The so-called monohull watch cases whose back, middle and bezel constitute a single piece on which the crystal is fixed by elastic clamping, are of interest first of all by the economy of material that is possible. to achieve during their manufacture and then by the good sealing qualities due essentially to the reduction in the number of seals.
However, ice removal presents certain difficulties. To this end, tools are known which make it possible to clamp the glass by its periphery in order to reduce its diameter and thus be able to easily remove it from its housing. One of these tools consists of a split ring which can be closed around the periphery of the mirror by means of pliers with two handles. Another tool has a multitude of jaws capable of tilting by the action of levers. It sometimes happens that these tools injure the periphery of the ice and its replacement becomes necessary. In addition, in the case of glasses provided with tension rings, the compressive force exerted on the periphery of the crystal risks causing deformation of the ring also requiring its replacement.
To remedy these drawbacks, a method has been devised according to which a sufficient overpressure is created inside the box for the ice to come out of its housing.
The application of this method can be carried out by a pump having the appearance of a syringe, the outlet orifice of which is adjusted on the tube of the crown. A displacement of the piston then creates the desired overpressure inside the box. The use of this pump is however impractical since it is necessary to simultaneously hold the watch on the outlet orifice and the body of this pump while the piston is being moved.
This process is also used to uncork bottles. The corkscrews are then formed by an elastic bulb provided with a valve and connected to a conduit passing through the cork.
The air is forced into the bottle by a series of compression of the bulb. The extraction is gradual but slow. Another type of corkscrew makes use of a CO2 capsule which is placed in communication with the duct. The extraction is fast, but it is necessary to reload the corkscrew after every use or almost.
The present invention relates to a pump for producing an overpressure in a sealed monocoque watch case with a view to removing the ice therefrom, consisting of a cylinder and a piston.
and comprising a conduit fitting to an orifice in the box, ca
characterized by the fact that said duct constitutes the piston rod,
and that the overpressure is created by bringing the cylinder closer to the ori
fice of the box, the dimensions of the cylinder being such that by a
only movement of this sufficient overpressure is created
in the box.
This pump allows quick and easy ice removal
by a single action on the cylinder and without the need to
recharge the pump, which is not possible with pumps with
naked.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the present invention.
The only figure is a section.
This embodiment comprises a cylinder 1 having a bottom 2 and which carries, at its other end, a cap 3 bored in its center and screwed onto the body of the cylinder. The piston 4 is formed by a ring of flexible material clamped, by two washers 5 and 6, on the rod 7 of the piston. This passes through the bore of the cap 3 and is provided at its outer end with a sleeve 8 which fits with a slight tightening on the tube 9 of the watch case 10. The piston rod and the piston are drilled and form a duct so that the compressed air in the cylinder can flow inside the box that is to be opened.
The operation of opening a box is simple: the operator grasps the cylinder with one hand, holds the box on the sleeve with the other hand and then brings the box closer to the cylinder in such a way that the pressure increasing inside this cylinder and inside the case, the ice separates from the middle part.
