KAISERLICHES
PATENTAMT.
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft die Herstellung einer Steinmasse bezw. Mörtelmasse,
welche zu allen technischen Zwecken gleich gut verwendbar ist und auch besonders zu
kunstgewerblichen Arbeiten geeignet erscheint.
Vermöge ihrer eigenartigen Zusammensetzung ist sie, abgebunden, hart, aber nicht
spröde, von großer Druckfestigkeit und läßt
ίο sich daher mit Säge und Meißel vorzüglich
bearbeiten.
Durchaus nicht wassersaugend, ist sie gänzlich frostbeständig und gestattet noch eine
Verwendung als Mörtel bei — 400 C.
Als Mörtel bindet sie mit jeder anderen Masse, Steinen jeder Art, selbst mit Holz
und Eisen; sie ist nagelbar; sie zerstört das Eisen durch Rost nicht.
Sie ist wasser- und feuerbeständig und von hoher Politurfähigkeit. Die Herstellung ist
eine sehr billige. Jeder Abfall ist ohne weiteres wieder verwendbar.
Gegenüber den bekannten Verfahren zur Herstellung von Kunststeinen, welche stets
Kalk, Gips, Zement oder Ton als Hauptbestandteil zeigen, dient hier als vorwiegendes
Material feiner, reiner Quarzsand, der bis zu 90 Teilen in der Masse vorhanden sein kann. Diesem wird zur Ausfüllung der
Zwischenräume pulverisierter Quarz beigemengt.
Diesem reinen Quarzmaterial setzt man eine Menge gemahlenen Alunits zu. Da Alunit
bekanntlich ebenso wie der Quarz Flüssigkeit nicht aufsaugt, aber wesentlich weicher ist als
Quarz, so ermöglicht die Mischung eine gute Bearbeitung des fertigen Steines, da sie nicht
spröde ist und dennoch nicht Wasser aufsaugt, wie es ein Zusatz von Ton oder Kalk
bei anderen Verfahren bewirkt.
Als bindendes Material wird die für diesen Zweck bekannte Magnesia beigegeben und
durch Zusatz von Borax die Bindekraft vermehrt.
Sämtliche Stoffe werden auf trockenem, kaltem Wege mechanisch gut gemengt und
erhalten dann noch eine Beimischung von Graphit in so geringer Menge, daß auf jedem
Masseteilchen lediglich ein leichter Graphitüberzug entsteht, zu dem Zwecke, die Mischung
für die Annahme des kurz vor der Verwendung als Mörtel oder zur Steinfabrikation
beizumengenden, an niedrig siedenden Kohlenwasserstoffen armen, daher nicht leicht entflammbaren
Mineralöles geeigneter zu machen. Die Beimengung dieses Öles bewirkt eine fast vollständige dauernde Aufhebung der
Kapillarwirkung im Steine im Gegensatze zu den bekannten Petroleumzusätzen, welche eines
sie absorbierenden Massebestandteiles bedürfen und dennoch ausschwitzen.
Die so erhaltene Masse ist von teigartiger Beschaffenheit und kann durch einen geringen
Wasserzusatz bis zur gewünschten Bildsamkeit gebracht werden.
Das Formen von Gegenständen, beispielsweise von Steinen, geschieht ohne Anwendung
von Wärme oder Druck. Die Dichtigkeit des Gefüges läßt sich jedoch wesentlich vermehren durch Zuhilfenahme von Pressen,
ζ. B. der in der Tonindustrie gebräuchlichen Strangpressen. Die Färbung der Masse geschieht
durch Einmengen von Mineralfarben; sie bietet gegenüber den bekannten Verfahren
nichts neues.
Eine Mischung zum Zwecke der Verwendung als Mörtel, die von guter Wirkung ist,
wird beispielsweise wie folgt hergestellt:
85 Teile feiner, reiner Quarzsand, 4 Teile
zerpulverter Quarz, 0,5 Teile Alunit, 1 Teil Magnesia, 2 Teile Borax, 0,5 Teile Graphit,
2 Teile Mineralfarben, sodann kurz vor der Verwendung 3 Teile Mineralöl, hierauf 5 Teile
Wasser.
Claims (1)
- Patent-Anspruch:Verfahren zur Herstellung eines nicht wassersaugenden, frost- und hitzebeständigen Kunststeines oder Mörtels auf kaltem Wege aus Quarzsand als Hauptbestandteil unter Anwendung von Borax und Magnesia als Bindemittel, unter Zusatz von gemahlenem Alunit als Lückenfüllung, unter Durcharbeitung dieser Mischung mit einer geringen Menge Graphit zum Überziehen der einzelnen Teilchen, unter Beimischung eines schwer entflammbaren Mineralöles und eines Wasserzusatzes mit nachfolgendem Abbinden.
