Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht eich auf eine Emulsion und
betrifft inebeeondere eine Waaeer-in-öl-Emulsion, die eioh
als hydraulische Flüesigteit eignet.
Gemäß der Erfindung iet eine Waeser-in-Öl-Eauleion, die ale
hydraulische Flüssigkeit geeignet ist, derart aufgebaut, daß sie 20 - 45 Gew.-^1 bezogen auf die Emulsion, an Wasser und
80 - 55 Gen.-#, bezogen auf die Emulsion, an einem öl enthält,
welchee eine heterocyclische Verbindung (A) der allgemeinen

worin R eine 0~q CQQ-Alkenylgruppe, Z ein Sauerstoffatom, eine
NH-Gruppe oder eine BX-Gruppe bedeutet, V/obei X eine stickstoffhaltige
oder eine sauerstoffhaltige Kohlenwasseratoffgruppe
ist, sowie einen polyorscyalkylierten Teilester (B) eines
Polyols und einer Monoearbonsäure enthältf wobei das Gesamtgewicht
der Verbindung (A) und des Esters (B) 1-10 Gew.-$, vorzugsweise
2-8 Gew.-sS, des Gewichtes des Öles ausmacht und
das Verhältnis der Verbindung (A) sum Ester (B) 1 : 1 bis 8 s 1, vorzugsweise 2 s 1 bis 4· : 1, beträgt» Die Emulsion ist in einem
weiten Bereich der Temperatur stabil, und auch eine Trennung tritt unter den strengen Anforderungen des Gebrauches der Emulsion
als hydraulische flüssigkeit nicht auf.
Gemäß der Erfindung kann die Emulsion auch bis zu 25 Gew.-1^,
beispielsweise 1-20 Gew*~$, vorzugsweise 5-15 Gew,~$? bezogen
auf das Gewicht des 7/assers, an einem Alkylenglykol enthalten.
Der Glykol kann ein Co_g~Alkylenglykol sein, vorzugsweise
Äthylenglyfcol.
Das öl kann ein iUnj^eralöl sein. Ein Beispiel eines solchen
Öles ist eines mit einem Viskosltätsindex (nach Dean-Davia)
von mindestens 80, vorzugsweise 90 - 100. Eine solche Mineralölfrakhion

si sehen oder einem gemiachthasisehen Roliöl abgeleitet sein. Dae
Öl kann auch im Schmierölbereich liegen und daher eine Viskosität
von 75 - 250, vorsugsweise 100 - 150 Saybolt~Univeraal-Se~
kiraöen {abgekürzt SUS) bei 37,8° C (100° 3?) haben. Ein Beispiel
dieses Öls ist ein auf einen hohen Vißkositätsindex raffiniertes
Mineralschmieröl mit den folgenden Eigenschaften:

In der heterocyclischen Verbindung (A) kann die Gruppe R von einem olefinischen Polymer abgeleitet sein. Das Polymer kann
ein Molekulargewicht von 300 - 5000, vorzugsweise von 800 1500, haben. Beispiele des Polymers sind Polyäthylen, Polypropylen,
Polybuten, ein Copolymer von Äthylen und Propylen, ein Copolymer von Äthylen und Isobuten und ein Copolymer von Äthylen
und α -MethylstyroJL. Vorzugsweise ist das Polymer ein Polyisobuten.
V/snn Z ein Sauerstoffatom ist, ist die Verbindung (A) ein Alke
nylsuccinanhydrid. Das Anhydrid kann durch Umsetzung von Male insäureanhydrid siit dem Alken, vcn äem die Gruppe H abgeleitet
ist, in bekannter Weise hergestellt werden. Vorzugsweise
wird die Reaktion in Abwesenheit eines Katalysators ausgeführt.
Die Temperatur der Reaktion kann bei 149 - 3160C (300 - 600° F),
Vorzugs weise bei 177 - 232° C (350 « 450° F) liegen. Das Molverhältnis
des Alkens zum Maleinsäureanhydrid kann 1 : 1 bis 1 ? 10, vorzugsweise 1 s 1 bis 1 t 5» betragen.
Wenn Z eine NH-Gruppe darstellt, dann ist die Verbindung (A) ein Alkenylsuccinimid. Das Imid kann durch Umsetzung eines Alkenylsuccinanhydrids
mit einem Amin in bekannter Weise hergestellt werden. Beispiele für das Amin sind Ammoniak, Aminoalkohole und
Polyamine (beispielsweise ein Monoalkylendiamin oder ein Polyalkylendiamin).
Es wird bevorzugt, ein primäres Amin zu verwenden. Wenn ein sekundäres Amin benützt wird, muß es nicht ein richtiges
Imid ergeben? für die Zwecke der vorliegenden Erfindung wird jedoch
die Verwendung eines sekundären Amins als geeignet angesehen.
Z eine NX-Gruppe darstellt, dann ist die Verbindung (A) ein N-substituiertes Alkenylsuccinimid. Das Imid kann durch Umsetzung
eines Alkenylsuccinanhydrids mit einem primären Amin hergestellt werden. Die Gruppe X kann aliphatischer Natur sein.
Wenn die Gruppe X eine stickstoffhaltige Kohlenwasserstoffgruppe
ist, so ist dies vorzugsweise eine aliphatische Gruppe mit 1 10
Kohlenet offatomen und 1-5 Stickstoffatomen. Beispielsweise
kann die Gruppe X abgeleitet sein von einem Monoalkylendiamin

(z.B. von Äthylendiamin, Propylendiamin, Butylendiamin od,er Octylendiamin),
von einem 0 , 10~Dialkylaminoalky.laiain (z.B. τοη

vorzugsweise von einem C* ,Q-Dimethylaminoalkylamin
(z.B. von Dimethylaminomethylamin oder Dimethylaminopropylamin), oder von einem Polyalkylenpolyarain (z.B. von Diäthylentriamin,
Dipropylentrlamin, Tetraäthylenpentamin oder Pentaäthylenhexamin).
Die ÜSA-Patentschriften Nr. 3,018 291 und Nr. 3,131 150
beschreiben die Herstellung einer Verbindung (A), in welcher die Gruppe X den vorstehend angegebenen Möglichkeiten entsprechen
kann.
Wenn die Gruppe X eine sauerstoffhaltige Kohlenwaaeeretoffgruppe
ist, kann dies eine aliphatische Gruppe mit 1-10 Kohlenstoff atomen und 1-5 Sauerstoffatomen sein. Die Gruppe kann von einem
Aminoalkohol abgeleitet β ein. Der Aminoalkohol kann ein C*^-
Aminoalkohol mit mindestens einer Hydroxylgruppe sein· Beispiele
eines solchen Alkoholes sind l-Amino-2-hydroxyäthaa,
l*"Amino~2-hydro3cypropan, l-Amino~3-hydroxypropan und 1-Amino-2,3-dihydroxypropan.
Der Aminoalkohol kann auch ein 3?oly(hydroxyalkyl)-aminoalkan mit mindestens zwei Hydroxylgruppen sein.
Beispiele eines solchen Aminoalkoholes sind Bis(hydroxymethyl)-aminoäthan
und Tris(hydroxymethyl)~aminomethaii. Der Aminoalkohol»
von welchem X abgeleitet ist, kann eine sekundäre Aminogruppe

aufweisen. Beispiele eines solchen Aminoalkohole sind Alkyl*
aminoalkanole (z.B. A'thyl-2-hydroxyäthylamin, Propyl-2-hydroxypropylamin
oder Propyl~3-hydroxypropylamin), Polyalksfölamine
(z.B. Diethanolamin oder Diisopropanolamin) sowie Alkylpo-Iy(hydroxyalkyl)-amine.
Bei der Herstellung der Verbindung (A), worin die Gruppe X eine sauerstoffhaltige Kohlenwasserstoffgruppe ist, kann ein
Alkenylsuecinanhydrid mit einem Aminoalkanol in Gegenwart oder
Abwesenheit eines Katalysator umgesetzt werden. Die Reaktionstemperatur kann 50 - 300° C betragen. In Abwesenheit eines Katalysators
kann elna Reaktionstemperatur von 150 - 250° C erforderlich
werden, wogegen bei Verwendung eines Katalysators (z„E« Pyridin) dio Reaktionstemperatur 60 - 100° C sein kann.
Das Molverhältnif; des Anhydrids zum Aminoalkanol kann (1 - 10) :
(0,25 - 20) vorzugsweise (1 - 2) s (0,5 - 10), betragen. Die
Reaktion kann in Gegenwart eines niedrigsiedenden Lösungsmittels,
beispielsweise Hexan, Heptan, Octan oder Isooetan, unter Druck bewirkt werdem, um ein Verdampfen des Lösungsmittels
zu vermeiden. Hach Vollendung der Reaktion können unlösliche
Verunreinigungen abfiltiert werden und das Hydrat kann zur Beseitigung
des Lösungsmittels einer Wasserdampfdestillation unterworfen werden.

GeviünschtenfallB kann das durch Umsetzung des Anhydrids mit dem
Alkane! erhaltene Produkt durch ein Alkylenoxyd alkoxyliert werden.
Beispielsweise kann Äthylenoxyd oder Propylen-l92-oxyd mit
einem l^-Hydroxyalkyl-alkenylsuccinimid» beispielsweise mit einem
H-Byäroxypropyl-alkenylsuccinimid mit 30 - 500 Kohlenstoffatomen
in der Polyalkenylkette, zur Reaktion gebracht werden.
Dem genannten Produkt kann man ferner etwas öl zusetzen, um ein
Konzentrat zu erhalten, das zur Bereitung der Emulsion verwendet ¥Jerden kann. Dieses öl kann gewtinschtenfalls mit den Reaktionskomponenten
vor der Reaktion vermischt werden.
Der polyoxyalkylierte Seilester (B) kann von einem Polyol mit
2-6 Kohlenstoffatomen und 2-5 Hydroxylgruppen abgeleitet sein oder die Form eines Gemisches solcher Polyole haben. Ein
Beispiel eines solchen Polyols ist ein innerer Ätheralkohol mit ein oder zwei ithergruppen, beispielsweise Sorbiten» Mannitan
oder Dulcitan. Der innere Ätheralkohol kann durch teilweises Dehydratisieren eines Hexols, wie Sorbit, Mannit oder Dulcit,
hergestellt werden, wie dies in der USA-Patentschrift Nr. 2,322
beschrieben ist«

Ein Mönoester der eben erwähnten Art kann in an sich bekannter
Weise zu einem Ester (B) alkoxyliert sein. Beispieleweise
kann der Ester mit einem Alkylenoxyd (z.B. Äthylenoxyd oder Propylen-l,2~oxyd) umgesetzt werden. Vorzugsweise liegt die
Anzahl der Mole Alkylenoxyd, die mit einem Mol des Monoesters
umgesetzt werden, in einem Bereich von 4-24 liegend, wodurch man einen geeigneten hydrophilen Ester (B) erhält. Die USA-Patentschrift
KTr. 2,380 166 beschreibt die Herstellung von hydrophylen
Verbindungen durch Alkoxylieren von Teilestern der PoIyole.
Polyoxyalkylierte Teilester sind im Handel beispielsweise
unter dem Markennamen "ÜJween" (Atlas Chemical Industries, Incorporated)
erhältlich.
Außer der heterocyclischen Verbindung (A) und dem Ester (B) können weitere Zusatzstoffe in einer Zusammensetzung gemäß
der Erfindung vorhanden sein. Beispiele hiervon sind Antioxydationsmittel, abnutzungsverhindernde Mittel, Stockpunktserniedriger,
öllösliche Farbstoffe und schaumhindernde Mittel. Die weiteren Additive können in Mengen von 0,01 - 2 Gew.-#,
beispielsweise 0,2-1 Gew.-^, bezogen auf das Gewicht der
Emulsion, vorhanden sein.

Beispiele der Antioxydationsmittel sind Phenole, z.B. Alkylphenole«
wie 254-, 2,3-, 3»4-, 2,6- oder 3,5-Mamylphenol,2,4-])imethyl-6-tert.buty!phenol
und 2,6-Di-tert,butyl-4-methylphenol, phenolisohe
Amine, z.B. Arylamine, wie Phenyl~et -naphthylamin oder Phenyl-^
naphtljylamin, sowie Thiophosphate von Metallen der Gruppe Ha oder
Hb flea Periodensystems, z.B. Calcium- oder Zinkdimethylcyclohexyldithiophosphat.
Beispiele von abnutzungaverhijidernden Mitteln (anti-wear agente)
sind schwefelhaltige Verbindungen, wie ein öllöalioher Polyhalogenkohlenwasserstoff~bhiooarbonatester.
Der Ester kann beispielsweise PolycJalorbenzin-Eiethylxanthat sein, das unter dem Markennamen
"Santopoid S" (Monsanto Chemical Company) in den Handel gebracht wird. Dieses Material hat Qi.n spezifisches Gewicht von 1,19
bei 15,6/15,6° C (60/6O0F), einen Flammpunkt von 121° C (250° P),
eine Viskosität von 63 oSt bei. 37,8° C (100° F), ei,nen Sohwefelgehalt
von 11 # und einen Chlorgshalt von 31 #. Ein solches Thiooarbonat
kann durch Umsetzung eine» Halogen (z.B. Chlor)-benzine
(petroleum naphtha) mit einera Altoli (z.B. Kalium)-alkyldithiocarbonat
hergestellt werden. Weite^x« Beispiele von versohleißhindernden
Mitteln sind organische Sulfide (z.B. Dibeneylsulfid oder Di ■-cillordibenzyldiaulfid),
Di'<;hiopho8phate mehrwertiger Metalls, z.B.
Zink- oder Bleisalze von C.->l2""Alkyldi'tllioPllo8Pi:ia1:en» ^1* Dithiocarbamate

Beispiele von Stookpunktserniedrigern sind polymere Methacrylate,
z.B. die unter der Markenbezeichnung "Acryloid 150" (Rohm and Haas Company) erhältlichen Produkte.
Beispiele von Farbstoffen sind Naphtolgelb, Sandozgelb, Methylenblau und Alizarinverbindungen.
Beispiele von Antischaummitteln sind Siliconflüssigkeiten. Beispielsweise
kann eine solche Flüssigkeit ein Produkt "DC-200 fluid" mit einer Viskosität von 100 - 1000 cSt bei 250° C vom
Silicontyp sein, eine von der Dow-Corning Company hergestellte
Flüssigkeit, die in den USA-Patentschriften Nr. 2,563 588 und
Nr. 2,662 055 beschrieben ist.
Die Erfindung wird nun an Hand der nachfolgenden Zusammensetzungen
weiter erläutert.
40 Gew.-Teile Wasser wurden langsam zu 60 Gew.-Teilen eines
IIVI-Mineralöls (Viskosität 100 SUS bei 37,8° C) zugesetzt, das
einen Gehalt von 4 Gew.-#, bezogen auf das Gewicht des Öles, an einer Kombination von 3 Gew.-Teilen N-!Oris(hydroxyiaethyl)-methyl-polyisobutenylsuecinimld

in welcher es so lange vermischt ¥;urde» bis eine homogene Emulsion

Die Emulßionsstabilität von Zusammensetzungen gemäß der Erfindung
wird durch die nachfolgenden Versuche veranschaulicht.
Es wurden Probeflüssigkeiten von V/asser-in-öl-Emulsionen
(60 Gew.-# ölphase, 40 Gew.-^ wässerige Phase) aus einem neutralen
Mineralöl der Type HVI 100 mit einem Zusatz von 4 Gewo#,
bezogen auf das Öl, an Emulgator hergestellt. Die Emulsionsstabilität der Probeflüssigkeiten bei erhöhter Temperatur wurde
durch Messen der Menge des nach lagerung bei 60° C (140° F) abgeschiedenen
Öles bestimmt. Die Emulsionsstabilität der Probeflüssigkeiten unter abwechselnden Frier- und Taubedingungen (FOH)
wurde an Hand der Maximalzahl an Frier-Auftau-Zyklen, die vor
dem Brechen der Emulsion erzielt werden konnten, veranschaulicht.
Das Brechen der Emulsion ist definiert als das Auftreten von 10 #
freiem Wasser oder von 30 $ freiem öl. Jeder FTH-Zyklue dauerte
24 Stunden und umfaßte eine lagerung von 16 Stunden bei -17s8° C
(O0F) mit einer darauf folgenden Lagerung während 3 1/2 Stunden
bei Raumtemperatur, einer Stunde bei 93»3° 0 (200° F) usd 3 1/2
Stunden bei Raumtemperatur.

Die Zusammensetzung XII enthielt, bezogen auf das Gewicht des
Öles, 4 Gew.-^ Polyisobutenylsuccinanhydrid (Molekulargewicht
der Polyisobuter.ylkette etvia 1100).
Die Zusammensetzung IV enthielt, bezogen auf das Gewicht öl, 4 Gew.-# H-Tris(hydroaymethyl)iaethyl-polyisobutenylF,ucd.--nimid
(Molekulaa.-gewicht der Polyisobutenylkette etwa 3.100) a
(Reaktioneprodvkt Ton Polyisobutenylsuccinanhydrid (Tiolekulargewioht
der Polyisobutenylkette etwa 1100) mit Tris (hydroxymethyl)aminom^than.)
Die Zusammensetzung V enthielt, bezogen auf das Gewicht an öl,
4 Gew.-5$ eines Heaktionsproduktes von Polyisobutenylsuccinanhyd
rid (Molekulargewicht der Polyisobuteaylkette etwa 1100) mit
Tetraäthylenpentamin.

Aus der Tabelle ist zu ersehen, daß die Emulsionen mit Suocin-
anhydrid allein oder den Imidderivaten allein ganz instabil
eind. Diese Emulsionen eignen sich auch nicht zur Verwendung als hydraulische Flüssigkeiten. Eine Emulsion mit dem polyoxyalkylierten
Ester allein war eine öl-inWasser-Emulsion,
die sich zur Verwendung als hydraulische Flüssigkeit nicht eignete» weil ihr die Schmiereigenschaften fehlten» Emulsionen»
die sowohl das Suecinanhydrid oder dessen Imidderivate und den
polyoxyalkylierten Ester enthalten, sind hoch stabil und in ihrer
Stabilität den hydraulischen Flüssigkeiten vom gebräuchlichen Typus entsprechend der Zusammensetzung 1 Überlegen» V/eiters
ist zu beachten, daß der Zusatz von Äthylenglykol zu den
hydraulischen Flüssigkeiten vom gebräuchliche« fypus der Emulsions
Stabilität abträglich ist, was in ausgesprochenem Gegensatz zu der Verbesserung der EmulsionsStabilität steht, die
mit den erfindungsgemäßen Zusammensetzungen erzielt wird.

Claims (1)
- Patentansprüche1„ V/asser-in-öl-Emulsion* insbesondere für hydraulische Flüssigkeiten, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Emulsion 20 - 45 Gewe-# Wasser und 80 - 55 Gew.-$ eines Öles enthält, das eine heterocyclische Verbindung (A) der allgemeinen Formel:flη
0worin R eine G~~KQQ~AlkenylgTwpjie, Z ein Sauerstoffatom, eine NB-Gruppe oder HX-Gruppe bedeutet, nobel X eine stick·" stoffhaltige oder sauerstoffhaltige Kohlenwasserstoffgruppe 1st, sowie einen polyoxyalkylierten Teilester (B) eines Polyols und einer Honocarbonsäure enthält, wobei das Gesamt gewicht der Verbindung (A) und des Esters (B) 1-10 Gew.-96 des Gewichtes des Öles ausmacht und das Verhältnis der Ver bindung (A) zum Ester (B) . 1 ί 1 bis 8 s 1 beträgt.2.
