Description
Process for the preparation of diaminoperylenequinone. It has been found that the hitherto unknown diaminoperylene quinone can dye tree wool in very deep, dark tones, so in contrast to the aminoanthraquinones it is a useful vat dye. The diaminoperylene quinone is obtained according to the present process by treating the dinitroperylene quinone with reducing agents.
Example: Sodium hydrosulfite is added to a slurry of one part of dinitroperylene quinone in 50 parts by weight of 5 / o aqueous sodium hydroxide solution with heating and stirring until the nitro body is dissolved. This gives a deep purple güpe. After 10 minutes of warming, a vigorous stream of air is passed through the hot liquid, the solution becoming discolored and the diaminoperylene quinone separating out as a dark powder.
This is insoluble in glacial acetic acid, benzene, alcohol, ether, but soluble in aniline with a violet color when heated. For cleaning, the body is recrystallized from aniline, which is obtained in dark, shiny metallic needles. In concentrated sulfuric acid it dissolves with a red color.
The vat is blue-violet, cotton is colored violet.
