背景技术
在包装和运送工业中,包裹的体积和重量被计算用于确定运送成本,用于确定装载包裹到运输车辆上的策略,以及用于其它空间管理应用。立方体或矩形盒的体积可通过测量盒子的长度、宽度、和高度来计算。圆柱体盒的体积可通过测量盒子的长度和圆周/直径来计算。在尺寸器之前,这些测量由手来完成,如果若干包裹要被测量则这可能是耗费时间的。

发明内容
因此,本发明包含用于校准体积尺寸器的系统和方法。在一个方面,校准系统可包括尺寸器和参考物体。尺寸器配置为远距离感测物体的特性并根据所感测的特性来计算物体的物理尺寸。参考物体包括预定义的物理尺寸且具有展示参考记号的图案的外表面。尺寸器配置为使用参考物体作为用于比较的基础来进行校准。

本发明涉及校准尺寸器的系统和方法,所述尺寸器是用于在不实际触摸物体的情况下计算物体的体积的设备。在其中消费者基于包裹或箱子的体积来被收费的系统中,重要的是,用于测量体积的设备在特定容差内是准确的。

在操作中,图像传感器32配置为捕获针对其尺寸将被确定的物体的一个或多个图像。一个或多个图像可以被显示在显示屏28上。诸如“计算体积”或其它类似命令的选项可以是对于用户可用的,并且可以在显示屏28上示出。如果用户希望针对所显示的物体确定体积,则用户可以按下按钮或录入语音命令(例如,使用用户输入设备30中的一个或多个)、触摸显示屏28的区域、或使用其它合适的输入设备来录入输入。
当由用户命令以计算物体的尺寸或体积时,便携式量尺寸设备24处理图像信息和距离信息。通过使用量尺寸算法,便携式量尺寸设备24计算物体的体积。该体积可以显示在显示屏28上。所显示的体积可以以mm3、cm3、inch3为单位,或以其它合适的测量单位为单位,并且可以是可由用户选择的。可替换地,尺寸可以被显示。
图3是可选地由尺寸器(例如,便携式量尺寸设备24)感测的物体38的透视图。在该示例中,物体38从透视图观察,使得它的六个面中的三个看得见。根据该相同的透视图,物体38的八个拐角中的七个看得见,并且它的十二条边中的九条看得见。
根据图3的可选地感测的视图,尺寸器配置为构造物体38的接线框视图40,如图4中示出的。接线框视图40包括拐角和边,其如从图3的透视图观看的直接看得见。此外,尺寸器能够填充第八个拐角和三个遮断的边以完成接线框视图40的构造。

图5是根据本公开的教导的参考物体50的实施例的等距视图。在一些实施例中,校准系统可以包括两个或更多的参考物体,其具有不同的大小和形状。在校准系统中使用多个参考物体将允许尺寸器基于参考的更大集合来校准,这可以提供更有效的校准。

块136指示参考物体的所测量的尺寸(即,在块118中获得的尺寸)与参考尺寸信息(例如,块134中获得的尺寸)比较。在所测量和实际尺寸之间的差异被显示,如在块138中指示的。
根据决定块140,确定了所测量的尺寸是否在参考尺寸信息的可接受容差内。如果误差或差异是最小的(例如,小于1%),则该方法继续进行到块142。在块142中指示了没有改变是需要的。而且,输出设备可以向用户显示或指示该尺寸器可接受用于继续使用,并且不需要校准。
如果所测量的尺寸不在可接受的容差内,则方法继续进行到决定块144,其指示确定是否允许自校准。如果需要校准,但不允许自校准,则尺寸器设备应该被发送到认证机构用于重新认证,如块146中指示的。用于发送到认证机构的指令和细节可以呈现在尺寸器的显示器上。如果允许自校准但根据决定块148没有使能自校准,则方法也继续进行到块146,使得尺寸器可以由认证机构重新认证。
如果允许并使能自校准,则方法继续进行到在决定块150中指示的步骤。在该步骤中,确定误差或差异是否超过最大极限。例如,大于5%的差异可以指示尺寸器不能够自校准至这样的程度。在这种情况下,该方法继续进行到块152且向用户指示不能够执行自校准。在一些实施例中,设备可能不能够自校准,但它可以被发送到认证机构(例如,块146)来被校准。如果在决定块150中确定的误差不超过最大极限,则方法继续进行到块154。

Claims (16)
1.一种尺寸器,包括:
至少一个传感器,配置为远距离感测物体的特性;
处理设备;以及
量尺寸单元,配置为使得处理设备能够根据所感测的特性来计算物体的物理尺寸;
其中,量尺寸单元包括参考物体检测模块,其配置为使得处理设备能够在感测到参考物体时进行检测,所述参考物体包括预定义的物理尺寸;以及
其中量尺寸单元进一步包括自校准模块,其配置为使用参考物体作为用于比较的基础来校准尺寸器。
2.如权利要求1所述的尺寸器,其中至少一个传感器包括图像传感器、距离感测设备、和扫描设备中的至少一个。
3.如权利要求1所述的尺寸器,其中参考物体包括展示参考记号的图案的外表面。
4.如权利要求3所述的尺寸器,其中量尺寸单元配置为通过远距离感测参考物体的预定义物理尺寸并对参考记号的图案解码来校准尺寸器。
5.如权利要求3所述的尺寸器,其中量尺寸单元进一步配置为比较参考记号的图案的所感测的物理尺寸与参考记号的图案的实际预定义的物理尺寸。
6.如权利要求1所述的尺寸器,其中量尺寸单元进一步配置为比较参考物体的所感测的物理尺寸与关于参考物体的实际的物理尺寸的解码后的信息。
7.如权利要求1所述的尺寸器,其中量尺寸单元配置为对来自参考物体的条形码和RFID标签中的至少一个解码,以确定参考物体的至少一个实际的物理尺寸和参考物体是真的校验。
8.如权利要求1所述的尺寸器,其中量尺寸单元配置为对来自参考物体的条形码、RFID标签、和数字水印中的至少一个解码,以将唯一标识码确定为参考物体是真的校验。
9.如权利要求1所述的尺寸器,其中自校准模块配置为基于在参考物体的所计算的物理尺寸与参考物体的实际物理尺寸之间的比较来计算误差,并且如果误差在预先确定的极限以下则执行自校准操作。
10.如权利要求1所述的尺寸器,进一步包括配置为从站点下载量尺寸能力的网络接口。
11.如权利要求1所述的尺寸器,进一步包括用于远距离感测物体和参考物体的特性的摄像机、红外摄像机和距离传感器中的至少一个。
12.一种方法,包括:
使用尺寸器来远距离感测参考物体的特性,参考物体包括预定义的物理尺寸和展示参考记号的外表面,参考记号还具有预定义的物理尺寸;
根据所感测的特性来计算参考物体和参考记号的物理尺寸;
比较所计算的物理尺寸与预定义的物理尺寸以确定误差值;以及
校准尺寸器以补偿误差值。
13.如权利要求12所述的方法,进一步包括感测位于参考物体的外表面上的数字水印和条形码中的至少一个的步骤,条形码和数字水印中的至少一个包括至少关于参考物体的实际物理尺寸的编码信息。
14.如权利要求12所述的方法,进一步包括感测隐藏在参考物体中的射频标识(RFID)标签的步骤,RFID标签包括至少关于参考物体的实际物理尺寸的编码信息。
15.如权利要求12所述的方法,进一步包括校验参考物体是有效的步骤。
16.如权利要求12所述的方法,进一步包括以下步骤:
远距离感测第二参考物体的特性;
计算第二参考物体的物理尺寸;
比较第二参考物体的所计算的物理尺寸与预定义的物理尺寸以确定第二误差值;以及
进一步校准尺寸器以补偿第二误差值。
