Die Küchendunsthaube besitzt ein Gestell in Form einer Platte, die sich von einem Boden des genannten Schrankraumes herab bis zu einer Schutzrückwand der Kochmulde des Küchenherdes erstreckt, auf dem Gasbrenner oder Kochplatten angeordnet sind. Die Frontplatte der Dunsthaube dient dazu, die umgebenden Wände davor zu schützen, daß sie mit öligen Niederschlägen oder Ablagerungen verschmiert werden. Wenn Wärmeisolierplatten wie z.B. Schieferplatten an der Dunsthaubenplatte befestigt werden, dient die Küchendunsthaube gleichzeitig als Feuer- oder Flammschutzplatte.
