Abstract

Un método para estabilizar un material carbonáceo térmicamentebeneficiado, el cual comprende:(a) alimentación de una carga del material carbonáceo - a una temperatura elevada - a un recipiente de procesamiento a fin de formar un lecho empacado;(b) enfriamiento del material carbonáceo presente en el lecho empacado, desde dicha temperatura elevada hasta una temperatura objetivo, por intercambio de calor indirecto;(c) antes de que el material carbonáceo alcance dicha temperatura objetivo, suministro de un gas que contiene oxígeno al lecho empacado con el fin de oxidar parcialmente el material carbonáceo al grado requerido para estabilizar dicho material carbonáceo; (d) remoción de calor del lecho empacado, el cual es producido por oxidación del material carbonáceo, con el fin de controlar la temperatura de dicho material carbonáceodurante la oxidación y evitar así el embalamiento térmico.
