Verfahren zur Metallisierung von geformten Gebilden thermoplastischer Kunststoffe
Es ist bekannt, Copolymerisate aus Acrylnitril, Butadien und Styrol, d.h. sogenannte ABS-Polymerisate, mit festhaftenden
Metallüberzügen zu versehen, indem man auf die vorbehandelten Kunststoffoberflächen einen dünnen Metallfilm
aus Kupfer und/oder Nickel aufbringt und dann auf elektrochemischen (galvanischem) Wege eine Metallplattierung
durchführt; vgl. K. Stöckhert, Kunststoffe, Bd* 55, S.
(1965)» H. Wiegand und Mitarbeiter, Kunststoffe, Bd. 56, S. 773 (1966).
Es ist ferner bekannt, daß sich Kunststoffe direkt metallisieren
lassen, wenn eine relativ große Menge elektrisch leitendes Material, wie z.B. Graphit, darin enthalten ist;
vgl. H. Uebigau, Kunststoffe, Bd. 49, S. 45 (1959). Letzteres
Verfahren hat jedoch den Nachteil, daß die Zugabe von Graphit oder anderer elektrisch leitender Stoffe die mechanische
Festigkeit des Kunststoffes schwächt.
Homopolymerisate des VinylChlorids führen zu keinen ausreichenden
Haftfestigkeiten des Metallfilms.

Es wurde, nun gefunden, daß überraschenderweise eine gute
Metallisierung von KünststoffOberflächen ohne■Einarbeitung
von besonderen Zusatzstoffen gelingt, wenn die geformten Kunststoffe aus ööpqlymerisäten des Vinylchlorids mit
Diestern der·Fumarsäure ünd/oder Maleinsäure bestehen; und
zwar, muß die- Menage der einpolymerisierten Pumarsäurediester
und/oder Mäleinsäurediester über 4 Gewichtsprozenten betragen«
Hierbei hat" si oft herausgestellt, daß*insbesondere Diester
der Fumarsäure ünd/oder Maleinsäure mit Akylresten von
Gq - Con günstige Werte ergeben»' ' ■ '"'■

Die Copolymeren aus Vinylchlorid und Pumarsäurediester und/
oder Mäleinsäurediester können in den üblichen technischen
Autoklaven.hergestellt; werden bei ähnlichen Drucken wie die Homöpöiymerisate de.s Vinylchlorids.
Man erhält ausgezeichnete Haftfestigkeiten der Metallfolien
auf den geformten Ö.ebilden der Gopolymerisate gemäß vorliegender
Erfindung.,
Die 00polymeren können wie folgt hergestellt werden:
in einem 10 1 - Rührautoklaven werden
4*2 1 entsalztes Wasser,
190 ecm einer 3 ^igen wässrigen Lösung des Handelspro·-
duktes Tylose MH 50 (niedrigviscoser Cellulose-
methyläther),
14,3 g Dilauroylperoxyd,;
14,3 g Dilauroylperoxyd,;
2,02 l<g Vinylchlorid und -
176 g Fumarsäuredieetylester gegeben.

Der Autoklaveninhalt wird mit einem Dreiflügelrührer
(UpM 400) bei einer Temperatur von 55 C über eine Dauer
von 20 Stdn. gerührt. Das Copolymerisat wird durch Filtration oder Zentrifugieren isoliert, mehrmals mit Wasser
gewaschen und getrocknet (Temperatur: 50 C).
Die Ausbeute an Copolymerem liegt um 90 ^. -
Analog können die ßoPolymerisate aus Vinylchlorid und anderen Fumarsäurediestera und/oder Maleinsäurediestern hergestellt
werden. .
Für die nachstehenden Beispiele wurde ein 4 mm starkes
"Tlattenmaterial metallisiert. Die:Stabilisierung erfolgte
in der für Polyvinylchlprid üblichen Weise, z.B.. mit einem
Barium-Cadmium-StabilisatOr.

Die Vorbehandlung erfolgt; in an sich bekannter Weise,

1. Entfetten mit 40 $igerKatronlauge, " .
2. Beizen mit Chromschwefelsäure (4Q g KgCr2Ou) + 20 g
Wasser + 500,ecm konzentrierte Schwefelsäure), bei 60 C
während 60 Minuten. .: -
3. Neutralisieren mit 20 ^iger wässriger HaHSO^,
4. Sensibilisieren mit Stannochlorid-Lösung (35 g SnCl2,
+ 50 ecm konzentrierte HCl + 1000 ecm Wasser).
.5. Aktivieren mit Silbernitrat-Lösung (2 g AgTTO^ in Wasser
lösen, 10 ecm .Ammoniak (konz.) zusetzen und auf 1 1
Wasser auffüllen). '
Die chemische Erzeugung der Grundschicht erfolgt z.B. durch
Zusämmengeben folgender Lösungen im Verhältnis 1: 1 und nachfolgendes;Eintauchen des Kunststoffes:
Lösung A: 31,8 g Kupfersulfat,
..', , 8,2 g Nickelchlorid,. ..
76,6 g 37;r^ifre ,wässrige Formaldehyd-Lösung,
. ,532 Qcm Wasser. . . ■
Lösung B: 23,0 g NaOH,
95,5 g Kaiium-natrium-tartrat,
8,2 g Na2CO5,
532 ecm Wasser.
Die galvanische Verkupferung erfolgt z.B. in einem sauren
Kupfersulfatbad aus 250 g^^ CuSO4, 100 g. Schwefelsäure und

1000 ecm Wasser "bei einer Spannung von 0,5.TbIt. Die
Metallsohicirfc wurde Ms auf 7OyU. auf die in bekannter Weise
vorbehandelte Kunststoffplatte aufgalvahislert.
Haftfestigkeit: 4-,2 kg /25 mm nach DIN 4-OJO2.
In entsprechender Weise können auf die Grundschicht aus
Kupfer und/oder Fickel und/oder SiXber auch andere Metalle,
Z.B. Ag, Au, ITi, Gr oder dergleichen, galvanisch aufgebracht
werden. V ~
Die chemische Erzeugung einer Nickelgruhdschicht kann wie.
folgt bewirkt werden: Eintauchen des Kunststpffes bei 90 G
in folgende lösung: . .
30 g NickelChlorid, -^

auf 1000 ecm mit Wasser aufgefüllt und"mit Ammoniak auf

Die· chemische Erzeugung einer Silbergrundsciileht erfolgt
z.B.*in an sich bekannter -Weise durch Eintauchem des Gegenstandes
in eine Silbersialziösung,- der ein Reduktionsmittel
beigemischt ist.1 -

Claims (2)
- P ate η ta η s ρ r ü c h e : " \,1.. Verfahren zur Metallisierung von geformten Gebilden aus Kunststoffen durch chemische Reduktion von Metallsalzlösungen, wie Kupfer- und/oder Mekel-, und/oder SilberSalzlösungen, mit ,anschließendem galvanischem Metallauftrag, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß geformte Gebilde aus Gopolymerisaten des VinylChlorids metallisiert werden, die "zwischen".."4 und 20 Gewichtsprozent einpolymerisierte Pumarsäurediester und/oder Maleinsäurediester enthalten.
- 2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die einpolymerisiertenFumarsäürediester und/oder Maleinsäurediester Alkylreste von ög— C20 enthalten. ·Dr,Mi/MuIOSffiÖ/1576
