发明内容

以下将参阅附图对本发明的实施例作详细说明。图1示出无线终端装置10,它分别包括机壳10h以及第一和第二显示器20、30。装置10还可包括如图10所示的其它电子组件,包括印刷电路板40、收发器50和电池60。此外,装置10还可选地包括键盘75(图9)。第一显示器20还可为下面的第二显示器30提供保护阻挡层,每个显示器彼此靠近地装在机壳10h中。利用“Z”维度呈现数据可增加在相对有限周长或覆盖区中的可视区的量(通常为两倍大小)(不需要在“X和/或Y”维度上滑出或添加长度)。用户可使用自然光学聚焦调节到目标观看平面或焦点,以在显示器20、30中的任一个上或两个上观看所需的文本或视觉数据。
在某些具体实施例中,在多层显示器上Z空间维度上显示的数据可以配置为进行配合,以提供三维数据呈现。
两个显示器20、30可配置为毗邻或紧密相邻,但仍分隔开。可使两个显示器20、30的大小合适,并配置为彼此对准并基本上共同扩张(coextensive)。在其它实施例中,显示器20、30其中之一可比另一个(未示出)更长、更宽和/或更大(或更短、更窄或更小)。此外,显示器20、30可以基本上同样大小,但在侧面和/或上下并不对准,以致在“X”和/或“Y”维度上它们是偏移的(未示出)。此外,虽然示出的是两个(双层)显示器,但也可使用附加层中的附加显示器,只要焦距和光学可视性能使用户观看不同显示器上的数据即可。
再参阅图1,相对用户而言,第一显示器20具有第一焦距F1,而位于第一显示器20下面的第二显示器30具有更长的焦距F2。第一和第二显示器20、30能同时工作来呈现所需数据。例如,如图1所示,第一显示器20具有位于较靠近用户的第一观看表面,并呈现文本或视觉数据(示为标号为“1”的“第一层”),而下面的第二显示器30也呈现文本或视觉数据(示为标号为“2”的“第二层”),其中第二层数据呈现在距第一观看表面更远的距离处。这样,数据可以在至少两个不同的“Z”或深度维度上同时显示给用户。操作中,用户可以光学上移动或调节他/她的焦点,和/或选择性地观看任一或两个显示器上的数据,不需要任何硬件将数据移动到显示器20、30上的焦点之内。这样,例如,用户可以越过第一显示器20来观看和/或聚焦到由第二显示器30呈现的数据上。
在某些实施例中,第一显示器20可配置为足够的光学透明、半透明或透射,以便允许用户光学上透过第一显示器20观看第二显示器30上的数据。在具体实施例中,第一显示器20可以是半透明的,而第二显示器30可以是彩色图形显示器。例如,第一显示器20可基本上是透明的,其像素在操作期间(例如被激励时)变为半透明。第一显示器20可以是单色的,有向上和/或向下发光的像素,可显示文本(文字数字)数据或信息、消息、符号等。第一显示器20可配置有半透明和/或部分照明的像素,使用户能越过和/或透过激活的像素看到下面的显示器30。第一显示器20可以用可调节的像素照明工作。
第二显示器30可以是彩色(通常是全彩色)图形显示器,比第一显示器20具有增加的(通常是较“高”)分辨率。第二显示器30可呈现图像、图片、视频剪辑、菜单、程序图标以及文本数据。第二显示器30可以是1/8VGA显示器。第二显示器30可提供主要显示,并且是信息、选项、导航控制、状态定位器、电子邮件访问或定向跟踪等的主要载体。例如,第二显示器30可配置为包括标准操作界面台式数据格式,而第一显示器可配置为呈现具有相关和/或无关数据的较少数据(或较少杂乱)。
在某些实施例中,第一和第二显示器20、30可交互接合。这样,在某些实施例中,用户可在第一显示器20上(例如在主要面上外的上表面上)编辑/读和/或写或提取文本,并同时透过第一显示器20看下面第二显示器30,以观看菜单选项、下一/前一动作所得的图像等等。操作中,根据用户聚焦到哪个显示器上,一个显示器(提供信息层)在视觉上或光学上可感觉比另一个更活跃或占优势。利用双层显示器配置,用户可在视觉上移动焦点或选择目标观看区域,以在一个或多个显示器20、30上观看所需数据。
两个显示器20、30之间的交互或视觉配合可配置为提供三维特征,即:当选择第二层显示器30上菜单的一个项目时,图标或特征可在朝第一显示器20的“Z”方向上光学弹出,并且用户在视觉上感觉被激活、加亮了,和/或处于激活模式。
在具体实施例中,利用其中一个显示器检索、编辑、读、观看和发送数据也可独立进行,而不用交互式。
例如,第一显示器20可根据指示、要求和/或请求而激活,以与下面的显示器30通信,实现某些动作(通常是响应于和/或根据第二显示器30上的数据)。第一显示器20可从第二显示器30上的数据中提取数据,从而呈现第二显示器30上数据的子集。第一显示器20还可以或者备选地提供某些预定动作,例如显示文本数据、消息、某些动作的符号或图标(例如箭头、环形或其它标志性符号)。例如,如图2所示,用户可同时观看第一和第二显示器20、30(由透过上层显示器20向下到第二显示器30所画的眼睛视线所示)。第一显示器20可用于选择第二显示器30上数据的特征或像素来编辑、增强、放大、选择动作或图标、取消选择动作或图标等。第一和第二显示器20、30可以通信,以将在第一显示器20上所作的更新或输入和第二显示器30上的数据保存在一起。如所示,第一和/或显示器可包括一个“保存”栅格位置。第一显示器通过利用在第一显示器20上可显示的符号(环形、箭头等)“标记”对象,就可加亮在第二显示器30上可选的目标功能,以选择第二显示器30上的选项或对象。第一显示器20可用来放大第二显示器30上的文本/字体或图像,以改进可读性或清晰度。交互和/或单独显示操作的其它实例将在以下作进一步说明。
参阅图3,在某些实施例中,第一显示器20可提供“屏幕保护”模式。在具体实施例中,第一显示器20可配置为通过光学上阻碍视线透过第一显示器20而提供桌面安全“锁定”特征201。在锁定模式期间,第一显示器20可以变黑和/或照明基本上所有像素,以禁止观看第二显示器30上的数据(在此模式下第二显示器30可能是激活的)。第一显示器20可配置为不照明或仅部分地照明像素,以允许输入密码,或者可配置为接受用户的密码输入或“秘密”激活动作。在非有效间隔之后和/或在用户请求时,屏幕保护和/或锁定模式可自动实现。

在某些实施例中,装置10可配置为提供全球定位系统(GPS)的谐振,因为终端10可包括GPS接收器。GPS工作在大约1,575MHz。业界技术人员对GPS都已熟知。GPS是利用卫星和计算机的基于空间的三角测量系统,可测量地球上任何地方的位置。与其它基于地面的系统相比,GPS在其覆盖上较少受限,不论天气条件如何,通常都提供连续24小时的覆盖,而且高度精确。在当前的实现中,绕地球轨道运行的由24个卫星组成的卫星群连续发射GPS射频。如上所述的天线的附加谐振允许天线用于接收这些GPS信号。
显示器可配置为用触摸屏输入来工作。适用的软件和关联的位置栅格硬件以及操作结构对业界技术人员已周知。例如参见授予Rebane等人的题为“图形输入装置(Graphic Input Device)”的美国专利No.3,857,022;授予Bates等人的题为“动态触摸屏按钮调节机制(Dynamic Touchscreen Button Adjustment Mechanism)”的美国专利No.5,565,894。这些文件的内容已通过引用结合在本文内,就好像全部阐述了一样。在某些实施例中,无线通信装置10可在第一显示器20上包括触摸屏,以及键盘或小键盘输入75,如图9所示。小键盘75可以是附件项目,其可根据用户或OEM所需的设置添加或去除。备选地,小键盘75可安装在轻按构件(flip member)上,或配置为安装在第一显示器20上的机壳10h上。
在特定实施例中,可使显示器20、30的大小合适,并配置为覆盖由前主表面10f(图1)所定义的大部分区域。显示器20、30的大小可配置为扩张到覆盖前表面10f的大约75%或更多,通常为大约90%或更多。
以下参阅根据本发明实施例的方法、装置(系统)和/或计算机程序产品的框图和/或流程图对本发明的实施例加以说明。应理解,框图和/或流程图说明中的每个框,以及框图和/或流程图说明中的框组合,都可以用计算机程序指令来实现。这些计算机程序指令可提供到通用计算机、专用计算机和/或其它可编程数据处理装置的处理器上,以产生一种机器,以使通过计算机和/或其它可编程数据处理装置执行的指令创建用于实现框图和/或流程图框中所规定的功能/动作的手段。
这些计算机程序指令也可存储在能引导计算机或其它可编程数据处理装置以特定方式运行的计算机可读存储器中,以使存储在计算机可读存储器中的指令产生一种制造品,包括实现在框图和/或流程图框中所规定的功能/动作的指令。
计算机程序指令也可加载到计算机或其它可编程数据处理装置上,使在计算机或其它可编程装置上执行一系列操作步骤,产生一个计算机实现的过程,以使在计算机或其它可编程装置上执行的指令提供用于实现框图和/或流程图框中所规定的功能/动作的各个步骤。
还应指出,在一些备选实现中,方框中说明的功能/动作可以不按流程图所述的顺序进行。例如,图示为连续的两个方框实际上可基本同时执行,或者方框有时可以相反顺序执行,视所涉及的功能/动作而定。
图11是显示格式的示范实施例框图,它示出根据本发明实施例的系统、方法和/或计算机程序产品。如图所示,无线装置接收具有文本、音频和/或视觉数据的无线通信信号(框100)。该通信信号被引导为使部分通信信号数据呈现在具有第一焦距的第一显示器上(框120),并使至少部分通信信号呈现在无线装置中第一显示器下面的第二显示器上(框140)。通信信号可以是具有图像和文本数据的多媒体消息(框115),且文本数据可显示在上面的显示器上,而有关图像则同时显示在下面的第二显示器上(框142)。
图12是数据处理系统的示范实施例框图,它示出根据本发明实施例的系统、方法和/或计算机程序产品。处理器310通过地址/数据总线348与存储器314通信。处理器310可以是任何市售的或定制的微处理器。存储器314代表存储器装置的整个体系结构,含有用来实现数据处理系统305功能的软件和数据。存储器314可包括但不限于以下各类型器件:高速缓存、ROM、PROM、EPROM、EEPROM、闪存、SRAM和DRAM。
如图12所示,存储器314可包括数据处理系统305中所用的几种软件和数据:操作系统352;应用程序354;输入/输出(I/O)装置驱动器358;自动化双层显示器通信/交互呈现模块350,它引导两个显示器的交互和/或指示使用两个显示器中的哪一个来呈现所选数据;以及数据356。
数据356可包括输入和/或输出的通信信号数据362。业界技术人员会理解,操作系统352可以是适于和数据处理系统一起使用的任何操作系统,例如国际商业机器公司Armonk,NY的OS/2、AIX或OS/390,微软公司Redmond,WA的WindowsXP、WindowsCE、WindowsNT、Windows95、Windows98或Windows2000,Palm公司的PalmOS,苹果计算机公司的MacOS,UNIX、FreeBSD或Linux,例如用于嵌入式数据处理系统的专有操作系统或专用操作系统。
I/O装置驱动器358通常包括由应用程序354通过操作系统352访问的软件例程,以与诸如I/O数据端口、数据存储器356以及某些存储器314组件和/或图像获取系统320等装置进行通信。应用程序354说明实现数据处理系统305各种特征的程序,并优选包括至少一种支持根据本发明实施例的操作的应用程序。最后,数据356代表由应用程序354、操作系统352、I/O装置驱动器358以及可在存储器314中常驻的其它软件程序所用的静态和动态数据。
虽然例如参阅图12中作为应用程序的双层显示器模块350对本发明作了说明,但业界技术人员会理解,也可使用其它的配置,并仍可从本发明的内容中获益。例如,模块350也可结合到操作系统352中、I/O装置驱动器358中或数据处理系统305的其它这种逻辑划分中。所以,本发明不应被认为仅限于图12的配置,该配置旨在涵盖能够执行上述操作的任何配置。
I/O数据端口可用于在数据处理系统305和计算机网络320(例如内部网或因特网)或另一计算机或通信系统或处理器控制的其它装置之间传送信息。这些组件可以是常规组件,例如在许多常规数据处理系统中所用的组件,它们可根据本发明进行配置以进行上述操作。

Claims (42)
1.一种向显示系统提供文本和/或视觉数据的方法,包括:
在第一显示器上呈现文本和/或视觉数据;以及
在第一显示器下面的第二显示器上基本同时呈现文本和/或视觉数据,以使第二显示器比第一显示器距用户眼睛有更远的距离,并且其中操作中用户能够观看第一和/或第二显示器上的数据。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中将第一和第二显示器对准,以使所述用户能同时观看两个所述显示器上的数据,且其中所述用户通过光学上将他/她的焦点改变到对应于所需显示器的焦距就可聚焦在所述显示器之一上。
3.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中第一显示器上的数据包括文本数据,且其中第二显示器上的数据包括视觉数据。
4.如权利要求3所述的方法,其中所述视觉数据包括图像。
5.如权利要求4所述的方法,还包括产生MMS消息,所呈现的文本和图像来自所述MMS消息。
6.如权利要求1所述的方法,接收具有文本和视觉数据的MMS消息,并解析所述文本数据以呈现在第一显示器上,且解析所述视觉数据以呈现在第二显示器上。
7.如权利要求1所述的方法,还包括配置第一和第二显示器,以响应于所述用户的动作而交互通信。
8.如权利要求1所述的方法,还包括照明第一显示器上的像素,其方式为允许所述用户透过照明的像素观看到第二显示器。
9.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中第一显示器配置为在非有效使用期间操作在屏幕保护模式。
10.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中在第一和第二显示器上呈现视觉和/或文本数据的步骤包括在第一显示器上呈现文本,而在第二显示器上呈现有关所述文本的图像。
11.如权利要求10所述的方法,其中所述文本包括所关注地理位置的地图方向,且所述图像包括对应于所关注位置的地图。
12.如权利要求1所述的方法,还包括电锁定对装置的访问,这是通过如下方式实现的:在第一显示器上提供密码限制的访问入口区,并光学上阻碍第一显示器的其余部分,而第二显示器在其上承载文本和视觉数据,以禁止所述装置的未授权使用。
13.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中第二显示器提供视觉和文本数据,并且第一显示器适于选择性地呈现由第二显示器提供的所述数据的子集。
14.如权利要求3所述的方法,其中第一显示器提供的所述文本数据包括来自数字书或文章的数据,且其中第二显示器提供的所述视觉数据是来自所述数字书或文章的视频剪辑、图像和/或图片。
15.一种双层显示器部件,包括:
第一显示器;以及
第二显示器,靠近第一显示器并在其下面定位。
16.如权利要求15所述的部件,其中操作中第一显示器配置为利用有足够光学透射率和/或透明度的像素来提供文本和/或视觉数据,以允许用户光学上透过第一显示器观看到下面第二显示器上的文本和/或视觉数据。
17.如权利要求15所述的部件,其中第一显示器配置为基本上透明的显示器,而第二显示器配置为彩色图形显示器。
18.如权利要求15所述的部件,其中将第一和第二显示器对准并定位,以使第一和第二显示器基本上彼此共同扩张。
19.如权利要求15所述的部件,其中当使用中并相对于用户眼睛定位时,第二显示器具有的焦距比第一显示器的焦距长,并且其中操作中用户通过光学上移动他/她的焦点能够选择性地观看第一和/或第二显示器上的数据。
20.如权利要求15所述的部件,其中将第一和第二显示器对准,以使所述用户能同时观看两个所述显示器上的数据。
21.如权利要求15所述的部件,其中第一和第二显示器配置为响应于所述用户输入的动作而交互通信。
22.如权利要求15所述的部件,其中操作中第一显示器配置为照明像素,其方式为允许所述用户透过照明的像素观看以访问第二显示器上的数据。
23.如权利要求15所述的部件,其中第一显示器配置为在非有效使用期间操作在屏幕保护模式。
24.如权利要求15所述的部件,其中第一显示器配置为自动光学上阻碍透过它的可视性,以在不使用期间禁止外部观看第二显示器。
25.如权利要求15所述的部件,其中第一显示器配置为电锁定对第二显示器的访问,这是通过如下方式实现的:在第一显示器上提供密码限制的访问入口区,并光学上阻碍第一显示器的其余部分,而第二显示器在其上承载文本和视觉数据,以禁止装置的未授权使用。
26.如权利要求15所述的部件,还包括:
装第一和第二显示器的终端机壳;以及
所述机壳中的终端电路组件,提供计算机终端。
27.如权利要求15所述的部件,还包括:
装第一和第二显示器的便携式终端机壳;以及
所述机壳中的便携式终端电路组件,提供便携式计算机终端。
28.如权利要求15所述的部件,还包括:
装第一和第二显示器的无线终端机壳;以及
所述机壳中的无线终端电路组件,提供无线计算机终端。
29.一种无线终端,包括:
(a)机壳,配置为封装发射和接收无线通信信号的收发器;
(b)第一显示器,其与所述收发器通信,并装在所述机壳中,以使相应的第一观看表面在外部可观看到;以及
(c)第二显示器,其与所述收发器通信,并装在所述机壳中第一显示器的下面,以使相应的第二观看表面在外部可观看到,
其中所述无线终端配置为在第一和第二显示器上同时呈现数据。
30.如权利要求29所述的无线终端,其中从用户眼睛起测量,第二显示器比第一显示器具有更长的焦距,且其中操作中用户通过光学上移动他/她的焦点能选择性地观看第一和/或第二显示器上的数据。
31.如权利要求29所述的无线终端,其中第一和第二显示器配置为在操作期间彼此交互接合。
32.如权利要求29所述的无线终端,其中所述无线终端配置为检查输入的通信信号,并将所述信号解析为视觉和文本数据段,然后将选择的文本数据呈现在第一显示器上,并将视觉数据呈现在第二显示器上。
33.如权利要求32所述的无线终端,其中所述输入的通信信号包括具有至少一个图像和文本的MMS消息,并且其中所述无线终端配置为检查所述消息并引导所述信号,以使至少一些文本呈现在第一显示器上,而至少一个图像呈现在第二显示器上。
34.如权利要求29所述的无线终端,其中操作中第一显示器配置为利用有足够光学透射率和/或透明度的像素来提供文本和/或视觉数据,以允许用户光学上透过第一显示器观看到下面第二显示器上的文本和/或视觉数据。
35.如权利要求29所述的无线终端,其中将第一显示器配置为基本上透明的显示器,并将第二显示器配置为彩色图形显示器。
36.如权利要求35所述的无线终端,其中将第一和第二显示器对准并定位,以使第一和第二显示器基本上彼此共同扩张。
37.如权利要求29所述的无线终端,其中第一显示器配置为在非有效使用期间操作在屏幕保护模式。
38.如权利要求29所述的无线终端,其中第一显示器配置为自动光学上阻碍透过它的可视性,以在不使用期间禁止外部观看第二显示器。
39.如权利要求29所述的无线终端,其中第一显示器配置为电锁定对第二显示器的访问,这是通过如下方式实现的:在第一显示器上提供密码限制的访问入口区,并光学阻碍第一显示器的其余部分,而第二显示器在其上承载文本和视觉数据,以禁止装置的未授权使用。
40.一种用于选择性地显示文本或视觉数据的计算机程序产品,所述计算机程序产品包括计算机可用存储介质,在所述介质中具有实施的计算机可读程序代码,所述计算机可读程序代码包括:
配置为在无线终端中接收无线通信信号的计算机可读程序代码;
配置为引导第一显示器显示与所接收的无线通信信号相关联的文本和/或视觉数据的计算机可读程序代码;以及
配置为同时引导置于第一显示器下的第二显示器显示与所接收的无线通信信号相关联的文本和/或视觉数据的计算机可读程序代码。
41.如权利要求40所述的计算机程序产品,其中第一显示器是透明和/或半透明的显示器,且第二显示器是彩色图形显示器。
42.如权利要求40所述的计算机程序产品,还包括配置为在第一和第二显示器之间提供交互通信的计算机程序代码。
