具体实施方式
现在参照附图描述本发明,其中,相似的附图标记全文用于指代类似的元件。在下面的描述中,出于解释的目的,阐述了许多具体细节以便提供对其的全面理解。但是,明显的是,在没有这些具体细节的情况下也可以实践该创新。在其他实例中,以框图形式示出了公知的结构和装置以便于对其进行描述。
根据本公开,提供了一种将第二导体结合到RFID载带装置中的方法,其中,载带导体和第二导体耦合在一起以增加功能。增加的功能可以是以与由载带垫驱动的第一天线不同的频率操作的次级天线、感测能力、用于发射装置(诸如LED)的驱动器或者与一个或多个安装在第二导体上的半导体装置的接口。
首先参照附图,图1A、1B和图2示出了结合有第二导体102的RFID载带装置100。具体地,RFID载带装置100包括第一(或载带)导体104和第二(或顶部)导体102,电介质108位于第一导体104和第二导体102之间。第一导体104和第二导体102可以是本领域中已知的任何合适的导体,例如铝箔、铜箔或印刷导电油墨。
此外,在不影响本发明的整体构思的情况下,第一导体104和第二导体102可以是本领域中已知的任何合适的尺寸、形状和构造。例如,在一个实施例中,第一导体104可以包括连接到RFID芯片的一系列垫,这些垫的形状被设计为使得它们可以通过诸如借助薄介电粘合剂的电容的方法或者通过使用导电粘合剂而耦合到天线,并且因此将RFID芯片连接到天线。合适的形状取决于垫的数量和所使用的天线的性质。例如,当使用两个垫时,一种合适的形状是蝶形结,该蝶形结具有两个大的矩形部分,这两个大的矩形部分足够大以利用电容的方式或通过其他耦合手段耦合到天线。此外,蝶形结形状还包括朝着芯片连接处向下的锥形部分,这使得容易将芯片精确地附件到垫上。本领域普通技术人员将理解,如图中所示的第一导体104和第二导体102的形状和尺寸仅用于说明性目的,并且第一导体104和第二导体102的许多其他形状和尺寸也在本公开的范围内。尽管第一导体104和第二导体102的尺寸(即,长度、宽度和高度)是获得良好性能的重要设计参数,但是第一导体104和第二导体102可以是确保使用期间最佳性能的任何形状或尺寸。
此外,在一个实施例中,芯片112可以包括一对导电垫110。本发明还考虑到芯片112也可以使用导电凸块(未示出)。然而,本发明不限于利用导电垫110和/或凸块来促进芯片112至天线214的附接。RFID芯片112耦合到基部衬底216(图2中所示)上的单独天线214或与单独天线214通信以形成RFID标签200。天线214可以由本领域中已知的任何合适的材料(诸如铝箔)制成。天线214可以是本领域中已知的任何类型的天线,诸如偶极子、隙缝-环形(sloop)等。基部衬底216通常由纸组成,包括再生纸,但是也可以使用任何其他合适的材料,诸如塑料,包括再生塑料,而不会影响本发明的总体范围。
在图3所示的本发明的另一个实施例中,RFID载带装置300包括顶部导体302,顶部导体302可以用作天线(第二天线),并且经由分离的电介质306耦合到载带导体304或与载带导体304通信。顶部导体302可以提供与装置所需的操作频率不同的频率的路径。例如,当耦合到天线(未示出)的载带导体302的所需操作频率在UHF频带(例如,通常为860MHz-960MHz,或者更具体地在某些国家(包括美国、中国和日本)为902MHz-928MHz,或者另选地在某些其他国家和组织(包括欧盟、英国和俄罗斯)为865MHz-868MHz)中时,顶部导体302可以提供在2.45GHz下的信号频率的路径,这防止了来自诸如WiFi和蓝牙的系统的干扰,并且在信号较强的情况下防止损坏RFID芯片或产生足以引起破坏性电弧的高电压。
顶部导体302还可以执行其他功能,诸如充当穿过RFID载带垫并因此穿过RFID芯片312的电感器,以帮助芯片312与天线(未示出)之间的匹配,或者充当滤波器(即带通和/或带阻滤波器),从而使用专门设计以增强或抑制范围或频率的电感和电容的配置或传输线路谐振器(诸如双线路)。例如,传递902MHz至928MHz并抑制相邻信号,而在另一个示例中,则是在935MHz至960MHz下从GSM基站到移动站传输。顶部导体302还可以支撑用于增强滤波功能的另一装置,诸如表面声波装置、介电共振器、具有频率相关的射频能量吸收的磁性材料、具有频率相关的吸收的介电材料、设计成在大频率范围内吸收能量的电阻性材料、以及传输线路元件(诸如微载带、载带线或共面波导)。
在另一个实施例中,可以选择导体的厚度,使得其电导率随频率而变化。例如,2.7μm厚度的导体具有在915MHz下的一个趋肤深度,因此其RF电阻接近其DC电阻;然而,在趋肤深度为22μm的13.56MHz下,RF电阻远大于DC电阻,因此在13.56MHz下穿过2.7μm厚的顶部导体的能量将被相对地吸收。
顶部导体302的附加用途是使其电特性成为所感测特性的函数。例如,穿过间隙存在液体(其中顶部导体302的变化特性如前所述耦合至载带和天线导体)相应于所感测的特性改变了RFID标签的参数,诸如其在给定频率下的灵敏度。
在一些实施例中,分离的电介质306可以是塑料(诸如PET)、纸或具有相对较高介电常数(例如在3 F/m至10 F/m的范围内)的材料,诸如包含陶瓷填料(诸如二氧化钛)的塑料或本领域已知的任何其他合适的材料。在一个实施例中,载带导体304还可以用作天线(第一天线)。具体地,第一天线可以耦合至一对垫310和RFID芯片312,或者与一对垫310和RFID芯片312通信。因此,顶部导体302和载带导体304都充当天线以向RFID载带装置300增加功能。
图4A示出了RFID载带装置400,该RFID载带装置400包括顶部导体402,该顶部导体402借助电介质406经由电容耦合至底部导体404。并且,图4B公开了一种RFID载带装置408,其包括使用直接欧姆连接手段414耦合至底部导体412的顶部导体410。例如,直接欧姆连接手段414可以是本领域中已知的用于形成直接欧姆连接的任何其他合适的手段,包括机械压接、电化学过程、一个或多个填充有导电油墨的孔。
如图5A和5B所示,RFID载带装置500包括顶部导体502,该顶部导体502具有形成在其上或附接到其上的第二天线504。第二天线504可以以比耦合至载带导体506的第一天线更高的频率操作。例如,第一天线可以在902-928MHz的范围内操作,第二天线504可以在2400MHz-2500MHz的范围内操作。还可以设想,第二天线504可以以比耦合至载带506的第一天线更低的频率操作。例如,第一天线可以在902-928MHz的范围内操作,第二天线504可以在13.56MHz的频率下或邻近13.56MHz的频率下操作。该第二天线504也耦合至RFID芯片508和一对载带垫510。该耦合可以允许RFID载带装置500以第二频率或比第一天线更高的频率通信和/或收集能量以增加RFID芯片508在第一天线的频率下的性能。
另外,如图6A和6B所示,RFID载带装置600可以包括顶部导体602,该顶部导体602具有形成在其上或附接到其上的第二天线604。第二天线604可以是线圈型天线或本领域已知的任何其他合适的天线。第二天线604以比耦合至载带导体606的第一天线(未示出)更低的频率操作。该第一天线耦合至一对载带垫608和RFID芯片610。如图5A和图5B所示,这种耦合可以允许RFID芯片610在(从第一天线和第二天线604产生的)两个频率下操作,并且还允许在与顶部导体602上的第二天线604相关联的第二频率下收集功率。
在图7A和7B所示的替代实施例中,RFID载带装置700包括作为第二天线704操作的双重功能的顶部导体(或第二导体)702。顶部导体702 /第二天线704具有双重功能,因为其以与耦合至一对载带垫708和RFID芯片710的第一天线(未示出)不同的频率操作,并且还用于改善RFID芯片710与第一天线/载带导体706之间的阻抗匹配。
另外,如图8A和8B所示,RFID载带装置800包括耦合至感测装置804的顶部导体802。该耦合形成叉指式感测结构以感测例如但不限于液体、电介质或任何种类的化学品的存在。此外,经由一对载带垫808和RFID芯片810在感测装置804和载带导体806之间的耦合可以改变RFID载带装置800的功能特征。例如,其可以降低灵敏度,改变操作频率或改变RFID载带装置800通信中的数字位。
如图9A和9B所示,RFID载带装置900包括顶部导体902,该顶部导体902充当发射装置904的一部分并且耦合至RFID载带装置900。具体地,发射装置904经由一对载带垫908和RFID芯片910耦合至载带导体906。发射装置904然后可以用来驱动LED或本领域中已知的其他合适的结构。
图10A和10B中所示的实施例公开了一种多端口RFID载带装置1000,其包括用作第二天线1004的顶部导体1002。顶部导体1002耦合至多端口RFID载带装置1000的载带导体1006上的多端口载带的一个或多个载带垫1008和RFID芯片1010或与一个或多个载带垫1008和RFID芯片1010通信。顶部导体1002然后可以用作天线、传感器接口、发射装置连接或其他合适的装置。具体地,如果顶部导体1002用作第二天线1004,则其可以以与载带导体1006 /第一天线不同的第二频率操作,使得来自第二天线1004的能量耦合至多端口RFID载带装置1000上的替代性载带垫1008。
在图11A和11B所示的替代实施例中,RFID载带装置1100包括顶部导体1102,该顶部导体1102连接至半导体装置1104,然后耦合至载带导体1106。具体地,半导体装置1104经由一对载带垫1108和RFID芯片1110耦合至载带导体1106。此外,经由一对载带垫1108与RFID载带装置1100的耦合可以提供诸如数据通信、功率、时钟频率等。在一个实施例中,半导体装置1104可以充当蓝牙信标,其中2.45 GHz传输使用顶部导体1102作为天线,并且经由天线由RFID载带装置1100接收的功率或数据将控制信标和/或给信标供电。在另一个实施例中,顶部导体1102可以结合诸如电池或超级电容器之类的能量存储元件,以给RFID载带装置1100供电或者存储能量以操作传感器或其他元件。
图12A至12C示出了另一个实施例,其中RFID载带装置1200包括顶部导体1202,该顶部导体1202最初未被图案化或者仅被部分图案化。然后可以通过本领域普通技术人员已知的任何适当方法来改变该顶部导体1202以去除材料,诸如但不限于使用激光束烧蚀掉导体1202的一部分。另选地,可以使用本领域普通技术人员已知的机械手段来烧蚀掉导体1202的一部分。切割可以产生如前所述的结构1204,诸如次级天线或传感器接口区域;然而,由于载带导体1206可以经由一对载带垫1208和RFID芯片1210附接(耦合)至天线,因此切割可以响应于可测量的参数(诸如峰值操作频率),从而允许调整频率,以处理制造公差或调整RFID载带装置1200的操作频率。
图13A和13B示出了另一个实施例,其中RFID载带装置1300包括顶部导体1302,该顶部导体1302包括印刷有导体油墨的印刷导体区域1304。在一些实施例中,导电油墨包含银、铜或石墨烯。在不脱离本公开的范围的情况下,可以使用本领域普通技术人员已知的任何其他合适的导电油墨。印刷导体区域1304和顶部导体1302耦合至载带导体1306。具体地,印刷导体区域1304经由一对载带垫1308和RFID芯片1310耦合至载带导体1306。可以在使用任何合适的手段(诸如喷墨、丝网印刷、柔性版印刷或照相凹版印刷)附接载带之前或后附接,将印刷导体区域1304施加到RFID载带装置1300。印刷导体区域1304可以以前述任何方式使用,例如,作为次级天线或传感器接口区域。

Claims (8)

1.一种射频识别RFID标签,包括:
第一天线,所述第一天线配置为以第一频率操作;
RFID载带装置;
其中,所述第一天线耦合至所述RFID载带装置,所述RFID载带装置包括:
第一载带导体,所述第一载带导体包括一对载带垫和RFID芯片;
第二导体,所述第二导体配置成作为第二天线以与所述第一频率不同的第二频率操作,并且还配置为充当跨载带垫的电感器,以改善所述RFID芯片与所述第一天线之间的阻抗匹配;以及
位于所述第一载带导体和所述第二导体之间的电介质。
2.根据权利要求1所述的RFID标签,其中,所述第一天线位于基部衬底上。
3.根据权利要求1所述的RFID标签,其中,所述第二导体还配置为进行操作以改善所述RFID芯片与所述第一载带导体之间的阻抗匹配。
4.根据权利要求1所述的RFID标签,其中,所述第二导体通过所述电介质经由电容耦合至所述第一载带导体。
5.根据权利要求1所述的RFID标签,其中,所述第二导体经由直接欧姆连接手段耦合至所述第一载带导体。
6.根据权利要求5所述的RFID标签,其中,所述直接欧姆连接手段包括机械压接、电化学过程或填充有导电油墨的一个或多个孔。
7.一种将第二导体结合到射频识别RFID载带装置中的方法,该方法包括:
提供包括一对载带垫的第一载带导体;
将RFID芯片连接至所述一对载带垫;
提供所述第二导体;
将电介质定位在所述第一载带导体和所述第二导体之间;
所述第一载带导体、所述第二导体和所述电介质从而形成所述RFID载带装置;和
将所述RFID载带装置耦合至第一天线,所述第一天线配置为以第一频率操作,
其中,所述第二导体配置成作为第二天线以与所述第一频率不同的第二频率操作,并且还配置为充当跨载带垫的电感器,以改善所述RFID芯片与所述第一天线之间的阻抗匹配。
8.根据权利要求7所述的方法,其中,所述第二导体还配置为进行操作以改善所述RFID芯片与所述第一载带导体之间的阻抗匹配。
