Abstract

技术领域
本公开涉及用于锂离子装置,如可再充电锂离子电池中的电极活性材料。
背景技术
锂离子电池,也称为Li离子电池或LIB,被广泛用于消费电子产品,例如移动电话、平板计算机和笔记本计算机中。LIB还用于其它领域,诸如军事用途、电动车辆和航空航天应用。在电池放电期间,锂离子(Li离子)从高能的负极材料通过电解质和隔板行进到低能的正极材料。在充电期间,能量被用于将Li离子转移回高能的负极组件。电池的充电和放电过程是缓慢的过程,并且可以随时间降解电池内的化合物。快速充电致使电池组分的加速降解,以及由于局部的、过电位积聚和增加的热量产生所造成的潜在的火灾危险,这可能点燃内部组件并导致爆炸。
典型的锂离子电池负极主要包含石墨。与仅含有石墨的负极相比,作为负极合金组分的硅通常表现出更高的锂吸收能力。然而,此类含硅电极通常表现出较差的寿命周期以及由于在与锂合金化时和从合金中提取锂时硅的机械膨胀,降低的硅合金体积所造成的较差的库仑效率。这种机械不稳定性导致材料破碎成碎片。
发明内容
本发明的一些实施方式可以涉及锂离子装置,并且具体地涉及用于锂离子装置的负极。根据本发明的一些实施方式的用于锂离子装置的负极材料可以包括含有硅和硼的活性材料。在一些实施方式中,硅的重量百分比可以为负极材料的总重量的约4至35重量%,且硼的重量百分比可以为负极材料的总重量的约2至20重量%。在一些实施方式中,硅的重量百分比可以为负极材料的总重量的约5至约25重量%,且硼的重量百分比可以为负极材料的总重量的约5至约18重量%。
用于生产Li离子装置的负极的活性材料可以以活性材料的总重量的约5至47重量%的重量百分比包含硅且以活性材料的总重量的约3至25重量%的重量百分比包含硼。在一些实施例中,活性材料可以包含碳。在一些实施例中,活性材料可以另外以活性材料总重量的约6至约25重量%的重量百分比包含钨。

本发明的实施例描述了用于锂离子装置的负极、用于制造负极的活性材料(负极夹层化合物)和锂离子装置。术语活性材料在本文中是指与锂离子化学活性的合金化材料。锂离子装置可以包括锂离子电池(Li离子电池或LIB)、Li离子电容器(LIC)、包括电池和电容器两者的Li离子混合系统等。
活性材料可以包括包含石墨(C)、硅(Si)和硼(B)的合金。可以将碳、硅和硼一起研磨以形成合金。可以使用用于形成合金的其它方法。在一些实施方式中,活性材料可以另外包括碳化钨(WC)颗粒形式的钨(W)。在一些实施方式中,活性材料可以包括包含石墨(C)、硅(Si)和钨(W)的合金。
根据本发明的实施方式,负极的组合物可以包含如本文详细描述的活性负极材料、粘合剂和/或增塑剂(例如聚偏二氟乙烯(PVDF))和导电剂(例如炭黑和碳纳米管(CNT))。
根据一些实施方式,硅的重量百分比可以为负极材料的总重量的约4至35重量%,且硼的重量百分比可以为负极材料的总重量的约2至20重量%。根据其它实施方式,硅的重量百分比可以为负极材料的总重量的约4至35重量%,以及钨的重量百分比可以为负极材料的总重量的约2至20重量%。在一些实施方式中,硅的重量百分比可以为负极材料的总重量的约5至25重量%,硼的重量百分比可以为负极材料的总重量的约5至18重量%。活性材料中的碳(处于石墨的形式)的重量百分比可以为负极材料的总重量的约5至60重量%,例如在7至48重量%。
参考图1,其示出了根据本发明的一些实施方式的示例性锂离子装置。锂离子装置100可以包括如本文详细描述的负极110、正极120和适合于锂离子装置的电解质130。示例性锂离子装置的非限制性列表可以为Li离子电池、Li离子电容器和包括电池和电容器两者的Li离子混合系统。电解质130可以为液体、固体或凝胶的形式。固体电解质的示例包括聚合物电解质,如聚氧化乙烯、含氟聚合物和共聚物(例如,聚四氟乙烯)和它们的组合。液体电解质的示例包括碳酸亚乙酯、碳酸二乙酯、碳酸亚丙酯、氟代碳酸亚乙酯(FEC)和它们的组合。电解质可以提供有锂电解质盐。合适的盐的实例包括LiPF6、LiBF4、双(草酸)硼酸锂、LiN(CF3SO2)2、LiN(C2F5SO2)2、LiAsF6、LiC(CF3SO2)3、LiClO4和LiTFSI。正极120可以包含适用于锂离子装置中的正极组合物。合适的正极组合物的实例可以包括LiCoO2、LiCo0.33Mn0.33Ni0.33O2、LiMn2O4和LiFePO4。
在一些实施方式中,锂离子装置100可以另外包括隔板(未示出)。隔板可以配置为分隔负极和正极之间。根据本发明的一些实施方式的示例性隔板可以包括聚乙烯(PE)、聚丙烯(PP)等。
根据本发明的实施方式的负极110,当并入锂离子装置如电池中时,相对常用的基于Si的负极表现出改善的循环寿命和库仑效率。也改善了负极的机械稳定性(在第一次循环之后或在几次初始循环之后实现)以及因此的锂离子装置的机械稳定性。这种稳定性被认为归因于在充电-放电过程期间钨和/或硼并入到膨胀中的硅-锂合金中。这种并入可以有助于防止由于相对强的锂-钨和/或锂-硼结合而在充电期间的锂的金属化。这种强结合可以产生部分带电的组件,这可以有助于增强负极的稳定性和循环寿命。
硼和/或钨的存在可以促进硅的电化学利用,并且基本上可以减少硅进入电极基板中的迁移。此外,碳化硼可以增强Li原子的结合能(硼的结合能大于锂金属的内聚能)并且可以防止锂在较高的锂掺杂浓度下聚集。
对负极在电化学反应中的氧化惰性的碳化硼与硅,氧化硅和锂相互作用。锂离子可以与碳化硼反应以形成碳化锂、硼化锂和四硼酸锂,从而使Li离子部分带电。Li-Si-C合金中的这种部分电荷可以在锂离子的提取和插入期间稳定整体结构。
具有天然存在的氧化硅-碳复合材料的碳化钨可以改善负极的电化学行为。碳化钨可以作为氢(H+)离子屏障并且进一步作为Si/C结构内部的δ+中心。δ+中心可以捕获Li离子以进一步防止Li的金属化。
负极的制备可以包括研磨和/或混合过程。在一些实施方式中,可以将硅粉末和石墨粉末插入高能球磨机中以在保护性气氛或非保护性气氛下研磨。在一些实施方式中,可以将碳化硼(B4C)粉末加入研磨机内部的预研磨Si/C混合物中。研磨机可以包括可以以以1000-1500RPM搅拌的硬化氧化铝介质。研磨阶段可以产生具有约20-100nm粒度的纳米尺寸颗粒的合金。在一些实施方式中,可以在研磨过程末尾将含有纳米尺寸碳化钨(WC)颗粒的乳液加入研磨的粉末(Si/C或SI/C/B合金)中以生产用于负极的活性材料。碳化钨粒度可以为约20至60nm。如本文在使用的,“纳米尺寸”颗粒是指具有小于1微米的平均粒粒度的颗粒,在实施方式中,“纳米尺寸”是指具有小于100nm的平均粒度的颗粒。
用于制备用于Li离子装置(例如,装置100)如电池的负极的活性材料可以包含硅-碳-硼-钨合金、硅-碳-硼合金或硅-碳-钨合金。可以向合金中加入另外的聚合物粘合剂和导电添加剂以形成最终的负极材料。根据本发明的实施方式的示例性负极可以以负极材料的总重量的约5至10重量%的重量百分比包含导电材料和以负极材料的总重量的约5至10重量%的重量百分比包含粘合剂材料。示例性的导电元件可以包括球形碳、碳纳米管和/或石墨烯颗粒。
在一些实施方式中,活性材料可以包含硅-碳-硼合金,其中,硅的重量百分比可以为活性材料总重量的约5至约47重量%、硼的重量百分比可以为活性材料总重量的约3至约25重量%以及碳的重量百分比可以为活性材料总重量的约7至约75重量%。在一些实施方式中,碳的重量百分比可以为活性材料总重量的约10至约60重量%。

在一些实施方式中,负极材料可以另外以负极总重量的约0.05至0.5重量%的重量百分比包含碳纳米管(CNT)。碳纳米管可以替代碳化钨颗粒或除碳化钨颗粒之外被添加到负极材料。因此,合金材料可以包含负极材料的总重量的0.06-0.8重量%的碳纳米管。示例性负极材料可以包括0.1-0.3重量%的单棒碳纳米管。
实例
参考图2,其示出了根据本发明的一些实施方式的用于包含硼的基于硅的负极的示例性锂离子半电池的第一循环充电-放电曲线。半电池的电压被表示为以mAh/g计的充电值的函数。示例性的负极材料包括(以负极的总重量的重量百分比计)48%的C、30%的Si、5.5%的B、8.3%的粘合剂和8.2%的导电添加剂(C0.48Si0.30B0.055粘合剂0.083导电添加剂0.082)。所研磨的C/Si/B合金(即活性材料)包含合金的总重量的重量百分比57%的C、36%的Si和7%的B(C0.57Si0.36B0.07)。观察图2的图表,充电产生792mAh/g,且放电产生760mAh/g,得到96%的第一循环效率。第一循环效率被定义为第一放电量除以第一充电量。应注意,在放电曲线内,存在其中电流为正但电位差下降的区域。这种“相反行为”可以能是由于内部自重组;因此,从充放电计算中去除该区域。
参考图3,其示出了根据本发明的一些实施方式的用于包含钨的基于硅的负极的示例性锂离子半电池的第一循环充电-放电曲线。半电池的电压被表示为以mAh/g计的充电值的函数。示例性负极材料包括以负极总重量的重量百分比计的41.3%的C、30.1%的Si、11.6%的W、8.4%的粘合剂和8.6%的导电添加剂(C0.413Si0.301W0.116粘合剂0.084导电添加剂0.086)。活性材料包括以合金的总重量的重量百分比计的50%的C、36%的Si和14%的W(C0.50Si0.36W0.14)。观察图3的曲线,充电产生1803mAh/g,放电产生1600mAh/g,导致88.7%的第一循环效率。再次注意,如图2所示,在放电曲线内,存在其中电流为正但电位差下降的区域。这种“相反行为”可以能是由于内部自重组;因此,从充放电计算中去除该区域。对于相同量的Si(30%),添加B产生比添加W更高的效率。
根据一些实施方式,硼和钨两者都是负极的一部分。图4显示示出了根据本发明的一些实施方式的包含硼和钨的基于硅的负极的示例性锂离子半电池的前20个循环的充电-放电曲线的图表。半电池的电压被表示为归一化电荷(由最高值归一化)的函数。示例性负极材料包括以负极的总重量的重量百分比计的42%的C、30%的Si、5.0%的B、10.0%的W、10%的粘合剂和3%的导电添加剂(C0.42Si0.3B0.05W0.1粘合剂0.1导电添加剂0.03)。活性材料包括以合金总重量的重量百分比计的48.3%的C、34.5%的Si、5.7%的B和10.5%的W(C0.483Si0.345B0.057W0.105)。所计算的第一循环效率为92%,然而,寿命周期效率为98.5-100%。

Claims (27)

其中,所述硅的重量百分比为所述负极材料的总重量的4至35重量%,且所述硼的重量百分比为所述负极材料的总重量的2至20重量%;并且
将碳化硼(B4C)粉末加入预研磨的Si/C混合物中以产生具有20-100nm粒度的纳米尺寸颗粒的合金。
2.根据权利要求1所述的负极材料,其中,所述活性材料进一步以所述负极材料的总重量的5至60重量%的重量百分比包含碳。
3.根据权利要求1所述的负极材料,其中,所述活性材料进一步以所述负极材料的总重量的5至20重量%的重量百分比包含钨。

具有包含硅和硼的活性材料和负极材料的总重量的0.05至0.5重量%的重量百分比的碳纳米管CNT的负极,其中,所述硅的重量百分比为所述负极的总重量的4至35重量%,且所述硼的重量百分比为所述负极的总重量的2至20重量%,将碳化硼(B4C)粉末加入预研磨的Si/C混合物中以产生具有20-100nm粒度的纳米尺寸颗粒的合金;
