Abstract
本发明公开了一种有机场致发光模块。该有机场致发光模块包括多个扫描线、多个垂直于该多个扫描线的数据线、多个位于该多个扫描线和该多个数据线的交叉区域的发光二极管、一个具有分别连接于该多个扫描线的反向电压施加晶体管和接地电压施加晶体管的扫描驱动器、一个具有分别连接于该多个数据线的静电流源和接地电压施加晶体管的数据驱动器、以及一个用于控制扫描驱动器和数据驱动器的驱动器控制器。通过施加反向电压可以容易地去除有机EL模块中的杂质。从而,可以延长有机EL模块的使用寿命并提高图象质量。

本申请要求2002年5月9日提交的韩国申请P2002-25559的权益,该申请作为参考包含于本文。
技术领域
本发明涉及一种有机场致发光(EL)模块,其中在完成有机EL模块的制造的状态下可以实施老化处理(aging)。
背景技术
近来,趋向于将EL装置用做未来的自发光平板显示器。在EL装置中,不同于无机EL装置,有机EL装置不需要AC或高电压。而且,有机EL装置相对较为容易提供各种色彩,由于具有各种有机化合物。
近来,开始了对有机EL显示器应用于全彩显示等的研究。特别是,正在研发即使在低电压下也具有高亮度的结构。
无机EL装置具有场激励型光发射。不同于此,有机EL装置具有所谓的载流子注入型光发射,其中当空穴从阳极注入以及电子从阴极注入时发射光。从这两个电极注入的正载流子和负载流子向相对的电极移动,当它们耦合时,形成激子。当激子慢化时发射的光是来自有机EL装置的光发射。
有机EL装置中的故障问题非常重要。尤其是,由于诸如基片微粒的杂质而在阳极和阴极产生的短路问题以及基片清洁问题非常重要。
为了预先消除这种基片问题,尽管在制造时基片经受老化处理或烧制,但是不能完全去除微粒。
作为解决这种问题的另一种方法,通过在制造有机EL模块的状态下老化处理来消除短路。但是,随着时间推移因微粒导致的短路仍然是有缺陷的模块的起因。
这样,需要在模块状态下老化处理以解决这种问题。
发明内容
因此,本发明涉及一种有机场致发光(EL)模块以及一种老化处理该有机EL模块的方法,它基本上消除了由于相关技术的局限性和缺点所引起的一个或多个问题。
本发明的一个目的在于提供一种有机场致发光(EL)模块以及一种老化处理该有机EL模块的方法,其中在完成有机EL模块的制造的状态下可以实施老化处理。
本发明的其他特征和优点将在下面的说明中提出,并且一部分将从说明中明了,或者通过本发明的实施获知。本发明的目的和其他优点将通过说明书和权利要求以及附图得以实现和获得。
为了这些和其他优点并根据本发明的目的,如所具体实施和宽泛说明的那样,有机EL模块包括多个扫描线、多个垂直于该多个扫描线的数据线、多个位于该多个扫描线和该多个数据线的交叉区域的发光二极管、一个具有分别连接于该多个扫描线的反向电压施加晶体管和接地电压施加晶体管的扫描驱动器、一个具有分别连接于该多个数据线的静电流源和接地电压施加晶体管的数据驱动器、以及一个用于控制扫描驱动器和数据驱动器的驱动器控制器。
驱动器控制器开启数据驱动器中的至少一个接地电压施加晶体管以使得相关的数据线接地,并且与此同时,驱动器控制器开启扫描驱动器中的至少一个反向电压施加晶体管用于向相关的扫描线施加反向电压。
反向电压施加晶体管和接地电压施加晶体管的开启操作可以按照预定的波形周期性地进行。
该波形可以是脉冲波或者正弦波。
反向电压施加晶体管和接地电压施加晶体管的开启操作可以按照预置在驱动器控制器上的引线的状态进行。
扫描驱动器的反向电压施加晶体管可以施加一定的电流,消除由有机场致发光基板的杂质引起的电异常。
在本发明的另一方面,提供一种老化处理有机EL模块的方法,其中该有机EL模块包括一个具有分别连接于多个扫描线的反向电压施加晶体管和接地电压施加晶体管的扫描驱动器、一个具有静电流源和接地电压施加晶体管的数据驱动器、以及一个用于控制扫描驱动器和数据驱动器的驱动器控制器,所述方法包括如下步骤:开启数据驱动器中的至少一个接地电压施加晶体管以向相关的数据线施加接地电压,以及开启扫描驱动器中的至少一个反向电压施加晶体管用于向相关的扫描线施加反向电压。
应当理解上述一般性说明和以下的详细说明都是示例性和解释性的并旨在提供如权利要求所述的的本发明的进一步解释。

具体实施方式
现在详细参照本发明的优选实施例,其示例表示在图1中,该图示意性地示出本发明的一个优选实施例的有机EL模块的电路。
参照图1,有机EL模块包括多个扫描线11、多个数据线13、多个发光二极管19、一个扫描驱动器15、以及一个数据驱动器17。尽管没有示出,但是有机EL模块还包括一个用于控制扫描驱动器15和数据驱动器17的驱动器控制器。
发光二极管19位于该多个扫描线11和该多个数据线13的每个交叉区域。
扫描驱动器15包括分别连接于该多个扫描线11的反向电压施加晶体管21和接地电压施加晶体管23。数据驱动器17包括分别连接于该多个数据线13的接地电压施加晶体管27和静电流源25。
扫描驱动器15和数据驱动器17连接于电源Vpp和Vdd用于向扫描线11和数据线13提供信号。
特别地,驱动器控制器开启扫描驱动器15中的至少一个反向电压施加晶体管21用于从电源Vpp向相关的扫描线11施加低于击穿电压的高反向电压。与此同时,驱动器控制器开启数据驱动器17中的至少一个接地电压施加晶体管27以使得相关的数据线13接地。由此,发光二极管19可以具有施加于之的高反向电压。
这样,本发明的有机EL模块包括具有连接于多个扫描线11的反向电压施加晶体管21和接地电压施加晶体管23的扫描驱动器15,以及具有连接于多个数据线13的接地电压施加晶体管27和静电流源25的数据驱动器。
上述有机EL模块如下所述显示图象。
在常规操作中,对于每桢的一个固定时间周期,扫描驱动器15开启接地电压施加晶体管23并向将被驱动的扫描线11施加接地电压,并且开启反向电压施加晶体管21并向不被驱动的扫描线11施加反向电压Vpp。
与此同时,对于每桢的一个固定时间周期,数据驱动器17通过静电流源25向将被驱动的数据线13施加数据信号,并且通过开启接地电压施加晶体管23向不被驱动的数据线13施加接地电压。
因此,本发明的有机EL模块能够利用施加到该多个扫描线11和数据线13的一部分的电压差形成图象。
但是,如果在有机EL基板内部存在由诸如微粒的杂质导致的故障(即扫描线11和数据线13短路),那么沿扫描线11或数据线13会形成线形缺陷图象。为了避免这种缺陷,有必要使有机EL模块经受老化处理。
本发明通过提供用于直接老化处理有机EL模块或者安装在移动装置上的有机EL模块的方法来防止由杂质引起的劣质图象并延长有机EL模块的使用寿命。图2示出本发明的一个优选实施例的有机EL模块的老化处理电路。
参照图2,在用于老化处理有机EL模块的方法中,接地电压施加到连接于数据驱动器17的数据线13,并且反向电压Vpp施加到连接于扫描驱动器15的扫描线。
在该例中,如上所述,驱动器控制器开启扫描驱动器15中的至少一个反向电压施加晶体管21用于从电源Vpp向相关的扫描线11施加低于击穿电压的高反向电压。与此同时,驱动器控制器开启数据驱动器17中的至少一个接地电压施加晶体管27以使得相关的数据线13接地。由此,发光二极管19可以具有施加于之的高反向电压。反向电压烧结数据线13和扫描线11之间的微粒从而消除具有低于击穿电压的电压的线之间的电连接。
数据驱动器17以及扫描驱动器15的输出电压相比而言,数据驱动器17的输出电压可以设置为低电压或接地电压,而扫描驱动器15的输出电压可以设置为高电压或高于预定电压的电压。
或者,通过根据预置在驱动器控制器中的固定波形对数据驱动器17以及扫描驱动器15进行控制操作,本发明的有机EL模块可以具有施加于之的反向电压。
数据驱动器17和扫描驱动器15中的接地电压施加晶体管27和反向电压施加晶体管21的开启/关闭操作可以根据预置在驱动器控制器中的引线的状态进行。
优选地扫描驱动器15的输出电压限制在足以去除有机EL模块上的微粒的预置电压水平之下。
而且,本发明的用于老化处理有机EL模块的方法可以设计为在硬件基础上或软件基础上向数据驱动器17和扫描驱动器15施加反向电压以去除诸如微粒的杂质。
而且,本发明的有机EL模块可以安装在移动装置上,从而使用者可以通过直接选择移动装置上的老化处理菜单或按键来进行有机EL模块的老化处理。
如上所述,本发明的有机EL模块在完成有机EL模块的制造的状态下向数据线13施加接地电压并向扫描线11施加高反向电压。从而,因微粒引起的数据线13和扫描线11之间的电连接可以被消除,以延长有机EL模块的使用寿命并提高图象质量。
对于本领域技术人员来说显然可以对本发明进行各种修改和变化,而不脱离本发明的实质或范围。因此,只要本发明的这些修改和变化落入所附权利要求及其等同体的范围内,本发明包含这些修改和变化。
Claims (5)
1.一种有机EL模块,包括:
多个扫描线;
多个垂直于该多个扫描线的数据线;
多个位于该多个扫描线和该多个数据线的交叉区域的发光二极管;
一个具有分别连接于该多个扫描线的反向电压施加晶体管和接地电压施加晶体管的扫描驱动器;
一个具有分别连接于该多个数据线的静电流源和接地电压施加晶体管的数据驱动器;以及
一个用于控制扫描驱动器和数据驱动器的驱动器控制器,
其特征在于,驱动器控制器开启数据驱动器中的至少一个接地电压施加晶体管以使得相关的数据线接地,并且与此同时,驱动器控制器开启扫描驱动器中的至少一个反向电压施加晶体管用于向相关的扫描线施加反向电压。
2.如权利要求1所述的有机EL模块,其特征在于,反向电压施加晶体管和接地电压施加晶体管的开启操作按照预定的波形周期性地进行。
3.如权利要求2所述的有机EL模块,其特征在于,该波形是脉冲波或者正弦波。
4.如权利要求1所述的有机EL模块,其特征在于,反向电压施加晶体管和接地电压施加晶体管的开启操作按照预置在驱动器控制器上的引线的状态进行。
5.如权利要求1所述的有机EL模块,其特征在于,扫描驱动器的反向电压施加晶体管施加一定的电流,消除由有机场致发光基板的杂质引起的电异常。
