发明领域
本发明涉及容器用标签,更具体的是涂粘合剂的薄膜标签。
发明背景
印刷标签广泛用在容器上来标识与容器中所含产品相关的具体产品、制造商以及商标名称。传统的纸标签已广泛应用了许多年,然而纸标签有几个缺点,例如易于磨损,在潮湿或湿气条件中粘合性差。一种越来越流行的在容器上贴标签的方法就是使用预印刷薄膜标签。薄膜标签由聚合物材料卷材制备,聚合物材料上印刷有所需标记,采用胶粘剂将薄膜标签贴到容器上。这些薄膜标签能为它们所贴的容器提供印刷外观,并且结果是标签一般比常用的纸标签更为耐久。薄膜标签通常是由聚合物材料卷材冲切而得到的离散标签形状,并且经常提供在载体材料卷材如剥离衬里上。
我们希望能用尽可能薄的薄膜来制备薄膜标签。较薄的薄膜能增加标签的美观、降低整个材料成本并提高贴标签过程的效率。例如,随着薄膜厚度的减小,在要绕成给定尺寸卷筒的一定长度的剥离衬里上就能提供更多的标签。常用的薄膜标签厚度一般在2至3密耳之间或者更大。一直都希望能将薄膜标签的厚度减小至约小于1密耳。然而,以前对于在生产环境中生产及施加厚度小于1密耳的薄膜标签所进行的尝试迄今尚未成功。
虽然薄膜标签是合乎需要的,但它们也产生了一些问题,尤其是在标签的生产及将标签贴到它们各自的容器上产生了问题。很薄的标签刚度相对较低,因此从传统的剥离端设备分送厚度约为1密耳或更薄的薄膜标签一直都不成功。更薄的标签同时还给自动贴标签过程带来了耐久性问题。用来给需要贴标签的容器包装的自动加工设备经常以高速运转,而标签必须以与加工设备相近的速率施加到容器上。这种高速施加要求经常会导致薄膜标签在施加过程中拉伸或裂开。标签原料采用很薄的薄膜也使得在不切开剥离衬里的载体卷材情况下很难从薄膜原料卷材上冲切各个标签。
因此,我们需要一种很薄的薄膜标签,这种标签可以在高速生产线上贴到容器上,同时克服了如上所述的现有技术薄膜标签存在的问题。
发明概述
本发明提供了一种厚度在0.1密耳至1.0密耳的薄膜标签,该标签可以贴到基材如玻璃或塑料瓶或者其它容器上。该标签可以采用传统的剥离端设备,以生产线的速度分送到所需要的容器上而不会损坏标签。可以由聚合物材料卷材冲切得到标签,标签薄膜一侧含有用来将标签粘合到基材上的胶粘剂。
本发明的一方面,可以在剥离材料卷材上提供多个标签以便于在包装生产线中分送标签。已经发现,在很薄的薄膜标签上采用低剥离值会导致通过在标签上施涂图形油墨使标签“硬化”后从剥离端分送标签。胶粘剂的剥离值与衬里材料卷材的张力和速度一起作用,在衬里卷材经过剥离端时将薄膜标签分送到基材上。
本发明的另一方面,可以由薄膜的细长卷材、剥离衬里卷材以及位于薄膜及剥离衬里之间的胶粘剂形成层压材料制成示例薄膜标签。将可见标记施加到薄膜上,冲切薄膜得到离散的标签形状以及废膜基体。将基体从层压材料上剥离,在剥离衬里卷材上留下离散的薄膜标签。

详细说明
参考图1及图2,图中所示是本发明典型涂粘合剂的薄膜标签10。标签10包括厚度约为0.1密耳至1.0密耳的很薄的标签薄膜。将标签冲切得到所需形状,标签进一步包括选择性施加到标签薄膜12上形成字母、数字、装饰图案或它们的组合的标记14,16。可见标记14,16可以通过在标签薄膜12上施涂油墨、烫印箔、压印图像得到。
在图1所示典型标签中,标签包括构成背景的不透明印刷区域18以及印刷在背景上部的装饰图案16及标记14。背景18不覆盖整个标签表面,因此标签10具有一个仅包含标签薄膜12的边界20。在典型实例中,标签口是透明的,然而,标签薄膜12可以制成具有任何所需颜色。例如,标签薄膜12可制成具有不透明的白色,使其看起来像纸标签,同时又保留了薄膜标签的优点。
标签10还包括施涂在标签薄膜12的一面的胶粘剂22,以将标签10固定在基材如容器上。胶粘剂22可以是压敏胶粘剂、热活化胶粘剂、水活化胶粘剂或者其它任何类型的适用在基材上固定标签的胶粘剂。在典型实例中,粘合剂22是压敏丙烯酸粘合剂。另一个典型实例中,采用TMI剥离测试仪根据修改的FINAT测试方法测试,胶粘剂22的剥离值不大于15g,该测试方法中,将两英寸宽的样品以每分钟1200英寸的速率拉过180度角。这一剥离值要低于这类标签常用的剥离值。可见标记14,16可以施加到标签薄膜12的任何一面得到所需要的效果。例如,可见标记14,16可以作为反像施加在标签薄膜12上与施加胶粘剂22相同的一侧,从而就可以在标签10贴到容器上后通过标签薄膜12观看图像。
在一个典型实例中,薄膜标签10进一步包括施加到标签薄膜12的胶粘剂面上的剥离衬里24。剥离衬里24保护胶粘剂22并防止胶粘剂在贴到所需容器上之前过早粘合。剥离衬里24可以是任何合适材料,例如聚酯膜,其厚度一般约为1.0密耳。典型实例中,剥离衬里24是厚度为0.7密耳的聚酯膜。可以将剥离衬里24放在承载几个单独的薄膜标签10的细长卷材上。如图3所示,通常可以将剥离衬里24的细长卷材绕成卷筒30以方便储存及分送薄膜标签10。
有利的是,本发明的薄膜标签10厚度可以比现在使用的常用薄膜标签小得多。溶胀薄膜标签厚度一般大于1.0密耳,典型的为2.0密耳或以上。本发明的薄标签的优点在于,能增进使用该标签的容器的美观,提高标签的耐久性。而且,因为标签薄膜12要比以前的薄膜标签薄,在给定尺寸的标签卷筒30上可以提供更多的标签10。因此,当用于常用的贴标签装置时,卷筒30所需要的更换次数较少,因此提高了生产效率。
标签薄膜12包括聚合物材料如聚丙烯、聚乙烯、PVC或者其它合适的聚合物材料的卷材。典型实例中,标签薄膜12由双轴取向聚丙烯制成。
通过将胶粘剂22施涂到衬里材料24的细长卷材上,将厚度约在0.1密耳与1.0密耳之间的标签薄膜12施加到衬里24及胶粘剂22上形成层压材料,选择地将可见标记14,16施加到标签薄膜12上,冲切标签薄膜12得到离散的标签10及废料基体,并从层压材料上剥除废料基体使得衬里材料24上仅留离散的标签10,可以制备本发明典型薄膜标签10。
参见图4,现在说明将薄膜标签10贴到基材如容器32上的典型方法。在卷成卷筒30的衬里材料卷材24上至少提供一个薄膜标签10。将衬里材料卷材24在剥离端34上移动,使衬里材料24弯曲,因此使标签10与衬里材料24分离而不会撕破标签10。在典型实例中,卷筒30由第一个马达(未显示)驱动,卷取筒36由第二个马达驱动(未显示)来使衬里材料卷材24移动经过剥离端34,同时控制卷材的张力和速度使得标签10通过剥离端34时超过胶粘剂22的剥离值。另外,可以在剥离端34两侧使用辊来控制衬里材料卷材24的路径以及/或者张力及速率。
在剥离端34附近放置容器32以便在标签10从衬里材料卷材24分送时接受标签10。控制容器32相对于移动卷材的移动速度使得容器32移动略快于分送的标签10。将擦拭器35放置在靠近剥离端34的地方,在标签施加到容器32上之后擦拭标签10以确保标签10和容器32之间没有夹带空气。将用过的剥离衬里24缠绕在卷取筒36上。
现在将讨论本发明很薄的薄膜胶粘剂标签并将标签贴在玻璃瓶上的具体实施例。
实施例1:
在Spear 5000型贴标签机上以约265瓶/分钟的速率将1密耳厚的标签贴到玻璃瓶上。测试了两种由FLEXcon Corp.,Spencer,Massachusetts制备的标签结构体:
A组:带有A-45型乳液丙烯酸胶粘剂的1.0密耳厚的聚丙烯薄膜以及1.5密耳厚的聚对苯二甲酸乙二酯(PET)剥离衬里;
B组:带有A-45型乳液丙烯酸胶粘剂的1.0密耳厚的聚丙烯薄膜以及2.0密耳厚PET剥离衬里;
使用贴标签机将每种结构体的1800种样品贴到玻璃瓶上。A组中6个标签除外,B组中11个标签除外,其余都成功的分送到瓶子上。
实施例2:
在Krones Autocol贴标签机上以约265瓶/分钟的速率将1密耳厚的标签贴到玻璃瓶上。测试了两种由FLEXcon Corp.,Spencer,Massachusetts制备的标签结构体:
A组:带有A-34型溶剂型丙烯酸胶粘剂的1.0密耳厚的聚丙烯薄膜(Mobil 434)以及1.0密耳厚PET剥离衬里;
B组:带有A-32型溶剂型丙烯酸胶粘剂的1.0密耳厚的聚丙烯薄膜(Mobil 434)以及1.0密耳厚PET剥离衬里。
标签分送到瓶子上后,采用擦拭机构擦拭标签。擦拭机构包括一个直径为1.5英寸的软泡沫材料辊,一个9英寸的有Teflon涂层的软泡沫材料垫以及带有长塑料硬毛的刷子。通过削尖剥离端的顶端修改剥离端,使其端半径约达到1/64英寸,调节剥离端的顶端位置使卷材围绕顶端形成锐角。将每组的1000个标签贴到玻璃瓶上。所有标签都良好地分送到瓶子上。贴A组标签的瓶子中,有25%至30%的瓶子观察到微小的标签褶皱。贴B组标签的瓶子中,约有5%的瓶子观察到微小的标签褶皱。
实施例3:
在Kosme 960贴标签机上将0.7密耳厚的标签贴到玻璃瓶上。标签包括带有A-32型溶剂型丙烯酸胶粘剂的0.7密耳厚聚丙烯膜(Mobil 434)及1.0密耳厚的由FLEXcon Corp.,Spencer,Massachusetts制备的PET剥离衬里。观察到所有标签都能良好地贴到瓶子上,而且确定,在以生产速度运行时,仅需擦拭器作出轻微变化。
如上述实施例所述,已经证实,本发明的厚度1密耳或者更小的很薄的薄膜标签能通过自动装置,以与自动包装及装瓶设备相一致的线速度分送到容器上。因此,本发明克服了现有薄膜标签技术领域中迄今不能良好地将厚度减少至1密耳或者更小的标签分送到容器如瓶子上的缺点。而且,本发明的标签能成功地分送到瓶子上而不会撕裂或者以其它方式改变标签的外观。
虽然上述的结果与早期技术的标签相比是有显著的进步,本领域的技术人员可以认识到,通过进一步调节自动贴标签装置,有可能提高贴标签速度、减少褶皱并减少没有分送的标签的数量。这类调节通常由操作者在设备运行时进行,这说明不同标签的将性变化以及经常发生的设备参数的变动。

Claims (27)

1.一种涂粘合剂的薄膜标签,其包括:
厚度约为0.1密耳至1.0密耳,带有第一表面及与所述第一表面相反的第二表面的标签薄膜,将标签薄膜冲切得到标签形状;
位于所述标签薄膜的所述第一及第二表面之一上的胶粘剂;
选择性位于所述第一表面及第二表面中至少一个表面上的构成可见标签图像的可见标记。
2.如权利要求1所述的涂粘合剂的薄膜标签,其特征在于,所述胶粘剂是压敏丙烯酸胶粘剂。
3.如权利要求1所述的涂粘合剂的薄膜标签,其特征在于,胶粘剂的剥离值不大于约15克。
4.如权利要求1所述的涂粘合剂的薄膜标签,其特征在于,标签薄膜的厚度至少约为0.3密耳,且不超过约0.9密耳。

9.如权利要求8所述的涂粘合剂的薄膜标签,其特征在于,所述衬里的厚度至少约为0.1密耳,且不超过约1.0密耳。
10.如权利要求8所述的涂粘合剂的薄膜标签,其特征在于,所述衬里的厚度至少约为0.3密耳,且不超过约0.9密耳。
11.如权利要求8所述的涂粘合剂的薄膜标签,其特征在于,所述衬里的厚度约为0.7密耳;
12.一种薄膜标签产品,其包括:
用来承载标签的细长的衬里材料卷材;
许多离散的可剥离地放置在所述衬里材料上的冲切标签,标签厚度约在0.1密耳至1.0密耳之间,每个标签带有第一表面及与所述第一表面相反的第二表面;
位于所述许多标签的所述第一表面及第二表面之一、位于所述标签及所述衬里材料之间的胶粘剂;
选择性位于所述第一表面及第二表面中至少一个表面上的构成可见标签图像的可见标记。
13.如权利要求12所述的薄膜标签产品,其特征在于,所述标签的厚度至少约为0.1密耳,且不超过约0.9密耳。
14.如权利要求12所述的薄膜标签产品,其特征在于,所述标签的厚度至少约为0.3密耳,且不超过约0.8密耳。

16.一种贴标签的产品包装,其包括:
带有接受标签的表面的容器;
贴在所述表面上的标签,所述标签包括:
厚度约在0.1密耳至1.0密耳之间的标签薄膜,其中,将所述标签薄膜冲切得到标签形状,标签薄膜带有第一表面及与所述第一表面相反的第二表面;
位于所述标签薄膜的所述第一表面及第二表面之一的胶粘剂;
选择性位于所述第一表面及第二表面中的至少一个表面上的构成可见标签图像的可见标记。

20.如权利要求16所述的贴标签产品包装,其特征在于,所述标记包含油墨。
21.如权利要求16所述的贴标签产品包装,其特征在于,所述标记包含烫印箔。
22.如权利要求16所述的贴标签产品包装,其特征在于,所述标记压印在所述第一表面及第二表面中的至少一个表面上。
23.一种制备薄膜标签的方法,其包括:
将胶粘剂施涂到衬里材料的细长卷材上;
在衬里和胶粘剂上施加厚度约在0.1密耳与1.0密耳之间的标签薄膜形成层压材料;
在标签薄膜上选择性施加标记;
冲切标签薄膜得到离散标签及废料基体;
从层压材料上剥离废料基体,使得衬里材料上仅留离散的标签。
24.如权利要求23所述的方法,其特征在于,施加标记的步骤是通过在标签薄膜上涂覆油墨完成的。
25.如权利要求23所述的方法,施加标记的步骤是通过压印标签薄膜完成的。
26.如权利要求23所述的方法,施加标记的步骤是通过在标签薄膜上烫印箔完成的。
27.一种将薄膜标签贴到基材上的方法,其包括:
在衬里材料卷材上提供至少一个薄膜标签,标签由厚度约小于1.0密耳的标签薄膜形成;
通过从剥离端的第一侧拉卷材,使衬里材料卷材在用来从衬里材料卷材分送标签的剥离端上移动;
从剥离端的与第一侧相反的第二侧驱动卷材经过剥离端,以控制卷材的张力;
将基材邻近剥离端放置,以便在衬里材料经过剥离端时接受从衬里材料卷材上分送的标签;
控制基材相对于移动卷材的移动速度,使得基材的移动快于分送的标签的移动;
基材接受标签后擦拭标签除去标签和基材之间可能夹带的空气。
