Process for the preparation of a vat dye% s. The main patent relates to a process for the production of a high quality dye of the anthraquinone series, in which one has 4 - bromine antlirachinone-1 (N), 2-pyridone
EMI0001.0012
with 1-amino - 4 - benzoylaminoanthraquinone and the initially formed anthrimidart,
gen dye with acidic condensation agents such as aluminum chloride treated.
This dye dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a red-violet color and, on cotton made from red-brown güpe, provides olive dyeings with very good fastness properties, especially high light and chlorine fastness.
It has now been found that a new valuable quality dye of the anthraquinone series is also obtained if 4-bromo-anthraquinone-1 (N),
2-pyridone is reacted with 1-amino-5-benzoylaminoanthrmhinone and the anthrimide-like dye that is initially formed is treated with acidic condensation agents such as aluminum chloride.
The reaction is generally carried out at an elevated temperature and expediently in the presence of a diluent.
Here, too, it is advantageous to add alkali acetates or other basic salts in the first stage of the reaction.
The new dye dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a blue color and produces brown dyeings on cotton from a brown vat. very good fastness properties, especially high light and chlorine fastness.
Example: A mixture of i parts of 4-bromoanthraquinone -1 (N), 2-pyridone, 140 parts of nitrobenzene, 7.2 parts of 1-amino-5-benzoylamino-authraquinone, 3 .9 parts of potassium acetate and 0.05 parts of copper acetate are heated to the boil until unchanged bromopyridone is no longer detectable. The vacuumed after cooling,
The washed and dried compound is optionally after boiling with 111onoehlorbenzol or another organic solvent with the same amount of aluminum chloride and four times the amount of pyridine heated for 1 hour with stirring at 1.20 ° C. The melt is then boiled with concentrated hydrochloric acid, the dye is filtered off with suction and, if desired, further purified by treatment with hypochlorite solution.
