LED驱动器
技术领域
本发明的技术领域是电源,尤其是LED的电源。
现有技术
白光发光二极管(LED)的技术已经有了重大的进步。在市场上可以得到产生10-15流明/瓦的白光LED。这可以和白炽灯泡的性能相比。而且,LED还有其它优点例如更长的工作时间、耐冲击/振动以及由于其小尺寸带来的结构灵活性。结果,白光LED正在代替传统的白炽光源以用于照明应用,例如标志、重点照明(accenting)和路灯。白LED可以单独使用或者为了特殊效果和彩色LED结合使用。
LED的电特性这样,使得施加给LED灯的电压的小变化引起值得重视的电流变化。而且,环境温度变化通过改变LED上正向压降(drop)也导致LED电流变化。而且,LED的流明输出决定于LED电流。已有的用于LED光源的电源没有设计成精确地调节LED电流以防止发光强度由于输入ac电压变化和环境温度而变化。LED灯长时间以过大(excessive)正向电流工作会引起无法接受的发光强度变化,而且甚至引起惨痛的失效。而且,现在的电源没有最小化功率损耗从而最大化能量节约。
发明内容
希望具有这样一种LED的电源,其可以克服上述缺陷。
本发明的一种形式是一种LED光源的电源,包括功率转换器和LED控制开关。运行功率转换器以提供包括LED电流和LED电压的调节功率。进一步运行LED控制开关以控制经过LED光源的LED电流的流动。LED控制开关进一步工作以在LED光源的初始加载阶段箝位的LED电流峰。这防止了由于场所滥用引起的LED光源损坏。

具体实施方式
图1示出用于给LED光源10供电的电源20的方框图,包括可变数量的串联和/或并联接线的LED。电源20的单相交流输入21给电源20的AC/DC转换器22提供电压VAC,因此AC/DC转换器22将电压VAC转换成VDC。AC/DC转换器22给电源20的功率转换器23提供电压VDC,因此功率转换器23产生包括LED电流和LED电压VLED的稳定功率PREG

图2示出用于根据本发明制造的LED光源10(图1)的一个实施例110的电源20(图1)的一个实施例120的示意图。电源120采用回扫变压器,该回扫变压器具有通过功率因子校正器(“PFC”)IC反馈到电源再到LED光源110的电流。最后,如图2所示,电源120包括EMI滤波器121、AC/DC转换器(“AC/DC”)122、变压器123、功率因子校正器124、反馈控制器125、光耦合器(optocoupler)126、LED控制开关127、LED PWM变光器129、电阻器R1-R7、电容器C1-C5、二极管D1-D3、齐纳二极管Z1-Z3和MOSFET Q1。
给电源120提供电压V1N到EMI滤波器121。该电压可以是交流输入,而且典型地是50/60赫兹、120/230VRMS。EMI滤波器121阻止对输入的电磁干扰。AC/DC122可以是桥式整流器,而且将EMI滤波器120的交流输出转变为直流。变压器123包括初级绕组W1、W4和W5,以及多个次级绕组W2和W3。绕组W1/W2构成回扫变压器,从而驱动LED光源110。回扫变压器由PFC124控制,该PFC124是功率因子校正器集成电路,例如由ST微电子股份有限公司制造的型号L6561。
回扫变压器给LED光源110传送功率,在LED光源110处,LED电流和LED电压通过反馈控制来控制。绕组W1/W3的正向转换器运行对电容器C3充电,而且在串联电阻器R4和齐纳二极管Z2之间产生参考电流信号。电容器C3上的峰值电压决定于W1/W3匝数比。来自绕组W1/W2回扫运行的输出的直流电压不能用于产生参考电流信号,因为LED光源110上的输出直流电压可以具有从一个LED灯的2.6伏直流电压到串联的8个LED的大约32伏的直流电压的宽范围。但是可以使用绕组W1/W3的正向转换器运行来代替。W1/W5绕组的正向转换器运行也可以用于给集成电路供电,例如PFC 124。
感应的LED电流ISE流过电阻器R1,该电阻器R1通过LED控制开关127与LED光源110串联。指示感应LED电流ISE的电压施加给比较器U1的非倒相输入。读出的LED电压VSE由齐纳二极管Z1产生。读出的LED电流ISE和读出的LED电压VSE以及电压参考VREF供应给反馈控制器125,因此反馈控制器125的电压反馈VFB通过电阻器R7驱动光耦合器126。在产生电压反馈VFB时,反馈控制器125采用一对比较器U1和U2、电阻器R8-R12以及电容器C6,如图2所示。
由于光耦合器126具有宽范围的电流传递比(CTR)所以必须有反馈控制器125。反馈控制器125维持精确的电压反馈VFB,因此避免流过LED光源110的LED电流发生大误差。光耦合器126将给LED光源110供电的直流电路与EMI滤波器120处的交流电路电源隔开,这两个电路在变压器123的相对侧。
光耦合器126的输出连接到PFC 124,该PFC 124给MOSFET Q1提供栅驱动信号。MOSFET Q1的控制调整流过变压器123的绕组W1的电流,以适应LED光源10的功率要求。PFC 124的内部2.5V参考信号和内部补偿电路在电阻器R6上保持2.5V的电压降。尽管这个例子使用MOSFET Q1来调整变压器电流,但是可选择的实施例可以使用其它类型的晶体管来调整该电流,例如绝缘栅双极晶体管(“IGBT”)或者双极晶体管。在ZCD处PFC 124的输入提供由绕组W2/W4驱动的复位信号。
齐纳二极管Z1还提供对LED光源110的过电压保护。具体而言,齐纳二极管Z1跨过输出连接连接到LED光源110,并且箝位输出电压到给定最高值。额定齐纳运行电压选择为正好高于最大给定输出电压。在输出开路电路的情况下,变压器123绕组W1/W2的回扫运行将持续,从而建立输出电压。一直上升的输出电压接通齐纳二极管Z1,因此提高通过电阻器R7和光耦合器126从反馈控制器125到电阻器R6的反馈量。这限制了到MOSFET Q1的栅驱动信号,防止回扫转换器对LED光源110建立的输出电压高于给定最大电压。同样,从复位绕组W4连接到电阻器R6的齐纳二极管Z3将防止由于反馈控制器125故障引起的输出过电压。在可选择的实施例中,根据特定应用所要求的控制保护程度,可以省略齐纳二极管Z1或者齐纳二极管Z3,或者省略齐纳二极管Z1和齐纳二极管Z3。
LED控制开关127包括MOSFET形式的开关SW1和双极晶体管形式的开关SW2。开关SW1和SW2可以是其它传统形式,例如IGBT。如图所示,MOSFET开关SW1的漏极连接到LED光源110。MOSFET开关SW1的栅极连接到双极开关SW2的集电极。MOSFET开关SW1的源极和双极开关SW2的基极连接到齐纳二极管Z1、电阻器R1和反馈控制器125。双极开关SW2的发射极接地。在运行时,当LED电流低于所需的峰值时,开关SW1接通,开关SW2断开。这种模式使得电源120的前端部件可以正常运行。相反,当LED电流超过所需的峰值时,开关SW1断开,开关SW2接通。这限制LED电流的峰值到安全水平,因此防止损坏LED光源110。本领域技术人员可以理解,LED控制开关127在连接LED光源110到供电电源120时尤其有用,其中电容器C2以峰值被箝位的电流释放储存的能量到LED光源110,从而防止损坏LED光源110。
MOSFET开关SW1可以通过传统的栅驱动器(未示出)或者通过所示的LED PWM变光器128来运行。
LED PWM变光器128根据外部变光指令VDC给MOSFET开关SW1提供PWM信号(未示出)。LED PWM变光器128调整PWM信号的占空因数,从而从LED光源110产生所需的光输出。LED PWM变光器128在为LED光源110产生精确和温敏最小变光电平时尤其有用。
LED PWM变光器128包括连接到MOSFET开关SW1的栅极的二极管D4和二极管D5。LED PWM变光器128的比较器U3是运算放大器的形式,其具有与二极管D4连接的输出和用于接收变光指令VDC的非倒相输入。LED PWM变光器128的传统非稳态多谐振荡器电路129连接到二极管D5。LED PWM变光器128的斜坡发生器包括与二极管D5连接的电阻器R16和MOSFET形式的晶体管Q2的栅极。晶体管Q2可以是其它形式,例如IGBT。该斜坡发生器进一步包括运算放大器U4。电阻器R15、电阻器R17、双极晶体管Q2的漏极、电容器C7和比较器U3的倒相输入连接到运算放大器U4的非倒相输入。电阻器R15进一步连接到运算放大器U4的输出。电阻器R13连接到运算放大器U4的输出和倒相输入。电阻器R14连接到运算放大器U4的倒相输入和接地。MOSFET晶体管Q2的源极和电容器C7接地。电阻器R17进一步连接到直流电压源。
运行时,LED PWM变光器128对LED光源110实现精确和温敏的最小变光电平。具体而言,非稳态多谐振荡器电路129产生最小脉冲宽度(例如图3所示的TON,MIN)。最小脉冲宽度的持续时间是非稳态多谐振荡器电路129的电阻和电容的函数。因此,该最小脉冲宽度是精确而且温敏的。斜坡发生器产生斜坡信号(例如图3所示的RS),该斜坡信号通过该最小脉冲宽度周期性地复位。该斜坡信号提供给比较器U3的倒相输入,因此斜坡信号和变光指令VDC的比较在比较器U3的输出处产生目标脉冲宽度(例如图3所示的TON)。最小脉冲宽度和目标脉冲宽度组合,以在MOSFET开关SW1的栅极提供PWM信号。这样,当变光指令VDC超过或者等于斜坡信号时,PWM信号由与最小脉冲宽度重叠的目标脉冲宽度组成。相反,当斜坡信号超过电压变光指令VDC时,PWM信号专门由最小脉冲宽度组成。
实践中,电压变光指令VDC合适的范围是0到10伏。
                   短路/开路检测
图4示出短路/开路检测电路130的一个实施例。LED光源110上的LED电压降VLD施加在节点N1和节点N2之间,而且输入电压VIN施加在节点N2和公共参考之间。当LED光源110(图2)短路时,LED电压降VLD接近于零(0),当LED光源110开路时,电压降VLD接近于稳定功率PREG(图1)的LED电压VLED。输入电压VIN典型地在六(6)伏到十六(16)伏的范围内。运算放大器形式的比较器U3提供高电平下的检测信号VDS以指示LED光源110的“LED断供”状态,提供低电平下的检测信号VDS以指示LED光源110的正常运行。“LED断供”状态是LED光源110短路或者开路的指示。
在所示的实施例中的输入电压VIN是直流电压。因此可以使用直流到直流型功率转换器来给LED光源110(图2)供电。在可选择的实施例中,可以将检测电路130调整为用于交流到直流型功率转换器。
双极晶体管形式的晶体管Q3的发射极和齐纳二极管Z4也连接到节点N1。晶体管Q3可以是其它传统形式,例如IGBT。电阻器R18、电阻器R21和电阻器R22也连接到节点N2。双极晶体管Q3的基极连接到电阻器R18。齐纳二极管Z4、电阻器R20和电阻器R21连接到比较器U5的倒相输入。双极晶体管Q3的集电极、二极管D6和电阻器R19连接到节点N3。电阻器R19和电阻器R20进一步连接到公共参考。二极管D6和电阻器R22连接到比较器U5的非倒相输入。
对于LED光源110的正常运行,LED电压降VLD大于晶体管Q3的基极-发射极结电压,因此晶体管Q3接通,二极管D6处于非导通状态,而且晶体管Q3的集电极处的电压超过输入电压VIN。结果,输入电压VIN施加给比较器U3的倒相输入。选择齐纳二极管Z4的导通电压高于LED电压降VLD,因此齐纳二极管Z4处于非导通状态。结果,施加给比较器U2的非倒相输入的电压将等于被电阻器R20和电阻器R21确立的分压系数降低的输入电压VIN。比较器U5的输出由于施加给倒相输入的电压高于施加给非倒相输入的电压而较低(例如接近地电压)。
对于LED光源110的开路排列状态,LED电压降VLD接近于稳定功率PRFG的LED电压VLED,选择该LED电压VLED高于齐纳二极管Z4的电压。LED电压降VLD大于晶体管Q3的基极-发射极结电压,因此晶体管Q3接通,而且晶体管Q3集电极的电压高于输入电压VIN。结果,输入电压VIN施加给比较器U3的倒相输入。齐纳二极管Z4的导通电压低于LED电压降VLD,因此齐纳二极管Z4处于导通状态。结果,施加给比较器U5的非倒相输入的电压将等于输入电压VIN和LED电压降VLD的总和减去二极管D6的导通电压。比较器U5的输出由于施加给非倒相输入的电压高于施加给倒相输入的电压而较高(例如接近输入电压VIN)。
对于LED光源110的短路排列状态,LED电压降VLD接近于零(0)伏。因此,LED电压降VLD小于晶体管Q3的基极-发射极结电压,因此晶体管Q3断开,晶体管集电极的电压被电阻器R19降低,而且二极管D6导通。结果,施加给比较器U5的倒相输入的电压将等于被电阻器R19和电阻器R22确立的分压系数降低的输入电压VIN。齐纳二极管Z4的导通电压高于LED电压降VLD,因此齐纳二极管Z4处于非导通状态。比较器U5的输出由于施加给非倒相输入的电压高于施加给倒相输入的电压而较高(例如接近输入电压VIN)。
在可选择的实施例中,可以在晶体管Q3的发射极路径中插入附加的齐纳二极管或者电压参考,来检测除了低于晶体管Q3的基极一发射极结电压之外的电压值。
图5示出具有电压输出V0、可以应用在LED电流传感器25(图1)或者LED电流传感器26(图1)中的差分放大电路。电阻器R23和电阻器R25连接到补偿电压源VOFF。电阻器R25、电阻器R26和电阻器R28连接到运算放大器U6的倒相输入。电阻器R24和电阻器R27连接到运算放大器U6的非倒相输入。电阻器R23和电阻器R24连接。电阻器R28进一步连接到运算放大器U6的输出。

用于调整所述差分放大器的增益的装置。
14、一种运行LED光源(10)的方法,所述方法包括:
给LED光源(10)提供稳定功率,该稳定功率包括LED电流和LED电压;
控制流过该LED电源(10)的LED电流的流动;和
箝位在LED光源(10)的初始加载阶段期间的LED电流峰。
15、权利要求14的方法,还包括:
产生指示与LED电压相关的LED光源(10)的运行状态的检测信号,
其中该检测信号具有第一电平,指示该LED光源(10)的正常运行状态,和
其中该检测信号具有第二电平,指示该LED光源(10)的短路运行状态或者开路运行状态。
