Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a métodos y sistemas para tratar agua residual para remover simultáneamente nitrógeno, carbono, y fósforo. El procedimiento incluye un tanque anóxico que recibe al menos dos corrientes, incluyendo agua residual entrante de planta y lodo activado de retorno. Estas corrientes se mezclan en el tanque anóxico para promover la liberación de fósforo y fermentación de materia orgánica en partículas y disuelta. El licor mezclado se transfiere a un tanque aireado que tiene bajas concentraciones de oxígeno disuelto para promover el desarrollo de bacteria de liberación de fósforo que se recicla eventualmente al tanque anóxico a manera del lodo activado de retorno.
