<p>Un filtro de flujo a través de las paredes multifuncional y un sistema que tiene la misma realización de remoción de compuestos nocivos que comprenden óxidos de nitrógeno, compuestos orgánicos volátiles y monóxido de carbono y material particulado del gas de escape de un motor de ignición por compresión al realizar una serie de pasos de (a) adición de una cantidad de agente reductor de SCR en forma de gotitas de una solución acuosa de urea al gas de escape; (b) introducción del gas de escape mezclado con las gotitas de la solución acuosa de urea dentro de canales de entrada de un filtro de flujo a través de las paredes y oxidación de los compuestos orgánicos volátiles y monóxido de carbono a dióxido de carbono y agua y monóxido de nitrógeno a dióxido de nitrógeno en presencia de un catalizador de oxidación dispuesto sobre paredes de partición porosas permeables en el lado de entrada del filtro de flujo a través de las paredes, el catalizador de oxidación activo en; (c) evaporación y descomposición subsecuentes de las gotitas de la solución acuosa de urea en el gas de escape del paso (b) a amoníaco; (d) paso del gas de escape que contiene el amoníaco a través de las paredes de partición porosas permeables del filtro de flujo a través de las paredes a canales de salida del filtro y captura del material particulado sobre la superficie de las paredes de partición porosas permeables que están orientadas hacia los canales de entrada del filtro; (e) remoción continuamente del material particulado capturado por medio de la reacción con el dióxido de nitrógeno contenido en el gas de escape; y (f) remoción subsecuentemente de cantidades restantes de dióxido de nitrógeno del gas de escape por medio de la reacción con amoníaco en presencia de un catalizador activo de SCR dispuesto dentro de las paredes de partición porosas permeables al gas y/o sobre el lado de la pared que está orientado hacia los canales de salida del filtro particulado de flujo a través de las paredes.</p>
