Abstract
Un método para producir astaxantina, que comprende: (a) adquirir células vegetativas de Haematococcus pluvialis productor de astaxantina; (b) cultivar heterótrofamente las células vegetativas de Haematococcus pluvialis productor de astaxantina en un medio de cultivo pobre en nutrientes que contiene una fuente de carbono orgánico y en condiciones sin luz, para obtener células de esporas; y (c) recolectar las células de esporas y/o la astaxantina y, opcionalmente, purificar la astaxantina. También se proporciona un medio de cultivo utilizado en el método descrito.
