Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a high concentration of CO2 by a simplified apparatus in which CaCO3 is thermally decomposed by a CO2-containing gas heated to a given temperature or more as a heat source.
CONSTITUTION: The CO2-containing gas 3 heated to 600°C or more, particularly 900°C or more, and the raw material CaCO3 1 are supplied to the decomposition process 7, and then CaO obtained from the decomposition of CaCO3 is recovered from the line 2, while the decomposed gas is drawn out of the line 4 for recovery. Said CO2-containing gas used contains 10vol% CO2 or more, preferably 20vol% or particularly 50vol% or more CO2. The CO2-containing gas for the thermal decomposition of CaCO3 is supplied to the hog air-manufacturing process 8 and then delivered to the process 7, and part of decomposition gas drawn out of the line 4 is recovered and the remaining decomposition gas is supplied to the process 8 preferably. Thus, almost 100vol% CO2 gas can be obtained.
