Es ist Aufgabe der Erfindung, neue N-Cyanamidzusammensetzungen und deren Additionsprodukte zu schaffen.
Eine weitere Aufgabe der Erfindung ist es, ein wärmegehärtetes Material zu schaffen, indem man N-Cyanamidzusammensetzungen
und/oder deren Additionsprodukte als Härtungsmittel für Epoxyharze verwendet.
N-Cyanamidzusammensetzungen und deren Additionsprodukte ^0 können durch Umsetzen von Cyanamid mit den korrespondierenden
Säurehalogeniden gemäß folgender Gleichung hergestellt werden:

Im allgemeinen wird die N-Cyanamidverbindung hergestellt,
indem das korrespondierende polyfunktionelle Säurehalogenid, gelöst in einem wasserlöslichen Lösungsmittel
wie 1,4-Dioxan, N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidon oder
Ν,Ν-Dimethylformamid, einer wässrigen alkalischen Lösung von Cyanamid bei einer Temperatur zwischen
10 und 15 C zugesetzt wird, wobei die Alkalinität · 5
durch Zugabe von Natriumhydroxid, Kaliumhydroxid oder anderen bekannten Basen erreicht wird. Nach der Umsetzung
wird die Lösung mit einer konzentrierten Säure wie Salzsäure angesäuert, um das gebildete Produkt auszufäl-„
len. Das Produkt fällt üblicherweise als kristalliner. Feststoff aus.
Zusammenfassend können die Umsetzungen des Herstellungsverfahrens

Additionsprodukte mit einer N-Cyanamidendgruppe sind ebenfalls zum Härten von Epoxyharzen und zur Regulierung
der Eigenschaften des wärmegehärteten Endproduktes geeignet. Im allgemeinen wird ein polymeres Addukt
hergestellt, indem zunächst ein einfaches aliphatisches oder aromatisches Dxcarbonsäurehalogenxd mit einer
Verbindung, die polyfunktionelle Gruppen mit aktivem
Wasserstoff enthält, in einem wasserlöslichen organischen Lösungsmittel wie N-Methylpyrrolidon, N,N-Dimethylformamid
oder Ν,Ν-Dimethylacetamid bei Raumtemperatur gemäß folgender Gleichung umgesetzt wird:

Die Säurehalogenide, die zur Darstellung von N-Cyanamidzusamttiensetzungen
und deren Additionsprodukten verwendet werden, besitzen 2 oder 3 funktionelle Gruppen. Beispiele
für erfindunggemäß verwendbare polyfunktionelle Säurehalogenidverbindungen
sind Terephthaloylchlorid, Isophthaloylchlorid, Phthaloylchorid, Biphenyl-4,4'-dicarbonylchlorid,
1,3,5-Benzol-tricarbonylchlorid,
thionylchlorid, Succinylchlorid, Glutarylchlorid, . Adipylchlorid und Pimelylchlorid.
Beispiele für Verbindungen des Typs£R'-(YH) /mit
aktiven Wasserstoff enthaltenden Gruppen zur erfindungsgemäßen Adduktherstellung sind Amine, Alkohole und
Thiole. Amine können beispielsweise aliphatische Trioder Diamine wie Polyoxyethylendiamine, Polyoxyethylen-5
triamine, Polyoxypropylendiamine und Polyoxypropylentriamine
oder aromatische Amine wie Bis(4-aminophenyl)-ether
und Bis(p-aminophenyl)sulfon sein. Beispiele für in Betracht kommende Alkohole sind Polyethylengykol,
Glycerin, Trimethylolpropan, Polypropylengykol und Polycaprolactondiol.
Beispiele für erfindungsgemäß verwendbare Polythiole
zur Herstellung der Addukte sind 2,2'-Dimercaptodiethylether,

Das erfindungsgemäß zur Herstellung eines wärmegehärteten
Materials verwendete Epoxyharz umfaßt Materialien, die mehr als eine Epoxygruppe, d.h. mehr als
eine Gruppe der Formel:

Diese Verbindungen können gesättigt oder ungesättigt, aliphatisch, cycloaliphatisch, aromatisch oder heterocyclisch
sein und können mit Substituenten wie Chloroder Hydroxylgruppen, Etherresten und dergleichen substi-"1

tuiert sein. Sie können monomer oder polymer sein.
Zum besseren Verständnis werden viele der Polyepoxide und insbesondere diejenigen des polymeren Typs anhand
der Epoxyäquivalentwerte beschrieben, d.h. auf viele 20
der Polyepoxide wird nachfolgend anhand ihrer Epoxyäquivalentwerte
Bezug genommen. Der Ausdruck "Epoxyäquivalent" bezeichnet die Anzahl der Epoxygruppen, die
in einem durchschnittlichen Molekül des gewünschten Materials enthalten sind. Der Epoxyäquivalentwert ■
wird durch Teilen des mittleren Molekulargewichts des Polyepoxids durch das Epoxidaquivalentgewicht
ermittelt. Das Epoxidaquivalentgewicht wird bestimmt, indem 1 g des Polyepoxids mit einem Überschuß von
Pyridinchlorid gelöst in Pyridin 20 Minuten lang am Siedepunkt erhitzt wird. Der Überschuß Pyridinchlorid
wird dann mit 0,1 N Natriumhydroxid gegen Phenolphthalein bis zum Endpunkt zurücktitriert. Der Epoxidwert wird
berechnet, indem man annimmt, daß ein Mol HCl einem
Äquivalent des Epoxids entspricht. Nach diesem Verfahren 35
wurden samtliche erfindungsgemäß angegebenen Epoxidwerte
erhalten.
Wenn die Polyepoxide einzelne monomere Verbindungen sind, bei denen alle Epoxygruppen intakt sind, so
sind ihre Epoxyäquivalentwerte ganze Zahlen wie 1,2, 3,4 und 5. Bei Polyepoxiden des polymeren Typs können
jedoch viele der Materialien einige monomere Monoepoxide enthalten oder einige ihrer Epoxygruppen können hydratisiert
oder anderweitig umgesetzt sein und/oder sie können Macromoleküle von etwas unterschiedlichem Moleku-·
largewicht enthalten, so daß die Epoxyäquivalentwerte werte ziemlich niedrig sind und ungerade Werte annehmen.
Das polymere Material kann beispielsweise Epoxyäquivalentwerte von 1,5, 1,8, 2,5 und dergleichen besitzen.
Die erfindungsgemäß in der Zusammensetzung und den dem Verfahren verwendeten Polyepoxide besitzen einen
Epoxyäquivalentwert von mindestens 1,0.
. Verschiedene Beispiele für Polyepoxide, die erfindungsgemäß
in der Zusammensetzung und dem Verfahren verwendet werden können, sind in der US-PS 2 633 548 angegeben,
auf die bezüglich der Polyepoxide vorliegend ausdrücklich Bezug genommen wird.
Weitere Beispiele sind die epoxidierten Ester der polyethylenisch ungesättigten Monocarbonsäuren wie
epoxidiertes Leinsamen-, Sojabohnen-, Perilla-, Oiticia-, Tung-, Walnuß-, und wasserfreies Rizinusöl, Methyllinoleat,
Butyllinoleat, Ethyl-9,12-octadecadienoat,. Butyl-9,12,15-octadecatrienoat,
Butyleleostearat, Monoglyceride von Fettsäuren des Tungöls, Monoglyceride des Sojabohnenöls,
Sonnenblumen-, Rapssamen-, Hanfsamen-, Sardinen-, Baumwollsamenöl und dergleichen.
Eine weitere Gruppe epoxidhaltiger Materialien, die erfindungsgemäß
in der Zusammensetzung und dem Verfahren verwendet
werden, schließt die epoxidierten Ester der ungesättigten einwertigen Alkohole und Polycarbonsäuren ein,
,. beispielsweise Di(2,3-epoxybutyl)adipat, Di ( 2, 3-epoxybutyl)oxalat,
Di(2,3-epoxyhexyl)succinat, Di(3,4-epoxybutyl)maleat,
Di(2,3-epoxyoctyl)pimelat, Di(2,3-epoxybutyl
)phthalat, Di(2,3-epoxyoctyl)tetrahydrophthalat, Di(4,5-epoxy-dodecyl)maleat,
Di(2,3-epoxybutyl)tetraphthalat,
Di(2,3-epoxypentyl)thiodipropionat, Di(5,6-epoxy-tetradecyl)diphenyldicarboxylat,
Di(3,4-epoxyheptyl)sulfonyldibutyrat,

Eine weitere Gruppe schließt die epoxidierten polyethylenisch ungesättigten Kohlenwasserstoffe wie epoxydiertes
2,2-Bis(2-cyclohexenyl)propan, epoxidiertes Vinylcyclohexen
und dimeres epoxidiertes Cyclopentadien ein.
Eine weitere Gruppe schließt die epoxidierten Polymeren und Copolymeren der Diolefine, wie Butadien ein. Beispiele
hierfür sind unter anderem Butadien-Acrylnitrilcopolymere (Hycar rubbers), Butadien-Styrolcopolymere und dergleichen.
Eine weitere Gruppe umfaßt die Glycid enthaltenden Stickstoffverbindungen,
wie Diglycidylanilin und Di- sowie Triglycidylamin.
Erfindungsgemäß besonders bevorzugte Polyepoxide sind
die Gylcidylether und insbesondere die Gylcidylether der mehrwertigen Phenole und mehrwertigen Alkohole. Die
Gylcidylether mehrwertiger Phenole werden durch die Reak-ο ο
tion von Epichlorhydrin mit dem gewünschten Polyhydroxy-
phenol in Gegenwart von Alkali erhalten. Polyether-A und
Polyether-B, beschrieben in der oben zitierten US-Patentschrift 2 633 458, sind gute Beispiele für Polyepoxide
dieses Typs. Weitere Beispiele sind die Polygylcidylether von 1,1,2,2-Tetrakis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-ethan (Epoxywert
0,45 Äquivalente/100 g, Schmelzpunkt 85°C), sowie Polygylcidylether
von 1,1,5,5-Tetrakis(hydroxyphenyl)pentan
(Epoxywert 0,514 Äquivalente/100 g) und dergleichen sowie • Mischungen derselben.

Das Äquivalentverhältnis von Epoxid zu N-Cyanamid kann in weiten Grenzen variieren. Erfindungsgemäß verwendbar ist
ein Äquivalentverhältnis von Epoxid zu N-Cyanamid von 1 bis 30:2, vorzugsweise 10:1, wobei bei Erhitzen ein wärmegehärtetes
Material resultiert. Ferner muß·, um ein wärmegehärtetes Material zu erhalten, mehr als eine N-Cyanamidgruppe
vorhanden sein.

Die Härtung wird bei Temperaturen von 100 bis 2 00^C durchgeführt.

Die Erfindung wird nachfolgend anhand von Beispielen
■
erläutert. Falls nicht anders angegeben, beziehen sich
alle Angaben auf das Gewicht.
Klebkrafteigenschaften beim Scheren unter Zugbelastung
(Metall auf Metall) wurden nach US-Norm ASTMD 1002-64 bestimmt unter Zugrundelegung eines überlappenden Bereichs
von 6,452 cm .
■ Zu einer Lösung von 16,8 g Cyanamid in 50 ml Wasser wurden
50 ml einer wässrigen 3N Natriumhydroxidlösung gegeben. Dieser Lösung, die auf 15°C gekühlt wurde, wurde tropfenweise
eine Lösung von 20,3 g Isophthaloylchlorid in 100 ml Dioxan über einen Zeitraum von einer Stunde unter Rühren
zugesetzt. Weitere 50 ml wässriger 3N Natriumhydroxyidlösung wurden mit solcher Geschwindigkeit zugesetzt, daß die
■ Zugabe zur gleichen Zeit wie die Zugabe des Isophthaloylchlorids
beendet war. Nach der Zugabe wurde die Reaktionsmischung eine Stunde lang gerührt und anschließend wurden
100 g zerstoßenes Eis zugesetzt. Die Mischung wurde unter Rühren durch langsames Hinzufügen von konzentrierter '
Salzsäure angesäuert. Das N,N1-Dicyanisophthalamidprodukt
wurde in kristalliner Form gesammelt, mit Wasser gewaschen
und unter Vakuum getrocknet.

10 g Epon-828 (Diglycid von Bisphenol-A der Fa. Shell
Chemical) wurden mit 4 g N,N'-Dicyanisophthalamid gemäß
Beispiel 1 gemischt, um eine stabile, viskose Disper-
sion zu erhalten. Nach einstündigem Erhitzen bei 1400C
wurde ein hartes, durchsichtiges, gelbes Material erhalten.

Beispiel 1 wurde wiederholt mit dem Unterschied, daß 20,3 g Terephthaloylchlorids anstelle des Isophthaloylchlorids
gemäß Beispiel 1 verwendet wurden. Es wurde Ν,Ν1-Dicyanterephthaloylamid
in kristalliner Form erhalten.
Beispiel 1 wurde wiederholt mit dem Unterschied, daß Phthaloylchlorid (20,3 g) anstelle des Isophthaloylchlorids
.,_ gemäß Beispiel 1 verwendet wurde. Das resultierende Produkt,
d.h. Ν,Ν'-Dicyanphthalamid wurde in guter Ausbeute
als kristallines Produkt erhalten.

Herstellung eines N-Cyanamidadditionsproduktes
Polyoxypropylendiamin (40g) mit einem Molekulargewicht
von 400 g/Mol, im Handel erhältlich von der Fa. Texaco·,
wurde tropfenweise zu einer Lösung von 40,1 g Terephthaloyl-Chlorid
in 200 ml Ν,Ν-Dimethylformamid gegeben. Die Umsetzung
wurde nach Zugabe des Polyoxypropylendiamins 2 Stunden lang-fortgesetzt. Diese Reaktionslösung, bezeichnet als
Lösung A, wurde dann langsam zu einer wässrigen alkalischen Lösung enthaltend 16,8 g Cyanamid, 67 ml Wasser
und 67 ml 3N Natriumhydroxidlösung gegeben, während gleichzeitig Lösung B, d.h. 67 ml 3N wässrige Natriumhydroxidlösung
mit einer solchen Geschwindigkeit zugegeben wurden, daß die Zugabe zur gleichen Zeit wie die Zugabe der Lösung
A beendet war. Die Umsetzung wurde bei Temperaturen von 10 bis 15 C durchgeführt. Die Reaktionsmischung wurde
mit konzentrierter Salzsäure angesäuert und zerstoßenes
Eis zugegeben, um die Temperatur unter 15 C zu halten. Nach zweistündigem Stehen im Kühlschrank wurde der Niederschlag
gesammelt und in Aceton gegeben. Der Niederschlag, der sich in Aceton löste, wurde gesammelt. Nach Entfernen
des Acetoris und Trocknen unter Vakuum wurde eine viskose
Flüssigkeit erhalten. Diese viskose Flüssigkeit zeigte die gewünschte Absorption bei 2250 cm~^ und 21;6'0' βψ
c βψ
für C=N-Gruppen, 1645 cm ■■ für Amidgruppen und 1100 cm
für Polyetherbindungen.

Das viskose flüssige Additionsprodukt (3,4 g) gemäß Being

spiel 5 wurde mit 3,8 g Epon-828 vermischt. Nach einstündiger Härtung bei 1700C hatte sich die Flüssigkeit in
ein starres, festes Material umgewandelt.

Die Mischung gemäß Beispiel 2 wurde mit einer Schichtdicke
von 0,0762 mm zwischen zwei kaltgewalzten Stahlblechen . in einem Überlappungsbereich von 12,7 mm aufgebracht.
Die Bleche wurden verklammert und eine Stunde lang bei

150 C erhitzt. Nach Entfernen der Klammern betrug die
Scherkraft im Überlappungsbereich 0,0888 bar (1,263 psi). '.

Die Mischung gemäß Beispiel 2 wurde mit einer Schichtdicke von 0,0254 mm mit einem Rakel auf ein Aluminiumsubstrat
aufgetragen. Das so beschichtete Substrat wurde

in einem Ofen bei 140 C eine Stunde lang erhitzt. Es wurde eine transparente, feste Beschichtung erhalten.
Die N-Cyanamidzusammensetzungen und deren Additionsprodukte können in Verbindung mit Epoxyharzen zur Herstellung
von Beschichtungen, Dichtstoffen, Klebstoffen, Vergußmassen für elektronische Bauteile und Zusammensetzungen mit
Graphit oder Glasfibern verwendet werden.

1./ N-Cyanamidzusammensetzungen und deren Additionsprodukte der Formel
R-(C-NHCN)n.

7. Verfahren zum Härten eines Epoxyharzes mit mehr .■ als einer Epoxygruppe zu einem wärmegehärteten

η gleich 2 oder 3 ist, und anschließend die Mischung bei einer Temperatur von 100 bis 2000C erwärmt.
