Abstract

Se proporcionan métodos y sistemas para tratar reducir el amoniaco parcialmente mediante un proceso de desnitrificación. Una corriente que contiene amoniaco se pone en contacto con oxígeno para formar una primera corriente de producto en bajas condiciones de oxígeno disuelto. El índice de oxígeno con nitrógeno es de aproximadamente 2.28 g de 02/g de N-NH3 (2.28 gramos de oxígeno por gramo de nitrógeno en amoniaco) o menos. La primera corriente de producto se expone luego a una materia orgánica en una cantidad de 0.57 g de CODI g de N-NH3 (0.57 gramos de demanda de oxígeno químico por gramo de nitrógeno en amoniaco). La reacción microbiana produce finalmente gas de nitrógeno, agua, y dióxido de carbono.
