Description
- Explosionssichere Schmiermittel Es ist verboten, mit verdichtetem Sauerstoff in Berührung stehende Apparateteile, wie Ventile, Absperrhähne, Kompressoren, Schweißbrenner, Lagerteile usw., wegen der damit verbundenen Explosionsgefahr mit Olen, Fetten oder ähnlichen organischen Substanzen zu schmieren.
- Andererseits ist ohne Schmierung durch die Reibung von Metall auf Metall ein großer Verschleiß zu beobachten; die Apparate sind bald nicht mehr gasdicht verschließbar,; und es müssen ganze Apparateteile oft schon nach relativ kurzer Benutzungszeit ersetzt werden.
- Es sind bereits für denselben Zweck Schmiermittel empfohlen worden, u. a. hochkonzentrierte, wäßrige Lösungen von nicht oxydierbaren, anorganischen Salzen. Dieselben haben aber den Nachteil, daß sie das Wasser abgeben, worauf durch das ausgeschiedene Salz die Schmierwirkung hinfällig wird. Außerdem wirken solche Schmiermittel auch korrodierend. Ein anderes angepriesenes Mittel ist wiederum sehr leicht oxydierbar.
- Diese Nachteile werden vermieden, wenn zum Schmieren der genannten Apparateteile höher polymerisierte mehrwertige aliphatische Alkohole (namentlich Glycerin) oder Derivate von diesen verwendet werden. Die Polymerisation geschieht in bekannter Weise mit Hilfe von Katalysatoren' (z. B. Quecksilberchlorid, Quecksilbersulfat, Kupferchlorür, Eisenchlorid usw. oder Gemischen derselben) oder Ätzalkalien bei nur 24o bis 25o°, wobei in hoher Ausbeute di- und triglycerinfreie hochkondensierte Verbindungen mit hohem Flammpunkt entstehen, welche sich als explosionssichere Schmiermittel verwenden und zur Erreichung jeder erforderlichen gleichbleibenden Viskosität mit hygroskopischen Stoffen (z. B. Magnesiumchloridlösung) vermischen lassen.
- Dadurch, daß man durch das Reaktionsprodukt einen schnellen indifferenten Gasstrom leitet, kann man im Gegensatz zu früheren Erfahrungen einen viel höheren Alkalizusatz verwenden und vermeidet dann auch die sonst übliche Spaltung in Ameisensäure und Oxalsäure.
- Wie Versuche an einer geeigneten Prüfapparatur gezeigt haben, halten diese Schmiermittel, auf über 2oo° C erhitzt, dem plötzlichen Auftreffen von 6o° warmem, unter einem Druck von r5o at stehendem Sauerstoff stand, während Öle und Fette des Tier-, Pflanzen- und Mineralreichs, ferner Graphit, Glycerin usw. unter den gleichen Versuchsbedingungen schon bei sehr viel niedrigeren Drucken und Temperaturen explodieren.
- Die neuen Schmiermittel lassen sich durch geeignete Zusätze, z. B. Tragant, Talkum usw., auf salbenartige Konsistenz bringen und können dann als Pasten verwendet werden. Metalle werden durch die Schmiermittel nicht korrodiert.
- Außer Glycerin können noch verwendet ,v erden halogensubstituierte Glycerine. Geeignete Mischungen bestehen z. B. aus r. 8o Teilen explosionssicherem Schmiermittel und 2o Teilen Wasser oder z. 7o Teilen explosionssicherem Schmiermittel, a5 Teilen Wasser und 5 Teilen Magnesiumchlorid oder 3. 65 Teilen explosionssicherem Schmiermittel, 2o Teilen Wasser und 15 Teilen Talkum.

- PATENTANSPRUCH: Verwendung der höheren Polymerisationsprodukte mehrwertiger aliphatischer Alkohole oder ihrer Derivate als explosionssichere Schmiermittel, insbesondere für mit komprimiertem Sauerstoff in Verbindung stehende Apparaturen, gegebenenfalls in Mischung mit hygroskopischen Stoffen, wie z. B. Magnesiumchloridlösung, oder/und mit anderen schmierfähigen Stoffen, wie z. B. Tragant und Talkum.
