Abstract

技术领域
本发明涉及玻璃纤维毡不溶性粘合剂组合物。特别地,其涉及用于施加在玻璃纤维毡上的自由基引发的不溶性聚酯和乙烯基酯粘合剂组合物。
背景技术
生产出来的大多数类型的玻璃纤维毡需要粘合剂以便保持最终产品的完整性。连续长丝毡(CFM)是这种毡中的一种。该类型的毡通过以绕圈(looping)方式将熔融的玻璃股料直接沉积在移动的带上而生产。随着玻璃纤维冷却,将粘合剂施加至毡,同时CFM在恰当的位置(就地,in place)硬化。该类型的毡最常用于封闭成型(模塑,molding)应用,比如拉挤成型、真空灌注加工、树脂传递成型、冷成型等。相比之下,短切毡(CSM)通过将连续的股料粗纱切成短片段(segment)而生产。这些片段随后沉积在移动的带上,并且,施加粘合剂以使纤维保持在一起。
总的来说,粘合剂提供了使玻璃纤维股料彼此结合的一种方式,产生了更坚固的材料,通常具有刚性结构完整性。作为总的规则,玻璃纤维毡的抗拉强度随着所添加的粘合剂的量成比例地提高。置于玻璃纤维毡上的粘合剂的量通过生产线速度而被成比例地控制,对于生产线速度而言,其通过测量极限有机指数(LOI)而被确定。为了在期望的时间尺度上实现粘合剂固化,热引发剂的量根据初始组合物而变化。生产线越快,就需要更多的引发剂以实现期望程度的固化。
例如,目前的用于连续玻璃纤维毡上的不溶性粘合剂组合物主要由内在地(intrinsically)与过氧化苯甲酰混合的聚酯醇酸型树脂制得。随着玻璃纤维毡上的不溶性粘合剂浓度提高,观察到更多的黄化。该毡的着色(coloration)的背后的主要原因是过氧化苯甲酰的分解产物及其进一步氧化玻璃纤维毡和/或其上的材料的能力。因此,仍需要经改进的粘合剂组合物,其提供更好的性能特性和更优的美学性质。
发明内容
本发明提供了经改进的粘合剂组合物,其可与CFM型玻璃纤维毡结合使用。该组合物包含可固化的不饱和树脂、一种或多种偶氮引发剂、以及流动增强添加剂。然后,将成分大致地组合,并研磨成粒径例如为25至1000微米的均匀粉末,其中,粒径一般由期望的终端用途而确定。然后,通过在玻璃纤维毡正在形成时向玻璃纤维毡“撒粉(dusting)”,直接地施用该均匀粉末,或者,将该均匀粉末与水混合成浆料,进而,在毡正在形成时,将浆料施用至毡。与现有的利用过氧型引发剂体系(例如,过氧化苯甲酰)的组合物相比,所得玻璃纤维复合结构体表现出改进的随时间推移的白度。
具体实施方式
本发明提供了粘合剂组合物,其包含:(i)不饱和的聚酯或乙烯基酯树脂;(ii)偶氮型引发剂和(iii)流动增强剂。在一些实施方式中,不饱和的聚酯或乙烯基酯树脂将以约80至约99.8重量%、约90至约99.8重量%、或约95至约99.8重量%的量存在。
一般来说,在本发明的组合物中,术语“不饱和的聚酯”将理解为意指由马来酸酐、马来酸、富马酸、衣康酸、衣康酸酐和二醇制造的聚酯,和/或,组合有其它羧酸类的二元酸和/或酸酐的这些酸与二醇的酯衍生物。根据本发明使用的乙烯基酯树脂和不饱和的聚酯树脂可选自复合材料领域的技术人员已知的不饱和的聚酯树脂和乙烯基酯树脂。该组合物可包含一种乙烯基酯或不饱和的聚酯,或者,可利用乙烯基酯和/或不饱和的聚酯的混合物。Malik等在J.M.S.-Rev.Macromol.Chem.Phys.,C40(2&3),第139-165页(2000)中描述了待用作本发明树脂中的基础树脂体系的合适的不饱和的聚酯或乙烯基酯树脂的实例,其可再分为以下类别:(1)邻位树脂(ortho-resin):这些是基于邻苯二甲酸酐、马来酸酐、或富马酸与二醇,比如1,2-丙二醇、乙二醇、二乙二醇、三乙二醇、1,3-丙二醇、二丙二醇、三丙二醇、1,4-丁二醇、1,6-己二醇、2-甲基-2,4-戊二醇、新戊基二醇或经氢化的双酚A。(2)异位树脂(iso-resin):这些是由间苯二甲酸、马来酸酐或富马酸与二醇制备。(3)对苯二甲酸类树脂:这些是由对苯二甲酸、马来酸酐或富马酸与二醇制备。该类树脂还包括这样的树脂,在该树脂中,聚(对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯)用作起始材料并且通过原位糖酵解(glycolysis)转化为单体。(4)双酚A富马酸酯:这些是基于经乙氧基化的双酚A和富马酸。(5)乙烯基酯树脂:这些是仅在末端位置具有不饱和的位点的树脂。例如,这样的不饱和可通过环氧树脂(例如,双酚A的缩水甘油醚、苯酚-酚醛清漆(phenol-novolac)型的环氧、或基于四溴双酚A的环氧)与(甲基)丙烯酸的反应而被引入。(6)富马酸酯树脂:这些是衍生自马来酸、马来酸酐、马来酸二甲酯、富马酸、富马酸二甲酯、或富马酸二乙酯与二醇的树脂。(7)马来酸酯树脂:这些是衍生自马来酸、马来酸酐、马来酸二甲酯或马来酸二乙酯与二醇的树脂。(8)衣康酸酯树脂:这些是衍生自衣康酸、衣康酸酐、衣康酸二甲酯、或衣康酸二乙酯与二醇的树脂。
术语“偶氮型引发剂”指的是具有通式R-N=N-R’的热自由基引发剂,其中R和R'通常为烷基或环烷基,任选地具有其它官能团。在一些实施方式中,R和R'选自,例如,以下基团:环己基;1-环己基-1-氰基;以及,C3-C9烷基,任选地被氰基、酰氨基或烷酰基取代。实例包括可从WAKO Chemicals USA,Inc.获得的具有名称V-40、V-59、AIBN(偶氮二异丁腈)、V-65、V-70、V-601和VAm-110的产品,包括如下化合物:
1,1’-偶氮二(环己烷-1-腈(甲腈,carbonitrile));
2,2’-偶氮二(2-甲氧基丁腈(butyronitrile));
2,2’-偶氮二(异丁腈);
2,2’-偶氮二(2,4-二甲基戊腈);
2,2’-偶氮二(4-甲氧基-2,4-二甲基戊腈);
2,2’-偶氮二(2-甲基丙酸)二甲酯;和
2,2’-偶氮二(N-丁基-2-甲基丙酰胺)。
进一步的实例包括可以商标从Chemours获得的那些,包括52、64、67、和88,其分别对应于2-2'-偶氮双(2,4-二甲基戊腈)、偶氮二异丁腈、2,2’-偶氮二(2-甲基丁烷腈(butanenitrile))、和1,1'-偶氮二(环己烷腈(carbonitrile))。
在一些实施方式中,偶氮型引发剂表现出约40°至约120℃之间的自加速分解温度。在一些实施方式中,偶氮型引发剂以约0.25至约10.0重量%、约0.25至约7.5重量%、或约0.25至约5重量%的量存在。
在一个实施方式中,“流动增强剂”是脂肪酸的长链金属盐。实例包括C7-C15脂肪酸的锌、钙、和镁盐,例如,硬脂酸锌、硬脂酸镁、硬脂酸钙、硬脂酸铝等。另外,流动增强剂可以为热解法二氧化硅(fumed silica),例如,由Evonik市售的以商标以不同产品名称出售的那些。流动增强剂通常与树脂组分(1)及偶氮型引发剂(2)共混,并研磨成具有不同粒径的自由流动的粉末。
如本文中所使用的,术语“连续长丝毡”(CFM)将理解为意指通过以下产生的玻璃纤维毡:对一根或多根连续玻璃纤维股料进行绕圈,以产生随机的纤维取向。(参见,例如,美国专利No.7,083,855,其通过引用并入本文。)玻璃纤维可具有任何已知的组成和类别,例如,称作“E-玻璃”、“A-玻璃”、“C-玻璃”、“D-玻璃”、“R-玻璃”、“S-玻璃”、和E-玻璃衍生物的那些。在一个实施方式中,CFM毡由E-玻璃组成(CFM毡包含E-玻璃,CFM mat iscomprised of E-glass)。
我们已发现,本发明的组合物能够粘合制造连续玻璃纤维毡的不同玻璃纤维股料,提供在消费者应用中需要的必要的机械和美学性质。本文提供的组合物满足制造合适的玻璃纤维毡所需要的玻璃纤维制造的标准,所述合适的玻璃纤维毡与现有的过氧引发的复合结构体相比表现出改进的随时间推移的白度保留。
例如,本发明的组合物可用作多种应用中的粘合剂,例如,在玻璃纤维复合物(包括屋面瓦、绝缘物)的制造以及毡或毯(其随后可成形为期望的形状并且固化以提供刚性三维结构体)的制造中。参见,例如,美国专利No.5,393,849和US2004/0034154,其通过引用而并入本文。
本发明可通过本发明的某些实施方式的以下实施例作进一步说明,但应当理解,所包括的这些实施例仅出于说明的目的,而且,并不旨在限制本发明的范围。
实验部分
实施例#1.蒸煮(cook)乙二醇富马酸酯直到达到40的酸值。97.29份的该聚酯醇酸被粉碎并且内在地(intrinsically)与2.46份的偶氮二异丁腈[64,AIBN]和0.25份的硬脂酸锌混合以产生实施例#1。
实施例#2.在以上程序之后,使96.87份的经粉碎的聚酯醇酸、2.88份的2,2’-偶氮二(2-甲基丁腈(butyronitrile))[67,AMBN]和0.25份的硬脂酸锌内在地混合以产生实施例#2。
通过将各物料放置在具有环氧内衬的容器中而对所有以上组合物进行混合。然后,将该容器置于磨石机(rock tumbler)上1小时。之后,由各组合物制备2%的水浆料。然后,使用所述浆料浸泡Uniconform毡(约1平方英尺)的块。允许经浸泡的毡空气干燥10分钟,并且,最后,使它们在150℃下以对流烘箱进行10分钟时间的固化。然后测定各经固化的毡的抗拉强度。

将从经固化的Uniconform毡获得的抗拉强度结果汇总至表#1(见上)。与E240-8T对照物相比,使用实施例1和2固化的Uniconform毡表现出约一半的抗拉强度。实施例3(其含有ACHN引发剂)能够实现接近对照物所表现出的抗拉强度的80%。这些组合物表现出作为过氧化苯甲酰组合物的可能替代物的潜力。所观察到的实施例1-3之间的区别可归于多个因素:与过氧化二苯甲酰或苯并过氧化物(过氧化苯甲酰,benzoperoxide)(BPO)相比偶氮引发剂的自由基产生效率较低,与BPO相比偶氮引发剂的水溶解度更高,以及,用于以这些组合物制造经固化的毡的方法的复杂性。
工业实用性声明
玻璃纤维是使用玻璃纤维的纤维增强塑料的常见类型,在水处理、飞行器、船舶、机动车和许多其它行业中具有广泛应用。其广泛的应用性部分地得自这样的事实:其是非磁性的、非传导性的并且可成形为复杂的形状。本发明提供了可与CFM型玻璃纤维毡结合使用的经改进的粘合剂组合物。与现有的利用过氧型引发剂体系(例如,过氧化苯甲酰)的组合物相比,所公开的玻璃纤维复合结构体表现出改进的随时间推移的白度。
Claims (21)
1.玻璃纤维粘合剂组合物,包含:
(i)不饱和的聚酯或乙烯基酯树脂;
(ii)偶氮型引发剂;和
(iii)流动增强剂。
2.权利要求1的组合物,其中,不饱和的聚酯或乙烯基酯树脂选自邻位树脂。
3.权利要求1的组合物,其中,不饱和的聚酯或乙烯基酯树脂选自异位树脂。
4.权利要求1的组合物,其中,不饱和的聚酯或乙烯基酯树脂选自对苯二甲酸类树脂。
5.权利要求1的组合物,其中,不饱和的聚酯或乙烯基酯树脂选自双酚A富马酸酯。
6.权利要求1的组合物,其中,不饱和的聚酯或乙烯基酯树脂选自乙烯基酯树脂。
7.权利要求1的组合物,其中,不饱和的聚酯或乙烯基酯树脂选自富马酸酯树脂。
8.权利要求1的组合物,其中,不饱和的聚酯或乙烯基酯树脂选自马来酸酯树脂。
