技术领域

背景技术
某些干产品对于潮气是高度敏感的,因为这些产品能由于吸收潮气而降低品质。例如,奶粉以及婴儿配方食品(infant formulation)包含不稳定的维生素,这些不稳定的维生素可能在达到过度的潮气水平时迅速地降低品质。作为进一步的和更极端的例子,申请人已经发现,某些类型的营养/调味奶添加剂对潮气极端敏感,要求由于吸收潮气而变得不能使用的重量增加小于2%。
其它产品对氧非常敏感,因为这些产品在暴露于氧时降低品质。属于这一类的产品包括,例如速溶咖啡、婴儿配方食品、奶粉、饮料浓缩物(drink concentrate)。这些产品中很多也对潮气敏感。
为了避免与潮气和/或氧接触,上面描述的这些类型的产品传统地并且现在仍然是被包装在不透气地密封的金属罐(hermetically sealed metalcan)中。为了方便取用、高性能再密封以及防篡改(tamper evidence),这些金属罐一般包括被称为“极薄环形件和箔(tagger ring and foil)”(TRF)封闭系统的封闭系统。
传统的TRF系统包括形式为“环形件”的第一部件、形式为“杠杆插入物(lever plug)”的第二部件以及形式为箔板的第三部件。
传统的TRF系统的环形件适合于通过罐制造领域所理解的双接缝(double seaming)工艺密封到罐主体,并且同样依据已知技术包括流入的密封剂(flowed-in sealant)。该密封剂一般为橡胶成分,其在压缩下提供想要的密封性质。该环形件进一步包括中心孔口。该孔口由具有延伸进入容器的边缘的环形壁界定。
传统的TRF系统的杠杆插入物包括平坦的面板,该面板被造型成使用过盈配合封闭孔口。杠杆插入物进一步包括凸缘,在插入物被定位在孔口中时,该凸缘从面板向外延伸至孔口的垂直壁上方。该凸缘防止插入物被推进罐中,并使得有可能通过合适的工具比如汤匙将插入物撬离罐,从而得以取用罐中的内容物。

传统的TRF系统的箔位于罐的内部,并从环形件上的接缝凸缘(seaming flange)延伸跨越罐的整个端部。该箔被限制在接缝凸缘中,并且在密封时被封装在双接缝中。该箔可以通过在箔的边缘上方施加密封材料而被限制。
在使用中,该箔提供用于罐的内容物的不透气的密封,直到消费者打开罐并破裂该箔。此后,环形件和杠杆插入物之间的过盈配合使得有可能用充足的防潮层(moisture barrier)将罐再密封,以便在接下来移开杠杆插入物并从罐中移走内容物且然后将杠杆插入物插回罐中并将罐再密封的循环中保持产品质量。
为了强度的原因,铝箔传统地被用作传统的TRF封闭系统中的箔。然而,铝箔是昂贵的。另外,在箔被破裂以使能够通向罐内时,铝箔可能形成尖锐边缘,并且该尖锐边缘在消费者从罐移走罐中内容物时可能割伤消费者。本申请人已经发现,从罐的可销售性来看,这是特别严重的问题。另外,在增加环境意识的时代,在金属罐比如钢罐中使用铝箔作为密封件是不理想的,因为在回收利用金属罐时铝是杂质。
由于上面的原因,存在对于传统的TRF封闭系统的替换物的需要,该替换物根本不包括铝箔的使用,或者和传统的TRF封闭系统中铝的量相比至少能减少TRF系统中铝的量,并且该替换物可以被用在常规的用于罐或其它容器的制造工艺中。
具体地,存在对于传统的TRF封闭系统的替换物的需要,该替换物能解决在传统的TRF封闭系统的铝箔破裂时形成尖锐边缘的问题。

发明内容
依据本发明,提供了一种用于容器比如罐的极薄环形箔(TRF)封闭系统的箔,该箔包括由不同材料而不仅是铝制成的两层或更多层的复合材料。
优选地,形成复合材料箔的层和这些层的组合的材料被选择成使得在使用中,在箔为容器上的TRF封闭系统的一部分且箔被破裂以便有机会获得容器的内容物时,该破裂的箔不形成可能割伤消费者的尖锐边缘。
优选地,形成复合材料箔的层和这些层的组合的材料选择成使得箔能够在包括形成带有TRF封闭系统的容器的常规容器制造工艺中被处理。

另外,申请人已经发现,该复合材料箔使得能够减少传统的TRF封闭系统的铝箔的铝,如果不是完全替换的话,同时仍保持隔离潮气和氧的性能,并且能够用包括形成带有TRF封闭系统的容器的常规容器制造工艺来处理箔。
优选地,该复合材料箔包括下列层的复合材料:纸层、第一聚合物层、金属(包括金属合金)层以及第二聚合物层。以此种布置,纸层的主要功能是:(a)低体积成本,(b)高拉伸强度以允许接缝而不破裂,(c)容易撕开以便消费者能取用容器中的内容物,以及(d)最小化消费者被破裂的复合材料箔的暴露边缘割伤的风险。第一聚合物的主要功能是将纸层和金属箔层粘在一起。金属层和第二聚合物层中的每一个的主要功能是提供隔离潮气和氧的性质。

图1示出了已知技术的传统的TRF封闭系统。
传统的TRF系统包括环形件1、插入物5和箔9。
传统的TRF系统的环形件1包括接缝卷边2、界定孔口以允许通向容器的垂直密封表面3以及箔的面向内的切割边缘4。
传统的TRF系统的插入物5包括面板6、实质上垂直的密封表面7以及向外延伸的凸缘8,该凸缘8允许插入物从环形件的孔口被撬开。

图2更详细地示出了传统的TRF系统的关键密封区域。
图3示出了本发明的复合材料箔17的一个实施方式。该复合材料箔包括连续的层,即纸层1、聚合物层2、铝箔层3以及另一聚合物层4。
纸可以为任何合适的纸。合适的纸包括35gsm或50克/每平方米(gsm)的由Australia Paper(澳大利亚纸业)生产的漂白牛皮纸层。另外的选择包括从25gsm到100gsm范围的每平方米克重。纸层1的功能是:(a)低体积成本,(b)高拉伸强度以允许接缝而不破裂,(c)容易撕开以便消费者取用,以及(d)最小化消费者被破裂的复合材料箔的暴露边缘割伤的风险。
聚合物层2包括以下材料的共挤压的共聚物:(a)层2的与纸层1接合的部分中的低密度聚乙烯(LDPE);以及(b)与铝箔邻接的乙烯丙烯酸树脂。LDPE层为层2的总厚度的大约2/3。层2的厚度范围为从8μm到30μm,并且优选为12μm。聚合物层2设置成将纸层1和铝箔层3粘合在一起。LDPE基于其粘附到纸的能力选择,而乙烯丙烯酸树脂基于其粘附到铝的能力选择。
复合材料箔中的铝箔层3的厚度为30μm,但是可以设想其厚度范围为从15μm到60μm。铝箔的功能是提供高度的氧和潮气隔离性质,这两种性质对于未打开的容器的长期贮藏稳定性是重要的。铝箔层3也有利于复合材料箔的力学性质。
底部层4为共挤压的共聚物。底部层包括:(a)填充有30%的滑石的LDPE,以削弱总体结构,同时该材料形成复合材料箔的暴露表面,以及(b)融合有马来酸酐的乙烯甲基或丙烯酸丁酯的三元共聚物,以便将层4粘附到铝箔层3。优选地,该层的厚度为20μm,但可以设想其范围为从15μm到50μm。底部层4的重要功能是保护箔层3的铝不被氧化以及其它不期望发生的化学反应,并提供被认可用于直接与食物接触的材料层。
箔测试结果
接下来的例子说明了合适的板爆破强度和抗环压碎压力的重要性,这些例子涉及在一组样品上的测试工作。
在这些例子中:
样品的厚度使用AS1301.426s测量。
样品的板爆破强度使用依据AS1301.438s的板爆破测试测量。
样品的环压碎力使用AS1301.407s中描述的试验方法测量。
依据本发明的复合材料箔样品的环压碎力在箔样品的纸层的横向测量,同样依据AS1301.407s中描述的。箔样品包括下列层:纸、第一聚合物、铝箔以及第二聚合物。
样品的切割能力基于该测试是涉及环压碎力除以被压碎的样品的横截面面积的假设来评估。如AS1301.407.S中说明的,环压碎力样品的长度为152mm。从所测量的环压碎力和样品的长度以及样品的厚度,下文称为“抗环压碎压力”的参数通过将所测量的环压碎力除以152mm和所测量的厚度来确定。注意,长度和厚度提供确定压力所需的截面面积。
样品切割手指的能力通过实验室技术人员使用“指尖硬度”测试确定样品对于他的/她的指尖有多硬来主观确定。
爆破被选定作为板爆破测试时的测试,其涉及驱动直径大约25mm的橡胶隔膜通过材料板的液压活塞,其被认为复制了消费者试图通过罐上的TRF封闭系统的未断裂的箔板爆破以有机会获得罐的内容物。
按照上文描述的,测量和测试了一系列铝和复合材料箔样品。不同样品的切割能力被主观地评估。
接收的样品为100μm、90μm、60μm、30μm和15μm的名义厚度的铝箔样品。将此种传统的箔材料的性能与如上文描述的依据本发明的复合材料箔的一个实施方式的性能作对比。该复合材料箔具有120μm的名义厚度。
如下表1示出了测试的结果。

虽然没有测量15μm样品的板爆破强度,但是依据AS1301.403s对该样品做了类似的纸爆破测试测量。量得的值为77KPa。总体地,板爆破和纸爆破强度具有宽泛的可比性,例如,复合材料箔样品具有312KPa的纸爆破强度以及343KPa的板爆破强度。
表1表明:
传统的铝箔样品的板爆破强度和抗环压碎压力随着厚度的减小而显著地减小。然而,尽管这些结果显示,减小用在传统的TRF封闭系统中的铝箔的厚度是最小化当前切割问题的一种选择,但从当前的罐生产线上制造的观点看这不是一种选择。
传统的铝箔的指尖硬度也随着铝的厚度的改变而改变,从硬变到软。
如上面表示的,板爆破强度和抗环压碎压力的性质为指尖硬度的良好指标。结果显示,对于板爆破强度和抗环压碎压力,400KPa和10MPa的值分别是软样品和硬样品之间近似的分界线。
可以对已示出的本发明进行很多修改而不背离本发明的精神和范围。
Claims (3)
1.一种箔,其用于容器比如罐的极薄环形箔(TRF)封闭系统,所述箔包括由不同的材料而不仅是铝制成的两层或更多层的复合材料,形成复合材料箔的层以及层的组合的材料被选择成使得所述箔具有板爆破强度和/或横向抗环压碎压力,当使用澳大利亚标准(AS)1301.438s测量时,所述板爆破强度小于400Kpa,所述横向抗环压碎压力定义为使用AS1301.407s测量的环压碎力除以0.152并乘以使用AS1301.426s测量的箔厚度,所述横向抗环压碎压力小于10Mpa,使得在使用中,当所述箔为容器上的极薄环形箔封闭系统的一部分并且所述箔被破裂以有机会获得容器的内容物时,破裂的箔不形成可能割伤消费者的尖锐边缘。
2.一种极薄环形箔(TRF)封闭系统,所述极薄环形箔(TRF)封闭系统包括权利要求1所述的箔。
3.一种容器,其包括权利要求2所述的极薄环形箔(TRF)封闭系统。
