The present invention relates to a device for cleaning teeth by means of a pulsating water jet, which device can be connected to a water pipe. According to the main patent, this device is characterized by means driven by water to make the exiting water jet pulsating.
The present invention represents a further development of such a device as claimed in the main patent. This device is characterized in that the means comprise a turbine runner or a gear motor, the bearing shaft of which is designed as a hollow shaft, which has at least one opening for pressurized water flowing into the hollow shaft and at least one opening for the pressurized water to exit the supply line to the mouthpiece and at least one opening for the discharge of the pressurized water into the drain of the device, the inflow opening being accessible to the pressurized water over the entire range of rotation of the shaft. however, the opening for the pressurized water to the mouthpiece only when the drain opening is at least partially closed and vice versa.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is explained with reference to a figure which shows a longitudinal section through such a device.
A connection nipple 50 is used for connection to a water pipe. A sleeve 52 is provided, rotatable about its axis. The nipple 50 has a lateral outflow opening 54 and axially extending outflow openings 55. The sleeve 52 is also provided with corresponding axial outflow openings 57. A bearing body 59 with a union cap nut 60 is located on the side. The bearing body 59 is provided with a bearing bore 62 and with a through-flow bore 63 for pressurized water. It also has an outflow bore 65, the dummy parts of which are closed by means of locking pins 66.
In the cover nut 60, a cover bearing bore 6S corresponding to the bore 62 and a pressurized water line 70 are provided which leads to the mouthpiece (not shown). At the end of the through hole 63 for the pressurized water there is an angled water nozzle 72 through which the pressurized water flows to drive a turbine rotor 73. The runner 73 is provided with spoon-like recesses 74 distributed over the circumference. from which through openings 75 lead to the other side of the turbine rotor 73 in a pressurized water chamber 75. The turbine rotor 73 is mounted by means of a hollow shaft 77, the ends of which are inserted in the bearing bore 62 and in the cover bearing bore 68.
The hollow shaft 77 is permanently connected to the pressurized water chamber 78 via a pressurized water opening 79. The hollow shaft 77 also has an outlet opening 80 for the pressurized water and a drain opening 81. A plurality of openings 79 and 80 can also be provided. Their arrangement is such that when there is a communicating connection between the drainage openings 81 and the drainage bore 65 or
Outflow bores 65, the outlet opening 80 to the pressurized water line 70 is at least partially closed, and conversely, when the opening 80 is open, the outflow opening (s) 81 is or are at least partially closed.
By turning the sleeve 52, the openings 55 and 57 can be brought more or less to coincide and thus the proportion of the water flowing directly into the drain can be determined. When the openings 57 of the sleeve 52 are completely or partially closed, the pressurized water flowing in from the water line reaches the recesses 74 of the turbine runner 73 in a corresponding proportion through the flow bore 63 and the nozzle 72 and drives it, corresponding to a Pelton wheel. The pressurized water then passes next to the turbine runner 73 and through the passage openings 75 into the pressurized water chamber 78 and then through the pressurized water opening 79 into the hollow shaft 77.
In one position of the shaft 77, the pressurized water opening 80 to the mouthpiece or the pressurized water line 70 to the mouthpiece is free and the pressurized water flows out through the mouthpiece. The pressure water discharge opening 81 is at least partially, but normally completely closed. When the hollow shaft 77 with the turbine runner 73 is in the position in which the pressurized water outlet opening 80 is closed, the pressurized water passes through the hollow shaft 77, the opening 81 and the drain hole 65 into the drain.
In this way, due to the periodic release of the pressurized water to the mouthpiece, a pulsating pressurized water jet is created in the line 70 to the mouthpiece, which is used to clean the teeth.
For the generation of a pulsating water jet, a positive working motor, e.g. B. a gear motor (reversal of the gear pump) are used.
The construction described is extremely simple in its structure, very reliable, easy to regulate with regard to jet hardness and cheap to procure.
