  • The invention relates to a method for producing a decorative preform from a decorative material and to a shaping device for producing such a decorative preform.
  • In particular, in automotive increasingly decorative moldings are used, which serve a visually sophisticated cladding of functional components such as handles, steering wheels, brake levers or the like. Such decorative molded components are designed as thin-walled, spatially optionally multi-dimensionally curved shell components, the production of which requires a corresponding shaping process.
  • To achieve a sophisticated, high-quality visual appearance decorative materials such as precious wood veneers, carbon fiber fabric, metal sheets or the like. Used, being formed in a forming process from the example flat decorative material a decorative preform as a spatial entity. Subsequently, the decorative preform can be connected to a carrier material and provided with a transparent coating.   • From the JP 07117020 A is known a shaping device, are integrated in the cutting edges with adjacent curves.   • The invention has for its object to simplify the production of a decorative preform of a decorative material.
  • The object is achieved by a method having the features of claim 1 and by a molding apparatus having the features of claim 5.
  • It is proposed a method and a molding apparatus for producing a decorative preform of a decorative material, wherein the molding device comprises two in a closing direction to each other movable mold halves. One of the two mold halves has a hold-down device mounted in a resilient manner parallel to the closing direction and projecting from this mold half, wherein at least one of the two mold halves is provided with a cutting edge. In addition, at least one mold half is provided with at least one steam channel. To produce the decorative preform, the decorative material is first inserted between the two open mold halves. Subsequently, the two mold halves are moved towards each other in the closing direction, wherein the resiliently mounted and projecting hold-down comes to rest on the decorative material. This results in an exact shaping with a precisely defined cutting process.
  • The hold-down can be hydraulically, pneumatically or otherwise resiliently supported and is suitably supported against at least one elastic compression spring. It is a simple and effective in the construction reliable given. In particular, the holding-down device is arranged in an at least approximately planar mold area in which the decorative material is pressed against the opposite half of the mold. Although the hold-down is indeed part of the form, but without causing in its sphere of action a significant independent shaping. The fixation process by means of the hold-down leads to no independent transformation, whereby slipping of the decorative material during pressing is avoided.
  • The trimming of the decorative material can take place, for example, with one or more cutting edges on a mold half, which are guided past a correspondingly shaped mold surface of the other mold half during the closing operation.
  • Suitably, each mold half is assigned a corresponding number of cutting edges, which cooperate with the trimming. The cutting edges of one mold half are guided past the associated cutting edges of the other mold half during the closing process, forming a precisely defined cutting line with a clean cutting result in their overlapping area.
  • The transformation of the decorative material is carried out under the action of water vapor. This is particularly useful in decorative materials made of wood or wood-like materials, the water vapor makes the wood material supple and allows high, possibly even spatially multiple curved degrees of deformation. For this purpose, at least one mold half is provided with at least one steam channel through which water vapor is supplied to the decorative material. The steam supply can begin even before the beginning of the closing process of both mold halves and takes place in particular during the closing, forming and trimming process.
  • The one or more steam channels are expediently arranged away from the hold-down device and in particular in a shaping region of pronounced curvature. The water vapor can be directed precisely to the places where there is a corresponding need for water vapor due to the high degree of deformation. At the same time, the use of superfluous amounts of steam is avoided. The wood material undergoes little humidification, which allows for further processing without excessive drying times.
