Abstract
一种像素,具有提供电压补偿的能力,其包括补偿装置、第一开关组件、驱动晶体管、以及显示组件。补偿装置在第一期间内产生补偿电压。第一开关组件在第二期间内传送数据信号。驱动晶体管在第一期间内操作在反向偏压模式,且在第二期间内操作在正向偏压模式以根据补偿电压及数据信号来产生驱动电流。显示组件根据驱动电流来发光。
Description
技术领域
本发明涉及一种像素,特别是涉及一种显示面板。
背景技术
图1表示现有有机发光二极管(organic light emitting diode,OLED)面板的像素示意图。像素1包括开关晶体管M10、存储电容器Cst10、驱动晶体管M11、以及发光二极管(light-emitting diode,LED)EL。开关晶体管M10的栅极耦接扫描线SL,其漏极耦接数据线DL。当扫描线SL被使能(assert)时,其提供扫描信号SCAN以导通开关晶体管M10。数据线DL的数据信号DATA则传送至驱动晶体管M11的栅极,存储电容器Cst10则存储数据信号DATA。根据存储在存储电容器Cst10的数据信号DATA,驱动晶体管M11提供一驱动电流Id以驱动LED EL发光。LED EL的发光亮度则是依据驱动电流Id的电流量而决定。
驱动电流Id会根据驱动晶体管M11的参考特性而改变。当驱动晶体管M11的工艺发生变化时,每个像素内驱动晶体管M11的临界电压Vth则会相异,导致像素与像素间及/或面板与面板间的亮度不均匀。因此,需要临界电压补偿电路来消除不均匀的亮度。
发明内容
本发明提供一种像素,具有提供电压补偿的能力,其包括补偿装置、第一开关组件、驱动晶体管、以及显示组件。补偿装置在第一期间内产生补偿电压。第一开关组件在第二期间内传送数据信号。驱动晶体管在第一期间内操作在反相偏压模式,且在第二期间内操作在正向偏压模式以根据补偿电压及数据信号来产生驱动电流。显示组件根据驱动电流来发光。
补偿电压可以等于该驱动晶体管的临界电压。由于驱动晶体管的临界电压由该补偿电压所补偿,驱动晶体管则产生驱动电流来驱动显示组件,其中,此驱动电流独立于驱动晶体管的临界电压。因此,此像素的亮度独立于临界电压的变化,且显示的均匀度也因此而改善。
为使本发明的上述目的、特征和优点能更明显易懂,下文特举一较佳实施例,并配合附图,作详细说明如下。

具体实施方式
图2表示本发明实施例的显示面板。参阅图2,显示面板2包括数据驱动器20、扫描驱动器21、以及显示阵列22。数据驱动器20控制多个数据线D1至Dm,且数据线D1至Dm,分别载有数据信号DATA1至DATAm。扫描驱动器21包括多个扫描单元211至21n,其分别控制扫描线G1至Gn。扫描线G1至Gn分别载有扫描信号SCAN1至SCANn。显示阵列22由数据线D1至Dm与扫描线G1至Gn交错而形成。一组交错的数据线Dm与扫描线Gn对应一像素,举例来说,交错的数据线D1与扫描线G1对应像素200,且交错的数据线D1与扫描线G2对应像素201。参阅图2,每一扫描线Gx更通过反相器23x+1耦接至第(x+1)列上的像素。换句话说,在第(x+1)列上的像素接收扫描线Gx+1的扫描信号SCANx+1以及在反相扫描线GXx+1的反相扫描信号SCANXx+1,其中1≤x≤n-1。反相扫描信号SCANXx+1与扫描信号SCANx互为反相。举例来说,在第二列的像素201接收扫描信号SCAN2以及反相扫描信号SCANX2,其中,反相扫描信号SCANX2与扫描信号SCAN1互为反相。
图3表示图2的像素示意图。对于每一像素而言,以像素201为例子,像素201操作在第一期间与第二期间以显示图像,且包括驱动晶体管M30、补偿装置30、第一开关组件M31、以及显示组件31。补偿装置30在第一期间内产生补偿电压。第一开关组件M31耦接于数据线D1与第一节点N1之间,且由扫描线G2所控制。当扫描线G2在第二期间被使能时,第一开关组件M31传送数据信号DATA1至第一节点N1。驱动晶体管M30在第一期间操作在反相偏压。驱动晶体管M30在第二期间操作在正向偏压,以根据补偿电压与数据信号DATA1来产生驱动电流Id。在图3中,驱动晶体管M30为P型晶体管,且具有控制端32、第一端33、以及第二端34。第一端33耦接5V的第一电压源PVdd。在反相偏压的模式下,产生了由第二端34流向第一端33的电流Ire。在正向偏压的模式下,则产生由第一端33流向第二端34的驱动电流Id。显示组件31则根据驱动电流Id来发光。
参阅图3,补偿装置30包括第一电容器Cst30、第二电容器Cth、第二开关组件M32、第三开关组件M33、以及第四开关组件M34。驱动晶体管M30的控制端32耦接第二电容器Cth于第二节点N2,其第二端34耦接第三节点N3。第二开关组件M32耦接于第一电压源PVdd与第二节点N2之间。第四开关组件M34耦接于显示组件31的一端与第三节点N3之间。第三开关组件M33耦接于第一节点N1与第二节点N3之间。第一电容器Cst30的一端接收由扫描单元212通过参考线R2而提供的参考信号Ref2,其另一端耦接第一节点N1。第二电容器Cth耦接于第二节点N2与第一节点N1之间。显示组件31的另一端耦接-5V的第二电压源PVss。开关组件M32至M34的控制端皆耦接于反相扫描线GX1。
在图3的实施例中,显示组件31可以是电激发光(electroluminescent)组件,例如有激发光二极管(organic light emitting diode,OLED)。驱动晶体管M30可以是薄膜晶体管(thin film transistor,TFT)。开关组件M31至M34可以为主动组件,例如薄膜晶体管(TFT)。较佳的是,开关组件M31至M34与驱动晶体管M30为多晶硅薄膜晶体管(polysilicon TFT),其具有较高电流驱动能力。在图3的实施例中,开关组件M32及M33为P型TFT,且开关组件M31及M34为N型TFT。
图4表示图3中像素201的时序图。在此实施例中,扫描线G2与反相扫描线GX2由扫描驱动器21的扫描单元212所使能(assert)或反使能(de-assert)。参考信号Ref2由扫描单元212所提供,而以下述的方法来作用。
在第一期间P1,扫描线G2在0V的低电平(反使能)。在时间点t1上,参考线R2由10V的高电平变为-5V的低电平(使能)。在时间t1至t2间,参考线R2维持在-5V的低电平。第一节点N1的电压Vn1立刻减少至低于0V。在时间t1至t2期间内,由于数据信号DATA1为0V至5V且扫描信号SCAN2为0V,第一开关组件M31稍微导通,且第一开关组件M31改变第一节点N1的电压使其变为大约-1V至-2V。在时间点t2,参考线R2由-5V的低电平变为10V的高电平(反使能)。参考线R2的电压提升至10V,且节点N1的电压Vn1被上拉至大约15V。在时间点t3,反相扫描线GX2变为低电平(使能),且在时间t3至t4内维持在低电平。根据在低电平的反相扫描线GX2,开关组件M32及M33导通,且第四开关组件M34关闭。因此,第三节点N3的电压Vn3等于15V,且第二节点N2的电压Vn2等于5V。在时间t3至t4的期间内,驱动晶体管M30操作在反相偏压模式下,产生了由第二端34至第一端33的电流Ire。藉由电压Vn1减去电压Vn2可获得补偿电压Vth1,并存储在第二电容器Vth,其中,补偿电压Vth1等于驱动晶体管M30的临界电压Vth2。
在由时间t5至t6的第二期间P2内,反相扫描线GX2位于高电平(反使能),且扫描线G2位于高电平(使能)。开关组件M32及M33关闭,且第四开关组件M34导通。第一开关组件M31亦导通。在数据线D1的数据信号DATA1具有数据电压Vdata。由于第一开关组件M31导通且开关组件M32及M33关闭,因此数据信号DATA1则传送至第一节点N1,并存储在第一电容器Cst30,使得第二节点N2的电压Vn2等于(Vdata-Vth1)。
流经驱动晶体管M30的驱动电流Id具有下列的关系:
Id∝(Vsg-Vth2)=(pvdd-Vdata2+Vth1-Vth2)=(pvdd-Vdata2)
其中,驱动晶体管M30的源极电压Vs等于第一电压源PVdd的电压pvdd,其栅极电压Vg等于(Vdata-Vth1),且其临界电压等于Vth2。
因此,由于驱动晶体管M30的临界电压Vth2可以由存储在第二电容器Cth的补偿电压Vth1所补偿,使得驱动晶体管M30可以根据数据信号DATA1而产生驱动电流Id,以驱动显示显示组件31。因为开关组件M34导通,驱动电流Id可驱动显示组件31发光。
在此实施例中,由于驱动晶体管M30的临界电压Vth2可以由补偿电压Vth1所补偿,因此驱动电流Id独立于驱动晶体管M30的临界电压Vth2。使得每一像素的亮度独立于临界电压Vth2。当每一像素的亮度独立于临界电压Vth2时,显示的均匀度则可改善。
图5表示具有上述显示面板2的显示装置5。一般来说,显示装置5包括控制器50以及图2的显示面板2等等。控制器50操作性地耦接该显示面板2,且提供控制信号,例如时钟信号、起始信号、或图像信号等等,至显示面板2。
图6表示具有上述显示装置5的电子装置6。电子装置6可以是可携式装置(例如个人数字助理(personal digital assistant,PDA))、数字相机、笔记本型计算机、桌上型计算机、移动电话、显示屏幕装置等等。一般来说,电子装置6包括输入单元60及图5的显示装置5等等。此外,输入单元60操作性地耦接该显示装置5,且提供输入信号(例如图像信号)至显示装置5。显示装置5的控制器50则根据输入信号来提供控制信号至显示面板2。
本发明虽以较佳实施例揭露如上,然其并非用以限定本发明的范围,任何所属技术领域中具有通常知识者,在不脱离本发明的精神和范围内,当可做些许的更动与润饰,因此本发明的保护范围当视本发明申请专利范围所界定者为准。
Claims (10)
1.一种像素,具有提供电压补偿的能力,包括:
一补偿装置,用以在一第一期间内产生一补偿电压;
一第一开关组件,用以在一第二期间内传送一数据信号;
一驱动晶体管,在该第一期间内操作在一反相偏压模式,且在该第二期间内操作在一正向偏压模式以根据该补偿电压及该数据信号来产生一驱动电流;以及
一显示组件,根据该驱动电流来发光。
2.如权利要求1所述的像素,其中,该补偿电压等于操作在该反相偏压模式的该驱动晶体管的一临界电压。
3.如权利要求1所述的像素,其中,该驱动晶体管具有一控制端、耦接一第一电压源的一第一端、以及一第二端。
4.如权利要求3所述的像素,其中,在该第一期间内,该补偿装置根据在一参考线的一参考信号而产生该补偿电压。
5.如权利要求4所述的像素,其中,该补偿装置包括:
一第一电容器,该第一电容器的一端接收该参考信号,且该第一电容器的另一端耦接一第一节点;以及
一第二电容器,耦接于该第一节点与该驱动晶体管的该控制端之间,并存储该补偿电压。
6.如权利要求5所述的像素,其中,该补偿装置更包括:
一第二开关组件,耦接于该第一电压源与该驱动晶体管的该控制端之间;
一第三开关组件,耦接于耦接于该第一节点与该驱动晶体管的该第二端之间;以及
一第四开关组件耦接于该驱动晶体管的该第二端与该显示组件之间;
其中,在该第一期间内,该第二及第三开关组件导通,且该第四开关组件关闭;以及
其中,在该第二期间内,该第二及第三开关组件关闭,且该第四开关组件导通。
7.如权利要求1所述的像素更包括:
一第一扫描线,耦接该补偿装置,且在该第一期间内被使能;以及
一第二扫描线,耦接该第一开关单元,且在该第二期间内被使能。
8.如权利要求7所述的像素,其中,当该第一扫描线被使能时,该补偿装置开始产生该补偿电压,且当该第二扫描线被使能时,该第一开关单元开始传送该数据信号至该驱动晶体管。
9.一种显示面板,包括:
一显示阵列,由多个数据线与多个扫描线所形成,且包括多个权利要求1所述的像素,其中,所述数据线与所述扫描线交错;
一数据驱动器,用以控制所述数据线;以及
一扫描驱动器,用以控制所述数据线。
10.如权利要求9所述的显示面板,其中,该扫描驱动器更提供一对应的参考信号至每一该像素的该补偿装置,且每一该像素的该补偿装置根据该对应的参考信号而产生该补偿电压。
