Process for the preparation of a real vat dye. The invention is based on the observation that if the condensation products formed from the condensation of the thio derivatives of the p-quinones and their 13alogen substitution products (described in German Patent No. 175070) with arylamines are treated with acids, valuable vat dyes be obtained, which in particular dye the animal fiber in the vat in full dark nuances.
The subject of the present patent is a process for the preparation of a real vat dye by treating the condensation product formed by the condensation of quinone monothiosulfonic acid with bp-phenetidine with acids.
This treatment with acids can take place simultaneously with the condensation of the quinone monothiosulfonic acid with p-phenetidine in one operation or it can only be carried out after the condensation of the quinone monothiosulfonic acid with p-phenetidine in indifferent media has been completed. The treatment of the condensation product of quinone monothiosulfonic acid and p-phenetidine with acids can also take place in the presence of a reducing agent.
Example 1: 15.6 kg of quinone monothiosate potassium and 5.6 kg of p-phenetidine are introduced into 150 kg of glacial acetic acid and the mixture is stirred at 70-100 ° C. for several hours. After cooling, it is suctioned off and Wash the suction well with water. The paste obtained in this way is immediately suitable for dyeing. When dried, the dye is a brown powder that is soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid with a blue color. The dye dyes wool from the hydrosulfite vat really deep red-brown.
Example 2 15.6 kg of quinone monothiosulfonic acid potassium, 5.6 kg of p-phenetidine, 300 kg of alcohol are boiled on the reflux condenser for several hours until the yellowing of the condensation product has ended. After cooling, it is suctioned off and the condensation product obtained in this way is then stirred into about 300 kg of diluted, about 50% acetic acid and heated to 80-100 for a few hours. It is left to cool, filtered and dried. The dye obtained in this way is identical to that obtained in Example 1.
Example 3: 10 kg of the dry and powdered condensation product obtained in the first phase of Example 2 are dissolved in approximately ten times the amount of concentrated sulfuric acid (66 Be) at the usual temperature, stirred for a longer time and as soon as a Test staining shows that the shade no longer deepens, poured onto ice, filtered and washed neutral. The paste obtained in this way can be used immediately for coloring.
The dye dyes wool in the vat similar to the dye described in Example 1.
Example 4: The condensation product obtained in the first phase of Example 2 is mixed with about 200 liters of water and 50 kg of concentrated hydrochloric acid; To do this, gradually add about 10 kg of zinc dust while cooling and leave the whole thing to itself for a longer period of time. As soon as a test staining shows that there is no further deepening of the shade of brown, it is vacuumed and washed neutral; the paste obtained in this way is suitable for immediate use.
The dye dyes wool in the hydrosulfite vat similar to the dye described in Example 1.
