For the manufacture of bent parts, generally used bending machines adapted to the required bending operation and to the shape of the part to be bent. Thus, a bending machine different from that for bending a sheet metal or a profile is used to bend metal tubes or bars.
The subject of the invention is a bending machine making it possible to bend or bend indifferently tubes, metal bars, sheet metal plates or metal profiles.
This folding machine comprises a vice, to hold the parts to be bent, and a folding member articulated at the edge of one of the jaws of the vice, in a movable manner between an open position, in which one of its faces is in the extension of the internal face of this jaw, and a closed position, in which these two faces constitute the internal faces of a substantially straight dihedron.
This folding machine is characterized in that it is provided with removable folding dies, arranged between said jaws and on said face of the folding member, being in the open position in the extension of the internal face of the jaw to which it is articulated.
The accompanying drawing represents, schematically and by way of example. one embodiment of the folding machine according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a top plan view, in the open position.
Fig. 2 is a partial end view, from left to right of FIG. 1, in closed position.
Fig. 3 is a partial view in longitudinal section, in the closed position.
Fig. 4 shows the placement of folding dies. sectional views. with the folder open.
Fig. 5 represents the set of dies of FIG. 4 in a position corresponding substantially to that which it occupies when the folder is closed.
The bending machine shown in the drawing comprises a vise, the two jaws I and 2 of which are connected to one another by threaded rods 3, integral with the jaw 1, and entering slots 4, facing the jaw 2. A wing nut 5. screwed onto the free end of each of the threaded rods 3. makes it possible to tighten the jaws 1 and 2 on a part to be bent.
The vice formed by these jaws 1, 2 makes it possible to hold the part with a view to its subsequent folding. To allow adjustment of the position of this part in the vice, the jaw 1 has two rods 6 perpendicular to one of its sides, on which a stop 7 is movably mounted.
A folding member 8 is articulated along the edge of the jaw 1. on the side opposite to that which carries the rods 6. The active face 9 of this folding member 8 is located. in the open position of the folder. in the extension of the internal face 10 of the jaw I (see fig. 1). In the closed position of the folder. the active face 9 of the folding member 8 forms with the internal face 10 of the jaw I a right dihedron (see FIG. 3).
The folding member 8 is provided with a control handle 11 and the jaw 1 with an external projection 12. intended to be engaged between the jaws of a workshop vice. in order to immobilize It is thus without further possible to bend sheet metal plates on this folder.
In order to also allow the bending of L-profiles.
the jaw 2 is shorter than the jaw 1. Thus, a space is left to allow passage for the branch of the L. at one of the ends at least of the jaws 1. 2. between which the base of the L of the profile is clamped . Such a profile 13 is shown in phantom in FIG. 1. One of the ends of this L-section 13 bears against the stop 7. Of course. the removable dies 14-16, the function of which will be described later, are detached from the faces of the jaws 1, 2 and of the folding member 8, during this operation and the branch of the L of the profiles is preferably notched V where the base of the L is bent.
As shown in fig. 2 and 4, removable dies 14, 15 are arranged between the jaws 1, 2 and a die 16 is fixed to the active face 9 of the folding member 8, in cases where the part to be bent is not a single plate or L-shaped square.
The dies 14, 15 are used to hold a bar to be bent, for example, and the die 16 to bend this bar.
The dies 14, 15 have complementary grooves 17, 18 enveloping the part of the bar to be bent, held between the jaws 1, 2, in the bending position, and the die 16 has a guide groove 19 of the part of the bar to fold. The die 14 has two anchoring pins 20 intended to be engaged successively in two holes 21 of the die 15 and two recesses 22 of the face 10 of the jaw 1. These two dies 14, 15 can thus be easily removed and replaced by another pair of dies 14, 15 having grooves 17, respectively 18, intended to wrap a different part to be bent.
In addition to the anchor pins 20 'intended to be engaged in two recesses 22' of the face 9 of the folding member 8, the die 19 comprises a screw 23 intended to screw it to the folding member 8 having a corresponding threaded recess 24.
It is thus possible to provide a multitude of sets of dies 14-16 intended for the folding of pieces of different shape on the same folder.
The folding machine described and shown in the drawing is a manual folding machine, but it is without further possible to replace its handle 11 by a mechanical or hydraulic closing control device, for example.
