Description
Aus der britischen Patentschrift 973 377 ist bereits
bekannt Polyesterimide in der Weise herzustellen, daß man die Umsetzungsprodukte aus 2 Mol eines
cyclischen Anhydrids einer mehrbasischen aromatischen Carbonsaure und 1 Mol eines Diamins bzw
deren Komponenten im angegebenen Molverhaltnis, mit mehrwertigen Alkoholen, ζ B Athylenglykol oder
Glyzerin, und mit mehrbasischen Carbonsauren bzw deren Alkylestern, ζ B Terephthalsauredimethylester,
umsetzt Die Hitzebeständigkeit und die Dauerbiegefestigkeit
dieser Polyesterimide sind jedoch fur bestimmte Einsatzzwecke, ζ B fur Drahtlacke, nicht
immer ausreichend
Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, Polyesterimide
herzustellen, die eine bessere Dauerbiegefestigkeit und Hitzebeständigkeit aufweisen Diese
Aufgabe wird durch das erfindungsgemaße Verfahren gelost
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung
von Polyestenmiden durch die Umsetzung von
a) 5 bis 50 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf das Endprodukt,
eines Umsetzungsproduktes aus 1,92 bis 2,08 Mol eines cyclischen Anhydrids einer
aromatischen Tn- oder Tetracarbonsaure mit ortho-standigen Carboxylgruppen und aus 1 Mol
eines Diamins, oder dessen Komponenten im angegebenen Molverhaltnis, mit
b) 4,4 -Benzophenondicarbonsaure und/oder Terephthalsäure
und/oder Isophthalsäure, oder deren Alkyldiestern, Alkylmonoestern oder Saurehalogeniden,
oder mit Gemischen, in denen bis zu 50 Aquivalentprozent dieser Dicarbonsäuren
durch eine andere Di- oder Polycarbonsaure oder deren Anhydrid ersetzt sind, und mit
c) einem oder mehreren mehrwertigen Alkoholen, wobei die Komponenten unter b) und c) in solchen
Mengenverhältnissen verwendet werden, daß auf 1 Äquivalent der Di- und Polycarbonsäuren 1 bis
1,6 Äquivalente der mehrwertigen Alkohole entfallen, welches dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß
man als mehrwertigen Alkohol Tns-(2-hydroxy-
HOOC
35 athyl)-isocyanurat oder dessen Gemische mit
mehrwertigen Alkoholen, die mindestens zu 20 Aquivalentprozent aus Tns-(2-hydroxyathyl)-isocyanurat
bestehen, verwendet
Nach einer bevorzugten Ausfuhrungsform des erfindungsgemaßen Verfahrens verwendet man solche
Gemische mehrwertiger Alkohole, die mindestens zu 50 Aquivalentprozent aus Tns-(2-hydroxyathyl)-isocjanurat
bestehen, da ein höherer Anteil des Tns-(2-hydroxyathyl)-isocyanurat
sich besonders vorteilhaft auf die Hitzebeständigkeit und die Hitzeschockeigenschaften
der nach dem erfindungsgemaßen Verfahren hergestellten Polyesterimide auswirkt
Nach einer weiteren bevorzugten Ausfuhrungsform des erfindungsgemaßen Verfahrens verwendet man
Gemische mehrwertiger Alkohole, die neben zweiwertigen Alkoholen nur Tns-(2-hydroxyathyl)-isocyanurat
als einzige Komponente mit drei Hydroxylgruppen enthalten
Cyclische Anhydride einer aromatischen Tn- oder Tetracarbonsaure mit ortho-standigen Carboxylgruppen,
die als Ausgangsstoffe verwendet werden sind Trimelhthsaureanhydrid,Pyromellithsauredianhydrid,
2,2',3,3' - Benzophenon - tetracarbonsauredianhydnd,
2,3,6,7 - Naphthalin - tetracarbonsauredianhydnd und
3,3',4,4 - Diphenyl - tetracarbonsauredianhydnd Geeignete
Diamine sind Methylendianilm, Benzidin,
3,3 - Diaminodiphenyl, 1,4 - Diaminonaphthahn,
p-Phenylendiamin, α,ίο-Nonamethylendiamin, 4 4 -Diaminodiphenylather,
4,4 - Dimethylheptamethylendiamin - 1 7 Diammodiphenylketon Bis - (4 - aminophenyl)
- a,n - ρ - xylol m - Phenyleridiamin Xylylendiamin,
Hexamethylendiamin, Athylendiamin, 4,4 -Dicyclohexylmethandiamin
und Diaminodiphenylsulfon Insbesondere geeignet sind aromatische Diamine,
wie Methylendianilm und Oxydianihn
Man kann wie bereits bekannt ist, aus 1,92 bis
2,08 Mol eines der genannten cyclischen Anhydride und 1 Mol eines der genannten Diamine ein Umsetzungsprodukt
bilden, das im Falle des Tnmellithsaureanhydnds
und des Oxydianihns bzw des Methylendianihns
die folgende Strukturformel

in welcher R ein Sauerstoffatom bzw eine Methylengruppe
ist hat und dieses fur die Herstellung der Polyesterimide
nach dem erfindungsgemaßen Verfahren benutzen, oder auch die beiden Komponenten dieses
Umsetzungsproduktes im angegebenen Molverhaltnis als solche einsetzen Die nach dem erfindungsgemaßen
Verfahren hergestellten Polyesterimide enthalten in bezug auf das Endprodukt 5 bis 50 Gewichtsprozent,
und insbesondere 30 bis 35 Gewichtsprozent, des obigen Umsetzungsproduktes bzw dessen Komponenten
im angegebenen Molverhaltnis
Bis zu 50 Aquivalentprozent der Terephthalsäure,
Isophthalsäure oder 4,4 -Benzophenondicarbonsaure können durch eine andere Di- oder Polycarbonsaure
oder deren Anhydrid, ζ B durch Adipinsäure ortho-Phthalsaureanhydnd,
Hemimelhthsaure, Tnmesinsaure,
Trimelhthsaure, Succinsaure, Tetrachlorphthalsaureanhydnd
Hexachlorendomethylen-tetrahydrophthalsaure, Maleinsäure oder Sebacinsäure,
ersetzt werden Wenn diese modifizierende Saure nur zwei Carboxylgruppen in lmidbildender Stellung besitzt,
dann wird die modifizierende Saure vorzugsweise nach der Reaktion des Tnmellithsaureanhydrids (oder
eines anderen der genannten cyclischen Anhydride) mit dem Methylendianilm (oder einem anderen der als
geeignet angegebenen Diamine) zugegeben
Auch Gemische aus Terephthalsäure, Isophthalsäure
und 4 4 -Benzophenondicarbonsaure können eingesetzt werden Die Terephthalsäure, Isophthalsäure
oder 4,4 -Benzophenondicarbonsaure werden
gewöhnlich in Form ihrer Dimethylester zur Reaktion gebracht, z. B. als Dimethylterephthalat, 4,4'-Dimethylbenzophenon-dicarboxylat
oder Dimethylisophthalat. obwohl auch die freien Säuren oder die Säurehalogenide, wie Terephthalsäurechlorid, oder
andere Alkylester, wie Äthyl- oder Butylester, oder Halbester, wie Monomethylterephthalat, verwendet
werden können.
Als mehrwertiger Alkohol werden erfindungsgemäß Tris-(2-hydroxyäthyl)-isocyanurat oder dessen Gemische
mit mehrwertigen Alkoholen, die mindestens zu 20 Äquivalentprozent aus Tris-(2-hydroxyäthyl)-isocyanurat
bestehen, verwendet. Solche mehrwertigen Alkohole, die im Gemisch mit dem Tris-(2-hydroxyäthyl)-isocyanurat
verwendet werden können, sind z. B. Äthylenglykol, Glyzerin, Pentaerythrit, 1,1,
1-Trimethyloläthan, 1,1,1-Trimethylolpropan, Sorbit,
Mannit, Dipentaerythrit, Butandiol-1,4, Trimethylenglykol,
Propylenglykol, Pentandiol-1,5, Neopentylenglykol, Buten-2-diol-l,4, Butin-2-diol-l,4, 2.2,4,
4-Tetramethyl-1,3-cyclobutandiol, H ydrochinon-di-
^-hydroxyäthyläther und 1,4-Cyclohexandimethanol.
Bei dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren zur Herstellung von Polyesterimiden werden bekannte Umsetzungsmethoden
angewandt. Normalerweise wird die zu Polyesterimiden führende Polykondensation der verwendeten Komponenten in Gegenwart der
gleichen Lösungsmittel durchgeführt, die üblicherweise Bestandteile von Drahtlacken sind. Solche
Lösungsmittel sind z. B. N-Methylpyrrolidon, Dimethylacetamid,
Dimethylformamid, Dimethylsulfoxyd, N-Methylcaprolactam, Xylol, Kresolsäure,
p-Kresol, ein Gemisch von m- und p-Kresol und Dimethylsulfon.
Weiterhin können Gemische von Lösungsmitteln eingesetzt werden, so z. B. Mischungen
von N-Methylpyrrolidon mit Dimethylacetamid und/ oder Dimethylformamid oder eine Mischung von
N-Methylpyrrolidon, Dimethylacetamid und Toluol im Verhältnis 6:3:4 oder eine Mischung von N-Methylpyrrolidon
und Xylol. Die Umsetzung kann in bekannter Weise, z. B. mit Bleioxyd, katalysiert werden.
Nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren hergestellte Polyesterimide sind insbesondere zur Verwendung
in Drahtlacken geeignet. Für diesen Verwendungszweck können sie in bekannter Weise durch
Zusatz von Polyisocyanaten, Alkyltitanaten, Metallsikkativen, Phenolharzen und/oder Melamin-Formaldehydharzen
weiter modifiziert werden. Bei der Verwendung als Drahtlacke liefern die nach dem
erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren hergestellten Polyesterimide Beschichtungen mit überlegenen Flexibilitätsund
Hitzebeständigkeitseigenschaften, wie dies dem Vergleichsversuch 1 zu entnehmen ist.
Die folgenden Beispiele dienen des weiteren zur Erläuterung der Erfindung.
Beispiel 1

Zu 192 g (1 Mol) Trimellitsäureanhydrid in 300 ml N-Methylpyrrolidon wurden 100 g (0,5 Mol) Oxydianilin,
gelöst in 300 ml N-Methylpyrrolidon, zugegeben. Unter exothermer Reaktion wurde eine
klare Lösung erhalten. Anschließend wurden 99 g Tris-(2-hydroxyäthyl)-isocyanurat, 165 g Äthylenglykol,
388 g Dimethylterephthalat und 0,0345 g Bleioxyd zugefügt. Das Reaktionsgemisch wurde auf
2300C erhitzt, wobei ein orangefarbener Festkörper
ausfiel. Es wurde so lange (ungefähr 48 bis 72 Stunden) erhitzt, bis die Lösung wieder klar wurde.
Zu 192 g Trimellithsäureanhydrid in 150 g N-Methylpyrrolidon wurde bei 93° C langsam eine Lösung
von 100 g Oxydianilin in 150 g N-Methylpyrrolidon zugegeben, und anschließend wurde eine Lösung von
254 g Dimethylterephthalat 103 gÄthylenglykol, 120g Tris-(2-hydroxyäthyl)-isocyanurat und 0,15 g Bleioxyd
zugefügt, über einen Zeitraum von 24 Stunden wurde die Temperatur auf 2270C erhöht, bis die
Viskosität des Ansatzes bei einem Feststoffanteil von 30% den Wert M erreicht hatte. Dabei destillierten
Methanol und Xylol ab.
Vergleichsversuch 1
Das Produkt gemäß Beispiel 2 wurde mit 1800 g Kresolsäure auf einen Feststoffgehalt von 24% verdünnt.
840 g der 24% igen Lösung,
8 g Tetraisopropyltitanat,
8 g Tetraisopropyltitanat,
56 g einer 40% igen Lösung des gemischten cycl· sehen Trimeren des 2,4- und 2,6-Tolylendiisocyanats,
in welchem die drei freien Isocyanatgruppen
mit m-Kresol blockiert sind, in Kresolsäure und
25 g einer 40% igen Lösung von Phenol/Formaldehydharz in Kresolsäure wurden auf 120° C
erhitzt und dann abgekühlt.
Anschließend wurde damit ein Kupferdraht überzogen und im Drahtturm bei 4000C in üblicher Weise
getrocknet. Zum Vergleich wurde ein handelsüblicher, mit Tetrabutyltitanat und Zinkoctoat modifizierter
Polyesterimid-Drahtlack auf Basis von Glyzerin, Terephthalsäure, Trimellithsäureanhydrid und Methylendianilin
herangezogen.

Das Verfahren wurde genau wie in den Beispielen 2 bis 8 durchgeführt, mit der Ausnahme, daß im Beispiel 11
die Reihenfolge der Zugabe der Stoffe so geändert wurde, daß das Methylendianilin der letzte Bestandteil war,
der zugegeben wurde, d.h., die Polyimidbildung erfolgte nicht vor Zugabe der polyesterbildenden Verbindungen:

Claims (3)
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Polyesteramiden durch die Umsetzung von
a) 5 bis 50 Gewichtsprozent, bezogen auf das Endprodukt, eines Umsetzungsproduktes aus
1,92 bis 2,08 Mol eines cyclischen Anhydrids einer aromatischen Tri- oder Tetracarbonsäure
mit ortho-ständigen Carboxylgruppen und aus 1 Mol eines Diamins, oder dessen Komponenten im angegebenen Molverhältnis,
mit
b) 4,4'-Benzophenondicarbonsäure und/oder Terephthalsäure und/oder Isophthalsäure, oder
deren Alkyldiestern, Alkylmonoestern oder Säurehalogeniden, oder mit Gemischen, in
denen bis zu 50 Äquivalentprozent dieser Dicarbonsäuren durch eine andere Di- oder
Polyearbonsäure oder deren Anhydrid ersetzt sind, und mit
c) einem oder mehreren mehrwertigen Alkoholen, wobei die Komponenten unter b) und
el in solchen Mengenverhältnissen verwendet werden, daß auf 1 Äquivalent der Di- und
Polycarbonsäuren 1 bis 1,6 Äquivalente der mehrwertigen Alkohole entfallen, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, daß man als mehrwertigen Alkohol Tris-(2-hydroxyäthyl)-isocyanurat
oder dessen Gemische mit mehrwertigen Alkoholen, die mindestens zu 20 Äquivalentprozent aus Tris-(2-hydroxyäthyl)-isocyanurat
bestehen, verwendet.
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Gemische mehrwertiger Alkohole
verwendet, die mindestens zu 50 Äquivalentpro/ent aus Tris-(2-hydroxyäthvl)-isocyanurat bestehen.
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 und 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Gemische aus Tris-(2-hydroxyäthyl)-isocyanurat
und zweiwertigen Alkoholen verwendet.
