Description

液化气体燃料储罐液位校准控制系统
技术领域
本公开大体上涉及用于内燃发动机的燃料供应系统,且更具体地涉及用于此类燃料供应系统的液化气体燃料储罐校准控制系统。
背景技术
用于固定或移动机械的内燃发动机的燃料供应系统可以采用液体或气体燃料。例如,柴油燃料可以用于柴油发动机中以提供期望的扭矩和燃烧效率。诸如天然气的气体燃料可以用于气体燃料发动机中以提供足够的扭矩,同时由于在某些发动机位置处准备好供应天然气而潜在地实现成本的降低。称为双燃料发动机的一些内燃发动机构造成以两种不同的燃料运行。例如,一些内燃发动机可以使用柴油燃料作为先导燃料,并且使用天然气作为主燃料。当使用天然气作为燃料时,天然气可以液体形式作为液态天然气(LNG)储存在加压储罐中。储存在储罐中的液态天然气的液位可以由液位传感器,例如电容液位传感器来测量。此外,通过将储罐和燃料供应系统中的压力维持在最小阈值以上,将液态天然气作为天然气供应到发动机。随着储罐中的燃料被发动机消耗,储罐中的液态天然气的液位降低。最终,液态天然气的液位将降低到阈值液位以下,使得燃料供应系统中的压力将降低到将天然气供应至发动机的最小阈值以下。然而,即使没有足够的压力将储罐中剩余的天然气供应至发动机,储罐中也可有剩余的液态天然气可用。
当前储罐系统的一个问题是,在移动机械应用中的操作期间,储罐液位和储罐内部的压力可能没有很好的关联。例如,储罐中的压力取决于许多因素,包括饱和的液态天然气温度、液体-蒸汽体积和质量比、由于热传递导致的液态天然气沸腾速率、储罐中燃料的晃动导致蒸汽压力的崩溃以及发动机燃料消耗速率。此外,在利用液位传感器的系统中,由于储罐中剩余的液态天然气,操作员可看到驾驶室中的储罐液位指示器显示感知到的可用储罐液位。然而,由于压力太低而无法向发动机供应天然气,因此发动机不能利用储罐中剩余的液态天然气。因而,当储罐液位指示器指示储罐中剩余有液态天然气时,储罐可能实际上是空的。各种因素也可能影响储罐液位指示器的准确性。例如,液位传感器的电容可以随时间变化,或者操作者可以使用具有不同介电常数的不同类型的气体燃料。
1995年1月10日授予Abowd的第5,379,637号美国专利(“‘637专利”)描述了测量和指示机动车辆的储罐中的天然气燃料的液位的系统和方法。所述系统利用压力传感器测量储罐内部的压力,并且利用温度传感器测量储罐内部的天然气的温度。控制单元响应于所测量的压力和温度来确定指示储罐中的燃料量的仪表的命令。‘637专利还公开了控制单元基于所测量的压力和温度使用查找表来检索表示储罐充满天然气的百分比的信号。因此,‘637专利的系统和方法指示储罐中的天然气燃料的液位。但是,‘637专利并未公开当储罐中剩下的剩余液态天然气不可用时,控制单元指示储罐为空。
本公开的系统和方法可化解或解决上述问题中的一个或多个和/或本领域中的其它问题。然而,本公开的范围由所附权利要求限定,而不是由解决任何特定问题的能力限定。
发明内容
在一个方面,一种用于内燃发动机的气体燃料供应系统可包括储罐,所述储罐用于储存液化气体燃料并将所述燃料供应到发动机。所述系统还可以包括用于测量所述储罐中的液化气体燃料的液位值的液位传感器和用于测量所述燃料供应系统中的气体燃料的压力值的压力传感器。所述系统还可以包括控制器,所述控制器被配置成:监测所述压力传感器的指示压力值的压力信号和所述液位传感器的指示液位值的储罐液位信号;在所述压力值指示所述储罐为空时存储所述液位值;在所述压力值或所述液位值指示所述储罐为满时存储所述液位值;以及基于所存储的液位值确定校准的液位范围。
在另一方面,一种用于校准液化气体燃料储罐液位的方法可包括监测来自压力传感器的压力信号和来自液位传感器的储罐液位信号,所述压力信号指示用于内燃发动机的燃料供应系统中的气体燃料的压力值,并且所述储罐液位信号指示所述储罐中的液化气体燃料的液位值。所述方法还可以包括在压力值指示储罐为空时存储液位值,以及在压力值或液位值指示储罐为满时存储液位值。所述方法还可以包括基于所存储的值确定校准的液位范围。
在又一方面,一种用于内燃发动机的气体燃料供应系统可包括储罐,所述储罐用于储存液化气体燃料并将气体燃料供应到发动机。所述系统还可以包括用于测量所述储罐中的液化气体燃料的液位值的液位传感器和用于测量所述燃料供应系统中的气体燃料的压力值的压力传感器。所述系统还可以包括控制器,所述控制器被配置成:监测所述压力传感器的指示压力值的压力信号和所述液位传感器的指示液位值的储罐液位信号;基于当前储罐液位信号和校准的液位范围将储罐液位信号输出到液位指示器,其中,校准的液位范围基于在压力信号指示储罐为空或为满时存储的液位值。

燃料供应系统100可包括储罐12,该储罐用于储存液体形式的气体燃料。例如,天然气可以液化为液态天然气(LNG),并且储罐12可以是用于储存液态天然气的加压低温罐。气体管线14可以联接到发动机10和储罐12,以用于将天然气从储罐12提供到发动机10。因此,燃料供应系统100可以依靠发动机10与储罐12内部的压力之间的压力差,以引起天然气从储罐12流出到发动机10。此外,在引入到发动机10的进气部件之前,热交换器14可以加热液态天然气以将气体管线14中的液态天然气转换为气体。因此,天然气可以压缩的形式作为压缩天然气(CNG)提供给发动机10的进气部件。应理解,储罐12可以是用于储存任何类型的液化气体燃料的任何类型的储罐。
燃料供应系统100还可包括储罐液位指示器18,该储罐液位指示器用于指示储罐12中的液化气体燃料(例如,液态天然气)的液位。在示例性实施例中,储罐液位指示器18可包括燃料仪表,所述燃料仪表具有指示器标记(例如,空和满指示器标记)以及用于指向指示器标记以指示储罐12中的液化气体燃料的液位的指针等。例如,当储罐12中的液化气体燃料的液位降低到空状态时,储罐液位指示器18可以将指针指向空指示器标记。在其它实施例中,储罐液位指示器18可包括用于指示储罐12的空状态和/或满状态的二元机构,例如灯。例如,当储罐12中的液化气体燃料的液位降低到空状态时,储罐液位指示器18可以激活指示储罐12为空的灯。在一个实施例中,空状态可包括储罐12中的液位大于零(0)的液化气体燃料。例如,空状态可对应于在燃料供应系统100中的燃料(例如,天然气)的压力降低到用于维持燃料流向发动机10的最小阈值以下时储罐12中剩余的液化气体燃料的液位。应理解,储罐液位指示器18可以是用于指示储罐中的任何类型的液化气体燃料的液位的任何类型的液位指示器。
如图1中还示出的,燃料供应系统100可包括液位传感器20和压力传感器22。液位传感器20可以联接到储罐12以用于测量储罐12中的液化气体燃料的液位。液位传感器20可以是用于测量液位的任何类型的传感器或装置,包括例如电容式传感器、电阻传感器、基于磁簧开关的浮子、电光传感器、电导率传感器、压差传感器、超声传感器或压电传感器。压力传感器22可以测量燃料供应系统100中的燃料(例如,天然气)的压力。例如,压力传感器22可以邻近发动机10的进气部件定位,以用于测量进入发动机10的天然气的压力。然而,压力传感器22可以位于沿着气体管线14的任何地方,发动机10中,或储罐12中。压力传感器22可以是本领域已知的用于测量气压的任何适当类型的传感器。
液位传感器20和压力传感器22可以与诸如电子控制模块(ECM)的控制器204通信。如本领域已知的,控制器204可以从液位传感器20和压力传感器22接收输入,并且控制燃料供应系统100和发动机10的输出。控制器204还可以与储罐液位指示器18通信,以基于从液位传感器20和压力传感器22接收的输入来输出用于控制储罐液位指示器18的信号,如下文关于图2和图3进一步详述的。
图2示出了用于操作和/或控制燃料供应系统100的至少部分的燃料供应系统100的液化气体燃料储罐液位校准控制系统200的示意图。控制系统200可包括输入202、控制器204和输出206。输入202可包括例如来自压力传感器22和液位传感器20的信号,包括压力信号208和储罐液位信号210。输入202还可包括用于用户输入212的信号。输出206可包括例如对储罐液位指示器18的控制。
控制器204可包含单个微处理器或多个微处理器,所述微处理器可包括用于校准储罐液位指示器18并且通过储罐液位指示器18指示储罐12中的液化气体燃料的校准液位的装置。例如,控制器204可包括存储器、辅助存储装置、诸如中央处理单元的处理器,或用于完成与本公开一致的任务的任何其他装置。与控制器204相关联的存储器或辅助存储装置可以存储可辅助控制器204执行其功能的数据和/或软件例程。此外,与控制器204相关联的存储器或辅助存储装置还可存储从与燃料供应系统100相关联的各种输入204接收的数据。许多可商购获得的微处理器可以被配置成执行控制器204的功能。应当理解,控制器204可以容易地实现为能够控制许多其他机器功能的通用机器控制器。各种其他已知的电路,包括信号调节电路、通信电路、液压或其它致动电路和其他适当的电路,可以与控制器204相关联。
压力信号208可对应于由压力传感器22测量的压力。压力传感器22可以被配置成将指示燃料供应系统100中的压力的信号传送到控制器204。控制器204还可以从包括其它传感器的其它源获得压力信息。
储罐液位信号210可对应于由液位传感器20测量的储罐12中的液化气体燃料的液位。例如,当液位传感器20是电容液位传感器时,控制器204可以接收指示储罐12中的液化气体燃料的所测量的电容的信号。控制器204接着可基于所测量的电容确定储罐12中的液化气体燃料的液位。控制器204可以通过使用存储的查找表来确定液化气体燃料的液位,所述查找表将液化气体燃料的不同液位映射到相应的电容值。控制器204还可以从包括其它传感器的其它源获得储罐液位信息。
用户输入212可包括经由与控制器204通信的输入装置从用户接收的输入。输入装置可以是例如计算装置等。用户输入212可包括储罐12的空状态和满状态的输入,如下文进一步详述的。
工业适用性
本公开的液化气体燃料储罐液位校准控制系统200的所公开的方面可用于利用气体燃料作为燃料源的任何内燃发动机中。
图3示出了描绘用于在控制系统200的发动机10的正常操作之前校准液化气体燃料储罐液位的示例性方法300的流程图。在步骤305,控制器204可以监测压力信号208和储罐液位信号210。因此,控制器204可以从压力传感器22接收指示压力值的信号以用于确定发动机10的燃料供应系统100中的压力。例如,控制器204可以接收压力信号208。此外,控制器204可以从液位传感器20接收指示液位值的信号以用于确定储罐12中的液化气体燃料(例如,液态天然气)的液位。例如,控制器204可以接收储罐液位信号210。
在步骤310,当压力指示储罐12为空时,控制器204可以存储液位值。控制器204可确定当燃料供应系统100中的气体燃料(例如,天然气)的压力降低到最小阈值以下时,该压力指示储罐12是空的。在一个实施例中,最小阈值可以是存储在控制器204中的预定值。在另一实施例中,最小阈值可由控制系统200在发动机10的操作期间确定,并且可基于来自控制系统200的一个或多个传感器的值。例如,最小阈值可以是维持气体燃料流向发动机10所需的最小压力量。例如,即使液态天然气可能余留在储罐12中,气体管线14中的天然气的压力也可以降低到用于维持天然气流入发动机10中的最小压力阈值以下。因此,储罐12可能实际上是空的。因此,即使储罐12中剩余实质液位的液化气体燃料(例如,液态天然气),控制器204也可以确定储罐12是空的。如本文所使用,液化气体燃料的“实质液位”是储罐12中的液化气体燃料的液位的大于零(0)的值。因此,当燃料供应系统100中的压力降低到最小阈值以下时,空液位值可以是储罐12中的液化气体燃料的液位。
在步骤315,当压力和/或液位指示储罐12是满的时,控制器204可以存储液位值。控制器204可确定当燃料供应系统100中的气体燃料(例如,天然气)的压力和/或储罐12中的液化气体燃料的液位增加到预定阈值以上时,压力和/或液位指示储罐12是满的。压力和/或液位的阈值可以是用于确定储罐12是满的压力值和/或液位值的预定范围。因此,当燃料供应系统100中的压力和/或储罐12中的液化气体燃料的液位分别增加到预定阈值以上时,满的液位值可以是储罐12中的液化气体燃料的液位。
在步骤320,控制器204可以基于存储的空液位值和满液位值来确定校准的液位范围。校准的液位范围可以是分别对应于空储罐12的存储的液位值与对应于满储罐12的存储的液位值之间的范围。例如,当液位传感器20是电容液位传感器时,存储的空液位值可以是四百皮法(400pF),存储的满液位值可以是八百皮法(800pF)。控制器204可以确定校准的液位范围在400pF与800pF之间。
在替代实施例中,可以手动输入空储罐12的液位值和满储罐12的液位值。在替代步骤325,控制器204可以存储输入的空储罐12和满储罐12的液位值。因此,控制器204可以接收空液位值和满液位值的用户输入212。例如,诸如技术员的用户可以通过控制器204监测压力信号208和储罐液位信号210。用户可以通过诊断软件(例如,电子技术人员工具)访问压力信号208和储罐液位信号210信息,该诊断软件显示来自控制器204的此类信息。诊断软件可进一步允许用户将空液位值和满液位值输入(例如,用户输入212)到控制器204的存储器中。
如上所述,方法300可在发动机10正常或完全操作之前的发动机10的初始设置期间执行。例如,方法300可以在发动机10的调试期间执行。因此,方法300可用于初始校准燃料供应系统100的液化气体燃料储罐液位。在初始校准之后且在发动机10的正常或完全操作期间,控制系统200可以使用方法400校准液化气体燃料储罐液位。
图4示出了描绘用于在控制系统200的发动机10的正常操作期间校准液化气体燃料储罐液位的示例性方法400的流程图。在步骤405,控制器204可以监测压力信号208和储罐液位信号210。因此,控制器204可以从压力传感器22接收指示压力值的信号以用于确定发动机10的燃料供应系统100中的压力。例如,控制器204可以接收压力信号208。此外,控制器204可以从液位传感器20接收指示液位值的信号以用于确定储罐12中的液化气体燃料(例如,液态天然气)的液位。例如,控制器204可以接收储罐液位信号210。
在步骤410,控制器204可以基于当前液位信号210和校准的液位范围将储罐液位信号210输出到储罐液位指示器18。例如,当储罐液位指示器18是仪表型液位指示器时,控制器204可以基于校准的液位范围控制仪表以指示储罐12中剩余的液化气体燃料的当前液位。控制器204可以控制仪表的指针以基于校准的液位范围指示当前液位信号210的液位值在存储的空液位值与满液位值之间的量(例如,百分比)。因此,储罐液位指示器18可以基于校准的液位范围以相对于满量的百分比指示储罐12中剩余的液化气体燃料的液位。例如,如果校准的液位范围在400pF与800pF之间(分别对应空量和满量),并且当前液位信号210的液位值为600pF,则储罐液位指示器18可以(通过仪表的指针)指示储罐12中剩余的液化气体燃料的液位为满量的百分之五十(50%)。
在步骤415,控制器204可以确定压力信号208是否与存储的空储罐12或满储罐12的液位值不一致。例如,当燃料供应系统100中的压力再次降低到最小阈值以下时,液位值可以不同于存储的空液位值。同样地,当压力和/或液位增加到满预定阈值以上时,液位值可以不同于存储的满液位值。如果压力信号与存储的空液位值或满液位值一致(步骤415:否),则方法400可以从步骤405重复。在一个实施例中,控制器204可以使用可视为相同或一致的液位值范围。例如,当压力降低到阈值以下或增加到阈值以上时,如果液位值在范围内,则控制器204可分别确定压力信号与存储的空液位值或满液位值一致。
然而,如果压力信号与存储的空液位值或满液位值不一致(例如,不相同或超出范围)(步骤415:是),则控制器204可存储新的空压力信号或满压力信号的新液位值(步骤420)。当压力降低到最小阈值以下且新液位值不同于存储的空液位值时,新的空液位值可以是储罐12中的液化气体燃料的液位。同样地,当燃料供应系统100中的压力和/或储罐12中的液化气体燃料的液位增加到预定阈值以上时,新的满液位值可以是储罐12中的液化气体燃料的液位。
在步骤425,控制器204可以基于新的存储的空液位值和/或满液位值来确定新的校准的液位范围。新的校准的液位范围可以是分别对应于空储罐12的存储的液位值或新液位值与对应于满储罐12的存储的液位值或新液位值之间的范围。在控制器204已经确定新的校准的液位范围之后,方法400可以从步骤405重复。
本公开的此类控制系统200可以提供对储罐12中的液化气体燃料(例如,液态天然气)的液位的更精确的测量。例如,本公开可以指示储罐12何时实际上是空的,即使储罐12中仍有剩余的液化气体燃料。该信息可能对操作者有益,以允许操作者确定在储罐12中剩余多少可用的液化气体燃料。此外,控制系统200可考虑可能影响储罐12中的液化气体燃料液位的准确指示的各种因素,例如,液位传感器20的电容随时间变化或利用具有不同介电常数的不同类型的气体燃料。

Claims (10)

1.一种用于内燃发动机(10)的气体燃料供应系统(100),包括:
储罐(12),所述储罐用于储存液化气体燃料并且将所述燃料供应到所述发动机(10);
液位传感器(20),所述液位传感器用于测量所述储罐(12)中的液化气体燃料的液位值;
压力传感器(22),所述压力传感器用于测量所述燃料供应系统(100)中的气体燃料的压力值;以及
控制器(204),所述控制器被配置成:
监测所述压力传感器(22)的指示所述压力值的压力信号(208)和所述液位传感器(20)的指示所述液位值的储罐液位信号(210);
在所述压力值指示所述储罐(12)为空时存储所述液位值;
在所述压力值或所述液位值指示所述储罐(12)为满时存储所述液位值;以及
基于存储的液位值确定校准的液位范围。
2.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中所述校准的液位范围是空液位值与满液位值之间的范围。
3.根据任一前述权利要求所述的系统,其中所述控制器(204)还被配置成:
在所述压力值降低到最小阈值以下时,确定所述压力值指示所述储罐(12)是空的。
4.根据权利要求3所述的系统,其中所述最小阈值是用于维持气体燃料流向所述发动机(10)的最小压力值。
5.根据任一前述权利要求所述的系统,其中所述控制器(204)还被配置成:

6.根据任一前述权利要求所述的系统,其中所述控制器(204)还被配置成:
基于当前储罐液位信号和所述校准的液位范围,将所述储罐液位信号(210)输出到储罐液位指示器(18)。
7.根据权利要求6所述的系统,其中所述储罐液位信号(210)的输出对应于作为所述校准的液位范围内的百分比的所述当前储罐液位信号的液位值。
8.根据权利要求7所述的系统,其中所述百分比是所述当前储罐液位信号的液位值在存储的空液位值与满液位值之间的量。
9.根据任一前述权利要求所述的系统,其中所述控制器(204)还被配置成:
确定所述压力信号(208)是否与存储的空液位值或满液位值不一致;
如果所述压力信号(208)与存储的空液位值或满液位值不一致,则存储新的空液位值或新的满液位值;以及
基于存储的液位值确定新的校准的液位范围。
10.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中所述控制器(204)还被配置成:
从用户接收所述空液位值和所述满液位值的输入(212);以及
存储输入的空液位值和满液位值。
