Description

DEUTSCHES
Die Erfindung betrifft die Verwendung von PoIyäthern bzw. Polyätherestern zur Metallbearbeitung, wie z. B. zum Bohren, Drehen, Walzen oder Ziehen. Gemäß der Erfindung werden als Metallbearbeitungsmittel solche mehrere -(CH0J4 — O-Gruppen besitzende Polyäther bzw. Polyätherester verwendet. welche die —(C H2) 4 — O-Gruppen entweder allein oder in mehrfachem Wechsel mit anderen Alkylenoxydresten als Kettenglieder enthalten. Die vorgeschlagenen Metallbearbeitungsmittel können in an sich bekannter Weise, d. h. als solche oder in Form von wäßrigen Emulsionen, angewendet werden.
Die für die Durchführung der vorliegenden Erfindung geeigneten Polyäther und Polyätherester können in mannigfacher Weise erhalten worden sein. Geeignet sind z. B. die Verbindungen, die erhalten sind durch Polymerisation von Tetrahydrofuran oder von Gemischen aus Tetrahydrofuran und 1.2-Oxidoverbindungen — etwa gemäß den Verfahren der französischen Patentschrift 898 269 ·—, gegebenenfalls durch weitere Umsetzung von austauschfähiges Halogen enthaltenden Polyäthern bzw. -ätherestern mit den Alkaliverbindungen von Alkoholen, 1,2-, 1,3- oder 1,4-Glykolen. Phenolen oder Carbonsäuren — etwa gemäß dem Verfahren der deutschen Patentschrift 883 506 —. Ferner sind solche Verbindungen geeignet, die durch Kondensation von 1.4-Butylenglykol mit sich selbst oder mit 1,2- bzw. 1,3-Glykolen oder mit 1,2- bzw. 1,3-Oxidoverbindungen erhalten sind; auch solche Verbindungen sind brauchbar, die durch Umsetzung von 1.4-Dichlorbutan. <3,cS'-Dichlordibutyläther oder <5,<S'-Dichlordibutoxybiitan mit 1,2-, 1,3- oder 1,4-Glykolen erhältlich sind. Schließlich sind auch solche Verbindungen für die Zwecke der vorliegenden Erfindung geeignet, die aus den obenerwähnten Verbindungen, soweit diese noch freie Hydroxylgruppen tragen, durch Veresterung mit ein- oder mehrwertigen Carbonsäuren erhalten sind.
Statt die Polyäther oder Polyätherester der angeführten Art für sich allein oder in Mischung miteinander als Metallbearbeitungsmittel einzusetzen, kann man sie gegebenenfalls auch gemeinsam mit anderen Metallbearbeitungsmitteln verwenden; als solche seien beispielsweise genannt Kohlenwasserstofföle bzw. -fette, komplexe Ester aus Dicarbonsäuren und GIykolen, ferner Esteröle, wie sie z. B. aus mehrwertigen Alkoholen und einwertigen Carbonsäuren oder aus mehrwertigen Carbonsäuren und einwertigen Alkoholen erhältlich sind, wobei die Kohlenstoffketten der mehrwertigen Alkohole bzw. Carbonsäuren durch Sauerstoff oder Schwefel unterbrochen kein können, sowie Polyäther bzw. Polyätherester, die statt — (CH2)4 —O-Gruppen beispielsweise — (CH2)a —O- oder — (C H2) 3 —· O - Gruppen enthalten; näher be-Metallbearbeitungsmittel

Feste oder halbfeste Polyäther bzw. Polyätherester, die —(CH2J4 — O-Gruppen enthalten, können durch Lösungsmittel in eine für Metallbearbeitungszwecke geeignete Form gebracht werden. Als Lösungsmittel kommen hierfür vor allem solche flüssigen Verbindungen in Betracht, die selbst für Metallbearbeitungszwecke geeignet sind, wie z. B. flüssige Polyäther bzw. Polyätherester, Esteröle oder komplexe Ester. Andererseits kann man die flüssigen Polyäther bzw. PoIyätherester, die —(CHa)4 — O-Gruppen enthalten, mit Fetten, festen Polyäthern bzw. Polyätherestern oder komplexen Estern versetzen, etwa um ihre Viskosität zu erhöhen. Man kann die flüssigen Polyäther bzw. Polyätherester gewünschtenfalls auch mit geeigneten fettsauren Salzen versetzen, wenn man sie verfestigen will.
Man kann die erfindungsgemäß zu verwendenden Polyäther bzw. Polyätherester auch mit einem Zusatz an Antioxydantien versehen, etwa solchen auf der Grundlage von Hydroxy- bzw. Aminoverbindungen, wie z. B. Isooctylphenol, α- oder /J-Phenylaminonaphthalin oder 4-Cyclohexylaminodiphenylamin. Im allgemeinen genügen Mengen unter 1 °/o.
Es ist bereits bekannt, Polyäther bzw. Polyätherester als Metallbearbeitungsmittel zu verwenden, unter anderem solche, die aus 1,2-Butenoxyd hergestellt sind. Demgegenüber zeichnen sich die Metallbearbeitungsmittel der vorliegenden Erfindung, die aus 1,4-Butenoxyd aufgebaut sind, durch einen über-

rasch end höheren Wirkungsgrad aus. wie aus der nachfolgenden Gegenüberstellung hervorgeht:
\'erglichen wurde die Spanbildung beim Drehen von Metallzylindern. Der Schneidstahl bestand aus Suprastahl C. der Schneidenwinkel betrug 66°. der Scher winkel 24°, die Spantiefe 5 mm und der Vorschub 0,4 mm. Die zylindrischen Werkstücke bestanden aus Stahl C 45; ihre Länge betrug 500 mm und ihr Durchmesser 100 mm: die Zahl der Umdrehungen betrug 88 pro Minute. Gedreht wurde von 100 mm Durchmesser auf 90 mm. Die Drehzeit betrug 14 Minuten und 15 Sekunden. AVährend des Drehens wurde der Zufluß der Polyäther, die ein Molekulargewicht von etwa 470 besaßen, stets auf den gleichen Wert eingestellt. Nach jeweils 125 Umdrehungen wurde der dann gerade anfallende Span zur Bestimmung seines Gewichtes abgenommen. In der nachfolgenden Tabelle sind die entsprechenden Zahlen einander gegenübergestellt:
Dem größeren Spangewicht entspricht eine größere Spanlänge und die Größe der Spanlänge ist wiederum ein Maß für die Erhaltung der Schneidfähigkeit des Schneidstahls. Bei der Benutzung des Polyäthers aus 1,4-Butenoxyd zeigte der Werkzeugstahl keine unerwünschte Aufbauschneide, im Gegensatz hierzu ließ der Werkzeugstahl bei Benutzung des Polyäthers aus 1,2-Butenoxyd die Bildung einer starken Aufbauschneide erkennen. Während die Späne bei der Benutzung des Polyäthers aus 1,4-Butenoxyd keine Anlauffarbe aufweisen, waren sie bei Benutzung des Polyäthers aus 1,2-Butenoxyd blau angelaufen; dies läßt darauf schließen, daß die Temperaturen im letzteren Fall erheblich höher waren.

Claims (1)

  1. Patentanspruch
    Verwendung von Polyäthern bzw. Polyätherestern als Metallbearbeitungsmittel, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß solche mehrere —(C H2) 4 — O-Gruppen besitzende Polyäther bzw. Polyätherester verwendet werden, welche die — (CH2)4 —O-Gruppen entweder allein oder in mehrfachem Wechsel mit anderen Alkylenoxydresten als Kettenglieder enthalten.
