wasserstoffatome oder Hydrocarbylreste mit 1 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen sind, oder R&sub3; und R&sub4; zusammen einen heterocyclischen Ring bilden.
- Die Phosphor enthaltenden Verbindungen, die durch die vorstehenden allgemeinen Formeln gekennzeichnet sind, sind vorzugsweise frei von acetylenischer und aromatischer Unsättigung. Verbindungen, die eine solche Unsättigung enthalten, sind gewöhnlich in den Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoffen unlöslich und insbesondere in 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluorethan. Die löslichen Schmiermittel dieser Erfindung sind auch vorzugsweise frei von olefinischer Unsättigung, mit der Ausnahme, daß etwas olefinische Unsättigung vorliegen kann, solange das Schmiermittel löslich ist. In der allgemeinen Formel (1) sind die Reste R&sub1; und R&sub2; jeweils unabhängig Hydrocarbylreste oder Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenreste, wobei R&sub1; und R&sub2; zusammen insgesamt 2 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatome, ausschließlich Oxyalkylenkohlenstoffatomen, besitzen.
- Für die Zwecke dieser Erfindung muß die Gesamtzahl aliphatischer Kohlenstoffatome der Reste R&sub1; und R&sub2; 2 bis 24, vorzugsweise 2 bis 18, stärker bevorzugt 2 bis 16 Kohlenstoffatome aufweisen. Die Gesamtzahl aliphatischer Kohlenstoffatome ist die Summe aller in dem Hydrocarbylrest oder Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenrest vorhandenen Kohlenstoffatome abzüglich der Zahl Kohlenstoffatome im Oxyalkylenteil des Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenrests, wenn ein solcher vorhanden ist. Im allgemeinen wird die Gesamtzahl aliphatischer Kohlenstoffatome die Gesamtzahl von Alkylkohlenstoffatomen sein, d.h. die Summe der Kohlenstoffatome aller Alkylreste, zuzüglich der Kohlenstoffatome aller Hydrocarbylteile des Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenrests.
- Vorzugsweise besitzen, wenn R&sub1; oder R&sub2; ein Hydrocarbylrest ist, die Reste R&sub1; und R&sub2; jeweils unabhängig 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatome. Besonders bevorzugt sind die Reste R&sub1; und R&sub2; jeweils unabhängig ein Alkylrest mit 1 bis 8, vorzugsweise mit 1 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatomen. In einer weiteren Ausführungsform werden die Reste R&sub1; und R&sub2; aus unverzweigten Alkylresten mit 1 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen und verzweigten Alkylresten mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen ausgewählt. Die Reste R&sub1; und R&sub2; können beide unverzweigte Alkylreste oder verzweigte Alkylreste sein. Von der vorliegenden Erfindung umfaßt ist auch, daß der Rest R&sub1; ein verzweigter Alkylrest ist und R&sub2; ein unverzweigter. Die Reste R&sub1; und R&sub2; werden aus Methyl-, Ethyl-, Propyl-, Butyl-, Pentyl-, Hexyl-, Heptyl- und Octylgruppen ausgewählt.
- Wenn R&sub1; und R&sub2; ein Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenrest ist, sind die Reste R&sub1; und R&sub2; vorzugsweise ein Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenrest mit 1 bis 20 Oxyalkylenresten und 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen im Hydrocarbylrest. Vorzugsweise ist R&sub1; oder R&sub2; ein Alkyloxyalkylenrest. In einer Ausführungsform weist der Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenrest vorzugsweise einen Oxyalkylenrest, stärker bevorzugt einen Oxyethylen- oder einen Oxypropylenrest mit 1 bis 12, stärker bevorzugt 1 bis 6, noch stärker bevorzugt 1 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen im Hydrocarbylrest, auf. Beispiele für R&sub1;- oder R&sub2;-Reste schließen Methoxyethyl-, Methoxypropyl-, Ethoxyethyl-, Ethoxypropyl-, Propoxyethyl-, Propoxypropyl-, Butoxyethyl- und Butoxypropylreste ein.
- In einer weiteren Ausführungsform bedeuten die Reste R&sub1; oder R&sub2; ein Hydrocarbyloxyalkylen, das ein Hydrocarbylentständiges Polyoxyalkylen ist. Vorzugsweise ist der Rest R&sub1; oder R&sub2; ein Hydrocarbyl-endständiger Polyoxyalkylenrest mit 2 bis 30, stärker bevorzugt etwa 2 bis 20, stärker bevorzugt etwa 3 bis 15, noch stärker bevorzugt etwa 3 bis 10 Oxyalkylenresten. Der Alkylenteil des Restes weist vorzugsweise 1 bis 8, stärker bevorzugt 2 bis 4, noch stärker bevorzugt 2 bis 3 Kohlenstoffatome auf. Der Alkylenteil ist bevorzugt Ethylen, Propylen oder Gemische davon. Der Hydrocarbylanteil des Hydrocarbyl-endständigen Polyoxyalkylens ist in der gleichen Weise definiert, wie wenn die Reste R&sub1; oder R&sub2; wie ein vorstehender Hydrocarbylrest sind.
- Wenn R&sub1; oder R&sub2; ein Hydrocarbyl-endständiger Polyoxyalkylenrest sind, können R&sub1; oder R&sub2; aus einem Hydrocarbylendständigen Polyoxyalkylenglycol abgeleitet sein. Die Hydrocarbyl-endständigen Polyoxyalkylenglycole werden im allgemeinen, durch Behandlung eines aliphatischen Alkohols mit einem Überschuß eines Alkylenoxids, wie Ethylenoxid oder Propylenoxid, hergestellt. Beispielsweise können von 6 bis 40 Mol Ethylenoxid oder Propylenoxid mit dem aliphatischen Alkohol kondensiert werden. Vorzugsweise ist das Hydrocarbyl-endständige Polyoxyalkylen ein Alkyl-endständiges Polyoxyalkylen. Im Stand der Technik ist eine Vielfalt von Alkyl-endständigen Polyoxyalkylenen bekannt, und viele sind im Handel erhältlich.
- Die in der vorliegenden Erfindung nützlichen Alkyl-endständigen Polyoxyalkylenglycole sind unter Handelsnamen, wie "TRITONOR" von Rohm & Haas Company, "Carbowax " und "TERGITOL " von Union Carbide, "VALFONIC " von Conoco Chemicals Company und "NEODOL " von Shell Chemical Company im Handel erhältlich. Die TRITON -Materialien werden gewöhnlich als polyethoxylierte Alkohole oder Phenole ausgewiesen. Die TERGITOLE " werden als Polyethylenglycolether von primären oder sekundären Alkoholen ausgewiesen; die ALFONICOR-Materialien werden als ethoxylierte, lineare Alkohole ausgewiesen und haben die allgemeine Strukturformel

- in welcher der Wert für d zwischen 4 und 16 variiert und e ein Wert zwischen 3 und 11 ist. Spezifische Beispiele von ALFONIC -Ethoxylaten dere vorherstehenden allgemeinen Formel schließen ALFONIC 1012-60, worin d den Wert 8 bis 10 besitzt und e ein Mittel von 5 bis 6 ist, ALFONIC 1214-70, worin d den Wert 10 bis 12 hat und e ein Mittel von 10 bis 11 ist; ALFONIC 1412-60, worin d den Wert 10 bis 12 hat und e ein Mittel von etwa 7 ist, und ALFONICO 1218-70, worin d den Wert 10 bis 16 hat und e ein Mittel von 10 bis 11 ist, ein.
- Die Carbowax -Methoxypolyethylenglycole sind lineare ethoxylierte Polymere von Methanol. Beispiele dieser Materialien schließen Carbowax -Methoxypolyethylenglycol 350, 550 und 750 ein, worin der numerische Wert sich dem Molekulargewicht annähert.
- Die NEODCL -Ethoxylate sind ethoxylierte Alkohole, worin die Alkohole ein Gemisch aus Alkoholen sind, die 12 bis 15 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten, und die Alkohole teilweise verzweigtkettige primäre Alkohole sind. Die Ethoxylate werden durch Umsetzung der Alkohole mit einem Überschuß Ethylenoxid, wie von 3 bis 13 oder mehr Mol Ethlyenoxid pro Mol Alkohol, erhalten. Beispielsweise ist NEODOL Ethoxylat 23-6.5 ein teilweise verzweigtkettiges Alkoholat von 12 bis 13 Kohlenstoffatomen mit durchschnittlich 6 bis 7 Ethoxyeinheiten.
- In der allgmeinen Formel (1) und der allgemeinen Formel (2) bedeutet Y einen Hydrocarbylenrest mit 1 bis 20, vorzugsweise 1 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatomen. Stärker bevorzugt ist Y ein Alkylenrest. Besonders bevorzugt wird Y aus einem Methylen-, Ethylen-, Propylen- und Butylenrest ausgewählt.
- In der allgemeinen Formel (1) hat a den Wert 0 oder 1. Vorzugsweise hat a den Wert 0, wenn Z -R&sub5; bedeutet. Ebenfalls vorzugsweise hat a den Wert 1, wenn Z aus -XR&sub5;, -N(H)R&sub5;, -N(R&sub5;)&sub2;, -N(R&sub5;)-, -C(X)R&sub5;, -CN, -S(O)R&sub5;, -S(O)&sub2;R&sub5;, -S(O)&sub2;N(R&sub3;) (R&sub4;) und
- ausgewählt ist.
- Wenn b den Wert 1 hat, ist Z -R&sub5;, -XR&sub5;, -N(R&sub5;)&sub2;, -C(X)R&sub5;, -CN, -S(O) R&sub5;, -S(O)&sub2;R&sub5;, -S(O)&sub2;N (R&sub3;) (R&sub4;) oder
- Wenn b den Wert 2 hat, ist Z ein Rest -N(R&sub5;)-.
- In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform hat b den Wert 1 und wird Z aus -R&sub5;, -S(O)&sub2;N(R&sub4;), -S(O)&sub2;R&sub5; und
- ausgewählt.
- In einer bevorzugterenn Ausführungsform hat b den Wert 1 und wird Z aus -R&sub5; und ausgewählt.
- In der allgemeinen Formel (1) und der allgemeinen Formel (2) ist R&sub5; ein Hydrocarbylrest mit 1 bis 18, vorzugsweise mit 1 bis 14 Kohlenstoffatomen. Stärker bevorzugt ist R&sub5; ein Alkylrest. R&sub5; kann aus einer Methyl-, Ethyl-, Propyl-, Butyl-, Pentyl-, Octyl-, Dodecyl- und Octadecylgruppe ausgewählt werden. Vorzugsweise ist R&sub5; eine Dodecylgruppe.
- In einer weiteren Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung enthalten die Reste R&sub1;, R&sub2; und R&sub5; zusammen insgesamt 3 bis 26, vorzugsweise 3 bis 22, stärker bevorzugt 3 bis 20 und noch stärker bevorzugt 3 bis 16 aliphatische Kohlenstoffatome. Die Gesamtzahl aliphatischer Kohlenstoffatome wird vorstehend berechnet und besprochen.
- In der allgemeinen Formel (2) werden die Reste R&sub3; und R&sub4; jeweils unabhängig aus Wasserstoffatomen und einem Hydrocarbylrest mit 1 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen ausgewählt. Die Reste R&sub3; und R&sub4; können zusammen einen heterocyclischen Ring bilden. Vorzugsweise sind R&sub3; und R&sub4; Alkylreste mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen. In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform werden R&sub3; und R&sub4; aus verzweigten Alkylresten mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen und geradkettigen Alkylresten mit 1 bis 4 Kohlenstoffatomen ausgewählt. R&sub3; und R&sub4; werden aus Methyl-, Ethyl-, Propyl- und Butylgruppen ausgewählt.
- Die Reste R&sub3; und R&sub4; können sich verbinden, um einen heterocyclischen Ring mit einem Stickstoffatom zu bilden. Der heterocyclische Ring kann mehr als ein Heteroatom enthalten. Beispielsweise können sich die Reste R&sub3; und R&sub4; verbinden, um einen heterocyclischen Ring zu bilden, der aus Imidazolin, einem Oxazolin, einem Pyridin und einem Morpholin ausgewählt ist. Vorzugsweise verbinden sich die Reste R&sub3; und R&sub4;, um ein Morpholin zu bilden. Das Morpholin kann substituiert sein.
- In der allgemeinen Formel (2) hat c den Wert 1, 2 oder 3. Auch hat d den Wert 0, 1 oder 2. Es wird vorausgesetzt, daß die Summe aus c+d den Wert 3 haben muß, um die Wertigkeitserfordernisse des Phosphoratoms zu erfüllen Bevorzugt hat c den Wert 1 und d den Wert 2.
- In der allgemeinen Formel (2) ist X ein Sauerstoff- oder Schwefelatom. Bevorzugt ist X ein Sauerstoffatom.
- Die durch die vorherstehende allgemeine Formel (1) beschriebenen Materialien können durch Umsetzung eines Phosphits mit einem Olefin oder einer Vinyl oder Allyl enthaltenden Verbindung, ausgewählt aus einem Ether, einem Sulfon, einem Keton, einem Sulfoxid, einem Nitril und einem Aldehyd, hergestellt werden.
- Vinyl- oder Allylverbindungen, die in der vorliegenden Erfindung nützlich sind, schließen Methylvinylether, Ethylvinylether, Methylvinylketon, Ethylvinylketon, Acrylonitril, Vinylsulfoxid, Vinylsulfon, Allylbutylether, Allylamin, Allylcyanid und Allylethylether ein, sind jedoch nicht darauf beschränkt.
- In der vorherstehenden angegebenen Umsetzung nützliche Olefinverbindungen schließen Olefine mit 2 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen, vorzugsweise 6 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen und besonders bevorzugt etwa 8 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen, ein. Diese olefinischen Verbindungen können Alkylentetramere von Ethylen, Propylen und Butylen sein. Beispielsweise ist ein oligomeres Olefin von Propylen (Tetrapropylen) in der vorliegenden Erfindung nützlich. Weitere nützliche Olefine schließen Octen, Dodecen, Hexen und dergleichen ein.
- Die Phosphite können mit den Olefinen oder Vinyl- oder Allylverbindungen unter freiradikalischen Bedingungen umgesetzt werden. Jeder Starter für freie Radikale ist nützlich, vorausgesetzt, daß der Starter eine ausreichende Halbwertszeit hat, um die Anlagerung des Phosphits zu verursachen. Die Bedingungen und die Starter für freie Radikale sind im Stand der Technik bekannt. Beispiele für in der vorliegenden Erfindung nützliche Starter für freie Radikale schließen Di-tert.-butylperoxid, Benzoylperoxid und andere Starter ein. Die Umsetzung wird bei einer Temperatur von 75ºC bis 175ºC, wobei 100ºC bis 150ºC bevorzugt sind, durchgeführt. Die Umsetzung wird im allgemeinen in 0,5 bis 12 Stunden, wobei 4 bis 6 Stunden bevorzugt sind, vollendet. Umsetzungen von Phosphiten mit α,β-ungesättigten Systemen sind in Tetrahedron, Bd. 22 (1966), Seiten 2561-2573 und Methoden der Organischen Chemie, Bd. 12/1, Seiten 463- 490, Houben-Weyl beschrieben.
- Verbindungen, die unter die allgemeine Formel (1) fallen, können, wenn Z ein Rest R&sub5; ist und a den Wert 0 hat, auch durch Umsetzung eines Phosphits mit einem Alkylhalogenid hergestellt werden. Die Umsetzung findet zwischen 50ºC und 200ºC statt, wobei 75ºC bis 150ºC bevorzugt sind. Es ist bevorzugt, daß das Alkylhalogenid ein primäres Alkylhalogenid ist. Die in der vorstehend angegebenen Umsetzung nützlichen Alkylreste sind aus Ethyl, Propyl, Butyl, Hexyl, Octyl und Dodecyl ausgewählt. Dodecyl und Octyl sind bevorzugt. Bevorzugte Alkylhalogenide sind Chloralkylhalogenide und Bromalkylhalogenide.
- Ein weiteres Verfahren, Verbindungen, die unter die allgemeine Formel (1) fallen, herzustellen, ist durch Umsetzung eines Phosphits mit einem Aldehyd oder Keton und der Vinyloder Allylverbindung. Die Umsetzung findet zwischen 75 ºC und 200 ºC statt, wobei 75ºC bis 150ºC bevorzugt sind. Obwohl die Umsetzung ohne Katalysator stattfinden kann, kann es von Vorteil sein, einen basischen Katalysator, wie Natriumhydroxid, zu verwenden. Nützliche Aldehyde schließen Aldehyde mit 1 bis 12, vorzugsweise 1 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatomen, oder Aldehydsynthone ein. Aldehydsynthone sind Materialien, die, obwohl sie kein Aldehyd sind, wie ein Aldehyd reagieren. Ein gut bekanntes Aldehydsynthon ist Paraformaldehyd, welcher bevorzugt ist. Bevorzugte Aldehyde sind Paraformaldehyd, Formaldehyd, Ethanal und Propanal, wobei Paraformaldehyd und Formaldehyd sogar mehr bevorzugt sind.
- Durch die allgemeine Formel (2) definierte Materialien können durch Umsetzung eines Phorphoroxychlorids mit einem Amin hergestellt werden. Die Umsetzung findet zwischen 50ºC und 200ºC statt, wobei 75ºC bis 15ºC bevorzugt sind. Die bei der vorliegenden Umsetzung nützlichen Amine sind primäre oder sekundäre Amine und enthalten 2 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatome. Vorzugsweise enthalten die Amine 1 bis 18, vorzugsweise 14 oder weniger Kohlenstoffatome. Beispiele dieser Amine schließen Propylamin, Butylamin, Hexylamin, Octylamin und Dodecylamin ein, sind aber nicht darauf beschränkt.
- Die folgenden Beispiele beschreiben in der vorliegenden Erfindung verwendbare phosphorhaltige Verbindungen.
- In einem geeigneten Gefäß werden 723 Teile (4,25 Mol) Polypropylentetramer mit 725 Teilen (5,25 Mol) Diethylwasserstoffphosphit vermischt und dann auf 130ºC erhitzt. Dann werden 50 g Di-t-butylperoxid in 5 g-Inkrementen über 8 Stunden zugefügt. Die Umsetzung wird bei 100ºC und 30 mm Hg (3,9 kPa) abgestreift. Der Rückstand (größere Menge) ist das Produkt.
- In einem geeigneten Gefäß werden 388 Teile (2 Mol) Dibutylphosphit und 236 Teile (2 Mol) 3-Sulfolen vermischt und dann auf 100ºC erhitzt. 1 Teil Natriumhydroxid und 60 Teile (2 Mol) Paraformaldehyd werden dem Gemisch zugegeben, das während 3 Stunden bei 100ºC gehalten wird. Die Umsetzung wird bei reduziertem Druck auf 150ºC und 30 mm Hg (3,9 kPa) abgestreigt. Der Rückstand (größere Menge) ist das Produkt.
- Die flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung umfassen eine größere Menge eines Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoffs und eine kleinere Menge mindestens einer löslichen phosphorhaltigen Zusammensetzung der vorher beschriebenen Arten. Eine "größere Menge" soll eine Menge einschließen, die gleich oder größer als 50 Gew.-% ist, wie 50,5%, 70%, 99%, etc. Der Begriff "kleinere Menge" schließt Mengen von weniger als 50 Gew.-% ein, wie 5%, 20%, 30% und bis zu 49,9%. Im allgemeinen macht der Fluor enthaltende Kohlenwasserstoff den Ausgleich der flüssigen Zusammensetzungen aus, d.h. ist in einer Menge vorhanden, um 100% der flüssigen Zusammensetzung zu liefern. Wenn beispielsweise die phosphorhaltige Zusammensetzung zu 5 Gew.-% vorliegt, dann würde der Fluor enthaltende Kohlenwasserstoff in einer Menge anwesend sein, um 100 Gew.-% einer flüssigen Zusammensetzung zu liefern, oder in diesem Fall zu 95 Gew.-%. In einer Ausführungsform werden die flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung von 70 bis 95 Gew.-% des Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoffs (A) und von 5 bis 30 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise von 5 bis 25 Gew.-%, stärker bevorzugt von 5 bis 22 Gew.-% der phosphorhaltigen Zusammensetzungen (B) umfassen. In einer weiteren Ausführungsform können die phosphorhaltigen Zusammensetzungen (B) als ein Schmiermittel oder eine Komponente einer Schmiermittelformulierung verwendet werden. Als ein Schmiermittel ist (B) in einer Menge von 9 bis 30, vorzugsweise 9 bis 25, stärker bevorzugt 10 bis 20 Gew.-% der flüssigen Zusammensetzungen vorhanden. Schmiermittel für ein ortsfestes Kompressorsystem sollten eine kinematische Viskosität bei 100ºC von mindestens 3 Centistoke (cSt) (3 x 10&supmin;&sup5; m²/s), vorzugsweise 3 cSt bis 2.000 cSt (3 x 10&supmin;&sup5; bis 2 x 10&supmin;² m²/s), sogar stärker bevorzugt von 3 bis 20 cSt (3 bis 20 x 10&supmin;&sup5; m²/s) besitzen. Für mobile Klimanlagen sollte das Schmiermittel eine Viskosität von größer als 10 cSt (1 x 10&supmin;&sup4; m²/s), vorzugsweise 10 bis 2.000 cSt (1 x 10&supmin;&sup4; - 2 x 10&supmin;² m²/s), stärker bevorzugt 10 bis 50 cSt (1-5 x 10&supmin;&sup4; m²/s) aufweisen.
- Vorzugsweise enthält die Schmiermittelformulierung ein Polyoxyalkylenglycol (C-1) oder einen Carbonsäureester (C-2 oder C-3) etwa 25 Gew.-% der flüssigen Zusammensetzung, vorzugsweise 10 bis 20%.
- Das Polyoxyalkylenglycol (C-1) oder der Carbonsäureester (C-2 und C-3) liegt in einer Menge vor, bei der die Gesamtmenge von phosphorhaltiger Zusammensetzung plus die Menge Polyoxyalkylenglycol oder Carbonsäureester in einer "kleineren Menge", bis zu 49,9 Gew.-%, vorliegt. Vorzugsweise liegt das Polyoxyalkylenglycol oder der Carbonsäureester in einer Menge bis zu 40 Gew.-%, stärker bevorzugt bis zu 30 Gew.-%, stärker bevorzugt bis zu 20 Gew.-% vor.
- In einer weiteren Ausführungsform liegen die verbundenen Mengen an phosphorhaltiger Zusammensetzung und dem Polyoxylakylenglycol oder Carbonsäureester in einer Menge von 5% bis 40%, vorzugsweise von 7,5% bis 30%, stärker bevorzugt von 10% bis 20% vor, wobei alle Prozentsätze bezogen auf das Gewicht der flüssigen Zusammensetzung angegeben sind.
- Nützliche Polyoxyalkylenglycole (C-1) besitzen eine Molekulargewicht zwischen 300 und 2.000, eine Viskosität von 25 bis 150 cSt (2,5 bis 15 x 10&supmin;&sup4; m²/s) bei 37ºC und einen Viskositätsindex von mindestens 20. Die Polyoxyalkylenglycole können Polyoxyethylenglycole oder Polyoxypropylenglycole sein. Nützliche Polyoxyethylenglycole sind von Union Carbide unter dem Warennamen Carbowax PEG 600, 1000 und 1450 erhältlich. Die Polyoxyalkylenglycole sind vorzugsweise Polyoxypropylenglycole, worin die Oxypropyleneinheiten mindestens 80% der Gesamtheit ausmachen. Die verbleibenden 20% können Ethylenoxid oder Butylenoxid oder andere, wie Ester, Olefine und dergleichen, sein, die mit Polypropylenoxid polarisiert sein können. Nützliche Polyoxypropylenglycole sind von Union Carbide unter den Warennamen NIAX 425 und NIAX 1025 erhältlich. Nützliche Polyoxypropylenglycole sind von Dow Chemical erhältlich und werden unter den Warennamen PPG-1200 und PPG-2000 verkauft.
- Polyoxyalkylenglycole, die als Schmiermittel für Kältemaschinen bzw. Kühlschränke nützlich sind, sind in der US-PS 4,755,316 beschrieben.
- In einer Ausführungsform umfaßt der Carbonsäureester (C-2) mindestens eine Carbonsäureesterverbindung, der folgenden allgemeinen Formel
- in der R' ein Hydrocarbylrest mit mindestens 2 Kohlenstoffatomen, R'&sub1; ein Hydrocarbylenrest, R'&sub2; ein Wasserstoffatom, Hydrocarbyl-, CF&sub3;-, R'&sub4;CN-, R'&sub4;NO&sub2;- oder R'&sub5;OCH(R'&sub6;)-Rest ist, R'&sub3; ein R'&sub4;CF&sub3;-, R'&sub4;CN- oder R'&sub4;NO&sub2;-Rest ist, mit der Maßgabe, daß R'&sub3; ein Hydrocarbylrest sein kann, wenn R'&sub2; ein R'&sub4;CH-Rest ist, g einen Wert von 1 bis 50 hat, R'&sub4; ein Hydrocarbylenrest ist, R'&sub5; ein Wasserstoffatom, ein Niederhydrocarbylrest oder ein R'&sub7;C(O)-Rest ist, worin R'&sub7; ein Hydrocarbylrest ist und R'&sub6; ein Wasserstoffatom oder ein Niederhydrocarbylrest ist.
- In den vorstehenden allgemeinen Formeln (TV) und (V) ist R' ein Hydrocarbylrest mit mindestens 2 Kohlenstoffatomen und ganz besonders ein Alkylrest mit 2 bis 50 Kohlenstoffatomen. Verzweigtkettige Alkylreste sind als Reste R' insbesondere nützlich, da die Gegenwart der Verzweigung die Löslichkeit des Schmiermittels in dem Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoff zu verbessern scheint. Beispiele für Reste R' schließen Ethyl-, Propylbutyl-, Hexyloctyl-, Decyl-, Dodecyl-, Tridecyl-, Hexadecyl-, Octadecyl-, höhere Alkylreste und Gemische aus einem oder mehreren davon ein. R'&sub1; ist ein Hydrocarbylenrest, der vorzugsweise 1 bis 7 Kohlenstoffatome enthält. Alkylenreste, wie Methylen, Ethylen, Propylen, 2-Methylethylen, 2-Ethylethylen etc., sind Beispiele von Hydrocarbylenresten, die als R'&sub1; nützlich sind. Wenn R'&sub2; ein Hydrocarbylrest ist, wird R'&sub2; im allgemeinen von 1 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten und wird häufiger ein Niederalkylrest, wie Methyl, Ethyl, Propyl, Butyl etc., sein.
- In den allgemeinen Formeln (IV) und (V) kann R'&sub2; auch ein Wasserstoffatom, ein CF&sub3;-, R'&sub4;CN-, R'&sub4;NO&sub2;- oder R'&sub5;OCH(R'&sub6;)-Rest sein, worin R'&sub4; ein Hydrocarbylenrest, vorzugsweise ein Alkylenrest, ist, der Rest R'&sub5; ein Niederhydrocarbylrest oder ein R'&sub7;C(O)-Rest ist, worin R'&sub7; ein Hydrocarbylrest ist, und der Rest R'&sub6; ein Wasserstoffatom oder ein Niederhydrocarbylrest ist. In einer Ausführungsform ist der Hydrocarbylenrest R'&sub4; ein Alkylenrest mit 1 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen und der Alkylenrest kann unverzweigt oder verzweigt sein. Der Rest R'&sub5; kann ein Niederhydrocarbylrest sein und spezifische Beispiele solcher Reste schließen die Methyl-, Ethyl-, Propylgruppe etc. ein. Der Rest R'&sub7; ist ein Hydrocarbylrest, der 1 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten kann und in einer Ausführungsform ist dieser Hydrocarbylrest auch ein Niederhydrocarbylrest.
- Die durch die allgemeine Formel (IV) dargestellten Verbindungen können durch im Stand der Technik wohlbekannte Techniken hergestellt werden. In einer Ausführungsform werden Ester vom Typ der allgemeinen Formel (IV) durch die Umsetzung einer Carbonsäure R'&sub2;COOH (oder ihrem Anhydrid) mit einem Alkoxyalkohol der allgemeinen Formel R'O(R'&sub1;O)qH hergestellt, in der R', R'&sub1; und q die vorstehend in bezug auf die allgemeine Formel (IV) angegebene Bedeutung haben. Die Alkoxyalkohole werden auch als Hydrocarbyl-endständige Polyoxyalkylenglycole bezeichnet und sind vorstehend erörtert. In einer Ausführungsform ist R'&sub1; ein verzweigtkettiger Hydrocarbylenrest mit 3, 4 oder 5 Kohlenstoffatomen. Beispielsweise kann R'&sub1; ein methyl- oder ethylsubstituierter Ethylenrest sein, der von Propylenoxid oder Butylenoxid abgeleitet ist.
- Die Carbonsäure R'&sub2;COOH, die mit dem Alkoxyalkohol umgesetzt werden kann, kann jede der Carbonsäuren sein, in der R'&sub2; ein Wasserstoffatom, ein Hydrocarbyl-, CF&sub3;-, R'&sub4;CN-, R'&sub4;NO&sub2;- oder R'&sub5;OCH(R'&sub6;)-Rest ist, worin R'&sub4;, R'&sub5; und R'&sub6; die vorstehend in bezug auf die allgemeinen Formeln (IV) und (V) angegebenen Bedeutungen haben. Die folgenden Beispiele veranschaulichen die verschiedenen Typen von Carbonsäuren, die durch die allgemeine Formel R'&sub2;COOH und einige Anhydride solcher Säuren beispielhaft gezeigt sind: Ameisensäure, Essigsäure, Essigsäureanhydrid, Propionsäure, Trifluoressigsäure, Trifluoressigsäureanhydrid, Cyanessigsäure, Cyanundecansäure, Nitroessigsäure, 3-Nitropropionsäure, Glycolsäure, Milchsäure, Methoxyessigsäure, Ethoxyessigsäure, Acetylessigsäure, etc.
- In einer weiteren Ausführungsform haben die Carbonsäureester die folgende allgemeine Formel
- R'&sub3;OC(O)R'&sub2;, (V)
- in der der Rest R'&sub2; ein Wasserstoffatom, Hydrocarbyl-, Hydrocarbyloxyhydrocarbyl-, CF&sub3;-, R'&sub4;CN-, R'&sub4;NO&sub2;- oder R'&sub5;OCH(R'&sub6;)-Rest ist und der Rest R'&sub3; ein R'&sub4;CF&sub3;, R'&sub4;CN oder R'&sub4;NO&sub2;-Rest ist, worin R'&sub4;, R'&sub5; und R'&sub6; die in der allgemeinen Formel (IV) angegebene Bedeutung haben, mit der Maßgabe, daß R'&sub3; ein Hydrocarbylrest ist, wenn R'&sub2; ein R'&sub4;CN-Rest ist. Solche Carbonsäureester können durch im Stand der Technik bekannte Verfahren hergestellt werden, wie beispielsweise durch die Umsetzung einer wie vorstehend beschriebenen Carbonsäure R'&sub2;COOH oder dem Anhydrid dieser Säure mit Hydroxygruppen enthaltenden Verbindungen, wie den folgenden: R'&sub3;OH, HOR'&sub4;CN, HOR'&sub4;NO&sub2;, HOR'&sub4;CF&sub3;, worin R'&sub4; ein Hydrocarbylenrest ist. In einer Ausführungsform ist R'&sub4; ein geradkettiger oder verzweigtkettiger Alkylenrest mit 1 bis 20 und ganz besonders mit 1 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen.
- Wie vorstehend bemerkt wurde, kann in der allgemeinen Formel (V) R'&sub3; ein Hydrocarbylrest sein, wenn R'&sub2; ein R'&sub4;CN- Rest ist. Der Hydrocarbylrest kann von 1 bis 50, stärker bevorzugt von 1 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten. R'&sub3; ist vorzugsweise ein verzweigtkettiger Alkylrest mit 3 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen. Ester der allgemeinen Formel (V), in denen R'&sub3; ein Hydrocarbylrest ist, werden durch Umsetzung der Carbonsäure (R'&sub2;COOH) oder ihrem Anhydrid mit einem Alkohol R'&sub3;OH, worin R'&sub3; die vorstehend angegebene Bedeutung hat, hergestellt. Beispiele für nützliche Alkohole schließen Methylalkohol, Ethylalkohol, Amylalkohol, Octylalkohol, Isooctylalkohol, Decylalkohol, Isodecylalkohol, Tridecyalkohol, Octadecylalkohol etc. ein.
- Die mit der Carbonsäure oder dem Carbonsäureanhydrid umgesetzte Hydroxyverbindung kann auch die allgemeine Formel HOR'&sub4;CN besitzen, in der R'&sub4; ein Hydrocarbylenrest ist. Spezifische Beispiele solcher eine Hydroxygruppe enthaltenden Verbindungen schließen 2-Cyanethanol, 2-Cyan-1-propanol etc. ein. Beispiele für Hydroxyverbindungen der allgemeinen Formel HOR'&sub4;NO&sub2;, die mit den Säure- oder Anhydridverbindungen umgesetzt werden können, schließen 2-Nitroethanol, 2- Methyl-2-nitropropanol, 3-Nitro-2-butanol, 2-Nitro-1-propanol, 3-Nitro-2-pentanol etc. ein. Beispiele für Hydroxyverbindungen der allgemeinen Formel HOCH&sub2;CF&sub3; schließen 2,2,2- Trifluorethanol, 1,1,1-Trifluor-2-propanol, 2-Trifluormethyl-2-propanol etc. ein.
- Die in der vorliegenden Erfindung nützlichen Carbonsäureesterverbindungen der allgemeinen Formeln (IV) und (V) können durch Umsetzung einer Carbonsäure (R'&sub2;COOH) oder ihrem Anhydrid mit jeder der vorstehend beschriebenen hydroxylhaltigen Verbindungen hergestellt werden. Im allgemeinen werden etwa äquivalente Mengen der Säure oder des Anhydrids und der hydroxylhaltigen Verbindungen bei der Umsetzung verwendet, die eine typische Veresterungsumsetzung ist. Obwohl für die Anhydride kein Katalysator erforderlich ist, ist die Veresterungsumsetzung mit der Carbonsäure im allgemeinen säurekatalysiert. Typischerweise wird etwa 1 Gew.-% eines sauren Katalysators, wie einer Mineralsäure oder p-Toluolsulfonsäure, in dem Umsetzungesgemisch verwendet. Das Gemisch wird erhitzt und gerührt, während Wasser entfernt wird, wenn die freien Säuren verwendet werden, und gegebenenfalls überschüssige Carbonsäure. Die Umsetzung kann in Gegenwart von Lösungsmittel, wie Kohlenwasserstofflösungsmitteln, einschließlich Toluol, Xylol etc. durchgeführt werden.
- Die folgenden Beispiele veranschaulichen die Herstellung der Carbonsäureester (C-2), die in der vorliegenden Erfindung nützlich sind. Die Neutralisationszahl ist die Menge an Kaliumhydroxid (KOH) oder Salzsäure (HCl) in Milligramm (mg) um 1 g der Probe zu neutralisieren.
- In ein Umsetzungsgefäß werden 244 Teile Neodol 23-6.5 eingebracht, und die Inhalte des Gefäßes werden auf 90ºC erhitzt, während Stickstoff durch die Flüssigkeit geblasen wird. Eine tropfenweise Zugabe von 51 Teilen Essigsäureanhydrid wird begonnen, und die Zugabe erfordert etwa 0,5 Stunden. Zusätzliche 5 Teile Essigsäure werden dem Umsetzungsgemisch zugesetzt, und das Gemisch wird auf 100ºC erhitzt. Diese Verfahrensweise wird zweimal wiederholt, und das Gemisch wird anschließend 2 Stunden lang bei etwa 100ºC gehalten, worauf das Gemisch bei 135ºC und 30 mm Hg (3,9 kPa) abgestreift wird. Der Rückstand wird durch ein Gemisch filtriert, das etwa 10 Teile Kieselgur und etwa 3 Teile Calciumhydroxid enthält. Das Filtrat ist das gewünschte Produkt. Das Filtrat besitzt eine Neutralisierungssäurezahl zu Phenolphthalein von 2,8 mg KOH und eine Neutralisierungsbasenzahl zu Bromphenolblau von 0,3 mg HCl.
- Es wird ein Gemisch aus 630 Teilen (1 Äquivalent) Alfonic 1412-60, etwa 75 Teilen (etwa 1,0 Äquivalent) Ameisensäure, etwa 50 Teilen Toluol und 2 Teilen p-Toluolsulfonsäure hergestellt und unter Rühren auf 100ºC erhitzt. Azeotropes Wasser wird über 8 Stunden lang gesammelt, und das Umsetzungsgemisch wird anschließend bei 100ºC abgestreift. Der Rückstand wird filtriert, und das Filtrat ist der gewünschte Ester. Ein Infrarotspektrum des Filtrates zeigt keine Hydroxylgruppenabsorption bei etwa 3.400 cm&supmin;¹.
- Ein Gemisch aus 133 Teilen (0,287 Mol) Alfonic 1012-60, 20 Teilen (0,33 Mol) Essigsäure, etwa 50 Teilen Toluol und 5 Teilen einer angesäuerten Tonerde wird hergestellt und zum Rückfluß erhitzt. Das Gemisch wird für etwa 12 Stunden auf der Rückflußtemperatur gehalten. Schwefelsäure (2 Teile) wird zugesetzt und die Umsetzung wird für zusätzliche 8 Stunden durchgeführt, während Wasser entfernt wird. Der Rückstand wird filtriert, und das Filtrat wird bei reduziertem Druck abgestreift, um schwach bernsteinfarbenes Öl zu ergeben, welches das gewünschte Produkt ist.
- Alfonic 1412-60 (127 Teile, 0,25 Mol) wird in ein Umsetzungsgefäß eingebracht, und anschließend werden 53 Teile (0,26 Mol) Trifluoressigsäure zugefügt. Es erfolgt eine exotherme Reaktion, welche die Temperatur auf etwa 72ºC erhöht. Das Gemisch wird anschließend für eine Stunde bei etwa 100ºC erhitzt und unter reduziertem Druck bei 70ºC für etwa 1,5 Stunden abgestreift. Der Rückstand ist das gewünschte Produkt.
- Es wird ein Gemisch aus 170 Teilen (2 Mol) Cyanessigsäure, 400 Teilen (2 Mol Tridecylalkohol und 10 Teilen einer mit Schwefelsäure behandelten Tonerde hergestellt, und das Gemisch wird auf etwa 150ºC erhitzt. Wasser wird sehr schnell entwickelt und entfernt. Das Umsetzungsgemisch wird auf 120ºC abgekühlt und bei dieser Temperatur für 6 Stunden gehalten. Nach dem Abkühlen wird das Produkt filtriert, und das Filtrat ist das gewünschte Produkt.
- Es wird ein Gemisch aus 577 Teilen (1 Mol) Sandopan DTC (Carbonsäure der allgemeinen Formel R' (OCH&sub2;CH&sub2;)nOCH&sub2;COOH, in der der Rest R' aliphatisch ist und n ein Wert von 1 bis etwa 10 ist) , 119 Teilen (1 Mol) 2-Methyl-2-nitropropanol und 10 Teilen des Katalysators Amberlyst 15 hergestellt, und die Temperatur des Gemisches wird erhöht. Es entwickelt sich Wasser und wird aus dem Umsetzungsgemisch entfernt. Sobald das Wasser entfernt ist, ist die maximale Umsetzungstemperatur von 140ºC erreicht. Der Rückstand ist das gewünschte Produkt.
- Es wird ein Gemisch aus 516 Teilen (3 Mol) Decansäure und 357 Teilen (3 Mol) 2-Methyl-2-nitropropanol hergestellt, und das Gemisch wird auf etwa 150ºC erhitzt. Wasser wird entfernt, wenn es sich entwickelt. Wenn alles Wasser entfernt ist, wird das Umsetzungsgemisch filtriert, und das Filtrat ist das gewünschte Produkt.
- Andere Ester des Typs, der allgemeinen Formeln (IV) und (V) können durch Verfahrensweisen hergestellt werden, die den Verfahrensweisen in den Beispielen 3 bis 7 ähnlich sind, welche mit der Umsetzung einer Carbonsäure R'&sub2;COOH und den vorstehend erörterten hydroxylhaltigen Verbindungen befaßt sind. Spezifische Beispiele von Säuren und hydoxylhaltigen Verbindungen, die umgesetzt werden können, um die gewünschten Ester dieser Erfindung zu erzeugen, sind in Tabelle I gezeigt. - In einer weiteren Ausführungsform umfaßt der Carbonsäureester (C-3) mindestens einen Carbonsäureester einer Polyhydroxyverbindung, die mindestens 2 Hydroxyreste enthält, mit allgemeinen Formel
- R" (O(O)CR"&sub1;)r (VI)
- in der der Rest R" ein Hydrocarbylrest ist, jeder Rest R"&sub1; unabhängig ein Wasserstoffatom, ein geradkettiger Niederhydrocarbylrest, ein verzweigtkettiger Hydrocarbylrest oder ein geradkettiger Hydrocarbylrest mit 8 bis 22 Kohlenstoffatomen ist, mit der Maßgabe, daß mindestens ein Rest R" ein Wasserstoffatom, ein geradkettiger Niederhydrocarbylrest oder ein verzweigtkettiger Hydrocarbylrest oder ein eine Carbonsäure- oder einen Carbonsäureester-enthaltender Hydrocarbylrest ist und r mindestens 2 ist.
- Der Carbonsäureester ist das Umsetzungsprodukt einer oder mehrerer Carbonsäuren (oder den niedrigeren Estern davon, wie Methyl-, Ethylester etc.) mit Polyhydroxyverbindungen, die wenigstens zwei Hydroxyreste enthalten. Die Polyhydroxyverbindungen können durch die allgemeine Formel R"(OH)r dargestellt werden, in der R" ein Hydrocarbylrest und r mindestens 2 ist. Der Hydrocarbylrest kann 4 bis 50, stärker bevorzugt 4 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten und der Hydrocarbylrest kann auch ein oder mehrere Stickstoff- und/oder Sauerstoffatome enthalten. Die Polyhydroxyverbindungen werden im allgemeinen 2 bis 10 und stärker bevorzugt 3 bis 10 Hydroxylgruppen enthalten. Die Polyhydroxyverbindung kann einen oder mehrere Oxyalkylenreste enthalten und so schließen die Polyhydroxyverbindungen Verbindungen, wie Polyetherpolyole, ein. Die Zahl der Kohlenstoffatome und die Zahl der Hydroxylreste, die in der Polyhydroxyverbindung enthalten sind, die zur Erzeugung der Carbonsäureester verwendet wird, kann über einen breiten Bereich variieren, und es ist nur erforderlich, daß der mit den Polyhydroxyverbindungen hergestellte Carbonsäureester in dem Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoff (A) löslich ist.
- Die bei der Herstellung der Carbonsäureester verwendeten Polyhydroxyverbindungen können auch ein oder mehrere Stickstofatome enthalten. Beispielsweise kann die Polyhydroxyverbindung ein Alkanolamin mit 3 bis 6 Hydroxylresten sein. In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform ist die Polyhydroxyverbindung ein Alkanolamin mit mindestens zwei Hydroxylresten und stärker bevorzugt mindestens drei Hydroxylresten.
- Spezifische Beispiele für in der vorliegenden Erfindung nützliche Polyhydroxyverbindungen schließen Ethylenglycol, Diethylenglycol, Triethylenglycol, Propylenglycol, Dipropylenglycol, Glycerol, Neopentylglycol, 1,2-, 1,3- und 1,4- Butandiole, Pentaerythrit, Dipentaerythrit, Tripentaerythrit, Triglycerol, Trimethylolpropan, Sorbitol, Hexaglycerol, 2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,3-pentandiol etc. ein. Es können Gemische jeder der vorstehenden Polyhydroxyverbindungen verwendet werden.
- Die bei der Herstellung der Carbonsäureester (C-3) der vorliegenden Erfindung verwendeten Carbonsäuren können durch die allgemeine Formel R"&sub1;COOH gekennzeichent sein, in der der Rest R"&sub1; (a) ein Wasserstoffatom, (b) ein geradkettiger Niederhydrocarbylrest, (c) ein verzweigtkettiger Hydrocarbylrest oder (d) ein Gemisch aus (b) oder (b) und (c) mit einem geradkettigen Hydrocarbylrest, der 8 bis 22 Kohlenstoffatome enthält, oder (e) ein eine Carbonsäureoder einen Carbonsäureester-enthaltenden Hydrocarbylrest ist. Anders ausgedrückt muß mindestens ein Rest R"&sub1; im Ester der allgemeinen Formel (VI) einen geradkettigen Niederhydrocarbylrest oder einen verzweigtkettigen Hydrocarbylrest enthalten. Der geradkettige Niederhydrocarbylrest (R"&sub1;) enthält 1 bis 7 und in einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform 1 bis 5 Kohlenstoffatome. Der verzweigtkettige Hydrocarbylrest kann jede Anzahl von Kohlenstoffatomen enthalten und wird im allgemeinen 4 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatome aufweisen. In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform enthält der verzweigtkettige Kohlenwasserstoffrest 5 bis 20 und in einer stärker bevorzugten Ausführungsform 5 bis 14 Kohlenstoffatome. Der geradkettige Hydrocarbylrest mit hohem Molekulargewicht, der 8 bis 22 Kohlenstoffatome enthält, wird in einigen Ausführungsformen 8 bis 18 und in stärker bevorzugten Ausführungsformen 8 bis 14 Kohlenstoffatome enthalten.
- In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform haben die verzweigtkettigen Hydrocarbylreste die allgemeine Formel
- -C(R"&sub2;) (R"&sub3;) (R"&sub4;)
- in der R"&sub2;, R"&sub3; und R"&sub4; jeweils unabhängig Alkylreste sind und mindestens einer der Alkylreste 2 oder mehr Kohlenstoffatome enthält. Solche verzweigtkettigen Alkylreste werden in der Technik als Neo-Reste bezeichnet, wenn sie an einen Carboxylrest angegliedert sind, und die Säuren werden als Neo-Säuren bezeichnet. In einer Ausführungsform sind R"&sub2; und R"&sub3; Methylgruppen und R"&sub4; ist ein Alkylrest, der 2 oder mehr Kohlenstoffatome enthält.
- Jeder der vorstehenden Hydrocarbylreste (R"&sub1;) kann einen oder mehrere Carboxyreste oder Carboxyesterreste enthalten, wie -COOR"&sub5;, worin R"&sub5; ein Niederalkyl-, Hydroxyalkyl- oder ein Hydroxyalkyloxyrest ist. Solche substituierten Hydrocarbylreste liegen vor, wenn zum Beispiel die Carbonsäure R"&sub1;COOH eine Dicarbonsäure oder ein Monoester einer Dicarbonsäure ist. Im allgemeinen ist jedoch die Säure R"COOH eine Monocarbonsäure, da Polycarbonsäuren dazu neigen, polymere Produkte zu bilden, wenn die Umsetzungsbedingungen und Mengen an Ausgangsstoffen nicht sorgfältig reguliert werden. Gemische aus Monocarbonsäuren und geringen Mengen an Dicarbonsäuren oder Anhydriden sind bei der Herstellung der Carbonsäureester nützlich.
- Beispiele für Carbonsäuren, die einen geradkettigen Niederhydrocarbylrest enthalten, schließen Ameisensäure, Essigsäure, Propionsäure, Butansäure, Pentansäure, Hexansäure und Heptansäure ein. Beispiele von Carbonsäuren, in denen der Hydrocarbylrest ein verzweigtkettiger Hydrocarbylrest ist, schließen 2-Ethyl-n-butansäure, 2-Hexyldecansäure, Isononansäure, Isostearinsäure, 2-Methylhexansäure, 3,5,5- Trimethylhexansäure, 2-Ethylhexansäure, Neoheptansäure, Neodecansäure, und technische Gemische verzweigtkettiger Carbonsäuren, wie ein Gemisch aus Neododecansäure und Neotetradecansäure mit einem Molekulargewicht von etwa 206 pro Säurezahl, als Neo 1214 Säure von Exxon ausgewiesen, ein.
- Der dritte Typ von Carbonsäure, der bei der Herstellung der Carbonsäureester verwendet werden kann, sind die Säuren, die einen geradkettigen Hydrocarbylrest mit 8 bis 22 Kohlenstoffatomen enthalten. Wie vorstehend bemerkt wurde, können diese geradkettigen Säuren mit höherem Molekulargewicht nur in Verbindung mit einer der anderen vorstehend beschriebenen Säuren verwendet werden, da die geradkettigen Säuren mit höherem Molekulargewicht in den Fluorkohlenwasserstoffen nicht löslich sind. Beispiele für solche geradkettigen Säuren mit höherem Molekulargewicht schließen Decansäure, Dodecansäure, Stearinsäure, Laurinsäure, Behensäure etc. ein. Beispiele von Dicarbonsäuren schließen Melinsäure, Bernsteinsäure etc. ein.
- In einer weiteren Ausführungsform können die für die Herstellung der Carbonsäureester (C-3) verwendeten Carbonsäuren ein Gemisch einer größeren Menge von Monocarbonsäuren und einer kleineren Menge von Dicarbonsäuren umfassen. Die Anwesenheit von Dicarbonsäuren resultiert in der Erzeugung von Estern mit höherer Viskosität. Die Verwendung von Gemischen, die größere Mengen Dicarbonsäuren enthalten, sollte vermieden werden, da das Esterprodukt größere Mengen polymere Ester enthalten wird, und solche Gemische können in den Fluorkohlenwasserstoffen unlöslich sein. Ein Beispiel für ein solches Gemisch sind 80 Teile Neoheptansäure und 20 Teile Bernsteinsäure.
- Die Carbonsäureester der allgemeinen Formel (VI) werden wie vorstehend erwähnt durch Umsetzung mindestens einer Carbonsäure mit mindestens einer Polyhydroxyverbindung, die mindestens zwei Hydroxyreste enthält, hergestellt. Die Erzeugung von Estern durch die Wechselwirkung von Carbonsäuren und Alkoholen ist säurekatalysiert und ist ein reversibles bzw. umkehrbares Verfahren, das durch die Verwendung einer großen Menge Alkohol oder durch Entfernung des bei der Umsetzung erzeugten Wassers vervollständigt werden kann. Wenn der Ester durch Umesterung eines Oarbonsäureesters mit niederem Molekulargewicht erzeugt wird, kann die Umsetzung durch Entfernung des bei der Umesterungsreaktion erzeugten Alkohols mit niederem Molekulargewicht vervollständigt werden. Die Veresterungsreaktion kann entweder durch organische Säuren oder anorganische Säuren katalysiert werden.
- Beispiele für anorganische Säuren beinhalten Schwefelsäuren und angesäuerte Tonerden. Eine Vielfalt von organischen Säuren kann verwendet werden, einschließlich p-Toluolsulfonsäure, saure Harze, wie Amberlyst 15 etc. Organometallische Katalysatoren schließen beispielsweise Tetraisopropoxyorthotitanat ein.
- Die in dem Umsetzungsgemisch enthaltenen Mengen an Carbonsäuren und Polyhydroxyverbindungen können abhängig von den gewünschten Ergebnissen variiert werden. Falls es gewünscht wird, alle in den Polyhydroxyverbindungen enthaltenen Hydroxylreste zu verestern, sollte ausreichend Carbonsäure im Gemisch vorhanden sein, um mit allen Hydroxylresten zu reagieren. Wenn in Übereinstimmung mit der vorliegenden Erfindung Gemische der Alkohole mit einer Polyhydroxyverbindung umgesetzt werden, können die Carbonsäuren aufeinanderfolgend mit den Polyhydroxyverbindungen umgesetzt werden, oder es kann ein Gemisch aus Carbonsäuren hergestellt werden und das Gemisch mit den Polyhydroxyverbindungen umgesetzt werden. In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform, in der Säuregemische verwendet werden, wird die Polyhydroxyverbindung zuerst mit einer Carbonsäure, im allgemeinen der verzweigtkettigen oder geradkettigen Carbonsäure mit hohem Molekulargewicht, umgesetzt, gefolgt von der Umsetzung mit der geradkettigen Niederhydrocarbylcarbonsäure. Gemäß der Beschreibung und den Ansprüchen ist es ersichtlich, daß die Ester auch durch Umsetzung der Polyhydroxyverbindung mit den Anhydriden jeder der vorstehend beschriebenen Carbonsäuren erzeugt werden können. Beispielsweise werden Ester leicht durch Umsetzung der Polyhydroxyverbindung entweder mit Essigsäure oder Essigsäureanhydrid hergestellt.
- Die Erzeugung der Ester durch Umsetzung von Carbonsäuren oder Anhydriden mit den Polyhydroxyverbindungen, die vorstehend beschrieben ist, kann durch Erhitzen der Säuren oder Anhydride, der Polyhydroxyverbindungen und einem sauren Katalysator auf eine erhöhte Temperatur bewirkt werden, während bei der Umsetzung erzeugtes Wasser oder Alkohole min niedrigem Molekulargewicht entfernt werden. Im allgemeinen sind Temperaturen von 75ºC bis 200ºC oder höher für die Umsetzung ausreichend. Die Umsetzung ist beendet, wenn kein Wasser oder Alkohol mit niederem Molekulargewicht mehr gebildet wird, und eine solche Beendigung wird angezeigt, wenn Wasser oder Alkohole mit niedrigem Molekulargewicht nicht mehr durch Destillation entfernt werden können.
- In einigen Fällen ist es erwünscht, Carbonsäureester herzustellen, in denen nicht alle Hydroxylreste verestert worden sind. Solche Teilester können durch die vorstehend beschriebenen Techniken hergestellt werden und durch Verwendung von Mengen der Säure oder der Säuren, die nicht ausreichend sind, um alle Hydroxylreste zu verestern.
- Die folgenden Beispiele veranschaulichen die Herstellung zusätzlicher Carbonsäureester (C-3), die in den flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der Erfindung nützlich sind.
- Ein Gemisch aus 872 Teilen (6,05 Mol) 2-Ethylhexansäure, 184 Teilen (2 Mol) Glycerol und 200 Teilen Toluol wird hergestellt und mit Stickstoff durchblasen, während das Gemisch auf etwa 60ºC erhitzt wird. Es wird p-Toluolsulfonsäure (5 Teile) zu dem Gemisch zugefügt, das anschließend auf Rückflußtemperatur erhitzt wird. Bei etwa 120ºC destilliert ein Wasser/Toluol-Azeotrop. Für etwa 8 Stunden wird eine Temperatur von 125 bis 130ºC aufrechterhalten, nachfolgend eine Temperatur von 140ºC für 2 Stunden, während Wasser entfernt wird. Der Rückstand ist der gewünschte Ester.
- In ein Reaktionsgefäß werden 600 Teile (2,5 Mol) Triglycerol und 1428 Teile (14 Mol) Essigsäureanhydrid eingebracht. Das Gemisch wird zum Rückfluß in einer Stickstoffatmosphäre erhitzt und für etwa 9,5 Stunden bei der Rückflußtemperatur (125 bis 130ºC) gehalten. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird unter reduziertem Druck bei 150ºC und 15 mm Hg (1,9 kPa) abgestreift. Der Rückstand wird durch einen Filterhilfsstoff filtriert, und das Filtrat ist der gewünschte Ester.
- Es wird ein Gemisch aus 364 Teilen (2 Mol) Sorbitol und 340 Teilen (2 Mol) eines technischen geradkettigen C&sub8;&submin;&sub1;&sub0;-Methylester (Procter & Gamble) hergestellt und auf 180ºC erhitzt. Das Gemisch ist ein Zweiphasensystem. Es wird p- Toluolsulfonsäure (1 Teil) zugefügt, und das Gemisch wird auf 150ºC erhitzt, worauf die Umsetzung beginnt und sich Wasser und Methanol entwickeln. Wenn die Lösung homogen wird, werden 250 Teile (2,5 Mol) Essigsäureanhydrid unter Rühren zugefügt. Das Umsetzungsgemisch wird anschließend bei 150ºC abgestreift und filtriert. Das Filtrat ist der gewünschte Sorbitolester.
- Es wird ein Gemisch aus 402 Teilen (3 Mol) Trimethylolpropan, 660 Teilen (3 Mol) eines technischen geradkettigen Methylesters, der ein Gemisch aus etwa 75% C&sub1;&sub2;-Methylester und etwa 25% C&sub1;&sub4;-Methylester (CE1270 von Procter & Gamble) umfaßt, und Tetraisopropoxyorthotitanat hergestellt und auf 200ºC unter schwachem Einblasen von Stickstoff hergestellt. Die Umsetzung wird über Nacht bei dieser Temperatur fortgesetzt, und in 16 Stunden werden 110 Teile Methanol gesammelt. Das Umsetzungsgemisch wird auf 150ºC abgekühlt und 100 Teile Essigsäure und 50 Teile Toluol werden hinzugefügt, gefolgt durch die Zugabe von zusätzlichen 260 Teilen Essigsäure. Das Gemisch wird auf etwa 150ºC für mehrere Stunden erhitzt, was den gewünschten Ester ergibt.
- Es wird ein Gemisch aus 408 Teilen (3 Mol) Pentaerythrit und 660 Teilen (3 Mol) des in Beispiel 21 verwendeten CE1270-Methylesters mit 5 Teilen Tetraisopropylorthotitanat hergestellt, und das Gemisch wird unter einer Stickstoffspülung auf 220ºC erhitzt. Keine Umsetzung tritt ein. Das Gemisch wird anschließend auf 130ºC abgekühlt, und es werden 250 Teile Essigsäure zugesetzt. Es wird eine kleine Menge p-Toluolsulfonsäure zugefügt, und das Gemisch wird bei etwa 200ºC 2 Tage lang gerührt, und es werden 60 Teile Methanol entfernt. Zu dieser Zeit werden 450 Teile Essigsäureanhydrid zugefügt, und das Gemisch wird bei 150ºC gerührt, bis sich das Essigsäure/Wasser-Azeotrop nicht länger entwickelt. Der Rückstand wird durch ein Filterhilfsstoff filtriert, und das Filtrat ist der gewünschte Ester von Pentaerythrit.
- Es wird ein Gemisch aus 544 Teilen (4 Mol) Pentaerythrit, 820 Teilen (4 Mol) Neo 1214-Säure, ein technisches Säuregemisch, das von Exxon erhältlich ist, 408 Teilen (4 Mol) Essigsäureanhydrid und 50 Teilen Amberlyst 15 hergestellt und auf etwa 120ºC erhitzt, worauf Wasser und Essigsäure zu destillieren beginnen. Nachdem etwa 150 Teile Wasser/Essigsäure gesammelt sind, wird die Temperatur auf etwa 200ºC erhöht. Das Gemisch wird bei dieser Temperatur für einige Tage gehalten und abgestreift. Um alle verbliebenen Hydroxylreste zu verestern, wird Essigsäureanhydrid zugefügt. Das Produkt wird filtriert, und das Filtrat ist der gewünschte Ester.
- Es wird ein Gemisch aus 508 Teilen (2 Mol) Dipentaerythrit, 812 Teilen (8 Mol) Essigsäureanhydrid, 10 Teilen einer acidifizierten Tonerde als Katalysator und 100 Teilen Xylol hergestellt und auf 100ºC erhitzt. Diese Temperatur wird aufrechterhalten bis das feste Dipentaerythrit aufgelöst ist. Es wird ein Wasser/Essigsäure-Azeotrop gesammelt, und wenn die Entwicklungsgeschwindigkeit abnimmt, wird das Umsetzungsgemisch mit Stickstoff durchblasen. Es werden etwa 100 bis 200 Teile Essigsäure zugefügt, und die Umsetzung wird fortgesetzt, indem zusätzliches Wasser/Essigsäure/Xylol-Azeotrop gesammelt wird. Wenn eine Infrarotanalyse des Umsetzungsgemisches ein Minimum an freien Hydroxylresten anzeigt, wird das Umsetzungsgemisch abgestreift und filtriert. Das Filtrat ist das gewünschte Produkt, das sich verfestigt.
- Ein Gemisch aus 372 Teilen (1 Mol) Tripentaerythrit, 910 Teilen (7 Mol) Neoheptansäure und 30 Teilen des Katalysators Amberlyst 15 wird hergestellt und auf 110ºC unter Entfernung von Wasser erhitzt. Das Gemisch wird insgesamt 48 Stunden lang erhitzt und nicht umgesetzte Säure wird durch Abstreifen des Gemisches entfernt. Der Rückstand ist der gewünschte Ester.
- Ein Gemisch aus 1032 Teilen (6 Mol) Neodecansäure und 318 Teilen (3 Mol) Diethylenglycol wird hergestellt und auf 130ºC in Gegenwart von 20 Teilen Amberlyst 15 erhitzt. Nach 24stündigem Erhitzen und der Entfernung von etwa 90 Teilen Wasser werden 20 Teile Amberlyst 15 zugefügt, und die Umsetzung wird für weitere 24 Stunden durchgeführt. Der Rückstand ist der gewünschte Ester.
- Es wird ein Gemisch aus 200 Teilen (2 Mol) Bernsteinsäureanhydrid und 62 Teilen (1 Mol) Ethylenglycol auf 120ºC erhitzt und das Gemisch wird flüssig. Es werden 5 Teile saure Tonerde als Katalysator zugesetzt, und es tritt eine exotherme Reaktion auf etwa 180ºC ein. Es wird Isooctanol (260 Teile, 2 Mol) zugesetzt, und das Umsetzungsgemisch wird bei 130ºC gehalten, wobei Wasser entfernt wird. Wenn das Umsetzungsgemisch trüb wird, wird eine kleine Menge Propanol zugefügt, und das Gemisch wird über Nacht bei 100ºC gerührt. Dann wird das Umsetzungsgemisch filtriert, um Spuren von Oligomeren zu entfernen, und das Filtrat ist der gewünschte Ester.
- Es wird ein Gemisch aus 994 Teilen (3 Mol) Maleinsäureanhydrid und 91 Teilen (1,5 Mol) Ethylenglycol hergestellt und auf etwa 80ºC erhitzt, worauf eine stark exotherme Reaktion eintritt und die Temperatur des Gemisches auf etwa 120 ºC erhöht wird. Wenn die Temperatur des Gemisches sich auf etwa 100ºC abkühlt, werden 222 Teile (3 Mol) n-Butylalkohol und 10 Teile Amberlyst 15 zugefügt. Es beginnt sich Wasser zu entwickeln und wird gesammelt. Das Umsetzungsgemisch wird bei 120ºC gehalten, bis 50 Teile Wasser gesammelt sind. Der Rückstand wird filtriert, und das Filtrat ist das gewünschte Produkt.
- Es wird ein Gemisch aus 1072 Teilen (8 Mol) Trimethylolpropan, 2080 Teilen (16 Mol) Neoheptansäure und 50 Teilen Amberlyst 15 hergestellt und auf etwa 130ºC erhitzt. Es entwickelt sich ein Wasser/Säure-Azeotrop, und es wird entfernt. Wenn etwa 250 Teile des Azeotrops entfernt worden sind, werden 584 Teile (4 Mol) Adipinsäure zugefügt, und die Umsetzung geht weiter, um zusätzliche 450 Teile Destillat zu erzeugen. Zu dieser Zeit werden 65 Teile Trimethylolpropan zu dem Gemisch zugefügt, und zusätzliches Wasser wird entfernt. Der Rückstand wird filtriert, und das Filtrat ist der gewünschte Ester.
- Die flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung sind dadurch gekennzeichnet, über einen großen Temperaturbereich eine verbesserte thermische und chemische Stabilität aufzuweisen. Falls sie in der Flüssigkeit löslich sind, können weitere Additive, die dafür bekannt sind, die Eigenschaften Halogen enthaltender Kohlenwasserstoffkühlmittel zu verbessern, in den flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung eingeschlossen sein, um die Merkmale der Flüssigkeit als ein Kühlmittel zu verbessern. Jedoch sind Kohlenwasserstofföle, wie Mineralöl, im allgemeinen nicht in den flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der Erfindung eingeschlossen und sind häufig davon ausgeschlossen, insbesondere wenn der Fluor enthaltende Kohlenwasserstoff kein weiteres Halogen enthält.
- Die Additive, die in den flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung eingeschlossen sein können, um die Leistungsfähigkeit der Flüssigkeiten zu verbessern, schließen Hochdruck- und Antiverschleißmittel, Verbesserer für die Oxidation und thermische Stabilität, Korrosionsinhibitoren, Viskositätsverbesserer, Pourpoint- und/oder Flocpointerniedriger, Detergents, Dispersants, Schaumdämpfer, Viskositätseinsteller etc. ein. Wie vorstehend bemerkt, müssen diese zusätzlichen Additive in den flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der Erfindung löslich sein. In den Materialien, die als Hochdruck- und Antiverschleißmittel verwendet werden können, sind Phosphate, Phosphatester, Phosphite, Thiophosphate, wie Zink-diorganodithiophosphate, Dithiocarbamate, chlorierte Wachse, geschwefelte Fette und Olefine, organische Bleiverbindungen, Fettsäuren, Molybdänkomplexe, Borate, halogensubstituierte Phosphorverbindungen, geschwefelte Diels-Alder-Addukte, organische Sulfide, Metallsalze von organischen Säuren etc. eingeschlossen. Sterisch gehinderte Phenole, aromatische Amine, Dithiophosphate, Phosphite, Sulfide und Metallsalze von Dithiosäuren sind nützliche Beispiele für Verbesserer der Oxidation und thermischen Stabilität. Als Korrosionsinhibitoren nützliche Verbindungen schließen organische Säuren, organische Amine, organische Alkohole, Metallsulfonate, organische Phosphite etc. ein. Viskositätsverbesserer schließen Polyolefine, wie Polybuten, Polymethacrylate, etc. ein. Pourpoint- und Flocpointerniedriger schließen Polymethacrylate, Ethylen-Vinylacetat-Copolymere, Maleinsäure-Olefin-Copolymere, Ethylen- α-Olefin-Copolymere etc. ein. Detergents beinhalten Sulfonate, langkettige alkylsubstituierte aromatische Sulfonsäuren, Phosphonate, Phenylate, Metallsalze von Alkylphenolen, Alkylphenol-Aldehyd-Kondensationsprodukte, Metallsalze von substituierten Salicylaten etc. ein. Siliconpolymere sind ein sehr bekannter Typ eines Schaumdämpfers. Viskositätseinsteller sind beispielhaft durch Polyisobutylen, Polymethacrylate, Polyalkylstyrole, naphthenische Öle, Alkylbenzolöle, Polyester, Polyvinylchlorid, Polyphosphate etc. gezeigt.
- Die flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung sind insbesondere als Kühlmittel in verschiedenen Kältebzw. Kühlsystemen, die kompressionsartige Systeme sind, wie Kältemaschinen bzw. Kühlschränke, Gefriervorrichtungen und Klimanalagen, einschließlich Klimaanlagen für Automobile, den häuslichen und industriellen Bereich. Die folgenden Beispiele sind für die flüssigen Zusammensetzungen der vorliegenden Erfindung veranschaulichend. Gewichtsteile Beispiel 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluorethan (R134a) Produkt von Beispiel 1,1,2,2,-Tetrafluorethan R134a Polyoxypropylenglycol* *(NIAX-425, erhältlich von Union Carbide)
- Während die Erfindung unter Bezugnahme auf ihre bevorzugten Ausführungsformen beschrieben worden ist, können jedoch verschiedene Abwandlungen davon für den Fachmann beim Lesen der Beschreibung offensichtlich werden. Es ist daher verständlich, daß die hier beschriebene Erfindung beabsichtigt, diejenigen Abwandlungen abzudecken, die unter den Umfang der Patentansprüche fallen.
Claims (20)
1. Eine Zusammensetzung, umfassend
(A) 50-95 Gew.-% eines Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoffs mit 1 oder 2
Kohlenstoffatomen und
(B) 5-50 Gew.- % einer phosphorhaltigen Zusammensetzung umfassend
mindestens eine Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel (1) oder (2)
in der die Reste R&sub1; und R&sub2; jeweils unabhängig Hydrocarbyl- oder
Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenreste bedeuten und R&sub1; und R&sub2; zusammen insgesamt 2 bis
24 Kohlenstoffatome ausschließlich Oxyalkylen-Kohlenstoffatomen enthalten, a
den Wert 0 oder 1 hat, b den Wert 1 oder 2 hat, c den Wert 1, 2 oder 3 hat, d
den Wert 0, 1 oder 2 hat, mit der Maßgabe, daß die Summe von c + d den
Wert 3 hat; wenn b den Wert 1 hat, der Rest Z ausgewählt ist aus -R&sub5;,

-S(O)&sub2;N(R&sub3;)(R&sub4;) und
wenn b den Wert 2 hat, der Rest Z die Gruppe -N(NR&sub5;)- ist, X ein
Sauerstoff- oder Schwefelatom ist, Y ein Hydrocarbylenrest mit 1 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen
ist, R&sub5; ein Hydrocarbylrest mit 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen oder ein
Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenrest mit 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen im Hydrocarbylrest
der Gruppe ist, die Reste R&sub3; und R&sub4; jeweils unabhängig Wasserstoffatome oder
Hydrocarbylreste mit 1 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen sind, oder R&sub3; und R&sub4;
zusammen einen heterzyklischen Ring bilden.
2. Die Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1, wobei der Fluor enthaltende
Kohlenwasserstoff (A) 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluorethan ist.
3. Die Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, wobei die phosphorhaltige
Zusammensetzung eine Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel (1) umfaßt und die
Reste R&sub1; und R&sub2; jeweils unabhängig Alkylreste oder Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenreste
bedeuten und die Reste R&sub1; und R&sub2; zusammen insgesamt 2 bis 18
Kohlenstoffatome enthalten, ausschließlich irgendwelcher Oxyalkylen-
Kohlenstoffatome.
4. Die Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, wobei X ein
Sauerstoffatom ist.
5. Die Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, wobei Y ein
Alkylenrest mit 1 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatomen ist.
6. Die Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 5, wobei b den Wert 1 hat und Z
ausgewählt ist aus -R&sub5;, -S(O)&sub2;N(R&sub3;)(R&sub4;), -S(O)&sub2;R&sub5; und
7. Die Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, wobei R&sub5;
ausgewählt ist aus einem Alkylrest mit 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen und einem
Hydrocarbyloxyalkylenrest mit 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatomen im Hydrocarbylteil
der Gruppe.
8. Die Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 7, wobei R&sub5; ein
Alkylrest mit 8 bis 14 Kohlenstoffatomen ist.
9. Die Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, wobei die phosphorhaltige
Zusammensetzung eine Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel (1) oder (2) umfaßt,
wobei in der Formel (1) a den Wert 1 hat, Y ein Alkylenrest mit 1 bis 12
Kohlenstoffatomen ist, b den Wert 1 hat und Z die Gruppe -N(R&sub5;)&sub2; oder -NHR&sub5;
ist, und in der allgemeinen Formel (2) a den Wert 0 oder 1 hat, c den Wert 1, 2
oder 3 hat und d den Wert 0, 1 oder 2 hat, mit der Maßgabe, daß die Summe
von c + d den Wert 3 hat.
10. Die Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, wobei die phosphorhaltige
Zusammensetzung eine Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel (2) umfaßt, und die
Reste R&sub3; und R&sub4; jeweils unabhängig Alkylreste mit 1 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatomen
sind oder zusammen einen heterozyklischen Rest ausgewählt aus Morpholin,
lmidazol und Oxazolin bilden.
11. Die Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 10, weiter
umfassend
(C) mindestens ein Polyoxyalkylenglykol oder mindestens einen
Carbonsäureester.
12. Eine Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 1, umfassend 70-95 Gew.-% des
Fluor enthaltenden Kohlenwasserstoffs (A) und 5-30 Gew.- % der
phosphorhaltigen Zusammensetzung (B).
13. Die Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 12, wobei die phosphorhaltige
Zusammensetzung eine Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel (1) umfaßt und die
Reste R&sub1; und R&sub2; jeweils unabhängig unverzweigte Alkylreste mit 1 bis 4
Kohlenstoffatomen oder verzweigte Alkylreste mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen
sind.
14. Die Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 13, wobei a den Wert 0 und b den
Wert 1 hat und der Rest Z die Gruppe -R&sub5; oder
ist.
15. Die Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 13 oder 14, wobei die Reste R&sub3; und
R&sub4; jeweils unabhängig Alkylreste mit 1 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatomen sind.
16. Die Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 13 bis 15, wobei R&sub5; ein
Alkylrest mit 8 bis 14 Kohlenstoffatomen ist.
17. Die Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 12 bis 16, wobei Y ein
Alkylenrest mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen ist.
18. Die Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 12 bis 17, wobei der
Fluor enthaltende Kohlenwasserstoff (A) 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluorethan ist.
19. Die Zusammensetzung nach einem der Ansprüche 12 bis 18, umfassend
weiterhin (C) mindestens ein Polvoxyalkylenglykol oder mindestens einen
Carbonsäureester.
20. Verfahren zum Schmieren von Metallteilen, umfassend das
Zusammenbringen der Metallteile mit der Zusammensetzung nach einem der
Ansprüche 1 bis 19.
