The present invention relates to a member for fixing a workpiece to a table having a T-shaped groove, comprising a polygonal head intended to be engaged in said groove and to retain the fixing member and a rod provided with locking means.
Fasteners of this type are already known, the head of which has a square or rectangular shape in plan. They can be engaged in the groove of the table from one of its ends. The head is then guided in the groove so as to prevent the fixing member from rotating about its axis. Usually the rod is threaded. A flange can be engaged on it for viewing an opening and resting on the one hand on the part to be fixed and on the other hand on a wedging element. This flange is then secured by means of a nut screwed onto the rod of the fixing member.
However, it may happen that one or more parts being fixed on the table, and adjusted in positions determined by several fixing members engaged in the same groove, it is necessary to introduce between two of these fixing members a additional fixing intended, for example, to allow the fixing of another part. This operation can only be done by first removing one of the fasteners already in place.
T-screws are known, on the other hand, the head of which has the shape of a small-width plate or has lugs, and which are intended in particular for fixing certain devices on mounting elements such as bars provided. slots, these T-screws being arranged so as to be able to be engaged in the slot of the bar, then turned 900 before fixing the device. Such elements cannot be used for fixing parts intended to be machined on a table having a T-slot.
The object of the present invention is to create a fixing member of the type mentioned above which can be engaged between two members already placed in the same groove without requiring the disassembly of these members.
For this, the fixing member according to the invention is characterized in that the head has in plan the shape of a parallelogram, one of the heights of which is at most equal to the width of the slot of said groove.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the fixing member according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view thereof, and FIG. 2 is a plan view of a table in the groove of which are engaged two members similar to that of FIG. 1 oriented differently.
The fixing tie rod 1 comprises a threaded rod 2 and a head 3, the plan shape of which is visible in FIG. 2. This shape is that of a parallelogram, one of the heights of which is equal to the diameter of the rod 2. The head 3 is intended to be engaged in a T-shaped groove made in a table 4. This groove comprises a slot 5 which extends in a straight line along the width of the table 4. It is limited by two parallel sides and opens into a housing 6 of rectangular profile wider than the slot 5. The T-slot does not necessarily have to extend from one edge to the other of table 4. It could end with a rounding, in the mass of the table.
The diameter of the rod 2 is slightly less than the width of the slot 5. The other height of the parallelogram formed by the head 3 is equal to the width of the groove 6. The two obtuse angles of the parallelogram are rounded off as shown. see at 7 in fig. 2, so as to allow rotation of the member 1 around the axis of the rod 2 from the position shown to the left of FIG. 2 to the position shown on the right, the head 3 then engaging below the sides of the slot 5. The tie rod 1 also has two reinforcing elements 8 in the shape of a diamond whose obtuse angles are rounded and the inclinations of the sides of which correspond to that of the parallelogram of the head 3.
These reinforcing elements extend in height between the sides of the slot 5. They are dimensioned so as to allow rotation of the tie rod from the engagement position to the locking position. In this last position, one of their sides each presses against one of the sides of the slot 5.
On the rod 2, one can engage a flange of usual shape which has an opening adjusted to the diameter of the rod, and which rests, on the one hand on the part that is to be fixed to the table 4, and d 'on the other hand on a wedge of suitable height. The assembly is then secured by means of a nut which is screwed onto the rod 2.
As a variant, the tie rod locking means, instead of being constituted by a thread and a nut, could be formed by an eccentric or a lever, for example.
The tie rod described above has the advantage of being able to be engaged in the groove 6 vertically between two tie rods already in place, then brought into the locking position by simple rotation. The parallelogram-shaped head could also be engaged through the slot of a flange while the nut intended for locking the tie rod would already be screwed onto the end of the rod. In addition, thanks to the gathered shape of the head 3 and to the reinforcing elements 8, the tie rod described has sufficient rigidity to allow its use on a machine tool table, for example.
