Abstract
Extruded hollow e.g. asbestos cement units for retaining walls are vertical slabs incorporating several parallel vertical cells (49, 52) and interlocked by tongue (4) and groove (5) joints at vertical interfaces of abutting slabs. A 'T' sectioned unit (48) can be incorporated in certain slabs at intervals to form abutments (49') and the cells are filled with reinforced concrete (8). The abutments can be embedded in retained earth and their spacing can be varied with wall height, i.e. the higher the wall the more frequent the abutments.
Description

The present invention relates to a retaining wall characterized in that it is formed of monolithic, honeycombed, extruded hollow bodies having longitudinal interlocking elements, these hollow bodies extending in height and being arranged side by side and interlocked with each other.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the retaining wall forming the subject of the present invention.
Fig. I is a front elevation view of this wall.
Fig. 2 is a partial section on a larger scale taken on line 2-2 of FIG. 1.
The retaining wall shown is formed by hollow bodies 48. 51 and 54 having longitudinal elements of male 4 and female 5 interlocking extending vertically over the entire height of the hollow bodies. These hollow bodies are prefabricated in a material composed of asbestos and cement. They are extruded. which makes it possible to obtain any length or height. Other materials could be used, in particular suitable plastics to make these prefabricated elements. Each hollow body 48, 51 or 54 comprises cells 49, 52 and 55 respectively filled with reinforced concrete in 8.
The hollow bodies 48 constitute buttresses with a T-shaped section, the middle branch of which 49 'is engaged in the ground.
As shown in fig. 1, the hollow bodies 48, 51 and 54 constituting the wall are of different width depending on the height of the wall. In the low rise wall section 50. the hollow bodies 48 are separated from the hollow bodies 51 comprising. for example, six cells 52, while in the higher wall section 53 the hollow bodies 48 are separated by the hollow bodies 54 having only three cells.
In the section 56 of greater height, the hollow bodies 48.
that is to say the buttresses, are juxtaposed, which obviously gives greater resistance to the wall.
CLAIM
Retaining wall, characterized in that it is formed of monolithic, honeycombed extruded hollow bodies having longitudinal interlocking elements, these hollow bodies extending in height and being arranged side by side and nested together.
SUB-CLAIM
Wall according to claim, characterized in that it comprises buttresses formed by monolithic T-shaped hollow extruded bodies whose cells are filled with reinforced concrete and whose middle branch is engaged in the ground.
