Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von stabilisierten Polyamiden unter Verwendung einer Kombination M
von Kupferverbindungen und tertiären Phosphindihalogeniden alβ Stabilisatoren.
Formkörper aus Polyamiden, die durch Polymerisation sowohl von Piaminen und !Dicarbonsäuren als auch von Aminocarbonsäuren
oder deren Lactamen erhalten worden sind, beispielsweise fäden, Borsten, Folien usw., werden durch Einwirkung von Luft
und Sauerstoff, besonders bei höheren Temperaturen, geschädigt, und zwar in der Weise, daß die relative Viskosität M
abfällt und die Festigkeits- und Dehnungseigenschaften schlechter werden. Gleichzeitig färbt sich das Polyamid in zunehmendem
Maße braun.
Es ist bekannt, Polyamide gegen die schädigenden Einflüsse von Luft und Sauerstoff bei höheren Temperaturen durch Zusätze von
Stabilisatoren zu schützen. Als Stabilisatoren wurden beispielsweise schon folgende Verbindungen vorgeschlagen: Mangansalze

anorganischer und organischer Säuren, Kupfersalze anorganischer und organischer Säuren, Derivate der Sauerstoffsauren
des Phosphors, aromatische Amine und Phenole. Bevorzugt wurden auch Kombinationen dieser Verbindungsgruppen miteinander
oder mit Verbindungen, die allein keine Stabilisator-Wirkung haben, wie (Erd-)Alkalihalogenide, Jod, Arylsulfonsäuren,
Mercaptobenzimidazol usw. verwendet.
Die bisher verwandten Stabilisatoren haben den Nachteil, daß entweder ihre Stabilisatorwirkung nicht ausreichend ist,
beispielsweise bei den Mn- und Sn-Salzen, Phosphorverbindungen,
Distannanen und Phenolen, oder daß sie lichtempfindlich
sind und dadurch im laufe der Zeit zu Verfärbungen des Polyamids führen, beispielsweise die aromatischen Amine und Phenole.
Auch der Zusatz einer Kombination von Kupfersalzen und Halogenverbindungen
wie Jod, (Erd-)Alkalihalogeniden, Halogeniden schwerflüchtiger organischer Basen, Phosphortrihalogeniden,
Phosphoroxyhalogeniden, Zinntetrajodid, die an sich eine ausgezeichnete
Stabilisatorwirkung hat, führt im allgemeinen zu einer Verfärbung des Polyamids.
Außerdem sind die bisher verwendeten Halogenverbindungen zum größten Teil d\irch Wasser extrahierbar, so daß der Zusatz zu
Polyamiden* die durch Extraktion mit heißem Wasser von monomeren
Anteilen befreit werden müssen, beispielsweise Polycaprolactam
oder Mischpolyamide des Gaprolaetaajs, vor dieser

Extraktion nicht möglich ist. Die Zugabe nach der Extraktion erfordert aber einen zusätzlichen Arbeitsgang, da das Polyamid
zur homogenen Vermischung mit den Stabilisatoren wieder aufgeschmolzen werden muß. Die Extrahierbarkeit der Halogenverbindungen
ist auch in solchen Fällen von Nachteil, wo das stabilisierte Polyamid auf Anwendungsgebieten eingesetzt werden
soll, die es in Berührung mit Wasser oder wäßrigen Lösungen bringen. Bei der Verwendung von Phosphortrihalogeniden und
Phosphoroxyhalogeniden kann weiterhin infolge teilweiser Vernetzung oder Verzweigung eine unkontrollierbare Erhöhung der %
Schmelzviskosität des Polyamids eintreten, die zu Verarbeitungsstörungen,
besonders bei der Faserherstellung, führt.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß man Polyamide unter Vermeidung der genannten Nachteile in hervorragender Weise gegen oxydativen
Abbau bei höheren Temperaturen stabilisieren kann, wenn man als Stabilisator eine Kombination aus einer Kupferverbindung
und einem tertiären Phosphindihalogenid der allgemeinen Formel . A

verwendet, wobei R1, R2 und R, gleiche oder verschiedene,
gegebenenfalls substituierte Alkyl-, Cycloalkyl-, Aryl- oder

Aralkylreste oder IL und R2 einen Alkylenrest und R, einen
gegebenenfalls substituierten Alkyl-, Cycloalkyl-, Aryl- oder Aralkylrest und X Cl, Br oder J bedeu'ten.
Beispiele solcher tertiärer Phosphindihalogenide sind:
Tributylphosphin-dichlorid, -dibromid, -dijodid;
Tricyclohexylphosphin-diehlorid, -dibromid, -dijodid;
Triphenylphosphin-dichlorid, -dibromid, -dijodid;
Cyclohexyldiphenylphosphin-dichlorid, -dibromid, -dijodid;
Phenyldibutylphosphin-dichlorid, -dibromid, -dijodid;
Diphenylbenzylphosphin-dichlorid, -dibromid, -dijodid; Tri-(<^-chloräthyl)-phosphin-dichlorid, -dibromid, -di^odid;
Tri-(4-bromphenyl)-phosphin-dichlorid, -dibromid, -dijodid;
Di-(chlormethyl)-phenyl-phoephin-dichlorid, -dibromid, -dijodid;
Diphenyl-(4-hydroxy-3,5-di-tert.-butylphenyl)-phosphin-di-
chlorid, -dibromid, dijodid;
1-Butyl-phoepholin-(3)-dichlorid, -dibromid, -dijodid;
1-Phenyl-phospholin-(3)-dichlorid, -dibromid, -dijodid.
Sie können auf einfache Weise nach bekannten Verfahren durch Anlagerung von Chlor, Brom oder Jod an tertiäre Phosphine

erhalten werden und stellen im allgemeinen feste, kristallisierte Verbindungen dar. Von den tertiären Phoephindihalogeniden

werden die Phosphindiiodide bevorzugt verwendet, da sie sich
durch besonders gute Wirksamkeit und Stabilität ausseichnen.
Die tertiären Phosphindihalogenide werden swöctosäBig in Mengen
von 0,001 bis 5,0, vorzugsweise 0,01 biß 1}0 ö-ew.-§6, bezogen
auf das Polyamid, zugesetzt.
Als Kupferverbindungen können die Salze anorganischer Säuren, beispielsweise Cu(II)Cl2, Cu(I)Cl, Cu(II)Br.,, Cu(I)Br, Cu(I)J,
Cu(I)CN, Cu(II)SO., usw., die Salze organischer Carbonsäuren,
beispielsweise Cu-acetat, Ou-stearat, Cu-bensoat usw., die
Salze ein- oder mehrwertiger Phenole, außerdem die Komplexverbindungen
solcher Kupfersaize mit Ammoniak, Aminen, Amiden,
Lactamen, Phosphites Phosphinen, Cyaniden usw, verwendet
werden.
Die Zupferverbindungen werden zweckmäßig in einer solchen
Menge zugesetzt, daß das Polyamid 0,0001 bis 0,2, vorzugsweise 0,001 bis 0,02 Gew.-^ Kupfer enthält.
Die Stabilisatoren können dem polyamidbildsndsn Auagangsgemisch
vor der Polymerisation bzw. Polykondensation zugesetzt
werden und die Polymerisation kann anschließend in "bekannter
Weiee kontinuierlich oder diskontinuierlich d-arahgeführt werden.
Es ist jedoch auch möglich, die Stabilisatoren zusagen oder
getrennt, gegebenenfalls auch in Form eines Konzentrates in Polyamid, erst während oder nach der Polymerisation bsw.

Polykondensation mit der Polyamidschmelze zu vermischen, wobei bekannte Misölvorrichtungen wie Extruder» Kneter» Rührer

bzw. Polykondensation von Lactamen, Aminocarbonsäuren oder von Diaminen und Dicarbonsäuren entstehen.
Neben den Stabilisatoren können die Polyamide noch übliche
Zuaätse wie Pigmente, Farbstoffe, Lichtstabilisatoren, optische
Äufhellungsmittel, Füllstoffe wie Glas- oder Asbestfasern,
Gleit- und Sntformungsmittelf Weichmacher oder Kristallisationsanrsger
enthalten«
Die erfindungsgemäß stabilisierten Polyamide, die insbesondere
gegen die oxydative Schädigung bei höheren l'emperaturen stabilisiert
sind, eignen sich hervorragend für die Herstellung von technischer Seide für Fischnetze, Teibriemen, Förderbänder
usw., Reifencord und Fomücörpern, die einer thermischen Belastung
bei freiem Zutritt von Luft oder Sauerstoff aufgesetzt
sind.

Beispiel 1
1 kg eines auf übliche Weise hergestellten farblosen PoIycaprolactams
mit einer relativen Viskosität von 3f12 (gemessen
an der 1 #-igen Lösung in m-Kresol) werden mittels einer
üblichen Schneckenpresse aufgeschmolzen und dabei mit verschiedenen
Stabilisatoren homogen vermischt. Das stabilisatorhaltige Polycaprolactam wird als Borste von ca. 3 mm Durchmesser
abgesponnen, zu Granulat zerhackt und getrocknet. Das Granulat wird dann in einem Trockenschrank bei 150 C und
freiem Luftzutritt aufbewahrt und nach 144, 500 und 1 000 Stunden die relative Viskosität gemessen.
Die Versuchsergebnisse sind in Tabelle I aufgeführt. Die Versuche
7 bis 9 stellen Vergleichsversuche dar.
Ein Gemisch aus 1,1 kg Caprolactam, 35 g £-Aminocapronsäure,
0,8 g Essigsäure als Kettenabbrecher und verschiedenen Stabilisatoren wird in einem Autoklaven in üblicher Weise bei einer
Temperatur von 270 0C polykondensiert. Die erhaltenen Produkte
werden als Borste von ca. 3 mm Durchmesser abgesponnen, zu Granulat zerhackt, durch mehrstündiges Auskochen mit Wasser
von monomeren Anteilen befreit und getrocknet. Die Farbe und der Jodgehalt der erhaltenen Polyamide sind in Tabelle II
aufgeführt. Außerdem wird das erhaltene Granulat wie im Beispiel 1

in einem Trockenschrank bei 150 0C und freiem Luftzutritt aufbewahrt
und nach 144» 500 und 1 000 Stunden die relative Viskosität gemessen. Die Ergebnisse sind ebenfalls in Tabelle II
aufgeführt.
Die Versuche 8 und 9 stellen Vergleichsversuche dar.

Claims (4)
1. Verfahren zur Wärmestabilisierung von Polyamiden durch Zusatz
von Kupfer-, Phosphor- und Halogenverbindungen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man als Stabilisator eine Kombination aus
a) einer Kupferverbindung und b) einem tertiären Phosphindihalogenid der Formel

verwendet, wobei R^, Rp und R,gleiche oder verschiedene, gegebenenfalls
substituierte Alkyl-, Cycloalkyl-, Aryl- oder Aralkylreste oder R1 und Rp einen Alkylenrest und R^ einen
gegebenenfalls substituierten Alkyl-, Cycloalkyl-, Aryl- oder Aralkylrest und X Cl, Br oder J bedeutet.
2. Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß tertiäre Phosphindijodide verwendet werden.
3. Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
die Stabilisatorkombination den polyamidbildenden Ausgangsstoffen vor der Polymerisation bzw. Polykondensation zugesetzt
wird.
4. Stabilisiertes Polyamid enthaltend 0,001 bis 0,2 Gew.-^
einer Kupferverbindung und 0,001 bis 5fö Gew.-?6 eines tertiären
Phosphlndihalogezu.de.
