Abstract

Σε μία μέθοδο και συσκευή (10) για την απολύμανση αέρα σχηματίζεται μία μονοπολική ζώνη εκκένωσης στέμματος (26) μεταξύ ενός ιονίζοντος τμήματος (15) ενός πρώτου ηλεκτροδίου (14) και ενός μη ιονίζοντος δεύτερου ηλεκτροδίου (18) μέσω της εφαρμογής υψηλής τάσης DC (22', 22") δια μέσου του πρώτου και δεύτερου ηλεκτροδίου και τα μόρια νερού στη ροή αέρα (25) που μεταφέρονται δια μέσου της ζώνης εκκένωσης στέμματος μετατρέπονται σε μόρια υπεροξειδίου του υδρογόνου. Παράγεται ένα ηλεκτρικό πεδίο (27, 27', 27") δια μέσου της ροής αέρα πλησίον της ζώνης εκκένωσης στέμματος για να αποτρέπει να διαφύγουν τα ιόντα από τη ζώνη εκκένωσης στέμματος εντός της ατμόσφαιρας. Αυτό επιτρέπει να εφαρμόζεται ένα υψηλότερο ρεύμα εκκένωσης στέμματος από ό,τι θα επιτρεπόταν εάν μπορούσαν τα ιόντα να διαφύγουν εντός της ατμόσφαιρας, πράγμα που έχει ως αποτέλεσμα υψηλότερη απόδοση σε υπεροξείδιο του υδρογόνου και αυξάνει την αποτελεσματικότητα της απολύμανσης. Βοηθά επίσης στην αποτροπή της εναπόθεσης σκόνης επί του ιονίζοντος τμήματος (15).
