Abstract
一种高强度、超高弹性模量的碳纤维其特征在于其中存在着作为晶体三维有序标志的十字晶格线以及(100)、(101)衍射线的分离现象。该碳纤维的层间距(d002)为3.371~3.40,层厚为150~500,层尺寸(La110)为150~800。
Description
本发明涉及碳纤维,特别是在航天、汽车、建筑业中作为轻质结构材料广泛使用的高强度、超高弹性模量的碳纤维。
在此以前,在碳纤维中,广泛制造和使用的是PAN(聚丙烯腈)系列碳纤维。在PAN系列碳纤维中,虽然有的具有5.6GPa的极高强度,但其弹性膜量为290GPa,不怎么高,即使最近开发的高弹性型PAN系列碳纤维,其弹性模量也仅为490GPa的。这是由于PAN系列碳纤维不易石墨化从而使结晶化(石墨化性质)的提高有一定限度,这就是难于达到超高弹性模量的根本原因。
另外,在沥青系列碳纤维中,有些在2800℃烧制的石墨纤维,其强度为1.7~2.4GPa,弹性模量为520~830GPa(U.S.P.4005183),且实际上强度为2.2GPa、弹性模量为830GPa的超高弹性产品正在被开发利用(Pure & Appl.Chem.Vol57,N.11,1553(1985))。
但是,从上述可知这种具有超高弹性模量的制品强度低,而没有开发出强度为2.5GPa以上的制品。由于这种沥青系列的超高弹性石墨纤维强度低,即延伸率低,所以加工困难,特别是在制造复合材料时,就会产生大问题。
本发明人为了得到兼具超高弹性模量和高强度的高性能碳纤维,进行了专心的研究,在研究过程中发现,如果碳纤维具有一种特殊的晶体结构,就可以得到高强度,超高弹性模量的碳纤维,本发明就是基于这种新的发现而完成的。
本发明的目的是提供一种兼具超高弹性模量和高强度的高性能碳纤维。
本发明的另一个目的是提供易于加工,特别是易于制造复合材料的高强度、超高弹性模量碳纤维。
用本发明的高强度、超高弹性模量碳纤维就可以达到本发明的目的,简述之,本发明描述一种高强度、超高弹性模量碳纤维,该碳纤维的特征在于表示三维有序的(122)十字晶格线的存在及(100),(101)衍射线的分离现象,并且层间距(d002)为3.371~3.40A,层厚(Lc002)为150~500 最好为170~350 ,层尺寸(La110)为150~800 最好为200~450 。
本发明人在专心研究上述兼具高强度和超高弹性模量的高性能纤维的过程中,发现具有从来没有晶体结构特征的碳纤维可以兼具这两种性能。即,本发明人发现,具有表示结晶性良好且高规则结晶的三维有序构造,同时层间距(d002)比石墨纤维的层间距大,并且结晶尺寸适当的碳纤维。可以得到高强度和超高弹性模量。对于决定结晶的尺寸,层厚(Lc002)和层尺寸(La110)是重要的因素。还发现这些要素与上述层间距在适当范围内保持平衡是非常重要的。
下面对本发明的高强度、超高弹性模量碳纤维进行更为详细的说明。
众所周知,如碳纤维的结晶性好,则其弹性模量升高。用液晶沥青制作的结晶性极好的石墨纤维具有如上所述830GPa的超高弹性模量。但是,以前所有的碳纤维其强度都低于2.2GPa,这表明,仅仅结晶性好不可能得到兼聚高强度、超高弹性模量的高性能碳纤维。
本发明人仔细地研究了碳纤维的物性和其结构之间的关系,结果是要得到超高弹性模量,具有良好的结晶性是必要的。首先,必须具有作为结晶高规则性指标的三维有序结构,即表示三维有序的(112)十字晶格线以及(100)、(101)衍射线的分离现象的存在是基本的。进一步,要具有高强度,层间距要比石墨纤维的层间距大,并具有适当的数值,而且,结晶的尺寸最好是小而致密,但是,决定结晶大小的层厚(Lc002)和层尺寸(La110)和前述的层间距之间维持在一定的平衡状态是极为重要的。
也就是说,根据本发明人的研究结果,可以得知(1)层间距应为3.371~3.40 ,也就是要比石墨纤维的3.37 以下的层间距(通常为3.36~3.37 )为大,(2)层厚(Lc002)要为150~500 ,也就是要比石墨纤维的1000 以上的层厚(Lc002)要小,(3)层尺寸(La110)要为150~800 ,也就是要比石墨纤维的1000 以上的层尺寸(La110)要小。如果层间距(d002)、层厚(Lc002)及层尺寸(La110)在上述范围之外,即如果层间距(d002)大于3.40 ,层厚(Lc002)小于150 ,层尺寸(La110)小于150 ,则所得碳纤维的弹性模量会变坏。另一方面,如果在层间距(d002)小于3.371 ,层厚(Lc002)大于500 ,层尺寸(La110)大于800 的情况下,则很难得到具有是够强度的碳纤维。
简言之,如果将碳纤维的晶体结构调整到上述那样,即存在表示三维有序的(112)十字晶格线以及(100)、(101)衍射线的分离现象,层间距(d002)为3.371~3.40 ,层厚(Lc002)为150~500 ,最好为170~350 ,层尺寸(Lc110)为150~800 ,最好为200~450 ,那么就可以得到具有600GPa以上的超高弹性模量和2.5GPa以上的抗张强度的高强度、超高弹性模量的碳纤维。
本发明就是基于这些新的发现而完成的。
本发明人发现,该高强度、高弹性模量的碳纤维的制备是先将光学各向异性相占主要成分的碳质沥青喷丝,喷丝时,使用的是其内有导热性良好的插入部件的纺丝头,并将纺丝头中的熔融沥青温度变化,特别是温度下降限制在最小范围内。然后将得到的碳质沥青纤维在尽可能短的时间内(1小时以下)进行不熔性处理,接着在2400℃以上烧结。其中不熔性处理是在有空气、富氧空气(氧浓度为20~100%)、臭氧及二氧化氮等氧化性气体存在下进行的。
下面,通过实施例对本发明的高强度、超高弹性模量碳纤维进行说明。
在实施例中,对于碳纤维的特性,采用了下述的参数或测定方法。
层厚(Lc002)、层尺寸(La110)、层间距(d002)是用来表示通过广角X线衍射测定的碳纤维的精细结构的参数。
层厚(Lc002)表示碳微晶中的(002)面的表观层厚,层间距(d002)表示微晶(002)面的层间距。一般来说,层厚(Lc002)、层尺寸(La110)越大,层间距(d002)越小,则认为结晶性越好。
层厚(Lc002)、层尺寸(La110)、层间距(d002)是如下得到的。先将纤维在乳钵中粉碎,然后根据学振法的“人造石墨的晶格常数及微晶尺寸的测定法”,来进行测定、分析,并由下式求得。
La110=K /β′cosθ′
θ:由(002)衍射角2θ求得
β:通过修正求得的(002)衍射带的FWHM
θ′:由(110)的衍射角2θ求得
β′:通过修正求得的(110)衍射带的FWHM。
另外,(112)十字晶格线的存在及(100)、(101)衍射线的分离的判定,是用分段扫描法,在很大的范围内进行数小时的累积计算,测定,并用S/N比良好的光谱仪进行的。
实施例1
将含有50%光学各向异性相(AP)的碳质沥青作为前体沥青使用。将其在转筒有效容积为200ml的园筒型连续离心分离装置中,在保持转筒温度360℃下,以10000G的离心力,从AP排出口得到富含光学各向异性相的沥青。该光学各向异性相沥青含有99%以上的光学各向异性相,软化点为276℃。
然后,将得到的光学各向异性相沥青用纺丝口直径为0.3mm的熔融纺丝装置在340℃下纺丝。该纺丝装置和纺丝头的构造如图1-图3所示。
在纺丝装置10中,具有通过沥青管道(图中未表示出)注入熔融沥青(特别是光学各向异性沥青)的加热园筒12、使园筒12中的沥青加压的柱塞13以及装在加热园筒12的底面的纺丝头14。纺丝头14是由一个穿透孔喷丝口15、螺柱17和纺丝头压块18构成的,可在加热筒12的底面上自由装卸。被纺丝的沥青纤维通过纺丝筒19后,卷在烧线轴20上。
在本实施例中使用的纺丝头14中的喷丝口15,具有大直径的喷丝口导入部15a和与该导入部连通的小直径的喷丝口部15b。在15a和15b之间形成了切头园锥形的喷丝口过渡部15c。纺丝头14由不锈钢(SU S304)制成,纺丝口15部的厚度(T)为5mm。15a和15b的长度(T1)和(T2)分别为4mm及0.65mm。15a和15b的直径(D1)及(D2)分别为1mm和0.3mm。
另外,在喷丝口15的大直径导入部15a中,插有前述的导热率比纺丝头14大的铜制插入部件16。该插入部件16的一端16a接近15b的入口处。另一端16b从15a的入口处向外延伸。该插入部件16是棒状体,全长L为20mm,其直径(d)应使插入部件顺利地插入导入部15a,并且确保插入部件和导入部15a之间的空隙为1/100~5/100mm。
另外,在插入部件16的表面,为了保证引导熔融沥青流向15b。因而沿该插入部件的轴线方向开了4个半径(r)为0.15mm的园弧状沟18。
在上述结构的纺丝装置中纺丝熔融沥青时,可将通过纺丝头时的温度下降抑制在3℃以内。这样得到的沥青纤维在40%的富含氧空气气氛中(开始温度180℃,最终温度304℃,升温速度为6.2℃/分)进行不熔融性处理。
不熔融性处理完毕后,在氩气氛中升温速度为100℃/分和最终温度为2700℃的条件下进行碳化处理,得到直径约10μm的碳纤维。
通过X衍射,得出以下结果,在该碳纤维中,作为三维有序的标志,存在有(112)十字晶格线以及(100)、(101)衍射线的分离现象,层厚(Lc002)为220 ,层尺寸(La110)为240 ,层间距(d002)为3.391 。该纤维的弹性模量为774GPa,抗张强度为3.60GPa。
该碳纤维的取向角(ψ)为5.2°,拉曼测定的R值为0.13,高凯塞(Kayser)侧的峰值在1582cm处。
由于取向角表示对于结晶纤维轴向的选择取向的程度,所以这个角度越小,选择取向越好。取向角(ψ)最好为3~12°。当取向角大于12时,弹性模量变坏。如要使ψ小于3°,则需高温烧结,这在经济上是不合算的。
取向角ψ是这样测定的,即在纤维试料台上,在纤维束和计数管的扫描面垂直的状态下,扫描计数管,预求出(002)衍射带强度最大时的衍射角2θ(约26°),然后在计数管保持该位置的状态下,将试料台旋转360°,测定(002)衍射环的强度分布,FWHM,即在强度最大值的1/2处的宽度就是取向角ψ。
另外,用氩激光沿纤维轴的垂直方向照射纤维束,测定拉曼散射。碳纤维的拉曼谱通常在1580cm-1附近和1360cm附近形成二个谱带。1580cm-1附近的谱带是石墨结晶形成的,1360cm-1附近的谱带可能是由于缺陷等使石墨的六方晶格的对称性降低或丧失从而产生拉曼活性的缘故。因而,两个谱带的强度比I1360/I1580的值R用来作为结晶性的指标。可以认为R值越小,特别是纤维表层部的结晶性就越好。高凯塞侧的谱带(1580cm-1附近)的峰值的位置也是结晶性的指标,结晶性越好,石墨结晶的值越靠近1575cm-1处。
由拉曼测定得出的R值最好为0.05~0.30,高凯塞侧的谱带的峰值位置最好在1585cm-1以下。R值比0.30大时,弹性模量变坏,小于0.05时,难以得到足够的强度。高凯塞测的峰值的位置比1585cm-1大时,弹性模量变坏。
比较例1
步骤和实施例1一样,用的是同一的沥青,不同处是用没有插入部件的纺丝头在330℃下纺丝,得到的沥青纤维在和实施例1相同的条件下进行不溶融性处理和碳化,得到直径约为10μm的碳纤维。
该碳纤维的X线衍射结果,不能辨认出作为三维有序指标的(112)十字晶格线的存在以及(100)、(101)衍射线的分离,层厚(Lc002)为210 ,层尺寸(La110)为230 ,层间距(d002)为3.390 。该纤维的弹性模量为685GPa,抗张强度为2.37GPa。该纤维比实施例1的本发明的碳纤维要差。
比较例2
用和实施例1相同的沥青,相同的方法纺丝。除了碳化温度为2300℃外,在和实施例1相同和条件下将得到的碳纤维进行不融性处理和碳化,得到直径为10μm的碳纤维。
该碳纤维的X线衍射结果,没有看出作为三维有序指标的(112)十字晶格线的存在以及(100)、(101)衍射线的分离,层厚(Lc002)为120 ,层尺寸(La110)为110 、层间距(d002)为3.427 。该纤维的弹性模量为512GPa,抗张强度为3.32GPa。该纤维的性能比实施例1的本发明的碳纤维的性能要差。
比较例3
使用含约90%的光学各向异性相(AP)的碳质沥青作为前体沥青,将其放入一个转筒有效容积为200ml的园筒型连续离心分离装置中,在控制转筒温度360℃和离心力为10000G的条件下,从排出口得到富含光学各向异性相的沥青,其光学各向异性相的含量为99%以上,软化点为287℃。
将这样得到的沥青,用和实施例1相同,只是没有插入部件16部件的纺丝头在340℃下纺丝。然后,除碳化温度为3000℃外,在和实施例1相同的条件下进行不熔融性处理和碳化,得到直径为10μm的碳纤维。
本发明的具有特殊晶体结构的碳纤维,和先有技术的超高弹性模量的商品碳纤维相比,在具有同等超高弹性模量的同时,还具有高强度的特性,可非常有效地用于航天、汽车、建筑业的轻质结构材料。特别是本发明的超高弹性模量、高强度的碳纤维在制备复合材料时,不仅提高了复合材料最终产品的性能,而且在制造阶段,由于强度大(延伸大),所以制造时加工非常容易,制造效率可得到大幅度改善。
图1是用于制造本发明的碳纤维的纺丝设备的一个实施例的断面图。

Claims (5)
3、权利要求1或2所述的高强度、超高弹性模量碳纤维,其中取向角ψ为3~12℃。
4、权利要求1~3中任何一项所述的高强度、超高弹性模量碳纤维,其中由拉曼测定得出的R值为0.05~0.30,高凯塞侧的谱带的峰值位置在1585cm-1处或以下。
5、权利要求1~4中任何一项所述的高强度、超高弹性模量碳纤维,其中抗张强度在2.5GPa以上,弹性模量在600GPa以上。
